  1. nikon90sss

So far one of the best printers
    Really good quality

  2. DM51

I purchased the Canon G620 MegaTank in December 2021, and waited awhile to really test it out before writing a review. This is an excellent printer, and I am very pleased with it. The set up was easy for my pc and smart phone. I enjoy printing my own photos that I take, and I also print photos for others. The photo quality is outstanding, best on Canon photo paper. I reprinted and compared photos that where printed with a couple different photo printers in the past (about the same price range) and photos that were done by a photo service. All have been kept in an album. The G620 photos just stand out the best.
Managing the print settings through my pc and phone was easy. The LCD screen is definitely small, however my previous Canon G3200 MegaTank didn’t have a LCD screen. I had the Canon G3200 MegaTank for several years, and it died due to full absorbent pads and clogged print heads, neither could be changed. It did served me very well. With the G620 the maintenance cartridge (holds the absorbent pads) and the print heads are replaceable, a big plus. Glad to see Canon improved on some important points in the G printer series. No big deal on giving up some printing speed for outstanding photos. I have scanned and copied documents, no complaints. Enjoy the luxury of no ink cartridges.
I would recommend the Canon G620 MegaTank printer.

  3. Audr

Very great picture quality when it prints. We bought the Epson ET-2850 and the picture were coming out with a white tint very ugly and this Canon was amazing.

  4. Porter

Construction and material of very flimsy poor quality not any near the the quality of my older similar canon printer. It sounds like a bunch of marbles in a tin can when it goes through the cycles. Display window is to small and without lighted back ground is extremely difficult to read. Bottle ink a big dollar saving plus!!! So far it works???

  5. rad64

I purchased this printer as an all-in-one solution because I like printing pictures and I also print a lot of worksheets for my teacher wife. The main reason I bought this printer was because of the large ink tanks. I am tired of buying expensive cartridges that only last a month. When you spend $80 a month on ink, that is crazy. Granted, you are paying up front for this printer but given the fact that the ink bottles are about $15 and can last upwards of 3,000 pictures – I think I will be better off. Anyway, here are the highlights after a week:

    – Great 4″x6″ prints
    – Good quality type output like worksheets
    – Easy fill tanks and they are keyed so that you can’t put the wrong ink in the wrong tank
    – Scanned documents are good

    Cons
    ————–
    – Slow photo printing on 4″x6″ prints (over 1 minute on best quality)
    – Slow document printing
    – Terribly small printer screen and hard to read menu

Time will tell how durable this printer is but so far I am happy with the output. Setup was easy but long and I wish it had 2 separate paper trays but it doesn’t. All things considered, I would buy it again because I like the quality.

  6. Gidget

This printer is a crafters dream. It handles cardstock so easily with no special settings. Can run A2-A7 thru with no problem. Prints quickly. Like the power saver that shuts off overnight. I also like the fact I buy the ink and refill myself. Those ink cartridges are so expensive. My first Cannon printer and I am so happy.

  7. cwbuff

It prints well, but it is over priced lacking key features. Because it is not “auto on” it is a pain to use since our printer is in the office and our laptops are used in other parts of the house.

  8. Chris

I’ve tried a few different brands over the years, and while this Canon is missing a few features for the price it’s still a great printer. The setup is easy, and it prints great photos. It’s very nice to have an easy refill ink tank, where you know exactly how much ink you’re getting and how much you have left. The LCD screen on it is basic, easy enough to use but for the price I would have at least liked something larger with a backlight. I would say overall it’s a great entry photo printer for simple things, like if you’re planning on printing smaller pictures for home, custom invitations, post cards etc.

  9. WatercolorArtist

Easy setup and produces excellent images (prints of paintings). Like other reviewers I find the on printer display to be pathetic. Much better controls on the computer. Have already made enough art prints to justified the cost. Still plenty of ink remaining.

  10. Bonz

The printer is great. Works as advertised only thing in ages paper tray for 8 1/2 Y 11 paper like the MVMG 8100 series.

  11. Horribleprinter

Looses connection to print via WI-FI, the panel in small and black and white very hard to ready.

  12. Randy

Great printer, love the big tanks and it prints so well I got rid of my laser preinter

  13. SpartyFan

This a great printer that sips ink and provides high quality color and b&w prints and copies. It has a replaceable maintenance cartridge for ink collection. This is my second Canon ink tank printer. My first was a G3200.

