Garbage. Worked for 5 minutes and now nothing. I’ve reset them and still nothing. All I hear with pass through is white noise. When putting in the left ear, there was a very high pitch sound. Talk about damaging ears. These will be returned.

I bought these after owning the 1st Gen Echo buds, and these are a huge improvement! Better sound, an upgrade to full ANC (instead of just “noise reduction”). The earbuds seem smaller and the case is WAY smaller. Priced way below earbuds with comparable specs.

Excellent sound, easy to set up. Doesn’t hurt your ears,

I returned them as i went with the Apple Airpods. I cannot say i tried to use them, but they looked too large for my ears.
Matt –
These are straight trash.
They just disconnect over and over and over again. I have to wrestle with them for 45 minutes before I work out just to get them to stay functioning and connected.

To start with, prior to using the Echo Buds I had never used Alexa, for anything. To use these buds, I needed to install Alexa on my Galaxy Fold 3 – which only took a minute from the Google Play Store. The instructions included with these buds tell you to open the buds charging case and wait until you see a blue light – which puts the buds into pairing mode. Once done, the instructions tell you to go to the Alexa app to finish the installation.
Over the years, I have probably used 20 to 30 different earbuds from a variety of vendors. Most have included instructions and are usable immediately without much of a learning curve. And most have an accompanying music app specifically for their buds.
The Alexa app is different in that it is a comprehensive tool used for likely hundreds of different functions, not just the Echo Buds. As such, I wasn’t entirely sure what my next step of the installation process should be. Sure, I figured it out, but I didn’t think it was intuitive enough for a first-time user.
These buds follow some common conventions regarding the touch controls, like Pause, and the Skip Forward and Backward functions. The default touch control settings for both left and right earbuds are as follows:
Single Tap – Pause or play
Double Tap – Skip forward a song (or answer/hangup call)
Triple Tap – Go backward one song
Press and hold – Turn ANC On or Off
You can individually customize the left and right buds by assigning actions under Touch Controls in the Alexa app:
Play/Pause
Next Track
Siri or Google Assistant
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
Passthrough
Answer/End Call
With the 2nd Gen version of the Echo Buds, you can further customize them for the following:
Access Google Assistant and Siri
Volume up/volume down.
Mute microphones.
The buds themselves surprised me. I prefer eat-tips with built-in ear-wings to keep the earbuds securely in place. While there are additional ear-tips included in this package that have ear-wings, those installed on the buds when initially received do not. I found them very comfortable, and they stayed firmly in place. Nice!
The sound quality of these buds was about average for this price range. The equalizer settings I found in Alexa helped to improve the sound quality somewhat.
A nice feature that Alexa has is the ability to quiet the music when you ask Alexa to perform some action. For example, I was listening to music when I asked Alexa “what day is today”. The music went to the background, helping me to hear Alexa clearly. I also had Alexa raise and lower the volume by voice command, which was nice. Still, I didn’t like having to ask Alexa to change the volume or having to go to my phone for that purpose. It was only afterwards that I learned I could customize the earbud touch controls to add Volume Down to my left earbud and Volume Up on my right.
As noted above, Alexa is a powerful tool that covers a wide range of functions well beyond just these earbuds. Do note that Alexa, by default, is always in a listening mode when you use these buds, although there is a setting that lets you turn that feature off.
One big reason I was interested in these buds was the ANC. I regularly use my buds in noisy locations. ANC, for me, is a necessity. I tested out ANC by toggling between Passthrough and ANC modes while moving between noisy places and very noisy places. Unfortunately, I found very little difference between the two. For example, I chatted with my wife while using the buds. I turned ANC on and off, and I couldn’t hear any difference. I turned the TV up loud and still couldn’t hear any difference. I stood next to a noisy floor cleaning robot and, yep, no difference.
In Alexa, there is a Passthrough slide-bar that lets you determine how much ambient noise you want passed through. With that at its highest setting, the difference between Passthrough and ANC was barely noticeable, and at its highest Passthrough level there was a noticeable background hissing sound. I should disclose that I have some buds with exceptionally good ANC, so it is easy for me to distinguish between good ANC and not so good ANC. And it seems that other buds I’ve tried in this same price range do a better job.
