Quite fast to focus and reliable OIS system throughout the range.
Brad –
Great telephoto lens! The extra reach vs the 55-200 is well appreciated on top of also being weather sealed.

I am very happy with this lens. It is light, priced right and the photos are sharp. I recommend this lens highly and also recommend Best Buy1

Fujifilm finally has a 70-300 lens to compete with Nikon, Canon, Sony and Pentax! The accompanying photos show the quality and versatility of this lens. I’m looking forward to using it a lot more.

I’m using this lens with my X-T3 and am very pleased with the quality of the images.

Overall: If you want to expand your reach beyond the kit lens, this telephoto zoom lens is an great choice.
Build Quality/Size: This lens is weather resistant (WR) and adds peace off mind when shooting in the dusty, rainy conditions. Considering its zoom range of 70mm-300mm it is fairly compact and weighted nicely, not too heavy nor too light. Comes with a good size plastic lens hood that will prevent any unnecessary sun flares. Zoom ring is fitted with a tactile rubber grip, and it turns smoothly without being overly tight. The manual focus on the other hand feels loose while turning, it is very smooth as your turn it, but definitely the least resistant I’ve felt compared to all the other Fuji lenses I own (10-24, 18-55, & 50 f/2). Not really an issue because I would rarely use manual focus anyways.
Image Quality: The Images I get out of this lens is sharp with beautiful separation from the subject and the background. Bokeh is pleasing and smooth, it is very easy to isolate your subjects to give it that “professional” look. This lens has fast autofocus, even paired with my ancient Fuji X-T1.
Features:
OIS: The optical stabilization works really well, very quiet, and aids in nailing that sharp photo especially in the longer focal lengths because camera shake is even more pronounced the longer the zoom is. Since this is a newer Fuji lens there is no ON/OFF Switch in the lens body, it must be turned on/off in the camera.
WR: Pair this lens with a weather sealed camera body and you can tackle pretty much any shooting conditions without much worry.
Zoom Lock: The lens is equipped with a LOCK SWITCH on the lens body (prevents the barrel from extending when not in use) A common feature on most zoom lenses with barrel extending zooms, but the neat thing with their implementation of this feature is that it auto unlocks once your start moving the lens barrel. My previous 18-200 Nikon Zoom had this lock switch but it required you to manually unlock it each time – which can be costly when it comes to capturing fleeting moments in photography.
Autofocus Limiter: The lens can be left on FULL (the autofocus system will go through the whole focus range as it tries to nail focus or you can leave it on 5m to infinity. Useful feature in specific scenarios. Its a nice touch considering its not a “red badged” professional XF Zoom lens.
Things to consider: It is a variable aperture lens, so at 70mm it is f/4 which is nice and bright, but as you zoom to 300 the widest aperture is f/5.6
Misc Thoughts:
Pair this with the Fuji 16-80 and you have a 2-lens kit that has OIS, WR and covers 16mm-300mm focal length.
This lens is great for portraiture, also for macro type of shots, and anything that requires you to get closer to your subjects such as wildlife, bindings, sports, etc.
The last two images I included shows the zoom capability from 70mm to 30mm.

Great lens, sharp focus, not too heavy. Build in stabilization. Good zoom range. weather resistant.
WestGhost –
Really nice lens for Fujifilm X cameras. I use it for bird photography.

I’m using on an XT3. Excellent sharpness and reach. The image stabilization allows me to get some very long shots by hand. It’s light enough to travel with, and the weather sealing gives me confidence in my purchase.
FUJIFILM –
Razor-sharp, the least expected stabilization, very happy!
DWPriestly –
This lens is well regarded but right now hard to get. It’s nice and sharp, and works as it should.
AverageJoe –
Great light and affordable zoom lens. This is my primary lens for hiking/outdoor shots. It is very light (compared to DSLR 70/200mm) to carry with my Black Rapid strap. Paired with my XT2…it’s a great combination. Typical/expected Fuji sharpness that I’ve come to expect.

I upgraded from the XC 50-230 lens to this XF unit. And I must say, I’ve enjoyed the sharpness and the reach. The extra stop of aperture has been very useful in low-light situations, and it has allowed me to get nice bokeh when I frame the shots right. It is a good bit heavier though, so I don’t carry it in my hiking bag unless I know for sure that I’ll need a zoom for the types of pictures I want.

Great lens, not lightweight but not heavy either. feels well made and solid on the grip. been waiting for a while to purchase this and glad I did
iPrinz –
Extremely sharp corner to corner and very lightweight. Focus is vastly improved
Cbrwiz –
This lens is a gem: light, fast to focus, water resistant and sharp. I wish the hood was smaller and that it had a dedicated aperture ring, but other than that, this lens can take on the much more expensive and heavier 100-400.
Tempe –
Sharp and lightweight with good range. Works well with 1.4 x teleconverter. .
Turboturtle –
Excellent lens for Fuji Cameras. Hard to get but worth the wait. Sharp and light.
Satisfied –
I purchased this to take nature shots. I found it easy to change from one lens to the next and had the features I was looking for
LarryL –
Another great Fuji lens to add to my XT-4. The additional length is great for wildlife.
KoolMoeD –
Fantastic lens for the X system. I bought this lens shortly after it came out last year, used it more than any other lens in my kit, and then bought another one as a replacement when I accidentally smashed the other one to pieces beyond repair (always make sure your camera bags are zipped folks). It has excellent quality, gets you in close when the subject is far away, and focuses surprisingly close so works really well as a more flexible alternative to a dedicated macro lens. This lens spends more time on my camera than any other, even the red badges.

As an amateur photographer I didnt originally want to spend too much on a zoom lens since I rarely use but after using Fuji XC 50-230mm for a few years, I realized that I wanted a better quality lens. This is faster, sharper and has weather seal. Cant complain. Great glass!

To start, I’m a graphic designer and relatively new to the photography scene so this isn’t a technical review.
This lens blew my expectations out of the water. I own the Fuji 23mm 1.4 LM, Sigma 30mm, and Fuji 18-55mm and I love them all for their unique abilities, however this has quickly become my new favorite lens. The sharpness across the board is amazing, great background blur on subjects and the ability to photograph wildlife without getting too close and sacrificing quality makes this a forever keeper in my book.
The price point is great and it’s compact enough to travel with. Can’t wait to take it to Disney World this summer.

Awesome service & help! Absolutely LOVE LOVE the camera lens! Will definitely shop there more!!!!

This lens is a sleeper, incredible IQ for the compact size and the only compact telephoto lens that accepts teleconverters. The single one downside in my opinion is built, it’s all plastic but I think they purposely did to keep the weight down, just think of the fuji 55-200 but with better IQ, more reach and teleconverter option in the same size and weight.
Zarar –
excellent lens with amazing quality and ……ooo its so light!
ElectronicsFan –
Been using this lens for a while, fun lens, not that heavy and big for the reach, you can do some macros as well, not like extreme close up, but good enough, good for portrait as well. But somehow this lense have no firmware update since forever.
Austinpugsforever –
This is an amazing lens for the Fuji X series of cameras, and provides extra reach in comparison to the 55-200 mm lens. It is small and light enough for traveling.
LuY0108 –
Perfect lens… I brought it to Seattle and got the stunning photos
