Trimmer works great and the swappable head are easy to change out. Clean cuts, no snags or hang ups. Good selection of guards and even one to maintain stubble. My only gripe is the micro usb charging port, usb-c would be favorable but at least it’s not proprietary.

For a long time, I’ve been trimming and sculpting my own beard and the hair on my head with a old corded clippers. They do a fine job, but they’re old and the cord gets annoying. In addition, I use an old (probably 15 year-old) rechargeable nose hair trimmer that came in one of those gift sets you get around the holidays every year.

I thought I’d get this Conair trimmer to see whether I could replace the other trimmer and make some of the same jobs I use the clippers for a good deal easier. I had mixed results.

The first thing I did out of the box was charge the device for 3 hours, as recommended by the instructions. I also looked at all the attachments, and decided the ones I was going to get the most use out of as a person with a full beard were the nose hair trimmer and the adjustable guard. I don’t need the foil, and most of the other guards look too short because none of my facial hair goes to stubble length.

The instructions are not very clear about how the attachments are supposed to work, so I unscrewed the blade of the trimmer attachment to see if that’s how it works. It’s not. DON’T DO THIS, because putting it back together again was a pain. There’s a little spring inside that keeps the lower blade pushed up against the main blade, and it kept popping out when I tried to push the blades down to screw them back in.

In case you are also confused as to how the attachments work, just use a thumb to push up under the blade on the trimmer attachment. The whole thing pops up and comes out pretty easy. It would have been nice if they’d put a diagram of the process in the instruction manual.

Anyway, after a full charge, I got to work using the nose hair trimmer first. As other reviewers have mentioned, this attachment gets very warm as you begin to use it. It has a rounded metal tip with slots cut into the sides, and a piece inside the tip that turns with the motor and has two mini razor blades that spin and chop the hairs off. That causes some friction and friction means heat! I’m worried that if I left it on too long it’d get uncomfortably hot.

The weird thing about the nose hair trimmer is it’s hard to get your hairs into the attachment head. At first, I had very little success even getting this thing to cut hairs, but after a while and some careful use of a finger to push my nose into the right positions, I managed to get it to work okay. I also tried this attachment on ear hair, but it basically didn’t work at all there. I ended up using the regular trimmer attachment on my ears.

After that, I got to work on my moustache and sideburns. I have a very long beard, but I cannot stand unkempt sideburns. I use a technique to trim them first from just above my jawline up to above my ear using the longest guard, then using progressively shorter guards and starting progressively higher on my head so that the whole thing is blended evenly. The Conair trimmer did a pretty good job of this, and I’m sure with some practice, I could be pretty happy with the results. I do wish the blade surface was wider, as just one inch feels more like a travel tool than a serious home trimmer.

This trimmer should be fine for my facial and nose hair needs going forward, and I’m looking forward to see how well it holds a charge. The booklet says it should last about 60 minutes, which would be about 3 trimming sessions for me. It charges by micro USB, which is kind of annoying considering nearly all Android phones have now switched to USB-C and even modern Apple chargers use USB-C-to-Lightning cables. It just means you have to have the charger in the little included cloth bag for taking this with you on trips. At least it isn’t a proprietary connector!

All-in-all, this will replace my older nose hair trimmer and will mean I pull the clippers out of the closet a little less often. Unfortunately, I’ll still be using the unwieldy old clippers to cut my hair.

Sleek packaging, nice looking product. Micro USB charging with blue indicator light. One piece trimming guard was just right for trimming up the beard once I got used to the angle. Operation is pretty quiet and it does a great job of cutting hair. Easy to clean up and so far I haven’t had to recharge it. Nice product by Conair

Works great. Strong. Lots of attachments. Would buy again.

Conair’s All-in-one trimmer is a good buy if you are looking for versatility. This trimmer comes with plenty of accessories to meet all your grooming needs. The trimmer came with an ear/nose trimmer, 3 jawline combs, a shaving foil, stubble comb, and a 5-position adjustable comb. The trimmer also came with a USB-A to micro-USB cable, power brick, instruction booklet, and a carrying bag.