For me, sound quality and ANC are the two most important basic functions of any earbuds. The sound quality of the 2nd Gen Echo Buds is more than adequate but nothing special, while its ANC implementation is underwhelming.
I would rate the Echo Buds, 4 stars; ANC, 2 stars; Alexa, 5 stars. Since Alexa isn’t specific to just these buds, I am giving them a 3-star rating.

I own the Gen 1 Echo Buds and they fared well. Are the 2nd Gen Echo Buds an improvement? Short answer: Definitely. But are they worth the asking price?
The physical design is not extraordinary. The case is smaller than the original which makes it much more portable, and I appreciate the matte black finish which repels smudges, fingerprints, and has some scratch resistance. There is a battery/charging LED indicator on the front and inside. Thankfully, Amazon implemented USB-C charging this time. The buds are magnetically kept securely inside, but I do wish the top would not be as wobbly.
The buds are also noticeably smaller than the last gen. The bud’s touchpads have a matte finish that feels good to the touch. The bottom is glossy, which unfortunately attracts a lot of smudging and skin grease. I don’t mind the Amazon smile logo, as it is rather subtle.
When it comes to comfort, they are OK. They fit much better than the last version, but I found them still a bit uncomfortable after 4 plus hours of continuous use, which I hardly ever do. It takes a bit of fidgeting for me to get the proper placement and seal, but once they’re set, there’s no need to mess around. Amazon included several tips and ear wings to enhance fit and security, but after trying them I found them unnecessary, since I was able to run, jump, and even cartwheel without them.
Being Bluetooth 5.0, they were easy to pair. I would highly recommend downloading the Amazon Alexa app as it makes pairing easier and kind of cool. I was able to maintain a decent connection when walking around my medium-sized apartment, even through a corner or two. I did not notice any sync issues when watching videos, but I did notice a slight lag when playing certain games albeit you really must pay close attention. Sadly, there is no multi-point connection, auto-device switching, which would be nice since several of my devices have Alexa activated. By the way, you can listen to a single earbud if you like that option.
I was a little disappointed by the battery life. I clocked them at a little over 4 hours at 70% volume, ANC on, and constantly asking Alexa stuff. I do appreciate the quick charge feature where 15 minutes in the case adds 2 hours of playback. The version I have does not support wireless charging, but Amazon does offer a slightly more expensive one that does.
This time, the Echo Buds feature full active noise cancellation, instead of noise reduction. Testing the ANC in several environments, I found it to be acceptable. They do block low, rumbling noises, and some degree of traffic. However, there’s a lot of higher-pitched noises that get through -especially individual voices and things like keyboard typing. Getting a good seal helps a bit. The Passthrough Mode works fine and is convenient, although I thought the sound coming through was a bit harsh, so I am glad that this can be reduced in the app.
The call quality is decent. While I was told that I sounded a bit tunnel-like, I was heard loud and clear, which is really what you’d expect. Even in loud or windy conditions, making calls was not an issue.
One nitpick I have is that controls feel limited. While you can customize them, one must choose what to assign, and use the device or voice assistant for the rest.
Out of the box, the Echo Buds 2 have more of a flat, sort of reference sound signature. The bass is there, and it is tight and punchy. However, it lacks a little “oomph” for those that might like that subwoofer effect. The midrange comes through nice and clear, and the treble is slightly enhanced without being harsh. Listening to several genres of content, I found the sound enjoyable -especially classical and live music, since channel separation and soundstage were very well done. Selecting the right ear tips ensures a better listening experience. In case you want a different sound, you can go into the app and adjust bass, midrange, and treble to suit your preferences.
Speaking of the app, which is indispensable if you are deep into the Amazon Echo ecosystem, helps in making these buds more versatile. From there, you can add the buds to your account, customize controls, change EQ settings, ensure a proper seal, turn off mics for privacy, and other functions.
So, if you are invested in Amazon Echo and use Alexa a whole lot or liked the original and they’re showing their age, these may be a no-brainer. I might even recommend checking the wireless charging version. For the price, although a bit average, The Echo Buds 2 are an excellent value.
