Great sound, top of its class. Pricey, however worth it. Since it is a larger and heavy speaker, unpacking it solo was a nail biting experience bc I did not want to f it up. The engineering side of me tells me there could be a better way to unpack such an item. Fortunately, I took my time and put down enough padding so I didn’t have any issues. If you have a second pair of hands, I highly recommend using them.

These stood out in the listening room and won my ear. My next quest was to find a worthy two channel integrated amp. I spent several days listening to many models at local dealers with these same speakers – an ideal scenario! I heard Yamaha, NAD, Rotel, Marantz, Denon, Gold Note, Sim Audio and McIntosh. All manufacturers had different sound signatures and what became clear is that these speakers love power, and frankly NEED power. I quickly learned I had to find something with 200 WPC before I was happy with the stage and overall sound at low to high volumes. This surprised me based on the sensitivity rating, but it is absolutely true – to really hear these you need some serious current. After a full day of hearing offerings in the $1 – $4k price range, I decided to try Sim Audio’s Moon 700i. Mind blown. Seriously blown. These speakers came to life, literally night and day from everything else. I went from happy to jaw on the floor ecstatic! You could have told me $15,000 speakers were playing. My wife was with me, who isn’t into this stuff and you should have seen the look on her face. Even though the MOON sounded the best overall, I went with a McIntosh MA-9000 and am very happy. To summarize – if these are at the top end of your budget and you do not have an adequate power option, you may still be happy, but you will not get what is possible from these gorgeous speakers. Do yourself a favor and listen to these on a high current, two channel or mono block setup. You will be impressed. My Excellent Value rating is ONLY based on having a high-end integrated amp where these become a serious value for the money.

These are the best speakers I’ve ever owned. I purchased these as an upgrade from the Bowers and Wilkins 603’s ( best decision ever ) . I was blown away by the deep base and clear highs associated with 702’s . It’s like I’m in the room with the band . If I close my eyes I can actually see where every band member is standing while playing their instruments. With my older albums I hear things I’ve never heard before on albums I grew up listening to in the 70’s and 80’s .

Very good sounding speakers. I read every review on the internet and the universal high praise for these speakers is deserved. Sat in display room at Best Buy with eyes closed listening to these and other b and w tower (and bookshelf) speakers and although they all sounded very good, these speakers when powered properly sounded great. Be advised these speakers want high power (I bought an amp to help the receiver), but you will be rewarded with great sound. The highs are delightful. The bass is strong. If you can get these speakers you will be smiling with audio pleasure.

Its really a dream speaker, i don’t think there is anything like it. it might not sound. there is a 100 hour break in period, so if it sounds dull or not full let it run overnight little above listing level volume.

I have been a longtime admirer of Bowers & Wilkins for close to 40 years. I decided to “upgrade” my home theater and 2-channel audio speakers. I listened to the various speakers at Magnolia and completely fell in love with this speakers. The tweeter placed on top offer the best separation that I have ever listened to! The bass response is awesome and not over-powering, very tight. The clarity and overall imaging from these speakers is clean, tight and you feel as though you are at a concert in the front row!

I can’t say enough about these speakers. The clarity is impressive. They are power hungry and require a good amp but it is definitely worth it. Once they broke in they sound like the artists are in your room when listening to music. They are revealing so I stick with CDs and 4K DVDs.

This was. an indulgence but it was hard to resist with the discount Best Buy was offering- $1700 off per speaker. I’ve owned some great speakers over the years and the B&Ws rank up there with best enclosure speakers I’ve owned that don’t take up half a wall. very natural, balanced and transparent sound. I’m really enjoying them. I’d love to listen to them in comparison to the new S3 or the Diamond series to see if there’s an appreciable difference. regardless, those are out of my league price wise.

This is a speaker that is noted for its excellent clarity and presentation of detail and it definitely comes through in those aspects. Each instrument is clearly defined. The soundstage is well presented. It disappoints in a few areas for me. Its size and design along with its glossy finish makes it dominate my room. This is obviously so subjective and it may not be even as negative for me if I had a deeper space. I did not have a choice with the finish as I bought the only available open box set. I have seen B&W speakers with real wood veneers and would likely regret my choice in the long term if I kept them. In terms of sound, I have two criticisms which became more apparent in a side by side audition with Sonus Faber speakers. The treble can be on the metallic, edgy side with some sibilance in higher notes such as female voices pronouncing the letter s and cymbal hits. Bass lacks a feeling of full extension. One could get a subwoofer to complement the speakers, but I prefer a two speaker set up. I think many others could settle in and enjoy these speakers so they earn the four stars awarded here.

I had the B&W 602 s2 and boy i have to say the upgrade is worth every penny. The detached tweeter definitely makes a huge difference. Voices sound soo clean and crisp. I paired these with an SVS sb13 sub and just WOW!!! These speakers sound amazing and look amazing.

A month after I got them, one had to be exchanged as one of the woofers came apart inside the cabinet and was making a horrible rattle. After a year, one of the tweeters quit working completely. Now after year 2+ years, the other tweeter stopped working. Best Buy no longer has them so I have to deal with warranty service and shipping at my cost. 2 dead tweeters and a woofer that came apart within the 1st month. Very, very disappointed after 2 years of ownership. I will never buy another B&W product again. They look great but Im tired of exchanging them. They are powered by an Emotiva XPA Gen3 amp pushing 250 watts peak and these speakers are rated for 300 rms. So they are not being over driven. Poor QC!

These are fantastic speakers, the depth of the instruments and voices is incredible. I hear passages in the music I have not previously heard. I do recommend purchasing high quality cables to go with the speakers. I upgraded my speaker cables upon recommendation from my AV consultant and the change brought out even greater performance in the speakers.

Amazing speakers. The S2s are now selling for deep discounts now that the S3s are out. I purchased four 702 S2s and a pair of 705 S2s to fill in the bed layer speakers for my home theater. And they are Amazing once the system and room are tuned in. Movies sound better than a full theater. Jazz, Classical, night club, classic rock, and other music sound amazing in both 2 channel stereo, 7.1, Neural 2D and 3D, and surround Stereo settings on my Denon x4800H. I was listening to George Winston the other night and did not realize Stereo Surround was active. Integration between the 702s and 705s is that good.
If you have a choice between the new 600 S3 floor standing speakers and an open box or floor model 702 S2 then go with the 702 S2. Match this up with a quality Integrated stereo amplifier or solid AV Receiver and you’ll have yourself a system that your friends will envy. I recommend something with either room correction, room acoustic treatments, and/or Tone controls and you’ll have yourself a fantastic system that your friends will envy.
If you are worried about missing accessories like feet and grills then you can get them at Encompass’s website. The Accessory pack for the 683 work with the 702 S2.
