The item has 4k an works very well. You can adjust it. So that you do not have to face the projector a certain way.

  17. DeenDavid

The picture is clear and colors are vivid! I love the clarity of it!

  18. PeterC

After 4 months of use, the projector has done well so far. Great light levels and this model was necessary to get a long throw inverted from the ceiling from the back of the room. I can keep the room so much brighter than the projector I replaced.

  19. Abunch

  20. Goforit

  23. TVMounting

Long wait is over and finally I got the product which I was looking. Highly recommend this projector to the people who are looking for a reasonable price.

  24. ToddP

not capable of HDR+ , 4K is misleading as it should say not HDR+ capable

  25. cweldon

Let me start out by saying this is my first projector, so I am not an aficionado by any means.

That said, I have been using this projector daily for upwards of 8 hours every day to play games, watch movies / tv, or with my desktop computer. I use it in “eco mode” which is the lowest brightness and its still plenty bright for me, even with my lights on! (As an added bonus, the lamp lasts up to 5000 hours in this mode!). The projector is always silent and has never gotten overly hot even with extended use.

The image looked great to me out of the box, but there are several user-friendly quick image modes you can pick from and advanced settings for fine tuning if you so desire. I play games in 4k 60 FPS and it looks and performs beautifully.

If like me this is your first “home theater” projector, let me warn you that it is HUGE. I knew it would be big, but in person it’s much larger than you expect. I live in an apartment so I can’t really mount it anywhere, so I bought a “Pearington AV Presentation cart” off of amazon ($180 but worth every penny). It’s what we used at school to wheel them around and it’s a perfect fit for this projector. It hold all of my consoles, my speaker system and accessories. On top of that I can move my whole setup around easily! I highly recommend getting one of those if you are also renting.

TLDR: After thorough use (around 2780 hours) I can highly recommend this projector. These are quality machines built to last. It has everything you could want from a projector and I can’t imagine a better bang for your buck.

  26. Bohdan

good quality ,easy to use and set up .But they should include 3-D glasses with it.

  27. Unknown

Excellent projector, crisp image and all desired features

  28. SeafoamiPhone

I am upgrading from a 1080p Epson 3020 and the first thing I noticed (other than how much bigger it is) was how quiet the fan is. I have a dark room so I can keep it on eco mode and the fan is hardly noticeable. This is one of the few ways to still watch 3D blu ray movies and it is also 4k. My 120 inch screen is off center and the image slides over without much distortion. It didn’t come with glasses and they are not easy to find, but I still give it 5 stars because it does a great job. There is not much lag for gaming which is often overlooked in projectors.

  29. CharlesS

My projector had HDMI 1 abruptly stop working. This is the only port that works for 4k for some reason due to port 2 not having hdcp2.2, some form drm I think but idk.

It is under warranty so I figured no problem, boy was I wrong. Best buy used to let you bring things like this to them and they deal with the manufacturer, that doesn’t happen anymore I guess. Oh well, I thought and called epson. The people on the phone can’t understand what is going on and went so far as to send me an email quoting my complaint that one port doesn’t work at all and the other doesn’t support 4k followed by this doesn’t indicate that your unit needs repair or replacement.

My warranty was and still is active but according to Epson your projector being half dead and unable to use advertised features such as 4k is normal. Almost like they simply don’t understand the equipment they are supposed to be troubleshooting. I really don’t need someone to try and trouble soot this over the phone as I did that and included it in my first message. Yes I tried new cables, different devices ruled out everything but the projector. I even humoured them by updating the firmware even though I can think of no reason out of date firmware would make it stop working. Lastly I called best buy again to ask them to reach out to Epson on my behalf but was told they couldn’t help me.

Don’t buy this thing, they don’t stand behind it. You’ll be waiting on hold listening to recordings of Shaq saying your a vip at Epson for days before they answer and make it clear to them your not even a person let alone a vip. I have 2 other projectors that are twice as old and literally a tenth the price. Are they as good? In many ways no, but they still work and if they didn’t I wouldn’t be mad because they didn’t cost me 2k and come from a supposedly reputable brand.

  30. BinoyP

Didn’t like it at all, my older model was better to setup, didnt see the quality I was looking for.

  31. deep

Great projector. I love the picture quality and how brightness.

I wish the projector had bluetooth or Audio out other than that no complains.

  32. TheBOB

I am a savvy technology guy. I have worked in tv production an entire career. I am great at troubleshooting and figuring things out. I picked up this unit and I could not get HDMI 1 to work properly. It has that dumb HDCP 2.2 software that is a roadblock in place to prevent people from recording 4k content…but you can still record 1080p? I digress.

