I work from home all the time, since way before Covid. For all my conference calls I have used my home phone, my computer with a variety of different headsets. While they are good, they still don’t offer the convenience of having a good quality speakerphone.

When I saw this, I was immediately interested. I like the form factor of a small disc that has the cable included and wrapped around the inner underside. It also comes with a nice cover/carry case so you can easily throw it into your laptop bag.

Once I plugged this into one of my USB-C ports on my Mac, I did have to go into settings/Sound and select the Dell device for sound and microphone. Once I did that, every time I plugged in the USB-C cable into my mac, it was automatically selected. This made for a quick and easy way to jump into conference calls with Webex.

As far as functionality, the Dell Device serves as a USB Hub, allowing for a HDMI, USB and USB-C hub. All worked flawlessly with my HDMI from my monitor. Specifically, two USB-A, an HDMI 2.0 port and another USB-C.

I have been getting complements on my voice quality for the last two days of using this. The audio quality again is amazing. On the unit, it has touch buttons for call answer, call end, volume up/down and mute. I really like that when you mute, there are a circle of red lights around the unit so you KNOW you’re on mute, very helpful!

Overall I am very pleased as are the countless people I am on meetings with daily. This is well worth the investment, especially if you travel and really nice to not have a headset in your ear. I would highly recommend this, especially if you work from home as well as travel.

So, I got the Dell-Mobile Adapter Speakerphone and it works great. I plugged it into my PC that doesn’t have Thunderbolt, but it has a USBc slot. I have a Thunderbolt hub that offers the ports this does, but the speakerphone is the kicker. This PC has a Blue microphone, but usually, I have it disconnected. Plugging the Dell fixes that for me. Its small footprint is what I need on a daily basis.

So, the first place I went to was the Dell webpage for the MH3021P. There I downloaded the manual and found a firmware upgrade. It mentioned it’s needed to work with OsX. I have a Mac Mini late 2014, I5 Intel model connected to my main TV, so I did the upgrade. It took longer than I thought it should, but I just let it install on my Ryzen 7 PC, and finally, it finished. I then wanted to see how the sound was. I have a soundbar connected to this PC connected by Bluetooth and when I plugged in the Dell, it shut down the soundbar and fired itself on. It’s fairly loud at full volume. It’s got a nice led pattern to show the volume level. I turned it to about 40% to do the testing and it sounded great. First, I fired up iTunes and played a song or two. For what it is, it sounded good. I then wanted to use Alexa on this PC, but as I said, my mic is usually not connected. Not today! I opened the Alexa app and it saw the Dell just like it should. It walked me through the step and before I knew it, I was asking Alexa some basic tasks. I use both Google Home and Alexa throughout the house. I used Cortana too, but Microsoft shut that down. Then I tried it out on a Zoom call and being that it’s Zoom certified, I expected nothing less than a great performance. Again, it delivers. Nice to use it on the table/desk rather than earphones while still having echo canceling and noise reduction.

I love the raised control buttons on the speaker grill. At three and nine o’clock, there’s a phone answer and phone disconnect. At six o’clock there’s a microphone and then at five and seven, there is a plus and minus button for volume. The ports on the sides are (2) USB-A 3.1, HDMI 2.0, USBc, and (2) microphone openings. The microphones are omnidirectional. The cable winds nicely under the unit for storage, but if you’re like me, you’ll be leaving this plugged into one of your machines.

If you are remote working from home or use your PC for meetings, interviews, or other video conferencing, this would make a great addition to your war chest. I’d recommend it to my friends.

Like it or not, Zoom calls are here to stay. Even as in-person office meetings return, there always seems to be at least one participant on Zoom. And that’s where this Dell hub really shines.

The hub is well-designed for small conference room settings. The 360° mic captures voices from all directions. And because it is a hub, you can plug in an external display via HDMI, along with a couple of USB-A accessories such as a webcam.

    PROs
    • Excellent mic pickup in all directions. After taking several Zoom meetings from a conference room, no one on Zoom complained that they couldn’t hear a participant in the conference room.
    • Enough ports to consolidate a monitor plus webcam into a single USB-C connection into your laptop.
    • HDMI supports 4K at 60Hz (as does the USB-C connection).
    • USB-C port supports up to 90W power, allowing you to charge your laptop when using a power adapter (not included).
    • Echo cancellation and noise reduction work well. Again, never got any complaints from in-room or remote participants.
    • Volume and mute controls are handily accessible on the speakerphone itself so that you don’t have use your laptop for those functions.

