    Ahhh, the 50mm f/1.2 we’ve all been hoping for!

    As a longtime wedding and portrait photographer, my EF 50mm f/1.2 lens was always my MUST have. I used it at every session and could shoot an entire wedding with it by itself if need be. BUT I always felt the EF version had poor focus and soft edges when zoomed in close. I had to recalibrate it multiple times a year and it still wasn’t accurate.

    In comes the RF version and BLOWS ME AWAY. It’s expensive, but honestly worth every penny for the crispness and accuracy. I have fallen in love with the focal length all over again and love it on my mirrorless cameras. Totally worth the splurge!

    This lens is a beast. From the hefty price tag, to the hefty weight, to the phenomenal image quality and amazing bokeh. Not an action lens or a carry around lens, unless you don’t mind carrying around a tank. Focusing is very fast, but not instant like other RF L lens and it also makes noise so not very suited for videos recordings unless you use a separate mic. No image stabilization. Each RF L lens has its own specialty, and this one is image quality.

    If you want unbeatable image quality and don’t mind breaking the bank, this one’s for you.

    As a shooter who never really dove in to the 50mm world, I was hesitant to pick this one up, but after watching/reading every review out there, I knew I had to have it and I wish I would have gotten it sooner. It’s magic!

    If you need the best bokeh and/or a lens that can see in the dark, this is it. Takes amazing portraits and is great in low light situations like a concert.

    Amazing lens, a bit expensive compared to the EF model but you really notice the difference in the RF line. Paired this with an R6 and the shots are absolutely stunning.

    What can i say that you may not already know! Canon makes beautiful lenses that are top quality…the only downside ofcourse is the price , the RF system is expensive but if you want good quality its going to cost you.

    Ive been a 50mm shooter for decades. In all of my film cameras, thats what sits on there. Zooms are great, but i thonk my eye is just used to it. This 50mm is the most amazing lens i have ever used. Seriously. The price is for you to decide, but man can this thing do amazing work. Its going to take a serious situation to get it off oc my camera…

    My new favorite lens for videos. It’s awesome. It does make clicking sounds when it auto focuses- so your mics can’t be on top of the camera. I use boom mic or lavalier mic on my chest to avoid the clicking sounds. farther away from the lens the better. But it looks great!

    I was checking out reviews in youtube for this lens and decided to move forward because you know… it was a little bit of improvement over the RF 50mm 1.8. But oh man… it’s just a completely different beast. It’s just a HUGE difference. It feels like I have never taken a photo until I got this lens. It’s just a masterpiece, and if its important to you to impress people with your images, then its a must.

    For someone like me, who doesnt use an 85mm as often, it made sense to buy this one instead of the 1.2. When i do use the 85mm, all images are sharp and beautiful. Im also very impressed at the macro capabilities.

    Amazing piece of glass, 50mm is my favorite focal length, 1.2 aperture is insane with the bokeh, Have done about 11 shoots with it now, and I can definitely say its one of the sharpest lenses i’ve ever used in the last 10 years, comparing it to about 12 other L lenses for canon. I will say the focusing is rather slow for anything fast paced, but the lens is so heavy that I dont see it as a con.

    Amazing build quality, stunning image quality, fast aperture lens. I decided to get a lens that went to F1.2 and my only regret is now I will be buying more F1.2 lenses. This lens changes the game in low-light, allowing me to drop ISO several stops and get cleaner shots. Depth of field can get so shallow at f1.2 that, if you’re not careful, only one eye on a person’s face will be in focus. I’ve seen some reviews complaining about the plastic build. As I can tell, it’s only a plastic outer shell. It seems to hold up against scratches and abrasions really well so I’m impressed. Overall my only complaint is the price, but I’m very happy with the results I’m getting with it. My new favorite lens!

    Clean and sharp images..unless you’re a serious photographer, you can use the base 50mm for under 1/10th of the cost which is under $200 and get nice photos…this lens around $2k would be a waste if photography isn’t a passion of yours