Anyway, there are only 2 HDMI ports on this projector and if you want to unlock the full potential of this beast, you need HDMI 1 to work as it is the only outlet that allows for 4k upconverting, frame interpolation adjusting, etc.

HDMI 2 is basically a 1080p passthrough with limited picture customization. There are many cheaper projectors that are only 1080p, so I, nor you would spend the extra money to have a lost important feature.

I searched high and low for answers as to why I was getting a HDCP 2.2 error message. I use a roku, and could see the home screen, but trying to play anything, the screen would show an error. I tried many different HDMI cables, some from my house, Rockfish Certified from Best Buy, High end cables from amazon. Nothing worked, same error. I then plugged in a fire stick. HDCP Error messages again.

HDMI 2 port worked fine and I could watch anything and everything. I called tech support, I checked message boards. I couldn’t really find any documentation on this specific unit. So I returned it to swap for another unit.

Got home, plugged in HDMI 1 port with same cable and same Roku as before and viola! Worked normally. No issues.

5 star to Best Buy for taking the return making it a simple swap out for a different unit. But only 4 stars on the review as my first one was purely a defective unit that I could not fix.

My final diagnostics is that my first unit had some kind of software issue with the HDCP 2.2 technology that was not letting it complete the handshake between any outside source.

Other than that, when working, this projector is awesome. It has a great picture out of the box and there are a million adjustments you can make to suit your needs. It is easy to set up and get watching with presets, but a little tweaking can make it look even better.

Its heavy and rather large, but runs very quite and is bright enough for a theater room with some lights on.

  33. DLG7

Wow … hard to use words to describe! Worked great, very bright on my wall, great picture! Does so many things we have only scratched the surface! Great projector!

  34. TerryR

Replaced an aging Epson projector with this one and we are blown away by the image. My last projector was an HD, but having 4k is so much better. Best Buy had it in the store so super happy pick up and go! We have a 135” screen and the projector is ceiling mounted about 20’ away. Easy setup and focus for a great picture!

  35. PhillipH

Great Picture. Bright enough for a well lit room. Great colors. Easy set up

  36. BlakeW

Clear and crisp display. It also helps to be in a dimmed room.

  37. SweetCleaningServices

He is the bottom line If you wanna save 7to8 hundred dollars from the price of the 5050ub.its worth it.cons only 1 port will play 4k media.will not play 4k uhd from hbo max and hbo max does not offer those movies in just hd.also if you have bought 4kuhd movies on vudu it will only play at hd.roku player does not recognize any higher than 1080p hdr.pros.picture quality is 8 out a 10.almost all streaming apps play no higher than 1080p hdr and this is where this projector excells.i had a lg810 laser and you can barely tell the difference.also it does verry well with ambient lighting in the backround.

  38. CindyB

Fantastic colors and easy use. My previous projector was very old

  39. CharmellW

Great product, will recommend ths to everyone. Thank you.

  40. Nadienne

It may be a bit large and somewhat intimidating when you first open the box, but one you get it up and running, my oh my, is it glorious. The picture quality is clear and bright, and the projector fan itself is very quiet…I can barely hear it most of the time.

  41. SohilSachdeva

Great Projector for Home Theater at a great price.
    Excellent picture quality!

  42. SunitaN

Poor Quality. I bought this from Best Buy in 2020, and within a year it started having problems. The HDMI port (HDCP 2.2) stopped working, Epson replaced the unit with a refurbished one. Within a few months after that, the HDMI port (HDCP2.2) stopped working again. Recently it started shutting down automatically within10 / 15 mins after start.

  43. Visu

I have been using this for the past couple of years and is one of my favorite projectors..
    I have ordered another one

  44. Durgak

Very good picture quality and easy to installation

  45. PauloR

great projector nice colors and god brightness overall

  46. Bigfeetjack

I was disappointed in the brightness and color depth of this projector. I don’t think it is something I would buy ever again. Also, head’s up, if you buy it to see if it’s something you would want, they’ll hit you with a restocking fee so I would probably just buy from somewhere else.

  47. Kc4life

Amazing picture for football and movies. Great upgrade

  48. SunilM

Easy to install and setup. Awesomes picture quality.

  49. Chuckken

This projector claims to have 2.2 HDPC on it’s number 1 hdmi imput….”it does not”…couldn’t get a signal going in to hdmi 1….after hours of pulling my hair out, I finally got a signal using hdmi 2 port…but would not play firestick tv or netflix…warning kept popping up saying not 2.3 compliant…

  50. OjH1

This projector seems to work flawlessly. Even the young kids just turn it on and play their games seamlessly.
