Description
  • 1″ Carbon Dome Tweeter
Pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail resulting from a Carbon Coating on our aluminum Double Dome Tweeter. The closest performance to our Diamond Dome Tweeters.
  • Solid Body Tweeter
Milled from a solid block of aluminum, the solid body tweeter housing design creates an acoustically optimized housing for the tweeter – one that’s exceptionally inert and resistant to resonances. You’ll enjoy smooth and clear highs.
  • 6.5″ Continuum Midbass
Continnum is a woven material that blends control with flexibility. The result is breathtaking clarity and power. Hear voices, guitars and bass instruments in a whole new way.
  • Driver Decoupling
Decoupling places a shock-absorber between the cabinet and drivers to short circuit detail smearing distortion. The result is greater clarity and pinpoint imaging by reducing distortions that soften and blur what you hear.
  • Flowport
Reduces air turbulence for clearer bass by dimpling the flared port.
  • Magnetic grille
Remains acoustically transparent while protecting the speaker’s components.

  1. Frog

I wanted to experience a sound system with crisp and clear tone They nailed it with this one. Love it

  2. Ralphie

Very clear sound, great for movies. Great sound for music too.

  3. albert

These are exceptional speakers. Driven well by Mcintosh amplification, I’m more than happy with the purchase.

  4. Audiofile

Very nice sound, revealing and elegant. On the warm side of neutral and just right for my ears. If you close your eyes, you would think they were floor-standers. They are absolutely beautiful, stunning in black gloss.

  5. MusicFan

I have had these speakers for 5 years. They sound amazing. Highly recommend them.

  6. EARL

this speakers sound amazing! They are some of the best out there!

  7. Ragingfighter

What an elegant looking and sounding speaker. Even without proper set up just for my initial sound test they were amazing. Being a current owner of the 606 series one I can tell you these are a humongous step up. The soundstage opens up to magical levels the 606 cannot replicate and the amount of detail is immaculate. I’ve never heard the 800 series and I’m sure that they are a step above this but I could probably say in confidence this probably gives you 85 to 90% of what the 800 series gives you. Truly amazing and highly recommended. Great for music and movies.

  8. Jannabana

I wanted so badly to love these. Maybe so much that I set the bar way to high. I started with the 606 S2 and I loved it. Then I thought, if this is so nice, then why not step up to the 706 S2? I did just that and was immediately floored in the difference. Then that little voice inside me said psssst…..what about the 705 S2???? Best Buy had an open box set that was only $400 more than the the 706’s so I said what have I got to lose?
Upon first testing of them I said hmmmm….is my wiring out of phase? No it wasn’t. i played a few more tracks but I didn’t get that initial tingle down my spine that I was hoping for. I toed them in a little, then a little more. I moved seats. I closed my blinds. I turned off my lights. (Not really, but I really tried everything) I listened to a wide range of music. I watched countless movie clips. Listening to Janis Joplin was truly a painful experience. It literally hurt.
I read countless reviews about B&W having a certain sound that shall we say are sharp, harsh or sibilant. With the 606 and 706 I did not have any complaints what so ever. The 705’s though, to me, are very bright. Much much more so than the others. Then it hit me, the tweeters are at a different height now! It’s about 3 inches higher than the 706. So me being the genius I am, I grabbed a pillow to sit on to raise my ears lol. Still nothing. The low end also has a different sound. Maybe because the driver is in line with the port? It doesn’t have that punch that got with the 706. The 705’s seem to have more of a mid range sound. I am not a certified audiophile by any means. I do however have the experience of having heard many many different speakers. The 706’s are in the very high range of that list. The 705’s, definitely not. In case you are wondering, I am running these off of a NAD T758 V3i. I know it’s not a Rotel but it’s definitely no slouch for sure. I can’t really blame the receiver for the sound, especially when it has been what was powering the other B&Ws. I don’t think these are worth the extra money to be honest. I’m sure there’s people who would say differently. I’m sure there’s even one person reading saying “this guys out of his mind! He wouldn’t know good sound if it slapped him in the face!” I do love the way it looks though. It’s top notch in that department. Just wish I could have loved it more.

  9. BAMAJAMA15

These speakers are amazing. These are worth every penny!!! Don’t know what else to say

  10. Clemke20

These were a great value before price increased to 3k. There are a lot of better speakers on the market once you get to the 3k price point.

  11. BW705

The speakers are wonderful, and a good value. But then anywhere else you can find a value and not Best Buy. I hesitate to call what I received as customer service. From start to finish the service sucked.

  12. Bisi

This is the best value Bowers & Wilkins speaker on the market for the price.

  13. Classicalgeek

Spectacular sound depth and quality. Excellent aural image. Easily installed and set up. Fits nicely in our bookcase shelves. Met our expectations for an upgrade in our home entertainment center. Great for classical music.

