CatCity –
This is not my first mini photo printer, however, it is my first Canon mini photo printer, and I’m really impressed with the speed of the printing. The print speed is about twice the speed I was expecting.
The device itself is really easy to set up, you just download the app, turn the device on, connect to the device Wi-Fi, and then the app should recognize the device. The app comes with a ton of templates to style your photos, and also lets you add text and and select the area of the photo that you want to print.
One thing I found really interesting is that you can use non Canon paper with this device. I have some HP paper at my house, and I was able to print on it without any problems. I will say that the Canon paper turned out better when I used it.
Overall, really happy with the printer, it’s very similar to other printers I’ve had, just a bit faster. It charges with a USB-C plug, which is my preferred plug, so really happy about that. The battery life seems to be good so far, and the device itself is ultra portable.

I’ve been pretty excited to give the IVY 2 a test run. Personally, I have never owned a small portable photo printer like this before. My last experience with owning a photo printer was 10+ years ago and you had to hook it up to a Windows PC to print. Needless to say, this was a very different experience compared to that.
The design of the device is really nice. It’s a mix of soft plastics with a lightly textured bottom to help grip to most surfaces. Having USB-C charging onboard is awesome since most modern devices use the same port. There’s a simple red and green light near the charging port to show its charging status (charging/charged), along with a light on top of the device to show what the device is up to – such as printing a photo, waiting for Bluetooth, low battery, etc.
The Canon Mini Print app has a LOT of features, so definitely give it a download if you’re curious about its capabilities. There’s everything from light photo editing capabilities, to borders, stickers, and plenty of other customization options. I honestly would not be able to list all of them here!
The quality of the prints is right where it needs to be in my opinion. This device is made for portability, and as such, printing/processing speed, good battery life, and ease of use are paramount. I think this device checks all the boxes for what’s important in this product category. This is made for people who want fun-sized small prints that they can share with friends, stick to a binder, or put up on their photo board at home, and it’s perfectly capable and up to the task for those use cases.
The only critique I can truly offer for the IVY 2 is that you might want to turn up the saturation slightly on some of your photos before printing. The photo prints don’t look washed out or anything, but when most people these days are using smartphones with high quality displays and saturated colors, it becomes important to understand the difference between what you’re seeing on a screen and what a photo should look like when printed.
Overall, I’m quite satisfied with this little device. The Canon Mini Print app is constantly getting updated with new features and designs to use, the device is capable of firmware updates to further upgrade and refine the user experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Canon has planned for this device. If someone in your life is a photo lover and always on the go, consider getting them the IVY 2. I think they’ll really enjoy it!

I could not believe the size of this printer!! its 4.7 x 0.8 x 3.3 inches in relation to your cell phone with a case its just a little wider but may be shorter if you have a big cell phone, so you could easily put this in a pocket.
The Canon – IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer comes with only 10 sheets of sticky photo paper. Wait did I say sticky photo paper ……. YES I did, a very nice add indeed!! But you can still not peel off the back and just use as a photo without sticking. The photo paper is about $.50 per print now as this writing.
You unbox the printer, charge the printer (it comes with a small charge cable, you will need to use a USB charger that you have, not supplied)
– turn the power on by holding the power button
– load the paper (blue paper down and white facing up)
– add the device to your bluetooth on your phone
– Download the APP (you can scan the inside of the box and it will take to the Canon mini print app
– run the Canon mini print app, say yes for access to photos and stuff
– select Collage to whatever you want
– select the photo or photo’s
– you can add filters, frames, stickers to your photo
– you can print your photo using the top right button
– If it does not print on the next screen after you hit the print button from the previous step, you click on the Icon in the upper left and choose the printer and your printer should be getting your photo!!
I was actually blown away by how well it prints and the printer size!!
Love the device!!