NAMO –
INITIAL SET-UP
Set-up of the Echo Buds is accomplished with your Amazon Alexa app available via the Apple Store or the Google Play Store. Folks that already have another Alexa device in their household will have no trouble setting up the Echo Buds with their Amazon account. Set-up is very similar to other Amazon devices, and I had no issues linking and setting up the Buds with either my iPad or my Android smartphone. The included directions are simple and covered all aspects of initial configuration.
USE
The Echo Buds have performed flawlessly since initial set-up. These Echo Buds had one thing going for them, that I haven’t experienced in some time. That is a product without the immediate need for a firmware update prior to use. Wow, that alone is particularly impressive. Amazon claims battery life of up to 5 hours of music listening and 4 hours of phone calls. But, those times vary depending upon volume levels, active noise cancellation, etc.
The Echo Buds include 3 different sized tips (Small, Medium, and Large) to help fit nearly anyone’s ear. A unique feature to the Buds’ app is a custom test to ensure you have selected the correct tip size for your ear, thereby ensuring you get the best possible sound and noise cancellation properties from the device. The sound test works extremely well. In addition to the ear tips, Amazon includes a product in the box they refer to as: Wing Tips. The wing tips are a silicone sleeve just like the ear tips, but go around the actual Echo Bud itself making for a “grippier” surface in your ear. This helps to prevent the Bud from falling out during exercise or if sweaty. Though, it feels quite odd at first, the Wing Tips really do work well and make the Buds much more secure during workouts. Well done!
The main attraction to the Echo Buds, as opposed to other products on the market, is the inclusion of the Amazon Alexa assistant that is built into their functionality. Microphones built into the Buds not only work for answering phone calls, but with the Alexa app running on your phone, allow you to speak to your digital assistant anytime you say her name. I find this much handier than my other home-based Echo products. It’s much more intuitive to add stuff to your shopping list, ask Alexa to play music, make a call, etc. If Alexa is not your choice of virtual assistants, Amazon wisely allows your Buds to be able to access either Siri or the Google Assistant, should you so choose.
Audio quality is very good with these new 2nd generation Echo Buds. While I don’t find the audio quality as good as I do with my Jabra ear buds, the Echo Buds still have very good audio quality. Whether I’ve used them for music, movies, or phone calls, I have not found a situation where the Buds don’t produce clear and intelligible audio. The Echo Buds are manufactured with 3 microphones built into each ear bud and they do a great job of picking up audio for calls, but also at detecting the Alexa wake word. In quiet environments, you don’t have to speak much above a whisper to active Alexa.
I must also give a shout out to Amazon’s implementation of their Active Noise Cancellation. The ANC works extremely well, better than most ear buds, some at even much higher price tags. The Echo Buds can nearly eliminate the noise from the fan on my nightstand in a completely quiet bedroom. This is something that most all my other ear buds or actual headphones struggle with. The Echo Buds handle the cancellation superbly.
NEGATIVES
I haven’t found a lot to dislike about the Echo Buds, but there are some areas where I think they could be improved upon, some I’m sure would be as easy as a firmware update.
First – Noise Floor. While the Echo Buds do a very good job at audio reproduction, there is quite a bit of noise during quiet passages in movies and music. While not a deal breaker by any means, I do notice that ever so slight hint of hiss in quiet environments. Something not present in my Jabra’s. To be fair to Amazon, this is nearly inaudible in most environments, but when it is quiet time, you can hear it. However, I think it could be remedied with a simple firmware update.
Second – Bass Response. While not totally lacking in this department, it isn’t the most bass heavy of ear buds. You do get some bass response from the 5.7mm drivers, but it won’t leave your jaw dropping. Again, this isn’t a deal breaker and should I not have ear buds from different manufacturers, I would probably not have given it a second thought. However, similar products from other manufacturers do give a fuller, more dynamic response.
Lastly – Privacy. If you are concerned about your privacy and what Amazon hears and retains, this may not the product for you. Amazon states they do not sell your private information and supposedly does not record any information until you say the magic Alexa word. Amazon allows you to mute the microphones in the Alexa app should you want total privacy and the app also allows you to view, hear, and delete any recordings.
