    I purchased the Bose USB Link (Model: 852270-0010) directly from Bose as it was available earlier than third party sellers (not in the bundled “UC” product).

    I use my Bose 700 headphones primarily for business and conference calls, mostly Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and often spent up to 6 hours per day in online meetings. The mic experience on the 700’s is unmatched!

    This product caught my eye because it said it could improve the online meeting experience, with being “always plugged in” and “improved range”. I tested extensively with my 2018 MacBook Pro laptop. Unfortunately, this product did not live up to the specs or marketing.

    USB Connectivity:
    Annoying that this isn’t an USB-C adapter for the price, especially when the 700’s are USB-C native. The user guide shows it plugging into a usb-port on a 2015 MacBook… but for a product that’s released 5 years later!

    Range:
    The range of the USB Link is notably less than with the normal, non-adapter bluetooth connection when traveling through obstacles. With normal bluetooth, I can get through 1-2 same-floor walls with no interference at a distance of 30 feet. With the USB Link, standing in the same spots, I experience severe loss in audio quality. I wasn’t able to test if the line-of-sight range is greater.

    Seamless connection to cloud apps:
    The USB Link gives your 700’s additional controls in Microsoft Teams. You can tap and hold the printed “Bose logo” on the headphones to mute/unmute in teams. The headphones play a sound over the audio to notify when you’re muted/unmuted. The mute/unmute sound isn’t that different, so all this takes some memory to remember when the exact spot to tap is, and remember what sound is for being on mute. This caused me to fumble around while my team mates were waiting for me to speak. Secondly, even if you unmute from your keyboard/mouse, the headphones still play the unmute sound which feels unnecessary and distracting (this doesn’t occur over normal bluetooth). Keep in mind without the USB Link, you can still mute the headphones by pressing the bottom right “voice assistant” button on the headphones—and you will be muted in Microsoft Teams though the app won’t show you’re muted. Ironically, the headphones say “muted” or “unmuted” when you use the button. This feels like a superior experience.

    Switch between mobile & laptop:
    Since the 700’s already support two bluetooth connections at once, not sure what this does differently.

    Multiple headsets:
    One advantage this adapter might give you is if you have multiple Bose headsets that need to be connected at the same time. I only use one headset, so this didn’t matter to me.

    Summary:
    I’m guessing the USB Link adapter is for Bose’s large corporate / call center clients who have shared PC’s without bluetooth and need to support multiple headsets from one machine. There is no reason an individual using a Mac should use this, especially because the 700s are near perfect as-is, and for the price, skip!

    First of all, it should have been free for those who already own Bose NC 700. Why do we have to pay for their mistake that Bose could not do it right the very first time?

    Second, I still cannot plugin directly to laptop or computer – it could not overcome the radio frequencies emitted by laptop or computer. So, I have to keep this away from a computer using USB extension cable or plugin to a docking station.

    The only difference between this and ten dollar Bluetooth adapter is once they are paired I can just plug this into any computer and it works automatically – I do not need to search my Bose NC 700 from Windows or Mac OS.

    pairs well with bose noise cancelling 700, however, costs too much given its just a bluetooth adapter. Would be nice if was USB-C in order to work with newer laptops

    These add no value. In fact, feels like it makes it worse.
    the Speakers themselves are still great quality, I just don’t understand $70 for a usb linc that does nothing but cause problems.

    It works but needs constantly to pair if you turn of Bluetooth on your phone or turned off your phone itself.

    This pairs quickly and allows me to move my headphones from PC to PC to laptop or wherever I am working for my shift. Very clear voice on Teams meetings!

    I got this with my Best Buy points – I would NOT pay for this Bose USB Link… but a nice tool for those working with PC(s). This USB link is a pain to get it to work and keep working for those in the Apple world. But works nicely with Pc(s).

    It helps with connect of the Bose 700 Headset as it is more streamlined. Not really improved quality but helpful.

    I think it is overpriced but no other option

    The USB link works as advertised. Connects easily and quickly. Works well with my Bose 700 headphones on my work computer that doesn’t have built in Bluetooth and is normally locked from Bluetooth adapters. This seems to just show it as headphones plugged in and transmits the Bluetooth on its own to get around the Bluetooth restrictions on the work computer. Doesn’t work with my Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds. So, just be aware it is only for the Bose 700. Is expensive but I’m happy that I can now use my Bose 700s for work.

    Bit pricy but works perfect as expected. Good sounds quality when sounds only mode. Sounds quality drops when headset is in mic mode (ex: discord, zoom, teams, etc) but this is standard behavior among every bluetooth headset connects to Windows. Very stable connection. Works well with QC45 as well.

    Too expensive for what it does. It works as described but the price makes it unattractive.