Upon first holding this trimmer, I knew I had a high-quality trimmer in my hands. This trimmer is made with high-quality metals, feels sturdy, and is nice to hold. A ten on quality for sure. The accessories feel cheaper but are decently made as well. One of my favorite parts of this trimmer is that the accessories can easily be switched out quickly and effortlessly. I have an old trimmer that requires a myriad of steps to switch out the accessories. Conair’s trimmer is as easy as pushing up and off.

Now for my experience using the trimmer. The trimmer is not as loud as some I have used in the past, and as someone who shaves early morning, this is great to avoid waking up others. My facial hair likes to get out of control when I grow it out. For the most part, I like to keep a clean-shaven face. I used the shaving foil for my face and was a bit disappointed. The foil shaver took a couple of passes for that “clean-shaven” look, but even then, it was not perfect. The nose/ear trimmer somewhat worked. This also took a couple of passes and there were times where it was snagging my nose hairs, not the best feeling. I felt like the motor needed more power and maybe then I would have had a better experience with these accessories. I then decided to line-up my hair with the 5-position comb. This surprisingly worked well, I was able to successfully line-up my hair without any problems. Also, some trimmers provide a cleaning brush. I wish Conair could’ve also provided a brush with this trimmer for cleaning. My old one is starting to look like an old broom.

Overall, Conair did an adequate job with this trimmer. My favorite parts about this trimmer were the various accessories and the ability to quickly switch them out as well the overall build quality of the trimmer. I felt the one item lacking from this trimmer, was more motor power. Adding more motor power might’ve solved the foil shaver and nose/ear trimmer problem I had. I had a better experience using this trimmer with my hair compared with using it with my facial hair. This may be the experience for you. If you need a versatile trimmer and have plenty of patience, this may be the one for you.

    I love this little trimmer.
It helps me keep it fresh On the Go or At Home.
The battery lasts, it’s got precision and power. All you need for a good price!

  7. CPWoody

I had the chance to test this product alongside another from the same collection and I experienced very similar results. It just so happened my previous stubble trimmer broke beyond repair the week before so the timing was perfect. On the plus side, this device comes with a lot of attachments – more so than any other trimmer I’ve ever bought. It’s a Jack of all trades, but unfortunately a master at none. Using the lowest guard that comes with it (stubble) i felt like I was on an endless journey to trim my facial hair. Both accuracy and cut length were questionable compared to my old device, which resulted in a lot of multiple passes over the same area and much more time to complete. It is a good product for what you pay, but it would be fair to say there are better ones out there if you are willing to spend a bit more.

  8. MrLowNotes

In my opinion it’s a nice little cordless trimming kit for keeping a beard, sideburns, goatee and mustache trimmed up around the edges and a unibrow at bay. This trimmer is also perfect for keeping the back of my neck trimmed up in between haircuts. But not for cutting a full head of hair or an entire thick beard.

Build quality feels pretty good overall. The comb-guard attachments are rounded and slide well on the skin but feel pretty flimsy because they are a soft flexible plastic. The guards are flexible and that will probably help keep them from breaking if dropped while on the trimmer. The only parts that are metal is half of the body, motor and other internals that need to be and the parts that cut. The rest is plastic. Overall the entire setup is smaller than what I am used to using which is a 25 year old set of corded Andis professional clippers. The Conair feels like a toy in comparison. However it’s not designed to compete with professional clippers.

    In the Box:

You get the rechargeable motor unit with three power heads and five combs. A charger, USB cord and bag. The bag is really thin and you would be better off finding something better to put it in. Especially if you plan on using it when travelling.

Power heads are: Clippers that you can use the combs with or alone, a shaving foil and ear-nose hair trimmer.
There are three jawline combs, a studly stubble comb and a 5 position adjustable comb.
Not in the box but listed is oil for the power heads. One reviewer said his kit was missing the bag. So do inventory your kit if you buy this. You can use light machine oil, like for a sewing machine, if your kit is missing oil. Heavier oil like 3 in 1 oil will get gummy over time.

