Bought this as a starter printer for stickers/prints. So far so good! It’s a good price and prints on sticker paper just fine. Set up was a little tricky but that’s to be expected.

I had to call canon and speak to a customer service agent for about half an hour just to get this printer connected to my wifi. After it did connect, it was glitchy and sometimes just refused to work out right. I returned it for an Epson wide format printer and am much happier!

I purchased the Canon Pixma iP8720 to replace my Canon Pixma Pro 100 that I had used for years and loved. This unit has many of the features of the Canon Pixma Pro 100. The only problem I had was in installing wirelessly. I read articles about wireless connection problems. My home wifi has WPS connectivity and it should have been simple. It would not connect using WPS, but there was an option for a second wireless connect method and it worked on the first computer. My second computer running Windows 10 would not connect wireless and I had to use a usb cable.

Works great, colors are super vibrant. Main issue is that it’s supposed to be wifi compatible, but the instructions aren’t clear on how to set that up, and looking it up elsewhere yields no information. I settled for using a usb slot on my pc, otherwise I’d have pulled my hair out. If you’re getting this specifically because you prefer/require the wifi connectivity, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

I purchased this printer to be able to print photos for scrapbooking. I am extremely impressed with the ease of using the app and the quality of the photos. It is a large unit, but that was worth it to me in order to be able to print larger photos.

The 4-star rating is only a reflection of the time I have used this printer. So, far the printer gets 5 stars for meeting my expectations. I am an enthusiast photographer who has been looking to gain the experience of printing my work. I had forgotten the joy that comes from printing your photographs. This printer does the job for me. It is simple to operate. The print quality is great for my purposes. I did a lot of research before buying this printer and I am happy with my decision. I have recommended this printer to friends with the following caveats:
• I wish the printer had a built-in screen for information. I am not used to using the app on my computer.
• The set-up instructions with the printer are bad. It is an outdated approach that assumes your computer can read a CD. Everything you need is online, but the process should be easier.
• Based on this experience and other reviews, I have a wired connection to the printer. I cannot opine on the wireless option.
• I have only printed on 8.5×11 paper (or smaller). There are no red flags about using 13×19 paper.
• Be prepared to learn how to print. The printer needs your help to produce the best results. Learn the correct settings for your software. I highly recommend buying paper sample kits and testing different paper. The type of paper makes a difference in the results (and cost) of printing. Calibrate your monitor to help ensure that what you see is what you get.
I love having the ability to print and share my work. It is entirely different that an online experience. If you are thinking about printing your photos, do it! The Canon Pixma iP8720 printer is a great option to help you learn the art of printing.

Problem 1: Install screens not 4K compliant and illegible. Move the mouse cursor down to the tiny visible slice of button and click on your best guess. You’ll need a magnifying glass. Earth to Canon, it’s 2023 and I’m not gonna reset my display for your convenience.
Problem 2: Printer could not find my network. Pressing the Wifi button for a 2 count does nothing. Canon chat tech support recommends reconfiguring my router (not going to happen) or hooking up a USB cable (connection for which does not exist on the printer) or worse yet install an Android app on my phone to try to spoof the connection to my desktop, which is where an oversize printer of this type belongs. Sheer arrogant laziness on Canon’s part not to have a competent install routine. Epson XP 15000 searched and found my network the first time, the way it’s SUPPOSED to be done.
Goodbye ip8720, you’re heading back to Best Buy, earliest!

Love this printer! We’ve been adjusting to editing the settings so they come out how we like it and still need to work on it but overall we’ve loved testing it out and printing photos we’ve taken for friends and family 🙂 I’d recommend for anyone who likes to play around with how the printed photos come out. If you just want photos to come out exactly as they look from your device, I’d just say be aware that you’re going to need to mess with the settings to get the right look.

Great printer with amazing quality prints. Just a heads up for anyone who runs into the same problem I did at first and that is, if you are getting lines from printing with Photo paper or glossy vinyl sheets check the system printer settings. By default it’ll print great on normal paper, but go into printer settings and adjust it for photo sheets and increase quality.
I wasted so many sheets till I found out about, once I found that out it was smooth sailing and all my prints are legit great quality!

Another perk is my regular printer isn’t the greatest and I need some documents printed ASAP! Well this printer had no issues doubling as a photo printer and a regular functional printer.
