I was excited to receive this amplifier as I already have a Sonos system that performs extremely well. I am pleased to report that adding this amplifier enhanced sound in an immense way as there is clear sound without any distortion or garbling. I am a lover of jazz and since integrating this with my Sonos, I have been streaming music on a daily basis because of how distinctive and clear sound comes in.
I am truly over the moon to add this amplifier and I hope to get many years of quality music from this master piece!

To start, I would like to say that without good speakers, the Arcam HDA SA-10 170W will not do much for you. As you will see, I am extremely happy with this amp but this is a system for those who really enjoy music the way they were originally recorded. To take advantage of that, the use of excellent speakers and proper accessories are a must.
Finding what not to like with this system is hard. I have tried and so far the only complaints I have are mostly related to features I would like it to have such as the more power you get with the SA-20. And of course, I would like it to support more speakers but what it does with two is impressive. It has a ton of inputs, which is really nice
Set up was very easy. Just connected to power and then to my Sonos speakers. The 50 Watts per channel is real and you can hear the difference immediately. But power is not as important as non-distorted audio. I could hear details from my audio CDs that I had never heard before. My other huge recommendation besides good quality speakers is lossless and uncompressed audio format. If your music is coming from a streaming source, please use services that support HD audio. You will notice the difference. For maximum enjoyment, BD or audio CDs will do it.
Many people don’t realize that the reason why they get tired of listening to music is mostly because of distortions. That is why the source is important as well as the quality and power of the Amp. If you got tired of a music you like, set up your Arcam HDA, make sure you are listening from a CD/DVD or from a good streaming service and enjoy it. It is like listening to it for the first time again or at least as if you were right there when they were recording it.
I did connect my AV system to it so that it could amplify the front speakers and did I enjoy it! It made a huge difference to my home theater. It gave more depth and clarity to the audio. And the look of this thing is great. It is small with great power.
I am aware that I sound like a marketing person but I do enjoy quality audio to an extreme and this amp has really put a smile on my face. My girlfriend who also loves good quality audio was as impressed. I am not going to write about the best way to set up your speakers physically in your space or all the details about good amplifiers because this would become the biggest review you had ever read but you can’t go wrong with this amp.
If you have the extra cash, go with the SA-20 but otherwise, you will still be very happy with the SA-10. I am.

This took me a bit to setup but it was so worth my time!
The audio the Arcam delivers is crisp like no other. There are a few tests I run my audio stuff through and that is Elvis and the Philharmonic Orchestra album which sounds like I am sitting in the recording arena with them. Then there is my dance and rock stuff which helps me run through how bass and guitar strums sound.
My next investment is a stand-alone speaker so that I can add it to the other input/output slot.
It sits beautifully on my shelf and it is very slim.
I do wish it was more versatile with an application for the Arcam. There is an application but the amp isn’t supported.
Otherwise and amazing product and a beautiful conversation peace with Super Bowl Sunday and the Half Time Show coming up!

Please be aware that humans have different senses of hearing range and some likes and dislikes of audio are very subjective. Different strokes for different folks. The following observations are mine and may not be what everybody agrees with. I have had a full stereo set with powerful amps and large speakers for 30 years or more. I am comparing this product with others past and present and the way it worked with other stereo components.
Pros: Small size. Backlit remote. Beautiful clarity and definition. Incredibly low harmonic distortion. Rich audio texture. Front 3.5mm Aux audio input.
Cons: No wifi .No Bluetooth. Internet for control only and app doesn’t work anyway. No 2nd speaker set connection. NO FM or internet radio. NO bass or treble or midrange tweaks. Half of remote devoted to a CD player!!!! VERY LITTLE BASS .
I chose my Sony CD player to hear first. I was surprised to find the audio sharp and a bit harsh, with an anemic low end. I immediately reconnected my 12-band equalizer to pass the CD audio through before connection to the SA-10. Now I had more low-end and trimmed the super-bright high-end to get a better balance of spectrum. It sounded great after I re-shaped the sound.
I chose the Doors “Morrison Hotel/Hard Rock Cafe” album to test the phono input. I have to admit I heard space and texture in the album unlike what I have ever heard before, but couldn’t help but want an equalizer to bring the crisp, sharp highs and mid-range down a tad and boost the bass. The in-the-cellar bass of “Roadhouse Blues” was starving. I had similar results with cassettes. Plenty of definition and clarity, just needing some control to shape the sound (again, it seemed like it needed way more bass.)
I connected an optical cable and stereo RCA cable to the SA-10 from my Dish Joey and tried both inputs. I couldn’t hear much improvement in the sound from digital to analogue (yeah the display spells it the English way.) It was nice and clear and gave a wide airy presentation of the audio for my TV. Again, lacking in low end. You just don’t get a lot of bass.
It was a shock to discover that the Ethernet “input” is not actually an input but simply a way to address the SA10 through another device on your network and control it remotely. Well, unless you are controlling it from another part of your house, most of us find that the remote control works just fine to remotely control the receiver. If you look at the recommended info, the “commands” to control the amplifier are not simple choices through an app on a phone or a PC–they are commands like you had to type into a DOS window at the dawn of the home computer.
Folks–it’s *not* so simple a cave man could do it, though I am wondering if there were cave men on the engineering staff of this machine. The cell phone app for Android couldn’t find the Arcam, even though it was visible on my LAN in the app for the router on the same phone. I put in a request for tech support through the app. I haven’t had a reply of any kind.
A similar shock to the purpose of the rear USB port. It’s not for attaching a network drive. It’s not for attaching anything at the moment. Except a thumb drive for future updates to software. We saw these on the back of dish boxes for years and wondered when something would come down the road to make them useful. Ditto for the SA10.
I will tell you that connecting a good set of headphones (notice I said *connecting*, as with a cable) will bring you into a world of audio wonder. I get more bass this way, though it could be my great phones. In any case, the sound with any of the inputs was awesome when listened to with headphones. You *could* hook up an external Bluetooth transmitter to the headphone jack, pair it to a set of wireless headphones and free yourself of the cord. But then you’d have an AC adapter for the Bluetooth to deal with. And no–there is no extra electrical outlet on the back of the SA10. So many things that were common on amps and receivers over the last 30 years have been scuttled for this amp.
I would also recommend you use something like a later version of the Echo Dot or something similar to feed bluetooth audio to the SA10 since it is not available on the amp. My streaming internet music sounded really good and somehow had deeper bass than the other inputs when played.
The remote is nice, has backlighting with the keys for easy use in the dark. The whole upper half of the remote is devoted to your CD player should you pair it with your player, but like the network remote control it seems unnecessary since my CD remote has more functions and works just fine.
If money is no object and you’re a headphone junkie, or you have a speaker set that has it’s own bass and treble boost or controls, this amp would be great for you. Anyone else that wanted to access music on a network drive or the internet or Bluetooth, keep looking I guess.

