Excellent lens combined with the canon r5. Fast autofocus. Impressive.

Having some problems with focusing. Trying different camera setting to fix it. When it focuses properly it is extremely sharp, when it doesn’t its very soft and grainy. Returned the first lens because of a defect. This is the second lens. I’ve owned and used Canon cameras and lenses for years and this is the first problem lens I have encountered.
CarlL –
Thos lens is the best. Better shots than the 100 to 400mm lens. A bit heavy but still very manageable!
Eliz –
Great pairing for my Canon RF5, this 100-500 L lens brings the wildlife up closer, and the combination is just lovely for birds as well as larger wildlife. Extremely pleased with the sharpness, focus, and excellent quality.
MichaelD –
Unbelievably sharp all the way out to 500mm. Shocked how good this lens is – not sure why anyone would need the 24-70mm 2.8 – it’s that good. Love it. Can’t wait to take it out west to the national parks this summer. It’s also surprisingly small for a 100-500mm – it’s down right tiny compared to the Sony 200-600 and even sharper. Canon magic!

This is a great telephoto lens for shooting wildlife and the moon. It has all the bells and whistles like all of the other Canon L lenses and a few more. It is a bit pricey but I purchased it with my Best Buy credit card and picked up a lot of bonus points. If you can afford it its a nice lens to add to your camera bag.
RobertM –
This is an excellent versatile lens and purchasing it from Best Buy was a positive experience.

Best lens for birding and landscape! A bit heavy, but well worth it. Unbelievable reach, especially when coupled with an extender.
flyboy72 –
I am using this lens paired with both and R6 and R7. I had a Tamron 150-600 G2 lens and had focusing issues. Purchased this lens and all the focusing issues have resolved. Super fast silent focus with top notch sharpness.
KadeP –
Love it! Beautiful lens, I haven’t made a zoo or wildlife trip yet but it has been exactly what I hoped for. Very heavy for me but it’s to be expected… perhaps I will get a tripod
I am a pet photographer for myself and other breeders
And I had the chance to do a few photo sessions with it and it’s everything I hoped it would be, every whisker and every hair. You won’t be disappointed

This is a great lens. The eye/face detection is amazing.
I use this lens for nature, mainly bird and butterfly pictures. The auto focus tracking is out of this world 🙂
Took me a minute to figure out if you just wait (less than a second it locks on to the eye) the you hold auto focus and it tracks it.

By far the greatest line own yet! And most expensive but it’s worth it!
Taylor –
By far my favorite lens! Easy to use and auto focus is pretty quick. Zoom and quality are great! I mostly use it for action shots.

I am loving this lens. It’s a lot heavier then I expected but I’m okay with it. I upgraded from the 100-400. Feels really well built. Takes great shots. I think the fun factor is worth the $$.
TechEnthusiast –
Canon L lenses are more expensive than 3rd party lenses, but can be worth it. The way it works with a Canon back of similar quality is very nice. You just need to decide if the Canon integration is with the premium, but for my use it was.