    CONs
    • Unlike my other external USB hub (which does not have a speakerphone), I have to plug the Dell hub into a power adapter in order to use an external monitor with my external webcam. Without the power adapter, the external monitor works fine. But once I plugged in an external Logitech Brio webcam, the hub would not pass through its signal. It took a bit of trial and error to figure this out.
    • The max volume on the speakerphone is a bit low. It’s not terrible, but could be a little higher for conference room use.
    • The built-in cord that plugs into your computer is too short. At about 18”, flexibility is limited in positioning the speakerphone on a conference table, or even a desktop for WFH.
    • The control markings on the speakerphone (for volume etc…) are subtle. There should be more contrast against the gray mesh.

The world of virtual and hybrid meetings has made conference room and office setups just a little more complicated. Fortunately, this Dell speakerphone hub can help streamline your equipment into a single cord to plug into your computer.

  4. TayTay

The Dell-Mobile Adapter comes with a case, type C cord that wraps directly under the speaker, 1 port for you 4k tv, 2 ports for type c, and 1 for type b, and insturction book. The speaker itself on the top has a mute and unmute button using the symbol of a telephone, a plus and minus sign for volume. When connecting to a cell phone, computer, and or tv, it was quite easy. The speaker began to work immediately. The volume is good. Was able to watch videos, and make phone calls. Very nice. There were no issues experienced. I was amazed at how fast it was to connect the speaker. The speaker also charges fast. I like the portability of being able to place the speaker in the case and to carry it in my purse.

  5. TechGeek

This is a perfect devices for travel and home office use. It has an integrated speakerphone and a built in adapter dock for connecting monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc. I have it hooked up to two monitors for home use and carry it with me on business trips. I have 2 offices and this is a perfect device as it acts as a docking station and connects my laptop to the external monitors at work. I frequently take this to conference rooms at attend teams meeting.

Design – Compact, light and portable. Powered this dock with my 65W Anker charger and used the USB C connector on the speakerphone to connect to external displays (4k, 60Hz setting). Set-up was super easy, the PC autodetected the speakerphone and it was up and running in less than a minute. No dangling cords as you can wrap the cord around the speakerphone while carrying it around. Comes with a travel pouch.

Functions- Teams automatically detected the speakerphone, just had to test it for the voice quality. Used it on several teams calls. I switched from my Plantronics noise cancelling headphones to Dell speakerphone and people didn’t notice any difference. The voice was clear and it suppressed background noise. I used it in the conference room and didn’t have any issues with it picking up the voices from people sitting far away from the center of the table. The best part is the mute button, the lights around the speakerphone lights up red (red LED’s around the speakerphone), so everyone in the conference room were aware that we were on mute for internal discussions. It has all the function keys on the speaker itself – answer/hang up a call, mute, and the volume buttons. Haven’t tested the file transfer function yet, but the manual said it supports “super-fast file transfer” upto 10Gbps! The device also charged my laptop, the manual said it can deliver up to 90W, which should be good enough for most laptops. It also has an HDMI 2.0 port that I used to connect to a projector in the conference room. It doesn’t have an ethernet port, which I don’t care much. but could have used it if it were present, as my office desk had ethernet lines connected to the dell dock that I typically connect to. Wi-Fi eliminates the need for it as my laptop doesn’t have a ethernet port either.

Definitely recommend for travelers like me, very handy and don’t have to worry about carry an additional headset and an extension dock for additional ports to extend my compact laptop capability. Worth the spend, as it serves as a speakerphone and a dock in a compact form!

With the huge shift to remote work, I’ve often found my laptop speakers lacking, and the larger speakers a bit too loud, with constant feedback looping through my camera’s microphone. So, I’m happy to see a continued effort by manufacturers like Dell who continue to release devices to help ease the transition to fully remote work.

In the box, you’ll find the Dell Speakerphone, a zipper storage case, and a simple warranty card. I was happy to see this device worked both for Mac and Windows, having to use both for work often. In my case, the Macbooks microphone wasn’t doing the best job capturing my voice, given that I have it connected to a monitor, and use an external camera.