  14. CyberGame88

Excellent printing machine for photography, I made a perfect purchase

  15. BobGoldrick

I am an accomplished amateur photographer, not a professional or a techie. I take photos with an iPhone 12 and a Panasonic SLR. I do not make highly technical adjustments to the images. Both of these printers produce excellent results. I purchased them for two reasons: saving on ink, and printing photographs with accurate colors. I have used Canon Pixma printers for decades, so I first tried the G620. Although I do most of my shopping on Amazon I purchased it at Best Buy for ease of potential return. It cost $330 (rounded up by a penny).

    THE CANON G620:

    PRO’s:
It was easy to fill the six ink tanks. Canon cleverly designed the tops of each one so they can only be inserted into the correct tanks.
No problem connecting to my wi-fi.
Documents printed quickly and looked fine.
The first 4×6 print I did was acceptable but not as good as I had expected. I corrected this quickly per the next bullet.
By default my Windows laptop installed its own drivers for the printer. These are not as good as Canon’s. I went to the Canon website and downloaded and installed their drivers for the 6 series.
Voila, very good photos, with accurate color and sharp edges! Thanks to other Amazon reviewers for calling this to my attention.
    Photos printed quickly enough.

    CON’S:
The most significant one, and why I switched to the Epson, is the paper handling. There is only one input tray, at the rear of the printer, which takes all sizes and types: 8×11 plain paper, 4×6, 5×7 and 8×11 photo paper, etc. At first I didn’t think I’d mind changing the paper, but after a while I did, per next bullet.
The display on the top of the printer is small, dim and awkwardly placed. I thought I might not need to use it that much, but every time you change paper you have to.
You need to pull the output tray out manually. No big deal if you are at your desk, but if you are in another room and want to print out an item on your phone you have to go the printer. A minor inconvenience but a nettlesome one at times.

    THE EPSON ET-8500:.

    PRO’s:
Equally easy to connect to wi-fi.
Even easier to set up. The correct drivers were downloaded automatically.
A terrific screen on the right front of the printer. Large, bright, easy to use.
Two input trays at the front, one for 4×6 and 5×7 photo paper, the other for 8×11 paper of either type.
Another input tray at the back! I use this on the relatively few occasions I print 8×11 photos, and I keep plain paper in the front tray. This is extremely convenient.
When you send an item to the printer it wakes up even if it’s turned off. The G620 did not do that.
The output tray comes out automatically; no need to pull it.
There is a button on the screen for pushing the output tray back in and closing the front.
That bright tilt-able front screen has every setting you need and is very intuitive.
Everything I printed came out fine and quickly. The photos were equal to Canon’s in quality, plus there is an Epson app for making further adjustments to them. I downloaded it and found it easy to use.

    CON’s:
The cost: $700. That’s more than double the Canon G620, which is a significant consideration.
Two others that are not significant. The photo tray can be a little tricky to pull out and a tight fit when reinserting (it goes well toward the back). This can be relieved by first pulling out the 8×11 tray underneath it, giving your fingers more room.
Not really a con but when the printer is finished the screen shows two items: a little Home icon on the left and a larger “Troubleshooting” message next to that. Some users might think that means there was a problem, but it’s just in case there was. Touch Home and you’re set, then touch the Close Tray button on the bottom right.

    BOTTOM LINE:
You may be wondering, Why spend that much more? And, why not buy a Canon Ink Tank printer of equivalent cost? Re the first, for the convenience of the paper handling and ease of use of the screen. I keep printers a long time and the cost spreads out over the years, especially not needing to buy cartridges. Re the second, I did research those, but prefer the size of the Epson, which is comparable to the G620. The higher priced Canons that I looked at were bulkier.

I hope this helps others. If I omitted anything you think should be included, or if you have questions or a difference of opinion, leave a comment and I’ll respond to it.

  16. Bubba

Great pictures. Interfaces with network flawlessly. a little slow but I don’t need speed for home use. Like the long lasting ink reservoirs.

  17. DavidD

It’s a very fine machine. I would recommend it to anyone who does photo printing.

  18. Semitechy

Very happy with the printer! Prints color photos really well. Ink tank refills only $16 each and they seem to last a long time. Not fancy but does the job it is supposed to do well! Also, $30 price drop and Best Buy gave me the money back!!

  19. Steve

This is a great printer! I bought mainly to print pictures and they are perfect.

  20. mgriffis22

excellent product. highly recommend for cricut projects

  21. KevinK

This printer is outstanding! Professional grade color photographs. Best Buy warranty is the best.

  22. PardZ

Ultimately it was returned. I updated drivers, used the Canon software, used quality paper and put the settings to best quality- which produced a dull page that could not have been close to the claimed dpi.
I loved the idea of it, but couldn’t eat the cost and be okay with quality. Maybe I could have fought with it endlessly, but why bother when I can grab another product that works with much less hassle?