One of my favorite lenses. Great quality. Super easy to use.
JunL –
Best lense so far. Not too heavy. Very sharp image.
picpaul –
Brilliant lens! Much preferred to the 500/5.6 it replaced.
Skylite –
Best thing that it’s weather sealed so great for outdoors. The stabilizer is great, can be used without a tripod. Clarity and sharpness are great.
Skipdageneral –
Now i just let a review on the rf 100-400 basicallt saying u dont need to get this lens because the 100-400 was good enough……….but………once i used this lens it blew me away………on my canon eos r6ii the results is crazy……….if u have the money and can afford it i definitely recommend…………
RafaelPe –
Super lens. It works great for all events, sports, music bird watching
CharlesT –
I am using this lens to take shots during my sons’ High School football games. Taken from the field, I can get high quality close ups over the entire field. Definitely need a monopod to support the lens though, it gets heavy!
Mike –
This lense on Cannon R7 is great. Very sharp photos and it can be hand hold on high ISO with great images. I don’t regret buying this lense at all.
EricY –
Excellent lens, used on Safari in Africa, was great for this purpose!
RichardB –
Amazing zoom capabilities, compact design makes it not so cumbersome. Functionality is great.
loper –
This lens is wonderful when shooting in adequate light. The lighter weight makes it manageable for long days shooting sports outdoors. I pair this lens paired with the R6.
Disappointed –
There is a 15% restock fee they do not tell you about before purchase, buyer beware. Amazon does not!!!
BBennett –
This lens is phenomenal. The details from 100mm to 500mm are exceptionally sharp and clear. Also its a fast lens .
Cwmjr2018 –
Amazing lens, that captures a significant amount of detail. Can’t go wrong with this type of investment to capture kids in sports. The lens is very light to use without a tripod.
JacobS –
Great lens. Easy to use. Best quality lens you can buy for sure.
LGSouthFlorida –
I’d been wanting a lens like this for so long, and finally decided to go for it. It’s really upped my game, and I’m able to take advantage of all the great wildlife we have here in Florida. I highly recommend this lens & the Canon R6 Mark II.
blimpcity –
Exquisite lens. Great for just about any daytime outdoor application. Indoor use is challenging due to aperature. However, with current software options available for raw processing, smaller aperatures are much more usable than in the past. Tack sharp, super fast focusing, compact and light. Only concern I have is durability due to primarily plastic construction. Not a thank lake older EF-L lenses. Canon CPS definitely necessary to protect your investment.
BruceA –
Another great Canon L lens! The 100-500 is a perfect range. Best Buy had the stock and was very easy to pick up.
Craig –
Had a last minute job that required 500mm lens Didn’t have time to rent a lens, so I bought the 100-500. The f7.1 you would think would be a little slow, but with the R5 it worked well. Had to shoot from the back of the theater with mediocre lighting and was able to get crisp images. The zoom range is awesome, for distance shooting. Gives you a decent wide to extreme close up.. Good bang for the buck not having to spend $$$ on a prime telephoto.
SHOtime14 –
Awesome range and excellent sharpness. Must use higher ISO which can be corrected in processing when shooting dim environments but still very capable lens in lower light.
EmmanuelA –
For the price you can’t a better lens within this focal zoom length. Just tact sharp and AF is quick and really light in weight compared to it’s similar EF counterpart.
Chris –
I use this lens to shoot sports. Specifically pro baseball snd hockey. The focus is super fast and the lens isnt nearly as heavy as similar lenses made by other manufacturers. Big fan of this lens, would highly recommend!
Josue –
Love the photos i get outa this lens, they are sharp and excellent detail. Only wish it had longer reach sometimes.
Review –
Amazing lens with sharp image quality! Definitely worth the price
DxddyAF –
I was worried about the higher aperature but once i used it all my worried went away! And with the 1.6x crop you get a whole 800mm zoom! I love this lense
4info –
Light weight quality lens producing clear and sharp photos. It’s not an inexpensive lens but fortunately it was on sale when I purchased it. I saved for it and it was worth the wait! I am very happy with this purchase.
Mark –
What an upgrade! I had a RF 100-400 but found it hard to justify the 500 until it was on sale for $500 less. Images are better and the extra 100mm comes in very handy. Very happy with this purchase. If you are on the fence, do it.
Peter –
Value, the sale price made it more affordable versus the regular price. Quality, I am satisfied with images the lens provides. Ease of Use, it takes some practice to handle the lens the way I am comfortable with.
DennisS –
Recently took the lens and my Canon R5 to Blue Springs State Park, Took many photos of manatees in the water up to 200 feet away. The quality and sharpness of this telephoto is amazing. Even the handheld photos were exceptional.
Aniruddha –
This is a great affordable lens for wildlife photography. I am able to get great sharp pictures from this lens. It is easy to use and doesn’t way too much which allows to to do handheld photography.
Perry –
So far, this has been a great lens; I have only used it a few times as I learn the new camera.
JoseI –
Amazing lens, very versatile for multiple scenarios including wildlife photography of hummingbirds and ancient ruins
Chuck –
Been waiting to afford this lens. I can’t wait to use it in Montana to capture wildlife at Yellowstone Park.
Tomko0 –
Great lens. Upgraded from the EF100-400. Great to have the extra 100mm
greg –
Excellent lens, designed specifically to work with my EOS R5 body. There are many similar type lenses available by “other” makers- and I had one- but the difference is SIGNIFICANT. Worth the $$$
