    For the last couple of years my son has been using an old laptop from 2012 for his gaming. As the existing operating system became obsolete, I upgraded to the latest version. That significantly slowed down performance, so I had to upgrade the hard disk and RAM to 16GB. I chose the Crucial MX500 for the SSD and memory due to its reputation. I am glad that I did, because with the added hardware and a few minor tweaks the old laptop now flies!

    I use Crucial MX500 SATA SSDs very often. I’m sure I’ve gone through about 50 or so in the last year alone.

    They are the best option for a SATA boot drive available. Very fast speeds with a TLC 3D NAND memory and DRAM cache of 512mb AND an SLC cache too! The best value at even double the price from Samsung or WD to get all of that.

    I bought this see how my old slow and unwanted laptop would feel. I was impressed. The laptop felt brand new again. Load times were almost instant and I now threw the idea away that i needed a new laptop. Also had to buy a sata cable for cloning the old hardware which was not an expensive purchase and quite useful to have.

    I used this to replace a failing drive/enclosure that was no longer working on the USB port all the time. It was a cheaper alternative to the thumbdrives but probably uses a tad more power than a USB thumb drive as both would have worked for this instance because the data being used was only around 300GB.

    The ssd is an awesome upgrade … very easy to transfer and install in your old laptop …. You will notice the difference on load up speed…..It’s worth doing it.

    Upgraded an HP laptop with a Hard Drive that had moments of crippiling slow speeds to this and it feels like a brand new laptop. Made a huge difference, only complaint is that the Acronis disk imaging didnt work for me and I had to use a different software .
