I am a Registered Nurse who provides home care to local seniors. Part of my job includes printing medication lists and care plans and bringing them to my patients. The Epson ET-5800 to print, scan, copy and fax and with my laptop and cellphone; I have a fully functioning office. There are also regular needs for my family to have such a machine in the home. Printing, scanning, faxing. I save a lot on postage by scanning and emailing paperwork.
The size of the machine was a little offputting to start with but it is very easy to work with. I was use to using much small printer/scanner fax machines. I am very thankful for the wireless printing and connectivity options available with this machine. The machine prints rather fast. I would highly recommend it to any person working either all or part of their work from home.

Aside from the massive ink capacity, thanks to the Ecotank technology, this printer has business oriented features found in much larger and more expensive business machines. It will definitely be a huge boon to a small business owner looking to avoid expensive maintenance plans the come with the traditional business printer. With a larger laser based unit, you have to deal with potential issues regarding multiple paper paths, a fusing unit, an imaging drum, and a toner unit. Replace parts or getting maintenance performed from the first three areas is quite expensive and beyond the general knowledge of an average office worker. A machine like this is much simpler, but still have the features a business user would want. For example, scanning to a server or shared network drive, email, WSD, and even a connected cloud account like Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, or Onedrive. I spent the week (shut in with the current situation) scanning hundreds of papers. The ADF and platen scanning performed flawlessly. When scanning multiple documents that wouldn’t work through the ADF (irregular shape or too thick), the UI asks if you want to scan another page or finish. This is really convenient because I can just keep dropping the next document onto the platen and cruise along. In the past, scanning this many documents would have taken half a day, this printer did it in just a few hours.
My only issue with the printer is the UI which was clearly not designed with American’s in mind. The language is understandable but does not flow. Furthermore, the setup is easy but the UI makes the setup more confusing than it should be. Filling the tanks is crazy easy. I definitely recommend this printer for any office with anywhere from 10-25 users.

Purchased this to replace an Epson Workforce. Was looking for something with easier scan options and was very interested in the Eco Tank printers. So far this printer has done everything I’ve asked and more. I have a Mac and it connected fine with it via wifi with all options available after download of the software from the website.

The Pro series of Epson printers is the best I have used. They operate well and the print quality is second to none. If you print photos please note that the 5800 takes 90 seconds to print a 4×6 color photo while the 5850 takes 45 seconds. That is the only material difference between the 5800 and 5850.

Bought this for home use. Was really expensive, but it had the features we wanted. Works well. It’s running low on ink after only 4 months which is about 8 months sooner than I expected, considering the low print count. Still, it works well and does a nice job producing high quality prints. Would recommend if you need the features and are willing to fork out that much cash. There were less expensive models that had most of the features we wanted, but every other brand and model we looked at had poor reliability ratings.

Our office was using a smaller/older version of the Epson EcoTank and we really liked the design of the refillable ink cartridges. So when we needed a larger printer with a greater capacity we went with this model and it has worked really well. The setup was smooth and the print quality was clear. Some other reviews thought the screen was too small but I thought it was a perfect size.
In an initial large print, we did have some ink spillage on the corners of a couple of papers and we had to redo it but I was able to catch it and recorrect it. Also, I noticed in a couple of instances during a double-page print the back side print wasn’t straight so it’s taking a little time to become familiar with the settings.

I had to go to this model to get 2 sided to 2 sided copying in an Epson Eco tank. Pricey BUT I think after a couple of years, the ink cost will balance things out. It is large but has some features I really like such as a tray to catch the prints which extends itself automatically as well as the three choices of paper trays which eliminates the need to change settings if one wants to go from letter to legal, etc. Because the ink is so economical, I find myself doing more color printing.

I started out with a ET-4500. this printer was pretty efficient. Saves a ton on ink! Prints looked excellant. kept giving error of “out of paper”. Had to restart spooler often or just shut it down and restart.
wasnt very compatible with mailings. Best Buy had excellent customer service, and I made sure when I upgraded to ET-5800 to buy from them again for that reason.
Geek squad did an awesome job with assistance in settup for both printers, even though I didn’t need to pay extra except for the second printer kept giving an error message that it was out of paper. a second agent suggested to push the paper back further like 1/2 to 3/4 inch beyond the tray.
Probably didn’t need to buy the 30 day plan, although they helped to make some adjustments that had nothing to do with printer. everything is now working smoothly. This plan was 39.95 for 30 days, and well worth it.

I replaced an Epson Workforce printer that was several years old. I looked into several EcoTank Pro models and the ET-5800 seemed like the best option for my home office needs. It has really fast printing and easy to set up. Normally I have to call Geek Squad but the set up was completed without much trouble. The printing is fast and feels more like a larger office printer that a bunch of colleagues can share. It’s larger than the Workforce but still fit on my desk corner. Box also comes with 2 sets of ink which is helpful because the charging process eats up almost 45% of the ink from the tanks. The scanner function also works really well and saves onto a thumb drive or onto your computer through the Epson App scanner. Menu commands from the touch screen is extensive so it will likely take some getting used to change settings. Also the center tray can be pushed inside but automatically extends whenever you start to print. Overall a great printer that feels like money well spent.
