jake –
this is amazing landscape and for interior photography id say yes for the 2.8 if u do weddings indoors if not and u do more well lit the is and fast focus is great
Aaron –
Use this on my Canon 6dMKii and it is very sharp at all focal lengths. At 16mm the image distortion is very low and unnoticeable especially compared to the Canon 10-18mm. (I moded the 10-18mm ef-s to work on the full frame ef mount of the 6dMKii). The image stabilization works well aslo, it’s actually difficult to get an image out of focus at 16mm, and indoors the IS does help add a few stops, but I wouldn’t say it’s 4 extra stops like they advertise.
Just a very reliable lens that is excellent for what it is intended for. Also great for real estate as well.
Clk320 –
Sharp lens that stays on my EOS R and having so much fun with it. Great for wide angle picture.
BBCustomer –
I love the lens for taking pictures and capturing a large area. I use it specially for houses. I have not played around with it to see what else I may love it for! I was worried about not getting the newest model and that it was the f/4L but it is perfect!
SkillCaptureMedia –
Absolutely love this lens! The image stabilization is great for run and gun, vlogging, etc. The linear wide is fantastic so you don’t have to correct for lens distortion. Yes it’s losing a stop of light but bokeh wise this is very hard to tell the difference next to the 2.8. And for most wide angle situations, you can make up for the f stop with shutter speed (real estate, landscapes, etc)

Good lens for travel and landscape thanks to its small size and weight (for range and aperture). High quality build and not as expensive or heavy as f2.8 wide angle zooms.
I am an amateur photographer. If I was professional I would step up and make the investment in the f2.8.
Chromeseeker –
Exceptional image quality. Great landscape lense. Way better value than the f2.8, without losing that much low light function- can tripod and shoot slower speeds. Image below was a 20 second exposure with ND filter. Using on Canon 6D mii.
xdeapoet87x –
Excellent lens! A great value as compared to the more expensive versions, especially if you are a landscape photographer.
Ave12Sol32 –
Great purchase. Really take fantastic pictures !! I will recommend to any person looking for a great lens
Nichgarcia –
Great canon lens. Always wanting a wide lens like this and great for indoor shoots.
Becca –
honestly, i was kicking myself for not buying the lens with the lower aperture, but every time I use this thing, it grows on me a bit more. Amazing for architecture and landscape photography
detravos19 –
Very sharp, clear and high contrast images excellent for photos, videos and cinematography! I am liked so much. Will praise your work.
gunner –
wondered if this lens was worth it for someone who does this as just a hobby, and I think if the return is that it makes your hobby that more enjoyable it is totally worth it, i think it was worth it for me can’t wait to get more fun out of it.
Tashi24 –
The clarity of this glass is amazing! Great for landscapes.
Patrick –
This is a great lens that is tack sharp. Upgraded from a 17-40, and while you lose a little zoom, this is definitely an upgrade compared to that.
visualize –
the sharpest ultra wide lens in canons lineup. If you don’t mind f4 and having IS, this is the lens for you. The price is good too as this covers the wide and part of the medium spectrum of lens
LeeO –
This is the first wide angle that matches my 24-105mm L lens in image quality. It also takes the same size filters. I use it for landscapes, it is a pleasure to use and the images are wonderful!
Dani –
If you needed that certain lens to do that certain job, this is it. Wide and a little reach. Great for landscape and people capturing moments to fit in. Quality is same Canon L feel. Don’t forget that is comes with a bag and caps for the lens.
Julie –
I am a beginner photographer who is using the lens to take real estate pictures. Seems to work good for someone who has no experience with cameras.
Felt it was a bit pricey but again, new to this and using the internet research and learn.
Liza –
Love this lens. I have been using it more than my fixed lenses. Highly recommend
GalaxyTraveler –
This is my intro lens into wide angle for my full frame camera. It works great giving me clear and beautiful images. I can hand hold most of my shots from just after sunrise to an hour or so before sunset. Other times I need my tripod due the longer shutter speed times. Either way I am glad to have this as an addition to my toolbox.
Dasplit –
Another great Canon product.
The L series lenses are great for full frame higher pixel cameras.
Excellent landscape lens.
MattO –
Love this lens. Sharpest pictures garunteed. Little heavy but was a ADC for me
JohnB –
Typical Canon quality. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. So far, very good quality.
ryan –
Great lens. works well for landscapes and image stabilzed for video as well
Freddy –
Great lenses for video and picture heavy but great quality
Nice –
So far this is one good lens i was able to purchase it in store there are a lot of good reviews but i haven’t used it enough to give a fair review on reliability an quality..
genodo –
It’s wide with zoom, L series, and image stabilization, what more can you ask for, for that great price point. (1099+tax at the time)
I needed a lens day of a shoot but what I had in my bag wasn’t wide enough, so ordered a few hours before, and was set for the rest of the day. Definitely will be part of my secondary photo gear set, as well as for video.
Daniel –
Great lense for landscape photography or any wide angle situation. Super sharp and great quality
Hello –
Great lens! I definitely recommend this lens to anyone! Happy with my purchase!
Nice –
Great optics
Nice hood
Handles beautifully
Great addition to my lens collection for indoor use
Forphotog –
Very happy. Ultimately went with a different lens but hard to beat this value.
Julia –
Its great quality and easy to use. I’d recommend it!
Createadisplayname –
It’s a pretty solid lens for the money, and was a better buy than the RF 14-35mm for my particular use case. It seems to work flawlessly on the EOS R5 through an EF-RF adapter, and also works well on my EF mount film camera. The autofocus is quick and accurate, but the only real downside is that you will be able to hear the autofocus motor if you’re recording a video. Other than that one detail, it’s great quality and easy to use.
CyborgKangaroo –
Best overall lens, it’s very versatile, sharp and clear at the corners. Was debating the F2.8 vs this and honestly could not justify the extra $1,000 for the small upgrade for the other lens. Very happy with this one and saved some money
Trap –
Perfect lens. One year and still haven’t upgraded.
LaurenHaggard –
This is one of my most used lens. Great for shooting real estate
operaguy –
This is a super lens. I use it almost daily for landscape and street shots. Results are tack sharp and the lens is built like a tank.
Paul –
Great photos with this wide angle lens. I recommend it.
JGIRL –
This is a great lens for the price. I didn’t necessarily need the f/2.8, so this was a great buy.
Latenightburger –
Excellent lens for wide views. Capture more scenery for landscape photography
Shivers –
I love it. I use this len for real estate photography.
Mike –
Excellent lens – well worth the money. Works perfectly with an adapter on R series cameras.
Luke –
Spent a lot of time researching and comparing and chose this lens. Great decision on my part.
Jean –
This lens has worked well for real estate and landscapes
Yuni –
It does the job just need to work a little bit more with your ISO and speed to get a clear light when is a night or not sunny photoshoot
tokyosushi –
Canon L lenses hold value. I bought this years ago and it’s still the same price.
It’s a must have in your kit if you’re going to be shooting wide photography.
Max aperture is F4, which is fine because you want to close down for sharper/everything in focus.
MelindaD –
I bought this lens for taking wide angle shots of homes for sale. It is perfect for the job.
Iris –
It works wonderfully! Super easy to use and does the job well. My only complaint is that it’s expensive, especially with the warranty. Other than that, I love. I use it for real estate photography so
alexkywalkee –
Not the fastest around town, but who’s in a hurry (and arguably you shouod alwsyd use a tripod for “tack sharp photos) photographing good wide angle shots? Very portsble and elegant.