  14. PrimeOn

Great product, efficient and easy to use. Will recommend to anyone

  15. amazing

great sound.love, love love. best sound ever!!!!!!!

  16. Kingoftheworld

I love these speakers ! In fact I thought they were so good I purchased 2 pair . I would definitely refer them to a friend. If you can swing it in your budget go for it .

  17. SamRo

Exactly what you would expect from B&W! An amazing pair of speakers with spectacular sound quality while producing a rich bass.

  18. Fred

I bought several of these bookshelf speakers in the various sizes offered. They sound great for being so small and the amount of of bass they produce is unbelievable. if you can do yourself a favor and buy this pair of speakers they are just as good as Sonus Faber speakers that I have as a comparison.

  19. JohnA

Using in a smaller room and i am very pleased with theses speakers. Imaging and detail are incredible. I am driving them with a 200 watt/ch amp and they seem to handle it nicely. I have speakers from Focal and Definitive Technology speakers which are great on their own, but these seem a more accurate in the detail of the sound ( i also spent more on these so they should). Worth a listen. I am not disappointed with the purchase.

  20. SidS

Amazing speakers, better than pretty much any other bookshelf you can buy. The cabinets are a bit plain – just gloss finished “boxes” but that’s really the only complaint.

  21. Sammie

I LOVE these speakers!!! They are so much fun to listen to. I mostly listen to 2 channel music and I must say everything sounds good on them. Please make sure you give them enough clean power. If powered properly, you will be rewarded. I want a second set for my bedroom.

  22. Future

The Bowers and Wilkins 705 S2s were my first audiophile loudspeakers. I have the pair Bi-Amped and on the 700 series stand connected to my Marantz 7015 AV Receiver. Ive owned them now for a little over a yr and a half and all i can say is the price makes sense. Expensive investment to the average consumer dont get me wrong, but the quality of sound, the build, the aesthetics is all just incredible. Anything i decide to do… watch a movie, show, listen to music, is always just a great time and to me that was the point! I also have the HTM71 center channel, and m1s for rears and ceiling. Any guest who wants to listen to their favorite song, or watch the newest movie, leave with a smile, or are genuinely impressed. The crystal clear sounds on highs/midrange is just top-notch. To the point where im not as impressed with movie theaters audio anymore, it just sounds better at home. No kidding. When you get your own pair im sure you’ll agree. Going back to the highs and midrange, if youre watching a movie, dont expect mind blowing low bass levels. If you want the best of both worlds then grab a nice subwoofer or two, or go for the Floorstanding B&Ws 702 S2s! In conclusion, the experiences have been amazing and have changed my perspective to sound! At this point I can understand an audiophiles reach for better audio equipment and speakers, and have now started truly appreciating a musical artists choice of how they master their music! Hope this little review helped! Wish you all the best! Enjoy!

  23. SuMo

Premium sound, finish and price as can be expected with B&W. Lot has already been said and can be found online. A few things in my experience: a good amp, subwoofer and B&W stands elevate the already great sound to a completely different level. Yes, would double the cost of the speakers but completely worth it.

  24. Tlee

Had my eyes on some B&W speakers. Great reviews on this speakers so I had to check them out. They had a sale on them so I bit.

  25. Nice

Great pair of speakers outstanding!!!! Love be them

  26. SteveC

When I now listen to music in my playlists or on vinyl after buying the Bowers & Wilkins 700 series speakers, it is like listening to these very familiar pieces of music for the first time. I hear things I haven’t heard before. There is greater clarity, greater definition of the sounds of the instruments. The have a presence that my previous speakers didn’t. have. The tweeters allow you to hear the higher tones but without the raspiness that many tweeters have. They enhance the music. The base and mid range components are equally excellent.
To use a visual analogy: it would be like going to the eye doctor and being able to see one or two more rows of letters on the eye chart that you couldn’t see clearly before.

  27. Speakerreview

Better than Bose. Much better. Would recommend to anyone.

  28. Franklin

I have given these high review previously. This was correction from black to rose nut.

  29. Good

Great for music and movies, the sound is loud and clear.

  30. Mic31415

This is an amazing speaker, I will say I was disappointed at first, but it was all on my receiver setup. After working through all that, they are incredible. The speaker almost disappears and the detail of all the sounds you can hear is amazing. In addition, the bass these small speakers can put out is incredible. Highly recommended. With the S3 version coming out, these are an incredible deal now, with many reviews saying the S3 is only a minor improvement. For my home theater setups, I coded them as small, but moved the crossover down to 60 hertz and enjoy that much better.

I did get stands for these, as the sound isolation really brings out a cleaner sound (at a minimum do get better feet for them). For my stand I got the Monolith 24 inch ones (has the tweeter at the perfect height for seated positions), I filled them with pool filter sand from local hardware store about 3/4 the way up, did not use the spikes, and then used the half globe sound isolation pads, but did drill two holes on the edges towards the back with rubber gromets in them to connect an M6 bolt into the back screws of the speaker to hold it softly in place.