CONCLUSIONS
At the end of the day, these are a very good set of ear buds at an attractive price. The audio quality is very good whether it be for music, movies, or phone calls. The Echo Buds are light weight, and the inclusion of different sized tips ensure they are comfortable and appealing to a wide range of people. In addition to the audio quality, the addition of the Amazon digital assistant is just an added win for the users already invested in the Amazon ecosystem.
As much as I like the audio quality and performance of the Echo Buds, there are rivals out there that have better audio and call quality. While some are much more expensive, some are similarly priced. Like I mentioned earlier, should you not have the option to hear them back-to-back with a competitors’ product, the difference is minimal enough that you would be hard pressed to notice.
I give the Echo Buds a solid 4 stars. Anyone that is looking for a good set of ear buds at a reasonable price and already invested in the Amazon ecosystem, these would be a no-brainer. Though other products do a better job at being a true ear bud, none I’ve found offer the convenience of the Echo Buds with Alexa built-in. Recommended.

I actually really like these earbuds after I put in the work to get them working great for me. I actually had to change the ear tips to get a better fit. Fortunately it does come with four different sizes of tips and the built in software has the function to test the fit. That helped with the sound quality. I also had to adjust the EQ in the software but then the sound is pretty good close to incredible. The foot print is pretty small and that is a nice feature if you don’t want something to be too showy. I would say that Alexa is more of a feature if you are already using Alexa with other devices or have your digital library coordinated through Amazon. I was shocked the price seemed a little high for the actual product you are getting and the fact the batteries only last so long. There are similar products that have longer battery life and that are a little easier to fit. If you are an Amazon fan and you want these types of earbuds then go for it but these days there is are other options that also support Alexa. I think if you can get these on sale then go for it.

The Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) True Wireless In-Ear Headphones are reasonably comfortable and pair easily with my iPhone.
Pros: compact, true wireless, charge with supplied USB-A to USB-C cable, hard case with magnetic lid. Works with Alexa and Amazon Music, so you have the flexibility of hands-free voice connection to your phone, plus music streaming from the Cloud. Easy to charge. Supplied with four different size ear bud covers and two sizes of wing tips for a custom fit. Tap on either ear bud to answer your phone, go forward one track, go back one track, etc. You can set the ear buds for noise pass-through, when you are talking on the phone, or without pass-through when you want to listen to music. Use the up and down buttons on your phone to control the volume, or use the volume control in your music app.
Cons: Must use Amazon Alexa app to connect ear buds, though you can see the ear buds are connected in your phone’s Bluetooth settings. The ear bud fit test failed twice while I tried out the different ear bud covers. When the test was a success, I saw only one bar (“Fair” test result). However, the sound is good, especially at moderate volume.
A nice set of true wireless earbuds at a good price.

Amazon continues to amaze…. I was apprehensive about these ear buds initially, but after connecting them and going thru the setup I was simply amazed.
First off, connecting was simple and straight forward. I didn’t have any loss of signal or connection issues as of yet. I have worn them for hours straight without issue. I was even able to walk away from my phone and walk outside for a brief moment at least 30 – 40 feet away and was able to keep a strong signal.
Provided are several different size ear tips to get the most comfortable and secure fit. There are also wing tips to enhance the secure fit and sound cancelling. The buds are not an overbearing size and are pretty discreet when worn (for ear buds). They are very comfortable and I was able to wear them for a couple hours without getting ear fatigue.
Now the Alexa app is kind of gimmicky for me with the equalizer and all that even though it does change the sound slightly. But having Alexa in my ear was kind of nice as long as no one close to me would say “Alexa”. These ear buds pick up on the wake word very easily. I was able to ask Alexa many things and I would get an immediate and accurate response. You are able to turn off the mic in the app so Alexa will not become annoying.
The sound is great… Keep in mind these are ear buds and not your audiophile type buds. The noise cancelling is very impressive. The pass through is even more impressive to me. I was able to wear both ear buds while listening to a streaming video and still have a conversation with a nearby friend without looking crazy and asking “what did you say?”. With the ANC active, all ambient sounds are blocked from your hearing very well and you get the full sound from the ear buds as long as you get the right fit from the ear tips.