    Using:

It will cut hair and whiskers ok if you go slow. The thicker the slower you will need to go. Keep in mind this is a trimmer. 😉
Same for using its shaver attachment to use it as an electric razor. It will work but it will take you a long time to do your entire face. Especially if your whiskers are thick like mine. It did shave it pretty close but not as good as a wet razor.
I think this kit might work well for trimming small children’s hair and even a full haircut.
Ear and nose trimmer worked ok but would pull occasionally. Not fun when doing nose hair!

See included instructions for use and maintenance. Especially charging the battery. See link below.

    https://files.bbystatic.com/3Sr9sNTperuMtR%2Bd56z0fw%3D%3D/GMTL30

I have included some photos to illustrate why the bigger clippers work better for bigger jobs and what comes in the kit.

    Conclusion:

I think what you get for what you pay is good as long as you know its limitations. It’s not as mighty as the box and description would have you believe.

  9. Curly6509

This is a nice nooking trimmer. I like that it comes with a lot of great attachments. It gives you a lot of options for beard trimming from stubble length all the way to a pretty long length.
It did pull a little but that may be something that can be overcome by learning how to hold it. It comes with a drawstring bag to hold the trimmer and attachments. I would prefer a case so that I could easily see and choose the attachment that I needed.

  10. MikeyJFla

The unit is very sleek and has a nice feel to it. After using the trimmer that was included with the hair cut kit I previously used, this is a huge step up. You can tell this has a lot of power.

I mainly use it to trim my side burns, so I can’t comment on all the attachments that it includes. I did try the nose hair trimmer, but I felt that it wasn’t as good as the standalone one I already have.

It uses a USB charging cable, so it is nice that you don’t worry about needing a proprietary charger if you loose the bundled one. Although I wish it was usb-c.

  11. UncleBrenty

Metalcraft High Performance All-In-One trimmer sounded like what I was looking for in a new trimmer. Cordless/rechargeable so I don’t have to keep replacing batteries. Professional All-In-One hair trimmer with self-sharpening stainless steel, etched blades. High torque motor to cut through the bushy gray hair that won’t leave my head. Has ear/nose trimmer, 3 jawline combs, shaving foil, stubble comb, 5 position adjustable comb, storage pouch and USB adapter. First challenge was getting the instructions out of the box. The trimmer and all the attachments are inside the box behind the clear panel but the instructions are hidden inside the carton and I ended up just ripping it open to get them out. Charge battery using the cord and USB adapter until the blue light stops flashing and is solid, about 3 hours for full charge. Oiling the blades instructions don’t apply since included oil not found in box. Blades snap out by pushing away from trimmer and snap in by inserting and pushing down. Tried the shaving foil first.
Using up and down strokes on my “mask beard” it didn’t really do much to trim the hair hidden by my mask. Switched out the head back to the etched trimming blade and tried the stubble comb with a little more success but finally just buzzed it all away with the blade and no attachment. Tried 5 position adjustable comb on my 3 week growth of hair at various settings but you really have to force it on and may not get the notch you are trying for. Really didn’t do much except give me a patchy cut so I gave up and just used the etched trimming blade to buzz it all away and down to a nice stubble on my scalp.
Last I tried the nose and ear trimmer attachment which comes apart (for cleaning?) Insert the white plastic tube with the blade in the end into the rounded ear/nose hair trimmer then insert into trimmer after aligning the post to the shape in the white plastic. Harder than it looks. This trimmer actually works well once you determine how to safely insert into openings. All in all I’m a bit underwhelmed by all the features that don’t do much but using the etched trimming blade after I buzz away my gray with my other clippers gets it down to a nice stubble and the ear/nose trimmer does a nice, even job. Not sure how to clean the hair out of the blades since there is no brush included even though it instructs you to brush away. Just noticed instruction 5 hidden at top of English instructions on foldout “Use trimmer for facial hair only”. Maybe they could put that on the box?

  12. Caladbolg

I’ve had similar results with cheaper products. None of the attachments are added for fluff. These are exactly what you need in a base kit. It would be nice if it came with a case at this price. But it gets the job done and the built quality is decent.

  13. Sean

I have been using the same trimmer for quite a number of years now and am happy to have a change. So far I am happy with this ConAir Trimmer. In the box comes the trimmer, a charger, different jawline guards, an adjustable length guard, a nose trimmer, and a foil shaver head.

