I purchased this washer and noticed immediately that my clothing was not coming clean. I tried several different soaps, load sizes, and temperate settings.. I decided to use a magnet to keep the lid open and was shocked that the clothing never moves.. it just agitates back and forth with the clothing on top never even reaching the bottom to get wet. This one is going back to the store!

  2. Tyffani

On Cottons Extra Heavy cycle after the water is filled the clothes are moved around for 20 minutes for the rinse cycle fabric softner setting the clothes are moved around in the water for 3 minutes. The warm setting is close to cold tap water straight out of the faucet. The Precise Auto-Fill setting doesn’t put enough water.

We have owned this product for approx 16 months. At exactly 1 year the washer started having ‘spinning’ issues and we would have to run it through spin cycle after a wash b/c it never spun the clothes to damp. Now, at 16 months the motor has gone out and GE charges over two hundred dollars for just the part itself. We have to buy a new washer!! Not worth your money, doesn’t always get the clothes clean, and we have had to wash clothes twice due to soap still being on the top clothes. The spin cycle for this is pretty loud. The “rent” for this washer comes out to $30 a month and now it’s good as trash!

First off, let me say my HUSBAND purchased this washer…. I would’ve never left the store with it! This is possibly the LOUDEST mahine I’ve ever heard and the PRECISE Fill feature is a JOKE! I’m able to wash about 4 – 5 regular towels at one time with the addition of adding (by a pitcher) 4 gallons of water. You have no settings for S M L load and if you stop the machine in mid cycle, the water will begin to automatically drain! UGH!!!!!! Imagine adding 4 pairs of adult jeans to 1 gallon of water and then watching the machine rotate left to right… the clothes were not getting clean in that little amount of water! I would discourage everyone from purchasing this heap! I wish I had my old Whirlpool back! 🙁

Washes clothes well, lots of setting options, very quiet, like the fact still has agitator but larger capacity with stainless, like the option to sill chose load size myself, takes a little longer to wash then older models but thats due to increased spins and longer wash cycle with loss water used – time is made up in shorter dryer cycle since clothes dont come out soaking wet.
Recommend -especially if you get on a sales holiday – we got for 425 on black friday with free shipping-that with credit card points- bestbuy pts etc brought costs to 375

We bought this washer and the accompanying dryer about six months ago, after a disastrous set of Maytags started having problems within a week of purchase. It works well enough, but no matter how carefully you load it, it seems to bang its way through the spin cycle – when it actually bothers to get to the spin cycle. About 1 time in 5, it seems to skip the spin altogether. It’s easy enough to turn it straight to the spin and hit start when that happens, but still.

Others have mentioned issues with the auto-fill not providing enough water to get the clothes clean – I noticed this at first and now always use the manual water level selection and usually the 2nd rinse option. Not very water-saving at that point, but at least the clothes are clean!

Also, it does make a slight repetitive squeaking noise when agitating that is apparently just a normal part of operation. Not a big deal for us, and the eventual banging of the unbalanced spin cycle is much louder anyway, hahaha!

In retrospect, I miss the Kenmore stack we left behind when we relocated and rented out our old house. Didn’t know it would be so difficult these days to find a washer that worked simply and well!

I have not had any problems with this machine. I had a very expensive name brand top loader that did not have an agitator that shred my sheets and towels. I was looking for an “old school” washer without any bells and whistles. This washer is easy to use, washes my clothes, and I no longer have to worry about my towels and sheets being shredded.

I researched extensively when buying this machine (replacement for dead Kenmore) and while I saw a number of negative comments the positive seemed far more valid and as far as I am concerned they were correct…

The washer does make a strange noise, compared to older washers, but it is not loud or annoying to us.

My wife swears that it is cleaning better than any previous washer and using HE detergent is actually cheaper as you use such a small amount.

We have not had a single out of balance issue, while our older kenmore would get out of balance every other load or so…

Now it doesn’t email you when the cycles are done or anything but has far more options then we would ever need being an average family of 5…

Washes large loads including blankets and comforters without any problems…

Overall we have been very pleased with this machine and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a good solid machine.

I purchased this after my Kenmore side fill failed. I decided I wanted a top loader and purchase this GE washer .I do not have to bend over to load this machine. It is Much quiter than my Kenmore, the only noise it makes is a little squeek when the agitar is moving. Even the spin cycle is quite. I have read all of these reports and if you set the controls properly it adds enough water and the clothes come out clean and are reinsed properly. I really like this washer.

We wanted a washing machine that performed well, but we weren’t interested in a lot of bells and whistles. We chose this machine and we are happy we did. It cleans great, has a large capacity and it is quiet. You hear it when it is draining and spinning, but it is not abnormally loud. It offers high efficiency functionality at a standard washing machine price. The “PreciseFILL” feature has worked perfectly every time, but you can override it if you prefer to choose a specific water level setting. It doesn’t have all the latest electronic features, but who needs that. After all…it’s a washing machine, not a car! I’ve read some negative reviews on this machine, but we’ve experienced none of the problems that some users have pointed out. I recommend this product.