This little printer is a lot of fun. My daughter has a Fuji Instax camera that spits out Polaroid type pictures. This is very similar, but without the need of the clunky camera. This sleek little printer is about the size of a phone charger. I have the blush pink color, which is definitely cute.
The printer was very easy to set up and connect to my iPhone 13. I downloaded the app and I just followed the simple instructions. There aren’t instructions in the box, everything is online or in the app. It was easy to load the packet of photo paper that was included in the box. For my first picture I found one in my photo library that my daughter and I had just taken a few days before. There are many ways to customize the picture, sort of like Snapchat. Frames, stickers, filters, you name it. Then I printed it out, and it’s just so fun! The paper is 2”x3” and has a sticker back. You don’t have to peel and stick it if you don’t want to, it can just be a picture.
The cost of the paper is about .50¢ per photo, or so. The paper is sort of spendy, but it’s much easier than carrying around a dedicated (and boxy) camera. With this, you take a picture on your phone, which you already have on you. You can edit it to your heart’s content and then print it however you want. It can be done right there, because it’s so compact and portable, or later. This would make a great gift!

I had never heard of this small printer but got it free to test. I think the target audience might be teenagers or people that do scrapbooking. I downloaded the app and then my struggle began. There were not any instructions in the box and the app to me is not well developed. I found the charging cord to be too short but eventually got it charged. I loaded the paper but I could not get it to print. I worried that I had loaded the paper wrong. It was not intuitive for me with how to load the paper & it just wouldn’t print. I later found some online reviews that better explained the sequencing needed with turning it on and then loading the paper. Suddenly this silly little thing, that was really annoying me, started to print and I was totally amazed at how cute the little photo was. It prints with Zink paper that apparently is around $0.50 per print and the print is a 2×3 inch. This reminded me of the old Polaroid cameras. It would be fun for kids or fun to take to family events like weddings. It is very small and compact & could be carried in a pocket or handbag. I think it could be used to make reference photos for art projects like painting. Now that I have mastered it, I do like it but from a cost standpoint I think it is rather expensive plus the prints are expensive.

The Canon Ivy is a second generation portable photo printer. I’ve never had one of these before, but have been thinking about getting one for printing photos and art for my art journal. Canon is a well respected name in photography; I was excited to receive this from my husband.
I never realized the instant camera and portable printer market existed. No ink cartridges, film cartridges, or toners are needed to produce high quality photos. The Ivy 2 comes with a pack of 10 papers, which load into the printer easily. Open the package and drop the paper in. The Ivy uses special photo paper called Zink, which stands for Zero Ink. Developed by the leader of instant printing technology, Polaroid Corporation. Polaroid spun out the technology into a separate company called Zink Holdings in 2005.
The secret to Zink is that it is multi-layered thermal paper. When heat is applied, the colors on the photo paper activate. Yellow, Cyan, and Magenta crystals are embedded in the layers. What is amazing is that the photo comes out in a single pass in about a minute. Although the dpi is 313 x 512, the pictures that it produces are excellent. Because there is no ink, you can hold the photo immediately without smudging or smearing it. I remember a time when I was a kid, an uncle had a Polaroid camera. You had to wait for the print to emerge, and watch it “develop” before you could coat it with a stinky solution in order to have a small black and white photo . Zink photo paper makes it a dream. Print size is 2″ x 3″, a little small, but the perfect size for sharing with others. It’s easy to go through the initial 10 pack that comes in the package. I immediately ordered a Canon branded 50 pack from Amazon. The print has a peel and stick back to to allow you to adhere it to paper or other surfaces. I did not try to put it on fabric, though. The pricing for the paper is a little less than 50 cents per page, and you can buy it in a 10 pack, 20 pack or 50 packs. Pre cut sticker paper is available, although I didn’t buy this yet.
The printer itself is Small enough to take anywhere, weighing only 5.6 ounces. It would have been nice if Canon had included a small drawstring bag to protect it in a purse or backpack.
The package comes with a QR code that will take you to the Canon website for the Ivy. The app you need can be downloaded from both app stores. I downloaded the Google version for my android cell phone and the apple version for my 11″ iPad. The iPad app works in portrait mode only. The printer communicates with your device via Bluetooth 5.0 only, no wi-fi. Although you can pair the printer with different devices, the printer is not multi point. I had to turn Bluetooth off on my tablet if I wanted to print a photo from my cell phone and vice versa. When you first turn it on, it connects to the device you last printed from.
You can choose photos to print from the photo album on your device or you can snap a photo using the Canon app on your cell phone or tablet. The canon app steps you through the process of connecting via Bluetooth to the printer. You can also connect to Facebook, Google Photos, or Instagram in the app and select photos from those sources.
This is where the fun begins. The app provides you with a library of frames, borders, emojis, stickers, filters. You can add text or even doodle on the screen before you print. You can collage multiple images onto the same print. At such a small size, I was surprised at how good the images were. You can adjust the photo’s brightness, contrast, saturation and color balance from within the app. There’s a library of filters as well (jig saw puzzle, B&W, Lomo, HDR etc.). You can snap a photo within the app on your cell phone or tablet.
The battery is a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion (2 cell, 7.4V). Canon provides a short USB A to USB C cable. A full charge takes about 45 minutes. There is an auto shut off if the printer is idle for 5 minutes with no printing. It takes less than an hour to fully charge it. Battery life is rated at about 20 sheets per charge, and it’s easy enough to charge it in between uses. The app shows the battery percentage.
According to the specifications, no more than 10 sheets of photo paper should be loaded at a time, that the blue calibration paper should be kept until all prints are printed (if you have a large multi-pack), and the unit isn’t recommended for use in environments above 90 degrees F or below 60 degrees F. The app does not let you know how many sheets are left inside. The pre-cut sticker paper gives you two equal size circles.
The LED indicator shows red when charging, green when charging is complete. Otherwise it is white when you power it on and flashes until it connects to the Canon app on your device. It is supposed to flash red if the cover is opened while on, or if there is an error with printer, a paper jam or runs out of paper.
A crafter by the name of Something Turquoise™ has a wonderful 8 minute YouTube video to introduce fellow creatives to the printer. From <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZW6_5bOIA8>
The Ivy2 would make a nice gift for someone. For the upcoming holiday season, this would be a lot of fun to have at family gatherings –very easy to share photos with your guests.

The Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo printer completely exceeded my expectations!! It’s compact, portable, and loads of fun better than an instant print camera.
Set up was fast and easy! Charge the printer up before first use, scan the QR code provided on the box, download the app, follow the super simple instructions and you’re ready to print your favorite photos. The printer comes with 10 sheets of sticker paper to try out the device. I was blown away by how many features are in the app to make your prints fun and customizable.
The quality of the prints also exceeded my expectations, I’ve used instant print cameras many times in my life and this is by far more fun because you know what you’re getting before it prints.
These prints work so great for scrapbooking, you peel off the back and can stick these where you want them to make a collage. My daughter has been having a blast printing pictures for friends and for herself to enjoy.
It’s been fun using the Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo printer to make small 2×3 fun sticker prints to enjoy from my phone! I love how easy it is to use, how compact and portable the device is as well.
I recommend this printer over an instant print camera any day!

This little thing is so FLIPPIN’ CUTE! I really love how fun it is – I’ve printed stickers of my Fam and pets and the app interfaces easily. It’s a sort of throw-back to the Polaroid I think.
The pros for me are the pretty color, very lightweight and I can take it anywhere. We had this sort of impromptu gathering at work, we hadn’t all seen each other in the same place together for a while. I took out the mini-photo printer, and everyone was really happy and playful with it. I love the sticker part, although, I haven’t actually peeled any of the stickers off – don’t want to mess up any surfaces. Would be great for a teen scrapbook or locker… Not sure how Custodial would feel about that later, though!
The cons, there’s really just a few – the printing sheets aren’t cheap. I mean, I don’t expect them to be DIRT cheap, but, I guess when you can just print several larger prints out from a computer, it doesn’t seem very feasible to keep buying the photo sheets? I know this was a trial run, but I would have liked to have been able to print larger sizes.

Good to give friends stickers! Also to print small pics for family members! Perfect size! Love it

I really love this photo printer. It has such a small and sleek design. The size of this printer can fit in the palm of my hand. This little photo printer fits in your pocket. Great to take to parties to share photos with others. Pictures look absolutely wonderful and high quality. Easy to use and print pictures with just a press of a button. I love how easy this little printer is! I love how you can take this literally anywhere and print pictures on the go. You can even make cute photo stickers which is great for scrapbooking.
Right out of the box this little printer is easy to use. Just charge this printer with the USB charger into a wall charger and charge up device. Charges in no time. Loading printer is a tad hard at first but I was able to figure it out by sliding up on the device. Place printer paper into device and close. Turning on device is easy with just a click of a button. Before printing pictures or sharing photos you must have an app which can be found through Google play. Simple to download. Link up printer to phone and choose photo then print. You can even customize your photos in the app and giving your photos stickers or frames. Super cute idea! I love that the app even gives me options to buy new photo paper. Great product from a great company.

