This model is the real deal. I have a friend who’s a cop and we compared this model with the police one, which was much bigger, and the results were almost identical. I tested first after just one beer: 0.011 %BAC and 0.010 on the police model. Then after 3 more drinks over two hours, 0.045 on the S80, and 0.043 on the police model. I’m impressed this is available for only 200 bucks. Good technology.

I have purchased other(read: less expensive) breathalyzers before, but I am really impressed with this model. It’s seems to be very accurate, and doesn’t read a false positive if I breathalyze someone who hasn’t been drinking at all after someone who has. I like to have people use this at any of my parties because I will not let someone drive if they are over a .05 (I know the legal limit is .08, but better safe than sorry). I love it!!!!

this is a great looking breathalyzer though the pictures make it seem a lot higher quality than what you get. the thing that disappoints me the most is that you have to send in this breathalyzer for calibration service every 6months. when you go to the company’s website, it’s a pretty hefty fee.
i wish they made these things one price and that’s it.

i feel like i was cheated out of my $200. there’s a lot of things i could buy with $200 and a breathalyzer that doesn’t tell me my bac isn’t something i’d want. i got this bactrack breathalyzer thinking i was buying the best model available. i’m aware that i’m not buying a police breathalyzer, but i’m also not buying toy.
the only thing that disappoints me more, is that other reviewers had a good experience and i didn’t. i’m confident i used the device correctly, but when i would have 3 drinks, it would read .01. and when i’d have 5 drinks it would read .03. i sure didn’t feel like a .03.
good luck with this, but i’d look into another brand than bactrack if this is their best breathalyzer.

i bought this and it wouldn’t turn on. i put in new batteries but nothing happened. so i returned it and got a new one. the second one i got turned on so it must have been a dud. so i had two beers while i watched the game and after waiting 30 minutes i blew into my breathalyzer. it read me at .12! i was hardly buzzed.
i returned my second breathalyzer and got my money back. this thing must play it safe by just saying everyone is drunk.

I am pleased with the performance of this product. It’s simple, it works well, and the price tag is nothing compared to if the cops get you.
I reuse mouthpieces and haven’t had any problems – definitely no need to throw out a mouthpiece after a test.
The screen is bright and easy to read. That’s a plus.
Results are consistent test to test. If I blow 2-3 times in a row I get similar results. This was not the case with a previous breathalyzer I had purchased. Definitely worth the money to get this type of higher end unit.

Great tool to have. Easy to use, readings are very accurate. After I bought this unit I took it out and showed it to all my drinking buddies, they all went out and bought one too. Definitely a cool product that I recommend to anyone who drinks.

after about 30 tests i kept getting an error message. i was a little surprised at the lack of quality of this breathalyzer. it feels cheap to the touch as if it only cost pennies to make.
it seemed easy to use, though it got complicated because sometimes it would take forever to count down. my friends laughed at the idea this would be accurate.

never read a trust worthy result. would read .3 or .2 after a couple of drinks. we read the instructions and waited but same results.
somewhere in my closet collecting dust.

i was expecting something better for the amount i spent. the material felt cheap and light in the hand. regardless it read the result pretty quickly but my son blew into it to see how high he could get it and now the device doesn’t read accurately. i called tech support and they want me to send it to them to have it serviced which was almost half the cost of the machine. apparently the warranty doesn’t cover anything.
i returned it to best buy and cut my losses. i’ll do more research before buying another breathalyzer online.

I have had my Bactrack for nearly a year but held off on reviewing so I could give it a good test.
Over 110 tests later and this unit has been top notch all along. Consistent and quick results, I have tested friends and family with it and on more than one occasion myself or someone has decided not to drive as we were to close to or over the legal limit of 0.08%.
I’ve also learned a lot about how alcohol effects me differently depending on what I have had to eat, how active I have been that day, how quickly I have been drinking and what I have been drinking etc.
Came with a nice case and extra mouthpieces that I wash in the dishwasher. This unit is in my car whenever I go out.
I highly recommend it.