Battery life was a little worry for me. With the ANC active, battery life was drained very quickly. From a full charge I lost 10% within just 10 minutes or less. But there is a power save option which helps with that a lot. And to be honest, I think I actually like the power save function on all the time anyways because the sound is better to me. It is more like a voice enhancement feature and blocks ambient noise while allowing you to hear voice better and the sound produced from music or phone calls.
The case is nice. Typical battery charge case that provides hours more of enjoyment from the buds. It is not too big or too small. The buds fit perfectly with the magnetic secure feature. The top secures very well and provides the proper protection for the ear buds.
Lastly, there is a “Find me” feature if you should lose an ear bud in the app. It does not show the exact location on the map and does not have very long range at all. But if you are within bluetooth range of the ear buds it produce a chime for you to search the area and try and find the lost ear bud.
For the price and power packed features of these Amazon ear buds, it is well worth it. I have yet to have any issues and they have become some of my favorite buds to wear when working or watching the kids due to the ability to listen to my streams discreetly and still be alert to my surroundings. Best feature by far next to Alexa in your ear.

The Amazon Echo Buds 2nd generation are really good if you need a pair of light weight wireless noise canceling ear buds but they are really great for the price as well as the bonus of Alexa built-in. If you already use Alexa then these are a no-brainer. They are more comfortable in my ears and in my wife’s ears than other more expensive ear buds when wearing them for a longer time. The sound quality is probably not as good as the top competitors but the bass is pronounced and the sound is still good. The tap-ability of these ear buds are good when changing songs or changing from noise cancelling to passthrough mode. If you don’t like tapping then you can always ask Alexa to stop, play, skip the song or go back or change from noise cancelling to passthrough modes and back. You can also ask Alexa to add items to your shopping list, turn the lights on and unlock the door when you are getting close to the house at night or early in the morning when exercising or you can use any other commands you have setup with the Alexa app. The app also shows you the battery and noise cancelling status. The charging case is a good small size that fits in your pocket easily and it keeps the buds charged for a long time. The USB-C port and cable are a nice upgrade which will go into the port either way and gone is the micro-USB port that sometimes is frustrating to connect. I am impressed with the connect-ability with my iPhone and Apple TV. I have connected it to multiple iPhones and Apple TV and there is no problem switching from one to the other. Nice!

The Amazon Echo Buds gen 2 headphones are a decent entry into an already saturated wireless earbud market.
These look like your average in-ear buds. Black, nondescript, except for a very light Amazon “A to Z” logo on the earbud that you have to really look to see.
For me, the fit is just OK. There are a number of fit options, including four different sizes of ear canal tips, as well as what they call “wingtips” which fit over the earbud and attempt to keep the earbud from falling out. I tried three different sizes of the tips and used the ear tip fitment test in the Alexa app to get the top fitment rating of excellent, I was able to get excellent on one ear and good on the other – but overall they seemed pretty stable in my ear and I have not had one come out unexpectedly. I did have to sometimes push them in after a while to get the best sound quality.
The sound quality is good – good enough for casual listening. In this price range and with bluetooth audio in general, you aren’t buying for audiophile quality. When the eartips are sealed in your ear canal, they deliver the best sound, and as I would walk, talk, chew, etc.. the earbud would slightly move around and not seal in the ear canal as well and I would notice a loss of fidelity, typically in the bass region.
Noise cancelling on these is good, but if you’re not used to noise cancelling or the noise cancelling level that these headphones use, you may find it a bit uncomfortable at first. When I first put on the headphones and activated noise cancelling, I was met with an uncomfortable pressure-like sensation. It largely went away after turning up the music, but it is still something that takes getting used to. My primary set of buds also has noise cancelling, but apparently the amount, style, or configuration of this noise cancelling is different and gave me that pressure like feeling. Usually after a bit it will go away – so don’t give up immediately! I did try these on my recent flight and they did a good job at blocking out most airplane noise in the cabin. Another thing to note, noise cancelling will eat through the battery faster than without it on – so that does subtract from the listening time.