Don’t let its size and portability fool you! This is a super mighty and convenient little photo printer. I love the fact that I can make prints of pictures from my phone for family and friends, and they even come out as stickers so they can be placed anywhere! The prints are high quality and vibrant, and connecting to the app to use the photo printer with is super user-friendly and easy to do. I had no problems at all getting set up and it was a fast process. I do love that the app offers frames if you wish to personalize your photos a bit more. The option to spruce photos up a bit is definitely useful! This would be a great printer to take with you on a vacation or trip so you can get quick memories to share with your family and friends, it’s not heavy or bulky by any means. The printing process is quick and efficient as well, it doesn’t take long for each print to come out of the printer, so it’s perfect for when you’re on the go and in a hurry. I really love this photo printer and I will be taking it with me when I travel!
Vibranium –
Pros: The app download was really quick and easy by scanning the QR code in the box. Photo quality was really good. Colors were accurate and true to the original picture. I really love all of the options for editing a photo. Options include: filters on photos, adding a frame to your photos, adding wording to your photo, picture or letter stickers, cropping or zooming the photo without distortion, and so much more… My favorite feature is that you can print a large photo by printing it on multiple individual pieces of photo paper. My wife has an HP brand mini photo printer, and she cannot seem to find the photo paper refills, however she was able to pick up an extra pack of this Canon mini printer readily available at Target. Cons: Battery went from 100% down to 30% after printing 7 photos, to load the photo paper, you slide the top piece partly off, then the cover stops moving and feels like you might break it off if you keep trying to slide it. Also, after the photo prints, it tends to sit partially still in the printer. Would be nice if the photo spat all of the way out when printing finished.

Canon Ivy Mini Photo Printer is a fun little gadget that makes 2 inch by 3 inch photos using Zero Ink technology. Mine is Blush Rose but you can also get it in Pure White . It came with a 10 pack of Sticky-Backed Photo ZINK Paper that has a blue card in the stack that the printer ejects after you insert the stack with the blue card on the bottom. Since there are no instructions you just have to guess by following a picture on the pack of stickers. Lid barely latches but once you have it in the notches it stays put.
Device charges using the almost 11 inch USB-A to USB-C cable included. I had to charge from a USB port on my laptop since the cord is so short it doesn’t reach any of my plugged in USB ports. It was already partially charged inside the box so the charging light changed from red to green after about 30 minutes. Once the light is green then the printer is ready to use and can be unplugged from the USB. It’s portable. Download the Canon Mini Print app to your iPhone and then connect via Bluetooth. Power on the device and the Disconnected in the upper right corner of your app screen should change to Green and show the battery percentage. A one inch White light at the end where the photos come out stays on. It is ready to go. No instructions but you can figure it out. Snap a photo with the app or choose one from your photo album. You can pick borders, stickers, phrases, etc… then preview them and make adjustments before printing. Photos eject from the slot below the white light and it makes a whirring noise while printing. My first tries are just a little darker than the original photos but there is probably a way to adjust before printing. I have mostly used frames around photos but there are lots of options like Balloon letters for captions and Winter stickers and frames. I’m sure with use I can figure out how to use more options but even a Quick Start manual or insert would have been helpful so I don’t waste any pricey ZINK paper.
Sac22 –
Nice compact photo printer that uses zero ink to take prints anywhere anytime. The print quality has just the right contrast & sharpness and uses the colorful dye-based crystals that are embedded in the printer paper. The cool thing is that ZINK enabled device uses heat to activate & colorize these crystals. It connects to Bluetooth instantly to print the photos almost immediately on 2 X 3 peel & stick paper and it is easily carried in a pocket to print the pictures on the go. I was able to charge it completely in almost 50 mins and lasted pretty long enough. Each print takes around 45 seconds to print. My daughter was so fascinated with this printer that she created a hand-made card for her dad’s birthday. You will need a mobile device to be connected to this Canon printer via Bluetooth to be used by Canon mini print app (available at Google Play & App store). I wish it comes with a cover to be stored while not in use. The pictures can also be customized using the app features to add frames, stickers, filters, text, tile print, and collage print, these features give the picture a much-needed spark to make it trendy.