  31. arunaryan

Amazing bookshelf speakers. I have paired these with Cambridge Audio CXA81 integrated amplifier and an SVS 3000 micro sub and its audio heaven for 2 channel listening.

  32. Gmo5

Beautiful sound. Easy set up. Definitely better on stands

  33. Jefferylk0

Really love the separate carbon tweeter and live sound this give out!!

  34. ChrisB

Bought 2 pair of 705 S2 on sale for my home theater side and rear sound. Good quality speakers to match with my 800 series front 3.

  35. Hal9000

I liked these speakers when I heard them in the showroom. Now that I have had a chance to listen to them at home, I like them even more. They are particularly good at reproducing voices which is very important as I use them for video and music. I highly recommend.

  36. Vikumf

As a music enthusiast these are one of my favorite speakers. They sound just as amazing as they look. You simply can’t go wrong with these B&W 705 s2.

  37. Prince

Auditioned a few at the local audio specialty store, ended up buying these as I preferred the sound. Worth every penny.

  38. JustinG

Great speakers with amazing clarity. Great for listening to edm with the addition of a nice subwoofer.

  39. Sgt337

I just purchased these to compare against a pair of KEF LS50 Meta and think that these sound better. I hear better detail and imaging and I feel that sensation that I am listening to something special. I paired these with an old Sony DA3600ES, an Arcam Bluray, and an old apple tv for airplay and I think that this sounds pretty amazing. I picked these up for less than $1100 and I am happy with them.

  40. Ed1952

Purchased at an excellent sale price for the speakers.

  41. RobertW

    Great speaker…………………………………

  42. Marc

Finally got the speakers I’ve wanted all my life!!

  43. Aaron

What can i say. I am using two sets of these as side and rear surounds and they sound and look fantastic! I got them for a great price also! Viva La Best Buy!

  44. ITJIm

These are excellent speakers. I used to have a pair of Bowers and Wilkins 685 S2s, upgraded to a pair of SVS Ultra bookshelvfs, and then replaced them with the 705 S2s when the 705 S3s forced clearance prices.

I matched the 705 S2s with a MartinLogan 600X down firing 10″ sub, and an SVS Soundbase mini receiver. My primary source is Apple Music connected to my iPhone using an RCA to stereo mini jack. I know some folks have complained about the stratospheric treble, but I find that the SVS plays neutral enough that the treble is only an issue at higher volumes than I would normally listen to my music.

They image wonderfully. Have a wide sound stage. And, frankly, I just really enjoy listening to them. Jazz, Classical, classic rock, pop, K-pop, and almost everything I throw at these sounds terrific. In all honesty, my current configuration is rather weak compared to what these speakers could do in a dedicated room. My home office is limited to 8 feet x 12 feet with 8-foot ceilings. I am doing everything wrong with the speakers from an Audiophile perspective. These sit on my desk and flank my monitor. At my distance, they do not require a lot of power to drive. I was a bit nervous about doing this but they are doing wonderful in this configuration. I can listen to these all day long without any issues. Even at low levels, the music is rich and detailed. They are toed in slightly on my desk but not pointing directly at me.

I have played the 705s with the port plugs in and out. I prefer the port plugs in for my room. The sub does a better overall job in my opinion. But, depending on the content, these speakers alone will do the job. The 705s did a great job of integrating with the SVS Soundbase and with the MartinLogan sub.

These piano black speakers are wonderful to look at. They do attract fingerprints and dust though. I find that I have to wipe them down with a soft microfiber block weekly. But, even wet, the microfiber does leave swirl marks in the paint. I had to polish the speakers with Meguire’s Ultimate Polish (Lightly polish) and then applied a coat of Meguire’s wax to seal them up. This really brought out the shine. Please keep in mind that you do this at your own risk.

    Overall, these are fantastic speakers.

  45. vermy3

I bought a pair of these 705 S2s and purchased some speaker stands and left them there for a month or two. I finally got around to listening and thought to myself, these don’t sound ANYTHING like the B&W sound. Silly me forgot to break them in. Their placement should be toed in to get the best imaging result

  46. XiaowenZ

    Lakes bass.
    Great tweeters and midrange.
    Shelf speakers have its limitations

  47. AndrewA

B&w makes me smile when paired with the right equipment. I am running a tube amp with the 705 s2 . Sounds amazing !

  48. Greatproduct

Great speakers. Clarity and brilliance shine through when listening to music. The absolute best by bookshelf speaker sounds much bigger than it is. Recordings and music ver articulate and you can hear each subtlety.

  49. Toocool

Excellent sounding, excellent build quality and great price.

more stuff i thought i needed to buy but have no use for