The build quality is excellent. It has a nearly all metal body that has a premium feel to it. Aside from that it is also a good looking trimmer. The blades are self sharpening stainless steel and cut effortlessly. This comes with several attachments that are sturdy and fit extremely well on the main unit. It is great how easily the attachments are changed. This makes for quick work when trimming up. This is a very quiet trimmer and I can use it whenever I need to without worrying it will be too loud. There is a bright LED light that flashes to let you know it is charging and turns solid when it’s charged and or on.

Overall, I think that ConAir did a great job with this trimmer. It’s sturdy, cuts well and has nice attachment options to do most any jobs.

  14. IBEWSuper

First time owning a rechargeable all-in-one and am very pleased. I like the stylish design, feel, weight and overall performance. The impression that I get is “solid” for something of this type. This is not an item you will find in a salon or shop and it does not claim to be but what it does claim to be it absolutely is, for your home. The rechargeable battery is great and holds a charge for a long while. Included is just about any attachment that you should ever need and if not then you should likely be at a salon and not at home. Overall I am very happy & would recommend!

  15. CKent

Great trimmer overall. Blades are sharp and trim down to a very straight precise line. Most importantly, it doesn’t snag any hairs as it works. I have a thick beard and my last couple trimmers had this issue and they hurt. I can’t begin to say how happy I am that this trimmer doesn’t do that. It cuts right through each hair effortlessly. It also makes shaping my beard much easier. And when you have that one pesky long hair sticking out, it takes care of that easily too with only the slightest touch.

Battery wise it’s actually holding a charge for a long time. After several days of use I have yet to fully run the battery down. That is after I did fully charge it as soon as I got it. It also uses a micro-usb charging port, which is really nice since most of us have other devices that use the same type, at least I do.

The one negative I have with this trimmer is that when you have it plugged in to charge, it won’t turn on. The battery holds a charge pretty good so this isn’t normally an issue, but we all eventually let our devices run out of battery charge. If you let that happen and are mid-trim, you can’t just plug it in and finish up, you’ll have to wait for it to charge a bit first.

Other than the one negative this is otherwise a great trimmer. It does exactly what you’d expect it to and does it well. If you’re in need of a trimmer you can’t really go wrong with this one.

  16. Spartan114

I’m upgrading from a plastic Philips trimmer and this feels great right out of the box. The weight is balanced and of high quality. It looks very nice when left out on the white countertops. Attachments pop on and off with a snap, though the foil shaver isn’t good for much more than a sideburn trim or beard sculpting. Get an actual shaver for anything else. A blue LED indicates the charge and power and a carrying case provides ample room for the attachments.

  17. Serv

The first thing I really liked is the construction, it is made mostly metal and some plastic, it feels nice, it feels like a high quality product, it has a regular weight considering is a wireless trimmer, I don’t think it was made to use in a barber shop for log periods of time it is more a domestic and personal product, it gets the job done flawlessly, of curse it is going to depend on each person but in general it is a great trimmer for the price and best thing is that comes with various useful accessories that makes it even more worth it, It comes with a usb charger cable.

The blades are strong but they don’t hurt when trimming, it easy to clean it and has a little bag to store the trimmer or take it with you if necessary, I can recommend this Conair Metal Series trimmer.

  18. mrcarnut

This Conair trimmer is beautiful to look at. It is very well made and is well weighted. The trimmer comes with a lot of attachments. I already have a high end nose trimmer and foil shaver so don’t see myself using these attachments often. The trimmer itself does a outstanding job of trimming my beard and mustache. After the trimmer arrived I followed the directions and charged it. There is a blue light that tells you it is charging and when the charge is complete. The unit comes with a nice storage bag for the USB charger and trimmer. It would also hold all the attachments if needed. I have had several trimmers over the years and I can say this is the best I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this trimmer.

  19. GlennT

Great when used for beard trimming. Bunch of different lengths, you could even clean up a bad haircut or just getting too long avoiding the barber.
The nosehair and foil shaver attachment seem a bit cheap, but other than that, very good product!

