I loved using it; I have the Canon version of this lens and it is as good as that. However, the weight factor does defeat some of the purpose of using a mirrorless system. Good addition to your lens line up, but you might fall back to your light weight primes on your day to day shoots.

I wanted a lens for my XT3 with more reach than the XF50-140 for the purpose of bird photography as well as taking pics of the container ships coming in on the shipping channel. At this moment we as consumers have 2 choices for the Fuji APSC sensor line of cameras. Either the brand new and very expensive 200mm F2 lens (approximately $6,000) or this 100-400 variable aperture lens.
I bought it less than 2 months ago when it went on sale. Thus far I am very happy with the purchase. Just like any lens, it has limitations. Because of the variable aperture it doesn’t like low light environments. Having said that, I will attach to this review a picture taken just today with this lens. It was approximately 10:30 AM, indoors at the Moody Gardens’s Rain Forest pyramid in Galveston, TX. Weather was overcast, not sunny or bright at all. Keep in mind the pictures added for review are limited by Best Buy to a miserable 5MB. Original pictures are 23 megapixels. Second picture was taken at night with subject being a Ferris wheel.

I took this lens on a trip to Africa. The close up pictures were amazing! Would definitely buy again!

This is a well performing lens, as long as you are aware of extreme tele limitations. At 100-300mm range it is very sharp, but performance drops slightly at the longer end.
Optical stabilization is decent, and made even better when paired with in body stabilization. I recommend using at least a monopod for improved results.
Weather resistance is certainly a plus. This lens pairs well with the 1.4x TC but 2.0x TC performance is disappointing.

It’s big. It’s heavy. It takes great photos. I’m not a pro, but the images this lens produces are sharp. I’m very happy with it. Build quality is solid, as you’d expect from Fuji. You’ll need a monopod or tripod to stabilize. Great for nature and sports.

Have to say that the lens is great overall. It came with two nasty dings on it though. Paying $2000 for a lens, I would like to be the one that puts the first ding on it!

This red badge lens is great! I love the weight vs my Canon full frame. Much easier to carry around and the image quality is excellent.
