The trim kit is very well designed. It is very solid and well made. I had to install the top plate twice because the center of the plate did not align with the center of the microwave.

I was shocked to find that this was cheap plastic, not metal.
Though not really this trim’s fault, the matching microwave’s door wouldn’t open, and it kept running until I pulled the plug. I had to drill out the screws to remove this trim piece since installation requires you to open the door!

This trim kit was purchased to replace previous GE trim kit. GE has redesigned the kit where it does not fit flush against the wall, thereby leaving an ugly open gap about an inch wide. Beware unless you want dust and debris trapped around the microwave!

Yes you need it to go around this microwave especially if you are replacing an older one with this one.

This trim kit looks great and was easy to install. It fit our oven perfectly.

Cheap plastic. This is not simply a flat trim piece. There is plastic that protrudes a few inches into the cutout area in the corners so you must have the minimum dimensions for the cutout. I can’t believe that they put such a high price on what is essentially a piece of plastic. Poor value for the $. Too bad because we love the microwave it goes with.

It works for the microwave we purchased, but was on back order for really really long so we pretty much had a hole in cabinets for months. We had to do some adjustments because it didn’t fit on the first try, overall it’s pretty good.

Fit was good as advertised. My old one was metal. This one is all plastic. A bit pricey for a plastic frame, but had to buy it to install the microwave.

My old GE Profile microwave went out after 7 years so I purchased a new unit and also had to purchase this trim kit because the old trim kit didn’t fit any new models. I noticed that the Phillips Round-Head Flat Tipped Screws that are needed to attach the frame to the brackets were missing. I called GE support and they have no screws they can provide and couldn’t tell me what size the screws are. Their suggestion was to continue to order new kits until I found one that has the screws needed.