  20. Harrison

    This trimmer is great!

The build of the trimmer is high quality. They used metal and stainless steel to make it feel like a premium product. It has a nice weight to it. The attachments interchange seamlessly with the motor base.

In all of my testing, the blades were sharp and created a very even cut. The self-sharpening blades is a nice feature.

I used these trimmers to shave my head. The cut it produced was nice and even. My only complaint was that due to the size of the blades, it took a bit of time. I expected that based on the form factor. But most importantly, the results were consistent.

The nose/ear trimmer worked as expected.

The stubble shaver worked great. I really appreciated the 5’clock shadow the trimmer produced for me.

The battery life on these trimmers was great. It easily lasted the length of my cut, stubble shave, and cleaning up the neckline with ease.

Overall, this is a great option for those looking for an all in one solution to their grooming needs.

  21. ukfireman

I have used this to keep my beard in check and does a wonderful job. Nice clean look once complete!

  22. Jre1025

This little trimmer is great!! I didn’t expect the power to be so strong being on a rechargeable battery but it is very impressive. I love the look and how sturdy they felt also. My husband charges it on the weekend and is able to use this to trim his beard with the guard on and then go without the guards and can shave the stubble off his neck almost completely for almost 2 weeks with daily use. I think they’re great for shaping his hairline up between haircuts also. It’s so easy just to pull them out vs having to get the full size clippers down from the cabinet. Powerful, great little set of trimmers for sure, highly recommend.

  23. Turbolence

ConairMAN is a new line of products aimed at those who trim, clip, and cut their own hair at home. Advertised as using higher-quality blades and craftsmanship than their everyday offerings, these new clippers and trimmers stand out with no-nonsense designs and hefty weighting to make them feel closer to premium, professional hair tools than your typical value-oriented ones. While their corded clipper and nose trimmer are both great products that get the job done rapidly and cleanly, the same can’t be said for this cordless clipper, as it struggles with basic needs and takes many more passes to do the same job that other cordless clippers have little trouble managing.

With a narrower head than a corded clipper, I expected the same jobs to take longer, but even with the sharper blades afforded by the ConairMAN line this clipper simply doesn’t have the power to cut through hair all too well. It takes multiple passes to clip through to the right length, which wouldn’t be too much of a problem except that the blades clog very quickly and begin tugging, painfully, on hair. Compounding the issue is that the clogs don’t easily tap out, mandating a full stop to grab a brush and clean out the head. I had to do this five or six times when shaving my head from about 1/8th of an inch of hair growth, so I can only imagine how much worse it would get trying to get through anything thicker. It does cut pretty close at least – the finished length at its closest setting is on par with my professional clippers I use in lieu of shaving my head proper.

I had less trouble when using the clipper comb attachments to trim my beard, but it still took a long time to cut to the results I wanted. The motor simply isn’t strong enough – bumping up the power another 30% would have done the trick even if it came at the expense of battery life (which is already pretty strong – an estimated 45 minutes of runtime between charges. Plenty for the average home user). At least the battery is lithium ion so it provides consistent voltage as it drains that keeps the motor from slowing down and exacerbating the performance and clogging issues.

One upside is that this clipper charges using microUSB, which was a pleasant surprise. Although its performance as a primary clipper leaves much to be desired, I can see this working quite well as a travel companion for longer trips. It recharges in less than two hours from the included charger, which is a common 5-volt, 1-amp USB brick that can be swapped for basically any USB charger and still get full charging performance. I would have liked to see USB-C, but we’re still a little ways off from abandoning microUSB entirely and I do appreciate that this doesn’t use a barrel plug.

Ultimately, the ConairMAN High Performance Rechargeable Hair Trimmer is difficult to recommend as your primary clipper when it struggles as much as it does. It makes for a decent traveling clipper, but I can’t help but think there are better options out there (albeit perhaps a little more expensive). I would suggest finding a compact, corded clipper for the same task if you’re traveling domestically, but the universality of how to recharge this clipper does make a good case for international travel. I would still recommend spending a little more for a higher performing travel clipper, but this will do the trick if your budget or your time are of the essence.

