    I purchased this to use with a new Dell laptop, which did not come with a cd/dvd drive. While this is a small item, the price at BestBuy was considerably less than that on the Dell website (where I purchased the laptop) for the identical model. It’s compact and light and comes with Media Suite 22 software, cable, and instructions. It shipped and arrived quickly.

    It gets the job done and was well worth the reasonable price. Optical drive that was built into my laptop died. This one is both powered and interfaces via a USB port. Interface is slightly slower than the original drive. Now that modern laptops are no longer equipped with optical drives, the device has a future in my household as well.

    Something is wrong with the unit as I cannot get my computer(s) to read it. It keeps making sounds as if it’s trying to kick in but nothing appears on the screen. I think it’s a good unit if I could get it to work, but I think something is definitely wrong with the unit.

    I often borrow DVDs from my library, and this little player is great for watching movies on my laptop. It is lightweight and has seen some abuse (oops, it fell to the floor…more than once!) but performs perfectly regardless. Very sturdy and reliable for my needs.

    This is a slow device. It takes forever to extract the files from the CDs (or DVD). I got it as it was recommended by the GeekSquad member, and he uses it. I was going to get a more expensive one. I should have gone with the more expensive and highly reviewed one.

    This product takes too long. I operate a business and routinely get CDs with evidence (or data) to be reviewed. Unfortunately some of the people I need the material from use CDs still. It would have been better if they provided a link or USB to extract the files.

    Nonetheless, it’s on par with what one would pay for, but I wouldn’t recommend purchasing it if you’re trying to extract files. It is slow, and they advertise quietness, but it’s rather loud; I can hear it “ticking away.”

    New PC did not come with DVD drive. I still have old software that came on a CD/DVD. Was able to reinstall it using this. Worked fine.

    There isn’t much to say about the Dell-USB Slim DVD+/-RW Drive. If you need an optical drive this will work very well. It’s pretty much plug-and-play and works well.

    Simple, straightforward, and works as advertised! The set up was simply to connect to USB port. It took one or two reboots before Windows 11 would fully recognize it, but after that, everything went smoothly.
