  2. NagasuryasD

  3. Samarth

Picture quality was very good….. for sure recommended..

  4. Richard

Wow. I just bought this instead of the LS11000 and I’m glad I did. The 3D is astounding. Much better than the last projector I had. I think it’s mainly because of the contrast. This projector is soooooo good. I love everything about. It’s also $1,500 cheaper than the Epson new laser projectors too. Every disc I have thrown at it looks amazing. This may be the last Epson projector with 3D, so if that’s important to you I would get this while you can. Very minimal crosstalk (adjustable in the settings). Every 3D tv I have owned always had some crosstalk regardless. It’s about as good as I have seen it though. You won’t regret it. Even dvds look good and I’m sitting 11ft from a 120” screen. 3d is not the most important aspect of this projector, but it did push me to get it. Also, it came with the latest firmware (104). No more iris pumping (looks like flicker). It just works, all of it. Placement is a breeze. All the zoom, focus, etc is done with the remote. The lens even opens and closes when you turn it on and off. Super premium. AND…edge to edge focus for real!!! I have struggled getting many previous projectors to focus. The corners are crisp!!! I did have to do a minor panel alignment, (it’s in the settings). They say sometimes the lcds can move around in shipping. I would have never noticed it had I not been looking for it. It was easy to do, and that worked too!!! All of it just works. Overall I am very happy to get this while they still make them. The sale price is a steal. If you buy this, you will not regret it. I am sooo happy I did. Oh, and it’s a little big, but the actual feet measure 11 inches out to out, so you can set it atop any shelf that’s at least 11.75” (could be a little less too). I just had to bump out my shelf 2-3 inches from the back wall. Looks great. LOVE IT.

  5. Areeb

  10. JohnS

Picture quality so fantastic that I want to watch all my DVD’s all over again. Brighter than most lasers. Control4 compatible. Can do 3D if you can find RF glasses.

  11. Prashanth

I originally thought bulb projector will have low quality but went with this because of my cousin’s suggestion. This projector is way better compared to other company laser projectors

  12. KumarK

  16. AdanP

Great projector is much better than my old Epson 4010

  17. NeoNurse

Excellent crisp picture quality. Amazing graphics with fast action movies.

  18. Mana

Bought this projector a month ago to replace a 10 year old Epson HD projector. Really great to watch 4K movies now on my home theater with superb black levels. Satisfied with its performance so far.

  19. Venkat

Amazing projector with nice resolution and 3d capabilities

  20. ChrisH

Works as advertised! Great picture and the sound of the fan is close enough to silent for me.

  21. NicoleL

Value for money I’m just not sure you can get a better projector. On sale this costs less than half what an entry level native 4K projector, but is that projector really twice as good? I’m sure it’s a better picture, sharper, deeper blacks and all that but more than twice? I doubt. I believe the law of diminishing returns applies. The picture this projector gives is amazing. The HDR, black levels and sharpness are magnificent. If you’re looking to spend under $5K this should definitely be on your short list.

  22. Pkpk

Super projector. A little noise at starting but mostly silent after that. Picture quality is amazing.

  23. Sigrid

Have had for some time now and wow, what a great image this thing throws. In a light controlled room it’s like a bid LCD tv

  24. JamesM

This is amazing. Waiting on the home theater to finish, I have been using it by the pool, Amazing picture even with a 20’ wide screen. Just need to keep the popcorn out of the pool.

  25. SamS

This was a disappointing experience on many levels.

Not a huge improvement over 10 year old 1080 projector:
I have a 10 year old Epson 1080 projector (Powerlite 3020) with the original bulb (2300 hours). The 5050UB is sure a better projector but the jump did not wow us. I kept telling myself that a $ 3000 projector has to be better than a projector I bought 10 years ago. To convince myself to keep the projector, I took movie stills from a 4K movie (Panasonic DB900) and streaming content. Once I put these images next to each other, I knew I have made a mistake. Have a look at the images and draw your own conclusions. It may be a meaningful difference for some, but I struggled to justify spending $ 3000 on a pretend 4K projector. A videophile may discern the differences but from the typical distance movies are watched, I found no compelling reason to keep this projector. A 10 year 1080 projector that costs half as much should pale in comparison to a modern Faux K projector that costs twice as much (without even adjusting for inflation).

BB restocking fees: Perhaps it’s been a while since I have shopped at BB but I didn’t realize regardless of the reason, if you return essentially any item, you will be charged a restocking fee of 15 %. That is $ 450! that I had to pay for the privilege of owning this projector for a few days. I understand that perhaps customers have abused the privilege of being able to return items on BB, without penalty, and they were forced to implement these measures. However, I will think twice about buying anything BB. I hope the money BB made implementing 15% restocking fee is more than the business they lost due to customers simply not buying as you will be stuck with an item you don’t like.

Overall, for me the image of two brands was tarnished. Epson couldn’t show a meaningful improvement over their 10 year old technology yet charge their customers more than double for the same tech. And, BB needs to be more creative than charging their customers 15 % restocking fees to save themselves from the Amazons of the world.

I highly recommend you do not buy any of these faux K projectors if you have an older decent 1080 projector.

