I reaseached quicte a few biometric safes online. Barska appeared to have the best reviews with the least false positive and false negative fingerprint reading rates. So I went with the Barska here. Free second day shipping. It came very-well packaged. The instructions were very simple and set up was a breeze.
1) Biometric/Fingerprint reading: I set up 3 fingers on my right hand and my thumb on the left (of the 32 slots available). I must have tested it 20+ times before putting it in my closet. ALL of the 4 programmed fingers worked flawlessly, even at slightly different angles. I had read that other biometric safes has issues with this. It only misread a correct finger a couple times out of hundreds of times, and even in those situations I was easily able to reset the reader, re-read, and get the safe to open. From beginning of first false read to second appropriate read with safe opening was about 10 seconds- as opposed to 4 seconds with correct read. NOT ONCE did a non-programmed finger work. Very important since I plan on storing a gun in this safe with kids in the house!
2) Construction: most safes in this range are somewhat flimsy. This had the best reviews, but if anyone where to take the safe with them, they could be in it in no time. The steel is somewhat thin, but it comes with anchoring bolts if you want to mount it, which I would recommend.
All in all, this is a great safe that does what it is supposed to do: only let programmed fingerprints in and keep non-programmed fingerprints out. If you want significant protection against theft, fire or water damage, you may want to consider something else.

Researched this type of safe. Barska has a stellar reputation. Quality of the safe was excellent. Price for the biometric option in this quality of safe was less than I would have expected. I feel very confident that my firearms are secure from unaurthorized access. My only concern was the thiness of the carpet supplied for the floor of the safe. I solved this concern buy cutting a piece of 1/2 inch foam and installing it beneath the carpet.

Great safe for a household with hand guns, medications and kids. Quiet function lets me keep my pistol within arms reach of the bed without waking the wife when I get it out to leave in the morning. Set up is easy and fast. Multiple registrations of the same finger reduces false reads when trying to open it. Won’t stop a hardened criminal, but it will sure frustrate the #*!! out of them if they can’t get it out of the house.

I researched countless vault makers and glad i made a great choice…reguardless of what nay sayers may say. ITS CALLED READ THE DIRECTIONS PEOPLE! LOL Ive read alot of gripes from barska to gun vault to sentry everyone seems to want to pick and complain. Plain and simple i bought this to store my guns it will hold 2-3 easy with room to spare. It opens everytime in about 4 seconds.it holds 30 fingerprints in memory. It does have a silent feature when you open it.
The only this i didnt like was the bolts it came with they seemed pretty flimsy so i went to home depot and bought some thick lag screws and screwed them into my wall studs.
Best safe for the money in my humble opinion.

I was looking for a small safe to store my firearm as well as a few important papers and trinkets. I saw this come up on sale at best buy. After doing some research this appeared to be a solid, dependable little safe. Afterwards I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase. Big enough to store everything I want to store inside of it, but small enough where its set up in my bedroom and is not an eyesore or obstructing anything. The fingerprint scanner works well. I rarely get a misread but it does happen. But the safe also stores in 30 fingerprints so my girlfriend has quick access to it as well when I’m not home. All in all a quality and dependable product!