Great amplifier, Its heavy, but that speaks to the quality of the build. I currently have it with a couple of infininty speakers. It has digital and analog inputs, due that, you can plug in any stereo devices via analog, or you can use the digital inputs (I highly recommend that for better quality audio, you have either coaxial or spdif) and plug in devices like a bluray player, a PC etc. I currently have my bluray player plugged in. The sound is outstanding and the info display is clear and you can easily set it up from there. There was a firmware update on their website, so I updated it using a USB dongle, highly recommend to keep that up to date too. It also has a pre-out, in case you want to run a second amplifier too. I didn’t need too, as I’m driving just a pair of bookshelf speakers, and its plenty of sound/loudness for me. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to build a nice sound setup at home (I may invest in a LP player later and plug it in this amplifier, I want to jump into the retro vandwagon).

This is my first “audiophile” receiver and have grown to appreciate the low distortion produced by this amplifier. Clear audio and after doing a before/after comparison with a few songs, there was a substantial difference in the quality of the audio coming from my old receiver and the ARCAM amplifier using an Onkyo C-7030 via optical and by digital coax.
If you’re looking for something that inflates bass, this is not the receiver you are looking for. There are no bass or treble controls… which is perfect for me since I typically listen with flat settings. Also, because this is an amplifier and not a surround receiver, it doesn’t have a separate out for a subwoofer. Initially I wasn’t sure about this, but when I connected the subwoofer as a pass-thru (don’t know what the technical term is), it was interesting as to how well I could dial in the balance between sub and my tower speakers. I get clean bass without blowing the room out (I know, sometimes that’s the goal but you’d have to set the crossover for all bass).
If you’re looking for a lower end audiophile amplifier to enhance your listening experience where “soundstage” and source isolation using 2 speakers and a sub is your thing, this was perfect for me and highly recommend. If you’re looking for THX-blow-the-roof-off-the-room-with-bass-to-the-max… look somewhere else because you’ll definitely not be happy with this unit.

great amp. womdeful sound
limited on features. no sub out

These are underpowered that the specs say. Distortion is low and sound is great though
KenF –
One reviewer said underpowered. No way! He/she may be used to innacurate and artificIally boosted sound and hasn’t expwrienced the clean power this unit affords.
ClaudeE –
I had to return since this amplifier did not meet my needs

Beautiful and warm sound. Used with a music streamer and CD transport. There is something about this Arcam SA10 that is so warm and detailed. The vocals and instrumentation felt like they were projecting into the room. Plenty of power! It drives Quad Z4 speakers with ease. Overall, a good Audiophile integrated amplifier.

Great sounding amp! It sounds good with many inputs.

Makes a fantastically nice sound when you turn it on

sounds amazing but thats about it, no bluetooth/wifi streaming.
Raymond –
Great sound! Plenty of power to power my vintage speakers.

Great sound and quality built.

Great integrated 2 channel amp! I wasn’t in the market for more speaker outputs.

The Arcam SA-10 sounds great and has enough power for most home speakers. The amplifier is well built and is a bit heavy for it size. It does not have any tone controls, no bluetooth nor any direct internet connection for future updates. You have to upload the updates via the usb by using a drive. The volume doesn’t reset to mute or zero if you forget to turn it down before powering off the amplifier. The home theater bypass and the illuminated remote are a good excuse to get this amplifier.