The benefit of the device is that it’s plug and play, immediately recognized as a microphone input and speaker. I’m happy to report this also includes an HDMI output, and also has the benefit of acting as a USB hub. The monitor output seemed to work flawlessly, and the included USB C and USB A plugs allowed for multiple devices to connect without any issues on my Windows Laptop. On my mac, I seemed to run into issues with power once I connected my Webcam and an external drive. I suspect this is likely due to the power draw exceeding what’s possible from the port, and not a defect of the device.

The speakerphone has 5 touch buttons, one for calling, call end, two for volume, and one for mute. You’ll see an indicator light when powered up, and the lights also indicate the volume setting. It even turns red when you’ve hit the mute key, which works flawlessly. The mute key was probably the biggest win, since you can easily just look down and see the red lights and not worry about accidentally broadcasting on a video call. So far, this has worked with Messenger, Teams, Zoom, Workplace (for those that use it), and pretty much any need for audio or mic input without the need to install additional software. The speaker is loud enough to hear clearly, and the volume can be adjusted using the buttons on the device. I did notice some odd volume behavior when using it independently for video calls only, with the volume only controlling my Mac’s volume, but not the device volume in the call. However, this wasn’t an issue on my Windows computer. You simply have to open System Preferences on Mac, and adjust the volume for the speakerphone under output device settings.

Overall, I’m really happy with the Dell Speakerphone, and the included case makes this easy to store in my work bag when I’m traveling remotely for work. I’ve been using this fairly non-stop now for over a week, and have yet to run into any issues with connectivity. I’d highly recommend this for anyone tired of wearing a headset during your remote video calls!

  7. PracticalSandy

This Dell mobile speakerphone has many great features and overall I would recommend, but there are some quirks and room for improvement.

    Pros:
    – Very portable, comes with a nice pouch easy to slip into briefcase
    – Sleek design with USB-C cable that tucks away conveniently underneath
    – Lighted controls that make it easy to see which feature is being utilized
    – Multiple port types
    – Plug n’ Play with no software to install
    – Works well with Zoom
    – Works well as a speaker/microphone standalone

    Cons:
    – I found the touch controls on top a little hard to see and they were almost too responsive. If you try to move the speakerphone, you inadvertently alter the controls
    – The volume control on the speakerphone only went from 0 to 16 to 34 to 50. No in-between increments unless I used the volume control on my Dell Laptop. Not sure if this is a flaw or if my speakerphone has a glitch.

The sound quality of the speakers was surprisingly good – beyond what I was expecting. I tried on both conferencing and on music videos and thought both were acceptable. Not high end, but adequate.

Overall a nice portable conference speakerphone with extra usability such as charging and speaker/microphone.

  8. Njmomof3

This does a fine job of serving as a speakerphone and port of connectivity in live meetings. There are five raised buttons that control volume, mute, and to turn on mic.
You can connect other devices to it as it has USB-A and C ports, and even an HDMI as well. It does come with a connection cord built into it (it is a short 2ft long fyi).
One thing I did learn along the way is that you need to download the latest drivers from the Dell website, which isn’t a huge deal but it does take away from the plug-and-play convenience of this speakerphone. It also does not have Bluetooth capability either, which I can almost get the same benefit from connecting my laptop to a bluetooth speaker. Otherwise, it has exceptional range and deep sound. Not convinced it is worth the price tag though.

  9. Winger81

The Dell Mobile Speakerphone is an absolutely MUST-HAVE for anyone who spends a lot of time on the phone and doesn’t necessarily want to wear a headset all day.

I spend a great deal of my day on the phone and have used many speakerphones over the years. The Dell Mobile Speakerphone definitely stands out as one of the best.

    Key Pros:
    – Excellent call clarity
    – Wrapped USB-C cable for easy storage (and no loss!)
    – Travel pouch
    – Great battery life (can go two or three days!)
    – Multi-port USB connections: USB-A x2 and even an HDMI Port
    – Seamlessly connects to computer – very easy set up
    – Works beautifully with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and WebEx

I use this device primarily as a speakerphone rather than all the additional capability it has with the additional ports and have to recommend this device for it’s outstanding call clarity as I mentioned above. A lot of speakerphones have that dreaded ‘talk-over’ effect when multiple people are talking but this Dell device seems to be fully duplexing and just like talking on a traditional phone.

An enthusiastic thumbs up from me!