This breathalyzer is a little more money, but it is well worth it. The accuracy and reliability of the device is amazing. This is due to the fuel cell sensor which is the same type of sensor that law enforcement uses. I also like the compact size. Since it is so portable it is easy to bring with and it gets used that much more by myself and friends.

Love the S80! i’m glad i spent a little extra to get this model. It gives the result fast and accurate. I wouldn’t go drinking without this baby anymore!
Molly74 –
This breathalyzer is a load of junk. I drank 2 margaritas and when i pulled this breathalyzer out it read 0.00. I waited the 20 minutes and rinsed my mouth out with alcohol. I retested 4 times and got zero everytime. I took a sip of my drink and blew into it, and the device read .02. i don’t know what to think other than this thing doesn’t work, and isn’t safe to assume anywhere near accurate.
save your money and skip this breathalyzer.

I love my new breathalyzer. Every household should have one. We like to host numerous social gatherings. Most of my friends like to drink and don’t realize if or when they should be behind the wheel of a vehicle. Once I let them breathe into the breathalyzer, they change there mind about driving…this item saves lives…period!!!

I bought this item to obviously be able to check people’s alcohol levels, and I have to say it is easy to use and tests accurate. However, the restrictions of having to wait 20 minutes after eating drinking or smoking is a pain. The mouth pieces it comes with are great and easy to identify which way to place them into the machine, but the replacement ones do not have a ball in them so you have to pay more attention to what you are doing. I have used this 20-30 times so far without any problem and have shown other people how to use it also without any difficulty. I wouldn’t rely on it vs. one a cop would carry, but it does seem accurate and it super easy to use and seems really durable. I love the little case it comes in that I can throw every thing I need in one spot. If you need one or just want one, check this out.

I was so hoping that this would work. I had read a number of reviews on the various home-BAC devices and this one seemed to have the fewest negative reviews. Unfortunately, it simply never worked – ever. I did a little home test of the device. Blew prior to having anything to drink. .00. Drank a two-shot drink, waited 20 minutes, blew. .00. Not a chance I was .00. Also, some of the function buttons didn’t work. Returned it. Maybe I just had a defective one, but I won’t be taking the chance and getting another.

This is a great device that will give you an accurate reading on your BAC, if you follow the instructions.

Personally test device…it appeared to work properly. Subsequently found out that employee defeated test via gossip from other employees.

This got good reviews and I needed for to test employees of we suspect them. I’ve tested it out and so far so good.

I run a drug & alcohol treatment facility and use this model 24/7. We have five of them and have been using BACtrack units for years. This model is reasonably priced and very reliable……
Allen5 –
I find this BACTRACK Digital Breathalyzer, compact and easy to use. It seems to be quite accurate.
Mando –
A very well worth item for the price i recomend it . I had a cheaper one before that was not very accurate but this one has been very accurate
Gearjammer –
I use this in my bar to check to make sure my customers can leave safely or so I can get them a cab home
Caroline –
Very accurate (assuming you didn’t just chug a dirty martini immediately prior to blowing). It’s great to have and comes with replacement mouthpieces and a cute little case to hold it.
retired –
very easy to use but have no way to check the accuracy
RAJNI –
small and handy
works great
will sav you lots of dollars
RIES –
Good to know if one has had to much we don’t let friends drink & drive. Its pretty accurate, but Always stay safe
Bill –
This is both portable and accurate …good to take along to the brew pubs before considering driving.
Rags –
If it works I can see it being a true life saver. However if it shuts off as soon as it is turned on then how reliable can it be..
Feefifofum –
We have used this when we go out quite a few times. Once I felt like I’m too buzzed to drive and I used it I was below the limit. I still didn’t drive but it was interesting but this has stopped my brother from driving at other times because he was just above the limit. Easy to use and great tool
CoralSprings –
Is useless product; regardless how many times I have tried with no alcohol and after consuming alcohol, the reading ALWAYS show an error. I have to return it.
Cliffboswell –
Good Product, works as described. Come with a case and extra mouth peices
Maxi –
Very accurate especially for ignition locks and making sure you’re safe