This tiny printer is great, especially if you have kids. Yes, the prints may be tiny and the printing process can take a little time, but overall I think the price, convenience, portability, and novelty more than make up for any shortcomings.
I have a similar printer from Polaroid as well as one that prints slightly larger photos (4 x 3) from LifePrint. All function in basically the same way and take about the same time to create prints. That being said, I’ve found that the Canon tends to pair with my phone more reliably than the other two on a regular basis. It is significantly smaller than the LifePrint printer and similar in size to the aforementioned Polaroid Zip but slightly wider. I am wondering if the Canon is slightly larger due to it having a larger battery because in my (admittedly unscientific) testing it did last quite a bit longer on a charge.
As for uses, there are a ton. I’ve used it to help my daughter decorate her journal notebook for school. Each photo also being a sticker was fantastic in that regard. We’ve used it to make a Guess Who game clone using pictures of our extended family members. We’ve used for impromptu “photo shoots” on play dates and at school dismissal and each kid receives their own sticker right then and there. They love it.
Some may not like the price of the film refills for the amount you get, but I’ve found that if you buy larger packs it’s not a terrible deal. Certainly not if you have a lot of fun using it.
If my descriptions of how we have used it sound good to you, I’d highly recommend picking up one of these printers.
Bakut3n –
his little guy is quite amazing for its size.
In the box the give you the Ivy 2 Mini Printer, a 6” USB-C to USB-A charging cable, 2 photo boards, and a 10 pack of the special 2 x 3 photo printer paper.
Download the Canon Mini Print app from Google Play or the iOS App Store. The app gives step by step instructions on connecting the printer as soon as you open it. This app is quite the powerhouse. From within the app you can edit your gallery or camera roll photos. You can add text, picture frames, stickers, and adjust colors and filters, even a calendar option!
The printer uses special Zinc photo paper, which stands for zero ink. It activates specific die based crystals in the paper that turn whatever color that is in your image. This means you need to buy the replacement photo paper instead of ink cartridges. At the time of review a 50 pack is $25 on Best Buy’s website, or $0.50 per Zinc photo.
Another note about the Zinc paper. Be sure and LOAD the little blue card that comes with your Zinc paper into your printer as it comes. From what I understand it calibrates the printer for that specific pack of paper to make sure it’s colors come out properly.
I spent about 10 minutes fiddling with my first picture before I finally hit print. You can have multiple pictures in a queue instead of printing one by one as well.
It takes about 50 seconds to go from hitting print to warming up the printer to a completed photo in your hand. The result is a smudge proof smear proof photo that’s dry to the touch right away. No shaking or waiting for the image to develop.
Another nice touch feature of the Zinc Paper is their stickers! So if you or someone you love likes making crafts with photos you can just peel and stick them wherever you want. a P backing that means you can stick your favorite pics anywhere. So maybe an art board, graduation cap, a cubicle wall even?
The printer comes partially charged and takes about 45 minutes to fully charge. The battery is used up quite quickly. After printing 4 pictures my battery was down to 70%, which comes out to about 12-13 prints before you need to recharge. This also explains the printers quick standby and power of time. While fiddling with filters it’s easy to lose track of time and by the time you’re ready to print the printer has powered off to save battery. But just power it back on and reconnect to your phone and hit print.
If you do decide to take this out with you to a theme park or night on the town where plugging into a wall socket isn’t an option, any battery bank used to charge cell phones on the go will also charge this to keep your printer up and running.
At $99 at time of writing or Best Buy, it’s almost as much as some full size printers, but if you’re someone who loves taking snapshots of memories and decorating your spaces, this pocket sized printer is well worth the money to do just that. As long as Canon keeps updating the Mini Print app with new borders and other photo ad ins, this should last you for a long long time.
The Canon Ivy 2 Mini Photo Printer is a well-built, well designed little printer that makes mobile photo printing fun and easy. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would and can see myself using it quite a bit for family get together and special moments or just for goofy fun!
