  1. AEM85

This is Audio-Technica answer to the Sennheiser HD 600. These have less highs, more mid range and more bass than the HD 600. In other words it produces a sound that is a bit warm yet clean if that makes any sense. A headphone amp is recommended seeing that these headphones have an impedance of 470ohms, so unless you have a phone with a Hi-Fi quad DAC like the LgV30 or Razer phone then don’t expect to get much sound out of mobile device like the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy/Note series.

If you’re coming from consumer grade headphones like Beats, skull candy,or earpods these will be of a shock to you on how different the sound is compered to the above mentioned, its a good shock but still a shock. Also seeing that these are open back headphones I would not recommend these for office,Library, or commute use…Unless you want to hear everything around you and want everyone to hear what you’re listening to. These headphones comes with a proprietary 10ft studio cable, If you need a shorter cable i highly recommend getting the NEOMUSICIA replacement cable on amazon. I will end this review with this…If you really love to listen to music and really want to hear the details of the track you’re listening to then get yourself these amazing lightweight headphones.

This was one of my first splurges on nice nice audio quality headphones. Unlike most people, I do not like sound cancelling headphones as it is disorienting to me for some reason if I can’t hear my in-person surroundings. When I use earphones, I usually just put one in at a time which I know is definitely not what most do or prefer when it comes to audio/sound and hearing/earphone experience, so naturally I was super excited when I found out that audio technica (one of the two brands I was debating between, the other being Sennheiser) sold an open back headphone and at Best Buy no less. Basically, it was costly, but it’s so obvious why this is one of the best brands you can get when it comes to audio equipment, and the price point makes sense when you consider just how nice the quality of these headphones are, the quality of the audio cable and jack that is included, the frame of the headset, as well as the ear pads. And the SOUND! It’s amazing. Sounds wonderful. I can still hear my surroundings with these on, and the sound quality has made it difficult for me to use anything else for my audio listening needs. I’m really happy with my purchase. I am hoping to find a wireless mimic of these headphones someday but for now the audio cable included is incredibly long and does the job for the majority of my room (talking about being able to move around while wearing these and listening through them). Worth the buy and then some!

  3. Elijah

The R70x is a very light weight headset, with very clear treb. And a more mid to low tone focus. While I do enjoy these headphones I feel there is a huge lack in quality when it comes to this price point. While the frame is what seems to be aluminum, the rest is very plastic-y, and did I say light weight? The ear muffs are sub par. Even the packaging itself felt super cheap, as if no effort was put into it. While I do enjoy the quality of sound, I feel there are many other alternatives at this price point without many of these issues.

  4. POOH

With a quality headphones amp, these are legit headphones to listen to artists like Dua Lipa.
Not ideal for Rock or Heavy Metal listening.
Smooth clean drivers in these headphones.
“Unplugged” music focusing on studio vocals…these Audio Technica headphones get it done!!

  5. Guslcjr

Th sound quality on this headset is amazing. The bass isn’t overkill and fake, it’s more accurate and has an open sound stage.

  6. fantastic

Technical and pleasing. light as a feather. not for bass heads.

  7. Vadillo

Amazing flat sound, resolution, and comfort. The cable is too long; they can be replaced with shorter ones. Also, the ear pads are small if you have big ears.

  8. dissappointed

Great audio components in a garbage, ultra cheap, plastic shroud that will break. The hinges, where the speakers swivel, the most delicate part of the cans, are cheap, garbage plastic. Buyer beware, these should NOT cost this much for such easy to break headphones.

  9. Best

Honestly I’ve only had these headphones for 9 months .. for the price .i think you can find cheaper ones that does the same thing for studio mixing ..also for the price plastic and metal shouldn’t be combined ..my head phones cracked where the plastic actual ear cuff connects to the metal head arch ..as well as the head cushion that keeps your head from touching the metal arch has cracked and came off

I literally can spin my ear cup 360 ,and it is not suppose to
