    Des what it is supposed to do, allow for macro shooting. I have not played much sith the new feature that changes the bokeh. May try that on portraits. I have the EF version butam looking yo get a few piecesof native glass. The lens feels good and the minimum focus distance is excellent

    Lightweight, solid build. Amazingly sharp both as a 1:4 macro and a 100mm f/2.8. Stabilizer and AF work well when hand holding close up. Auto focus speed between close up and infinity is impressive.

    Didn’t really need this lens as I had the EF 100mm f2.8L Micro IS version. Gave my daughter the EF version for her 7D2 and hoped this would be an upgrade.

    So far it is solid, focuses fairly quickly, and takes the same polarizing filter size as the EF version. It may be a little longer/bigger, but not significantly. Images seem sharp, does well in low light with the R5 with both lens IS and IBIS.

    This RF 100 F2.8 lens is the ONLY lens in the world that is 1:4 ratio. Other macro lenses are 1:1. It’s amazing, super sharp, and stands proudly in the space created for it with the EF 100 F2.8.

    I bought this lens for reason my TAMRON 90mm macro started to collect dust particles AND started to fog up internally. I have the 90mm for years and it was time to upgrade. By far the Canon RF 100mm is sharper than rhe Tamron 90mm. The autofocus is spot on although I manual focus 90% of the time.

    One of my favorites lenses to showcase the super tiny details. It’s super sharp in both video and photos. The slider to change the blur style is crazy cool! Definitely recommend it. Oh also awesome for portrait shots

    Amazing piece of glass very fast and accurate focusing. The result I’ve seen from this lens are absolutely stunning you want be disappointed with this investment. If want to try your hand at macro photography this lens is well worth the money in my opinion but the attached images speak for themselves. These were taken very quickly hand held full manual settings with a Cannon R5 body. The Cannon RF 100mm L Macro will change the way you see the world around you.

    First of all, I’m pretty sure Best Buy is repackaging open box or refurbished lens as new. Mine had brown tape on it that looked like it was previously opened.
    Other than that, the lens is great. I mostly use it for Macro shots. I’ve used this in a somewhat dark room and struggled to get the shot. I was second shooting at a wedding so the shot was not too important thank goodness. Needs tons of light to work properly or you risk missing the shot while this lens struggles to rack and find focus.

    Takes really good pictures. . Sometimes the auto focus is a little tricky but that’s probably just my lack of experience. Also, on the R7 resume is a little tight but overall it’s a really nice lens.

    Another great lens to add to the collection if you’re wanting that close-up detailed shot. Can be used for anything, I like to incorporate it for ring photos for weddings. Canon as always is a great quality item and I’ll always stick with this brand!

    – Good focal length for Macro, Portrait, etc.
    – Lightweight
    – Excellent image quality, sharp
    – f/2.8 fast aperture, nice BOKEH blur
    – SA control (varianble BOKEH blur)…don’t have much experience with it though…
    – IS image stabilized
    – Macro 1.4:1 (40% larger than life size!!)
    -Customizable ring on lens, like for ISO or aperture etc.

    CON:
    – appears not as sturdy as EF version which had some metal in body (but no problems so far)

    So far, I have only used it once on an outing. Very sharp focus as to be expected for an L lens. The spherical aberration (SA) ring, as others have mentioned, is a wasted feature for me. Also, it would have been nice if Canon would have included the tripod mounting ring with the purchase as with most other Canon L lenses.
