This is a GREAT prime lens!! If you are a portrait photographer then this lens should be in your bag. It has great compression with impressive bokeh. My images have been tack sharp and the lens has not left my R5 in days.

Yes, this is a very expensive lens but the result is amazing. From the high aperture providing a creamy bokeh, the DS coating smooths it out even more, to the high quality of the glass with no distortion or vignetting, this is a must have for professional photographers or enthusiasts with deeper pockets. I have nothing negative to say about this lens.

I struggled between the DS and non DS version. Wasn’t to excited about losing 1.3 stops of light. For me I will be using this lens mostly outside and at f1.2 on bright sunny days my shutter speed is at 8000 or under. Had I purchased the non DS version I would have to close the aperture which defeats the purpose of getting that dreamy bokeh. This lens is stated to be even sharper than the non DS version so I went with this one. I purchased the RF 50 1.2 to handle the low light scenarios if needed. Absolutely love this lens