  24. TaterMcTatums

The Conair MetalCraft trimmer is a solid choice for anyone looking for an all-purpose, portable trimmer. It comes with enough attachments to handle any grooming task and keep you looking your best. Swapping heads is a cinch; just pop off the one and the other snaps into place in seconds. The motor is strong enough to tackle bushy beards without getting snagged or bogging down. It can even handle cutting your hair if you need it to. The metal body makes the unit feel sturdy and gives it just the right amount of heft in your hand. The lithium-ion battery charges quickly but also lasts long enough that you needn’t be concerned with keeping it plugged in constantly. This makes it a great traveling companion for those on-the-go. What I really like is that it doesn’t use a proprietary charging connector, just a Micro-USB B. I don’t plan on misplacing the charger but if I do, I like that I can use a cord that I already have instead of being stuck buying a replacement. The blades seem to be incredibly sharp, which is what you want from your trimmer. However, when using it without a guard to do precise edge cuts and such, the blades feel a bit ‘bitey’ on your skin. They don’t seem to break the skin or cause any bleeding, but it is not the most pleasant feeling. That is the only thing I didn’t really care for with the Conair MetalCraft trimmer. Other than that, it is a great trimmer and I have no qualms about recommending it.

  25. ZachG

As someone who shaves both the hair on my head and on my face on a regular basis, I’ve been searching for my white whale for years – a trimmer that works equally as well on the soft hair of my head and the coarse hair of my face. Sadly…this is not that white whale.

This trimmer works great at sculpting – trimming the shorter hairs around my beard, trimming around my ears and neck, etc. It seems to struggle with trimming my beard hairs with the guard attachments, but I’m willing to chalk that up to how coarse my hairs are.

Where this falls flat for me is using it to shave the hair on my head. After only a half inch or so of shaving, the blades catch and it’s pretty painful.

It’s a useful tool for the things it does well – I just wish it did more things well than sculpting.

  26. Holmes

Great for trimming and cleaning up around the edges.

    Works better than I expected!!!!!!!
    Highly recommended!

  32. Not2Happy

Not sure why but I went to use it on my goatee and it nicked my chin twice so I returned it.

  33. Parrot1

It was worth the price I paid for it. Easy to use. Lightweight.

Conair – Metal Series High Performance Rechargeable Hair Trimmer Dry – Silver. Works excellent trimming my beard and mustache I truly recommend.

  36. khoaD

Been using it several time. Work great so far. I have no problem with it

  37. Greeneyes

Garbage, does not get the cut close enough to the skin.

  38. shark

LIMITED USE SO FAR, BUT SEEMS TO BE VERY GOOD FOR CLOSE TRIM. ALSO SO FAR HOLDS CHARGE VERY WELL.

  39. MishB

Bodies for my husband as a Father’s Day gift from our daughter. They’re absolutely wonderful and they are precise and they’re cutting. We haven’t had any problems with it. I would highly recommend it.

  40. ASIF

Decent trimmer. Bought this when it was on sale. Nothing fancy but just a normal trimmer.

  41. Sanchez1994

Works really good clean cuts and shaving and no red bumps after

  42. Tedd

I was skeptical because theyre not the more know name for great quality clippers or groomers. Im not a skeptic anymore. They cut close, clean & have wonderful long battery life. At least long enough for me to use them 3 times without charging.

  43. Androidguy

Don’t bother with ANY Conairman products.. Cheap junk.. Lasted maybe a month until it fell apart and got thrown into the trash!

  44. DerVer

Battery life is not good, always has to charge before almost every use. It also is not best suited for sensitive skin. Left me some nasty razor burn. Cuts really well but that’s about it

  45. Adil

It did not have enough power and I cut my hair for one time the second it didn’t work

  46. Robert

after a few months of use just trimming the beard it started pulling the hair more other then cut it extremely painful i stop using it

  47. RemiT

I bought it to try and I end up really liking the machine .

  49. Ikim

Very weak and not a clean close trim. I liked the extra accessories

  50. FranKim

Great for the price. Good but safe and hold charge for a long time. Also easy tonclean.
