    So far this has worked as expected. Seems high quality for sure. A bit heavier then I expected probably mainly because it take four batteries. I will say the battery life has been a lot longer then I expected. Using a flash definitely makes a difference with inside photos with my mirrorless camera.

    For the price, this is a great entry level flash for beginners of flash photography such as myself. Easy setup and controls as well as flexibility of off camera remote use. I am looking forward to getting creative with upcoming projects.

    I have had extensive experience with SLR film camera and an external flash beginning in 1969 and finally changing to DSLR when digital cameras could finally compare with SLR film in 2006. I had used an off brand external flash with the SLR and was very pleased with it. However when I bought my Canon DSLR, I paid more for a Canon Speedlite and was very happy with it. After a few years the Speedlite quit working and I bought the same brand of external flash I had been using with my old SLR but it couldn’t compare with the Canon flash. So, now I paid the price for the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT and again have an excellent flash. The built-in flash on the Canon camera is OK for closeup work but it cannot compare with the external flash for anything beyond “arms length”.

    I bought another brand flash unit that I thought would work with my camera, I was wrong it did not match up, and the photos were consistently dark. Took it back and got the Canon unit, it works flawlessly. Should have bought it first and saved myself some headache. The Canon unit is a very sturdily built piece of equipment. I am very pleased and would purchase again.

    Worked exactly as I had hoped. Makes photos much better when photographing indoors or at night. Used it to photograph an indoor event in LA. My Canon camera and flash pair up perfectly with the flash really seeming to nail the exposure nicely. Not the most expensive of the flashes but great bang for your buck

    This is the updated model of the 430 flash that I currently own. I’ve owned the original for almost 20 years, it still works fine, but cannot compete with current DSLR camera speeds. The 430EX III-RT works marvelously! Definitely worth the price!

    Speedlight fit just right on my canon Eos R. Flash is pretty powerful, the flash recycle time is great, and there is a lot of flexibility for rotating the angle up/down/sides/and around. Would like a rechargeable option in the future, as double AA batteries are needed.