  26. Rick

I’ve had this projector for about 15 years works great I would’ve loved to buy the Sharp or the LS 12,000 but the price was a prohibitive. Get me a better price and I’ll swap it out tomorrow

  27. Somnogolist

State of the art equipment. Sunlight does not effect visibility. Amazing size screen, feel as if your really in the movie theater. Looking for to this lasting very long time. Go buy one especially if your a gamer the details are epic!

  28. RooseveltM

sold my Epson HC4010 to get this killer model 5050UB, and the UB Ultra Black stands up it’s name, the contrast ration is much better than the 4010 the HDR control, love it!!! on the fly HDR level is on point, Tested the 3D, also very good, as I still have 3D blurays in my library, Picture quality and colors are also on point, I have a true home theater room environment black walls and ceiling, and in it’s birghtest mode this this super bright!! wow. in All no dissapointed in this purchase.

  29. Youre

Great projector the brightness level is super amazing

  30. PeterC

The projector that Best Buy recommended after an initial site survey and that I purchased works magnificentlysssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. The crew from Best Buy that installed the unit were very competent and congenial.

  31. NathanielP

Good product. Easy to use. Good forbthe prize. Highly recommended.

  32. Vitsal

Really good projector!!! Replaced my older 1080p Epson, and noticed a huge difference, especially if you’re closer to the screen. Super contrast! really easy to set up.

  33. charquin

Replaced an older 1080P I had for 10+ years. Did my research on the laser projectors and opted to go with this due to the convenience of replacing the bulb anytime I need to. We are blown away at the picture quality out of the box. I have not changed any settings. Mounted, plugged in, set picture dimension and finished. The picture is better than the 2 LED tvs on each side of the screen that we use for football watching. It looks like I have a 135″ LED tv. If you are trying to decide between this and the laser versions, save the money and buy the 5050UB. You can thank me later.

  34. CarreraPete

The projector’s picture quality is nothing short of incredible…but there is a caveat: I’ve had three previous models, including a 5050UB that failed on me (none of them went longer than 3k hours). It seems that Epson has a power supply problem that they cannot get a grip on. When the projector fails, you have no other choice than to send it back for a refurbished replacement. I highly recommend an extended warranty because it’s a roll of the dice each and every time you start the projector up.

  35. BruceP

This is the projector you want if you can afford it. The picture is so crisp it blows my mind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

  36. Twil803

Recent brought this projector for our home theater its simply amazing the picture quality is awesome. Very easy to setup and mount to the celing

  37. Brandon

Recommended to us by a Best Buy home theater specialist. He seems to have been spot on. We tried a different projector first that seemed to be a better bargain, but it just didn’t fit in our home theater.

This one fits great. The greatest advantage is that it was just what we needed. It was able to adjust screen size and dimensions throughout a wide range so we could mount it where the room was built for it and everything worked out well. Image is great.

Without the wide range of adjustments, it really leaves you questioning whether or not it will really work until you try (as we did with a previous brand/model). With the Epson, you could have a lot more confidence in what you are getting.

  38. ScottC

Have only used it upon delivery for inspection against a beige painted wall. I was impressed by the image quality without using a projector screen. A wide availability of image adjustments make for an awesome time if you’re into those things like me. I can’t wait for final install once theatre room is complete and will update accordingly.

  39. RobertW

Beautiful video. Happy with the projector and would buy it again.

  40. SushantM

The projector is really good at contrast and brightness as like with other reviews . However some guidelines. You should try setting contrast with a sample video which has deep blue water or deep green colors . There is some adjustment required for getting the right color . For reference I used my existing 4K tv right beside the projector screen and played the Same content simultaneously. There is a difference in the deep blue or green colors. The color is inclined towards bluer shade in most cases. Does it matter a lot, probably not as you would be blown away with the overall contrast.
Another thing I had a high performance perforated screen so if you are using that with this projector you need at least 8 feet of viewing distance. Otherwise you would see a bit of moire effect or pixelated image
I believe something to note if you are using any of the above setup.
Other than that the setup is a breeze with infinite projection options and zoom options which makes it a smooth setup

  41. BestBuyLoyalCustomer

Projector surpass expectation in clarity and brightness. Some changes to setting would be required to get desired results. But overall the product is top of the class.

  42. DayviA

This is one of the best projectors , good quality, graphics,

  43. SteveH

Replacing a 21 YO Sharpvision DLP HD projector – new projector easy set up great picture -motorized lens adjustments make set and focus super easy once you get the hang of the remote! Big Beast of a projector – outstanding picture!

  44. PawanK

great picture clarity. Colors displayed are very bright and vivid. worth the price and great choice for home theater setup.

  45. Nona

Best image in this price range. Color is accurate out of the box. Black levels are incredible.

  46. Onny23

I simply love the product . Nice resolution . I love the features.

  47. Marc

Excellent home theater projector. White version camouflages well with white ceiling.

  48. MitchA

Hard to find a better, crisper picture than we have with the Epson 5050UB…and bright so that even in a room that is not very dark, you see everything clearly. Very pleased with this!

  49. CharlesC

Picture looks amazing right out of the box. I cannot figure out how to activate HDR settings though.

  50. Noax

Easy lens adjustments via good, (if large) remote. Easy color mode selections. Up and running with only a little effort.

Online user guide (PDF) elaborate but not helpful to first time owners. Independent YouTube videos explain how to set up more clearly.
