Beware! If you do not buy the extended warranty from Best Buy, they will only accept returns for a very short period (30-45 days I believe). Even though the advertising states a 1 year warranty.
Best Buy declined my return after this really nice microwave broke. (Center wheel quit spinning).. They had me deal with Breville directly and I had to pack and ship it back to Breville. Once Breville received confirmation of it being shipped, Breville was supposed to send a replacement. It’s been almost four weeks with NO microwave now!
I have always been impressed with Breville products, including this microwave until it broke.
Best Buy advertises a one year warranty although after less than a month or two, Best Buy refuses to service the product they sell and makes you deal with Breville directly.
Super inconvenient!!!
I’m wearing my toaster oven out. It’s also a Breville, but it works fine.

Worked for 6 months, then started give me headaches everytime I turned it on. May be it was leaking some radiation? It felt like the microwave was frying my head. Then suddenly the microwave stopped working, when I pressed the start button. I returned it.

This microwave works well and it looks good. Feels a bit cheaper than you might expect for a $400 microwave but all of that is pointless because unless you can tolerate a microwave that runs even after you’re done using it, do not buy this one!
I contacted Breville support and they confirmes that the microwave is designed in such a way that no matter how short the cooking duration, once the timer stops a cooling fan which is louder than the actual microwave will kick in and run anywhere from a few seconds up to five minutes. For me that is not tolerable so I had to return this microwave which I otherwise would’ve been happy to own.

The microwave is pleasing to the eye but falls a bit short for the price tag. After a little over a year, the soft close door stop shutting by itself. The microwave has never been able to pop popcorn without leaving unpopped kernels and burning the rest . The reheat button will reheat your food until it’s so hot and overcooked that you don’t want to eat it anymore. I probably won’t would’ve purchased a different microwave with a cheaper price tag if I would’ve known of the issues later on.

This has been a great purchase. We’ve been using the Breville Smooth Wave microwave for a couple of weeks now and we really enjoy it. It’s quiet when the microwave is heating the food and if you choose to turn the chime off then there is no sound when it’s finished heating. Once you’ve pushed the sound off, it stays off until you manually turn the chime back on. Cooking is very even and it’s simply to dial up the time to your desired settings. It has many pre-programed heating cycles but so far we’ve only used the auto defrost, which is simple and easy to use. The unit is good looking and the stainless steel interior is easy to clean.

I bought this microwave in 2021 and was thrilled with its performance compared to my ancient unit. No more spatters or burned foods. This model really reheats and cooks well. However one of the features that I really liked was the auto-close feature on the door. However, this stopped working after about a year. I called Breville service and was told there was no help or replacement since I was outside the one-year guarantee. Too bad as I like this model but am very disappointed in this failure.

I have used this microwave oven only one and half year, and it’s dead now. No power on at all. I’m so disappointed with this expensive microwave oven. Soft close door was broken a few month ago. And now it developed some sort of short circuit and started sparking internally when I plug in making it a fire hazard.

This is an excellent microwave. The reviews that raved about the ‘Smart Reheat’ knowing the perfect temperature every time is true! We used to use trial and error to reheat everything on our old unit. Since the largest amount of usage is reheating, this is the perfect microwave. The only complaint is that the fan continues to run after the heating is complete.

In short, this microwave worked well for maybe two years, then the soft close functionality on the door started failing. After three years, the magnetron started failing, and now it’s done. This is my third Breville product, and if history is a guide, it has typical Breville behavior – Great design, great features, horrendous longevity and reliability. For the price, I’d have expected it to last longer than it did, as for this price, I would buy two top-line LG microwaves, and they’d probably last longer than a cumulative 3-year period.
Other notes:
(1) Power is noticeably lower than my last microwave, so food takes longer to heat up when on full power.
(2) Soft close functionality is AMAZING! When it works
(3) You can adjust the volume of the beeper, and even turn it off.
(4) 30-second increment button is great, and much better than 1 minute increment button.
(5) Knob works okay to adjust time. Sometimes it does feel like a keypad would have been better.
(6) Clock display is hard to read in low lighting because it does not glow in the dark.

This microwave is solidly built and feels durable. The soft-close door is a nice touch, and the menu is easy to figure out. What’s cool is that you can adjust the power while your food is still cooking, which is a feature I’ve never had before.
The reheating sensing functions work well, as long as you don’t fully cover the items. Overall, it’s a user-friendly microwave that gets the job done without any unnecessary frills.