  10. zaxdad

I typically just use the built in mic and speakers on my MacBook for using zoom or other conferencing tools. This is a welcome addition. It is a very clear and crisp speaker and puts the volume, answer, end and mute controls right there in front of me versus using the mouse or keyboard. Not that it is difficult using them, this is simply more convenient.

Although great for tele-conferencing, the most important thing about this device is that it’s not just a speaker, it’s a USB-C adapter that has multiple ports allowing power pass-thru to charge your laptop, connect an external monitor at 4K resolution or for external devices utilizing either USB 3 and 4 connection types.

There is one USB-C adapter for data, video or power, one HDMI port and two USB-A ports for other peripherals such as mice and keyboards or HDD’s. It’s a great addition to any home or business office setup. Definitely recommend giving this a try, you won’t be disappointed.

  11. Magneto

This is just such a great product. It is a jack-of-all-trades that will make your desk less cluttered and help in call conference and the overall work from home scenario. It is difficult to point out any flaws. It looks good, has a small footprint and has all the connection points one needs. The pass through power output might be a tad less than anticipated but is not a big deal as it was able to charge my laptop quite efficiently. It is portable as well and can easily slip into your laptop bag to be used outside. I find the USB hub use to be flawless. The speakerphone output is accurate and pleasant. The 4K connection worked seamlessly in my experiments,

  12. davenesf

I use this speakerphone during teaching sessions where I have remote instructors in addition to the classroom instructors and this thing is simply amazing. Sound quality is crisp and detailed, is absent feedback, and even minimizes echos in the room. I do not know how they do it, but it just works. The microphone (s) are incredibly sensitive but not noisy on the other end with extraneous noise picked up in the room. Speaker volume controls can be done with the buttons on the top or using your computer. Putting on mute lights up red LEDs to let you know microphone is off.

The USB-C cable wraps around the speakerphone nicely and stores in a pouch. I have a laptop that uses a pass-through USB-C power delivery and this speakerphone handles it no problem. I have not yet used the USB-A ports to power anything and do not know how much power they will supply, but if you are using a thumb drive or similar device, they work fine.

Bottom line – a compact well thought out and engineered speakerphone that is without peer – especially at this price. Being portable and self-contained is a real plus for us road warriors. The teacher gives this an A+.

  13. DITGUY17

The Dell Mobile Adapter Speaker is great. I’ve seen quite a few companies attempts to get the USB hub and speaker combination right. Dell has nailed it.

I’ve used the Mobile Adapter Speaker for about 2 weeks. I don’t have anything bad to say. All the ports work great. I used it on several different devices and all of them functioned well.

  14. OwNowBrownCow

This product has been extremely helpful when I’ve been at home and at the office. I get very wrapped up in what I’m doing around the house and at my desk so it is nice to have a hands free option for my calls. The volume is adjustable and and works really well. I like that it is very small and has a proper case to carry it in. It was very easy to set up. All I had to do was plug it into my phone where my charger would typically go. I was also able to plug it into my computer. It can also be used as just a speaker. I also used it for a few conference calls at work and no one complained about volume or not being able to hear from the other end. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a useful hands free conference call option.

  15. movieluver

The speaker is small and comes with a zip up protective pouch that you can take with you (it does not have a handle on the pouch). It is so easy to use, it’s basically a plug and play setup. It uses a USB-C connection to attach to your computer. However it also has two USB-A ports with a 10 Gbps speed, a 4k HDMI port, a USB-C port, and a microphone port. You can charge your phone via the USB-A and C ports. The sound on the speaker is pretty good for a small speaker. I was hoping you would be able to connect your phone to the speaker and use its microphone capability but it does not work. But you can have a zoom call on the phone via your computer. I would definitely recommend this speaker for multi functional capabilities and good sound. It’s simple to use and very lightweight and setup is just seconds long.

  16. Bryanmsi

This is a very thoughtful and useful device, combining a USB-C hub with a good-quality speakerphone. Plug USB-C power cable into this, along with external monitor and two USB-A peripherals. A single cable connects to your laptop, making a clean and simple desk setup. When travelling the cable stores nicely in the base and an included travel bag protects the device.

This is way better than laptop built in mics and speakers and makes video calls or conference calls much easier. A simple mute button shuts off the mics while activating a ring of red LEDs so it is clear when mute is active. Call volume is good and the speakerphone gets quite loud if needed.

No drivers required, just plug in and go.

  17. Pditomasso

Great product. Works very well in our large conference room. Very good quality sound.

