I was wondering why a speaker of this size would cost $300 until I took them out of the box. They are heavy with componentry, super solid construction and technologically advanced. A ton of performance in each speaker. They sound amazing and these in-ceiling speakers truly complete my Home Theater Experience! A must have if you want perfection!

Just unbelievable how good these speakers sounds. I was looking for the best Dolby Atmos set up. I first tried the Definitive A90’s speakers, which sounded okay. With the A90’s, it didn’t feel like the sound was around you. With four of these Definitive DI 6.5, the sound is exactly what you would expect in a movie theater.
So, if you are looking for true Dolby Atmos sound effects; I would add these to your system.

I bought 4 of these speakers to use as in-ceiling Atmos speakers in a 5.1.4 setup. These speakers sound great as Atmos speakers, but sound even better when playing music. During parties I set my Denon AVR-x6700h to all channel stereo and these little speakers play loud and clear. They are expensive, but worth every dollar!

Fantastic clarity, and shocking Bass!! I am thrilled with these. Voice matched to my BP10’s and Center too. Ultra-thin bezel on the cover grill. They look very “upscale” once installed if you even notice them. I’m using them for Atmos playback. My pup looks up at them often!

I started shopping for these almost a year ago when our house was under construction. I went to Best Buy to compare their in ceiling speakers. The Best Buy person recommended Sonance speakers, but the DI 6.5Rs just sounded much better. I felt the Sonance MAG series speakers sounded very muddy.
I ended up buying 4 of these for the great room. First, installation was a breeze. I was a little nervous taking a drywall saw to my new ceiling, but the template made things simple. I had run the speaker wires before the drywall went up, so that part of the task was already complete. I did use, and highly recommend, XTC 10 inch speaker baffles that create a protective cavity in the ceiling. With the holes cut, the baffles in place, the speakers just slid into place and the 4 tabs are holding the speakers nice and snug. Just don’t overtighten the screws. The magnetic grills snapped into place, leaving a clean, stealthy installation (see photo).
I hooked these up to a Yamaha RX-V4A. Not the highest end AVR, but acceptable for my needs in this room. The sound is already good and I am sure that will improve as they break in. My only concern is the bass. As you can see from the photo, the room is rather large. I am considering adding a subwoofer. I am not a big bass person, I keep my subwoofer in my theater room pretty low. I just feel a subwoofer will help these speakers fill the room with the low end.
Overall I am very happy with these speakers and I will be installing two more of these as my Atmos height speakers in my theater room.
I knocked off 1 star in value, due to the price. Perhaps it was the sticker shock of buying four of these at once.

I used these as ATMOS ceiling speakers and they do not disappoint.
Mounting was easy and the mechanisms are much higher quality than other speakers I have mounted.
The magnetic grilles make removal SOOOOOO much easier than the old paper clip hook method.
Very clean, flush look in the end and great sound quality.
They are a bit pricey, but it nice to have the sound matching with other Definitive speakers.