Make sure you press the door closed, or else the turntable will not turn. Giving you an error message. Do not rely on the self close door. It does not pull it tight enough for the microwave to think that it’s closed. Other than that it’s a good microwave. The turntable is a bit noisy. The plate is set correctly, it’s just noisy.

Wore out two Samsungs with the rotary dial for setting cooking time, which is a feature we really liked. Decided to switch brands and happy we did. This is by far a better looking microwave, quieter and easier to clean. It has the same convenient dial but so many more features. The only complaint my husband has is that the clock is not illuminated when not in use—a very minor feature considering there is a illuminated clock three feet away on the stove.

Absolutely THE BEST microwave I’ve ever owned ( and I’ve had many) ! It does everything the description says it does! Many options for cooking different foods but still very easy to use. I love the quiet close feature and the option to Mute the musical sounds when it’s done. Check out all the settings on the inside of the door in the pics! It’s super whisper quiet while it’s running and even has a 30 second fan feature after you take the food out to cool down! This was my 2nd Breville appliance and I’ve since purchased a 3rd ( a blender). Breville appliances may cost more but they’re 1000% worth the investment!

I like this microwave. From the different musical sounds it use to the dial controls, I found it to be quite refined and intuitive. The microwave power is high and consistent. However quality issues are abound. First thing that went on it was the soft closing door about two months into owning it. We dealt with that and just pushed door close. This is breville thing. Our in-laws have same model and soft close doesn’t work on it anymore either. Then today, about 1.5 years from purchase, the thing started tripping our circuit breaker. Turns out on troubleshooting that it somehow started shorting. It was pulling such a draw in power that when I unplugged it and went to plug it back in, it popped with an electrical arc/spark the scorched the outlet(see picture).
I love this thing, so much so I went and bought another. Just this one I got an extended warranty on. But I couldn’t recommend it to people without warning them about the quality issues.

We bought this microwave 12/21/2021 with the extended 2 year warraty protection through The Total Tech Plan and the unit died 1/3/2024. The unit was not as powerful as previous models we owned, the soft door closing stopped working months ago and it was the most money we ever spent on a microwave. I’ve been using microwaves for over 40 years and this Breville is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. I’ve owned it for over 10 months now and it gets used many times a day in my household. The smart/sensor functions work incredibly well. It cooks, reheats, and defrosts evenly. It takes a little longer than other microwaves when using the smart/sensor settings, but I think Breville programmed it that way to run at lower power levels in order to heat things more gently and evenly. The “soften butter” and “melt chocolate” settings work brilliantly–no more scorched chocolate or sticks of butter that are melted in the center and still hard on the outside.
I LOVE how quiet this unit is!! The fan seems about half as loud as other microwaves on the market, and you can silence all the beeps for button presses and the end-of-cycle chime. Amazing! And the soft-close door is the best! I no longer get woken up by the slamming of the microwave door in the kitchen, which is close to my bedroom!
The stainless steel interior is bright and beautiful. I was afraid it would be much harder to clean than a typical plastic interior, as stainless steel often shows fingerprints and sponge smears, but this one cleans up so easily and looks brand new with a simple wipe of a sponge! Splatters wipe right off. And I know looks are subjective, but I feel like it has one of the best looking exterior designs on the market with two knobs and just a few small buttons and a large, informative LCD display. Aesthetically speaking, it pairs very nicely with our Cuisinart Chef’s Convection toaster oven, which is sitting on top of it.
Speaking of those knobs, I was concerned that it might be a slower and fussier way of inputting times than a standard 10-key numeric keypad, but it’s actually quite intuitive and quick. The default operating time is 30 seconds which can be started with a single press of the timer knob. Each additional press adds 30 seconds to the timer. Turning the knob left or right decreases or increases the time (in finer increments as you get closer to zero and larger increments as the time increases), so once you get the hang of it you can dial in the desired cooking time very quickly. The other knob allows you to quickly change the power level, even while in use. However, with all of the smart settings, I typically don’t even have to specify a cooking time or power level.
I haven’t had a single quality issue with this microwave. It’s performed flawlessly for almost a year now and I hope to be using it for the next decade or more. It costs a little more than other microwaves, but I think it’s worth it for the benefit I get out of it every single day.

The microwave itself is nice. Has a lot of really nice features and very easy to make selections. The issue is with the soft close door feature. This was great WHEN IT WORKED. After about 1 year of use, it no longer closes all the way. You have to push it closed. Tried many different methods to try to get it to soft-close on its but none works for more than a day or two