  18. amartin500

Plugged in and recognized by laptop immediately. Great sound and works with either laptop volume control, speaker volume control or Apps like MS Teams.

  19. Showno22

Product ports do not work. I have called Dell multiple times with no help. Do not buy. Especially if you have a MacBook — the ports do not work and ended up being a waste of money.

  20. TLC22

This little disk has been a life saver. I work from home and travel often. This speaker has saved my life multiple times. Sometimes the microphone on my work computer doesn’t work. This serves as a great back-up. It has also came in handy to facilitate group chats and solved the missing speaker phones in conference rooms. This has made my life so much easier.

  21. JoseS

Great buy and easy to use. I purchased this in a pinch to use during a team meeting and conference call. It was an easy plug and play to my laptop via the USB/C port. There were no issues with listening to others through the speaker and they could hear us clearly with the mic.

  22. Headset

Excellent sound quality and speaker. Used for conference calls and it works great.

  23. diamond111

Good product. The price for 100$ is good. It is worth to buy.

  24. JNTcomputer

Best speaker device and multiple port connector. It supports multiple devices

  25. 1111

Good price price with discount. The adapter is a good product.

  26. Mike

After getting my new notebook I recognized that it not have as many ports as I was used to. This met the need for an external conference speaker and extra ports. I am very pleased with this purchase. My coworkers and I agree that the sound quality meets expectations on each end.

  27. Diego

Great speaker one caveat you need a USB-C for power

  28. Azim

Decent little puck, but doesn’t always light up the microphone and have to unplug and re plug at least once a day because no one can hear me thru it

  29. Dexmo

Works fine for its intended purpose. Worked with Regula laptop and a Chromebook – USB-C.

  30. Matt

This works great for powering my PC and using an external monitor. The mute also integrates with MS Teams, however the sound quality is not as good as Jabra speakers i have used in the past. I keep using it as it is only one device i have to carry instead of two.

  31. Scott

Great speaker and dock. It is a better way to work from home and attend meetings.

  32. Key1

Good product, worth to buy it with a discount. Amazing.

  33. John

This speaker is more than a phone speaker, Also serve as a usb hub. I connected it with mouse and keyboard, very convenient and portable. PC, Android, Mac, all work well

  34. Mike

I purchased this primarily as a USB-C hub to go with my Dell laptop from work, not really thinking I needed the speakerphone functions. It serves both task very well. Speaker and microphone sound good on Zoom and Teams. This will be a definite addition to my go bag when I travel for work,

  35. Adele

Was able to use this in a medium sized conference room when the in-room audio failed. Saved the day.

  36. Alpha902

Looks great, small but gets the work done. But type-C port for data transfer does not work on Custom PCs. Tried contacting with dell, did not resolve the issue.

  37. user789713

No comparable some case when disconnects and connect back

  38. bigE

    Dell – Mobile Adapter Speakerphone MH3021P – USB 3.1-type C -1x HDMI- 2x USB 3.1 -type A – Gray:

Really nice, but doesn’t have the sound quality I personally expect when I have a dedicated device.

  39. PatioFridge

Like the sound quality and the multiple ports for extended use

  40. JJBA

9 months in. No issues! Works and looks great! Bought another

  41. Midnyt69

Amazing speaker if you work from home and attend virtual meetings. Voice clarity, button functions as well the use as a HUB makes this a great portable device.

  42. Darcrio

I have not used it for video call, but in general it seems good, but not too sure if the regular price makes it worth it.

  43. Doulon

Unreliable. I had to return it as it would periodically stop working in the middle of a Zoom call. When it worked, it was great in sound quality and ease of use.

  44. AnilD

It’s having issues connecting to mac. Volume buttons are not working.

  45. Eman1987

Very good business meeting speaker and docking station. The only negative is the limited ports of 1 hdmi 1 usb c etc…

  46. GodofWar

I’m on calls all day long and always had many issues with audio before i purchased this speaker. The sound quality is good, noise cancelling feature works well, and I’ve not heard anyone complain about background noise during my calls.

  47. Mahmoud

Very low volume and picks up a lot of background sound

  48. Austen

Use this for work and it is absolutely amazing. No complaints!

  49. Zeek

After plugging this speakerphone in via USB C, I noticed my MacBook seemed sluggish and MS Teams began to freeze. I was only able to make one successful call before needing to unplug the devices to unfreeze my Mac.