  23. Sues

Nice printer for the money. Hooked it up without an issue!

  24. John

I bought an Epson printer after reading glorifying reviews and I was more than disappointed. The quality was horrendous. Red was printing as brown, the black was a washed out dark gray, every other color was washed out and looked like it was blended in with chalk. I tried adjusting settings for printing and nothing helped. After doing MORE research I came across this printer. IT.IS.AMAZING. The quality holds up next to a professional poster printer. The colors are so vibrant and lines come out so crisp. If you are looking to start a small business please DO NOT buy an Epson! Buy this printer or one of the other Canon’s.

  25. cnam

Works beautifully with photo quality as good as or better than regular drugstore prints. The megatanks seem to last a very long time even printing 8.5×11 color prints.

  26. dw1011

The copies and prints are great. But for the price, I would have expected it to do double-sided prints. I was even led to believe that it only needed an adjustment to the settings to do that. When I found out that it would only do that manually, I was quite disappointed.

  27. Johnnyboy1080p

Works better than I was expecting. The colors are very vibrant on the photo paper. Definitely recommend this printer to anyone on the hunt for a new printer, especially for photography.

  28. GavinJ

Product is amazing at printing stickers and other designs

  29. ManoucherhrL

it is too difficult to work with quality of photo picture is average

  30. Shootset

Very with printer, just what I needed. Print very nice high quality photos.

  31. Mshandy

Prints are spectacular. Easy to use east to set up. Connects to smartphone /laptop/smartdevice easy.

  32. DaDDyJ44

Print quality is great, but not the fastest of printers. Overall great value for the price.

  33. KenH

I use this printer primarily as a photo printer for photos taken with my Nikon of wildlife in my area. It produces quality prints but is a bit tedious to change photo paper sizes

  34. Wilkal

Love this printer. Wanted a back feeding printer for cardstock. Works great.

  35. Josho

Printer is really convenient. Photo quality is great, price per print is great, and the ease of use is really a nice selling point. The phone app makes it very easy to pick a photo on my phone and print it in seconds.

  36. Raymond

Great colors, lots of print options, helpful online tutorials and guides. Have owned HP and Canon printers, and the Canon has been far more reliable, especially with reloading ink. HP replacement ink can be a hassle, and HP printers can sometimes reject non-HP refill cartridges from online resellers.

  37. Mp22

I love this printer! It’s easy on ink and prints photos well. I only gave it 4 stars because I was unable to install it wirelessly, it is hard wired to my pc. The other thing is the screen is so small and dark, I keep a flashlight near to read it.

  38. HannahK

I use this to print out cards I make digitally. It works pretty well! I had a mishap pouring in the first ink canister, but it was a user error. Just be sure to watch the tutorial video is my advice. I will have to research more on paper as well, because everything prints out really flat like too.

  39. Nashami

First printer i bought was printing stripes through my images. Best buy was great to replace it. So far so good with the new printer. Colors are accurate snd it is an easy set up. Love the bluetooth. I would recommend.

  40. headset

excellent photo printing, slow printing over all, screen to small to read, difficult to operate

  41. Tara

Print quality is nice but the apps that you have to use with it kinda suck

  42. Hawaiian23

The printer works great! The color prints are sharp and vivid!

  43. Kendallmomus

Great printer- use to make stickers and the colors are right on.

  44. SoundBar

I like the inexpensive ink tanks. It prints well.
The only drawback is that it doesn’t do automatic double sided printing. However, doing double sided isn’t all that difficult. For multiple pages, it prints every other page, so you can flip the whole stack over to do the other side.

  45. RobertH

I love the large ink tanks. Hate that it is so slow. Ad stated it could print a picture in 40 ish seconds. It takes over 2 minutes to print a 4×6 of decent quality.

  46. LayneH

Incredible printer and produces such quality printed pictures. The only real downside I would say is ease of use with connecting it.

  47. Gerald

Good qualty photo prints. Some prints appear darker than pictures viewed on computer screen. Had to compensate for this.

  48. ThomasS

Getting it on my network was a little challenge, however, since I did it’s been solid. Still not sure if the colors are what I like, but acceptable.

  49. ThinhN

The canon app not good compare HP printer
Only i like Canon g620 mega tank that i can save money

  50. bjack

Love the CANON PIXMA G620 printer which I purchased primarily to print photos of my grandchildren. Yet to be seen if I can get 3000 4×6 photos with original set of ink supplied with the printer. I am well pleased with the quality of these photos.