We are an Alexa household, which is what made these buds attractive. The headphones are really responsive to the “Alexa” wake word, and what is cool is that if I am in an area of our home with Alexa coverage (which is basically everywhere), I will hear the headphones make the response tone, as well as the Echo device that covers that area, but the Alexa platform is smart enough to take commands from the headphones and ignore the command that came through the Echo device. With that being said, it takes a bit of getting used to – if I’m in my office with the buds on and say “Turn on the lights” – nothing happens. Without the buds, the office Echo show is associated with that room and turns on the office lights – so the buds are not room/group aware and you will need to get specific with your Alexa voice commands to control your smart home.
These do require the Alexa app to set up, and as such the Alexa app wants a ton of privileges on your device like access to your location, use the mic, etc.. For someone who just wants a set of decent buds, I can see where this would raise a brow – “Why do I need to give location and mic privileges to an app just to use these headphones?” but such is life in the smart connected device world. If this is a show stopper issue for you, you may want to look at buds without a voice assistant built in. Setup was fairly straightforward – open the Alexa app, add a device, open your buds, and in a few seconds they show up on screen and you click the name to pair. You are then walked through some basic instructions and the ear tip fitment test. Overall, the setup experience is good and easy enough for even the most tech un-savvy to follow along with.
One downside I found of the reliance on the Echo app is that some features like getting battery status and changing noise cancelling modes on the earbuds via the phone is done via the Alexa app. Unfortunately, when I was on the plane and did not buy the in-flight wi-fi I was not able to interact with the earbuds via the app because the app refused to function without connection to the Alexa services via the Internet. You can still activate and de-activate noise cancelling via pressing the side of the earbuds, but this is kind of a miss. An update to the app to allow interaction with the buds when not connected would be a welcome addition.
Charging the buds is done by placing them back in their case. The case is nice and small, so it fits well in your pocket. It does charge via USB-C, so if you haven’t made the switch to USB-C, this will be another cable you’re carrying around. There’s also a wireless charging case version available for a slightly higher price, so if you’re a Qi charging person, that may be for you as well.
Overall, these buds get the job done. If you’re not in the Alexa ecosystem already, I’d probably look at other options – but if you are an Alexa user – this is a great way to take Alexa on the go as well as get good sound from noise cancelling buds.
Ace254687 –
The Amazon Echo Buds are decent sounding wireless earphones, with some nice features. The box includes everything you need to get up and running, except for a wall plug. But let’s face it, very few devices now days come with a cable and wall plug. The box comes with plenty of different sizes of ear tips, 4 to be exact and it also includes 3 different sized wing covers. The wing covers provide extra comfort, as well as providing a more secure fit. Lastly, there is a USB-C to USB charging cable.
The Buds are light weight, so this makes them comfortable to wear, especially for longer periods of listening time. They also fit nicely inside my ear, and with plenty of sizing options, I was able to find the right size. The Charging case is average size for wireless earbuds, and it’s easy to see where the buds fit in. There is also 1 small LED light by each bud to know if you have them seated in the case correctly. The buds are touch sensitive on the ends of each tip, which you can customize what each ear does in the Amazon app. I did have several occasions where my touch wouldn’t register on the buds, or if it did there was a long delay.
The amazon app is where you can get full control and use out of the Echo Buds. From the app you can, register them to your account, use the voice assist Alexa, customize the touch controls, and even customize the equalizer. The buds have 2 listening modes: Active noise cancelling and Passive. The active noise canceling is nice for mid tear pods, it does a good job at blocking out ambient noise making it easier to hear music or calls with any distractions. The passive or pass-through function is okay, it could be tuned a little better as I don’t really hear much of the environment that well.
The most important part is the sound, which is on point with the Echo buds. I really am impressed with the sound quality. I’m not saying that they’re the best buds I’ve heard, but I will say that they do offer a good range of highs and lows. The buds pack some powerful base especially for their size, and good lows. Voices are heard clear, and it’s easy to understand.
Overall, I think these are a decent pair of active noise cancelling earbuds. The one small complaint I do have is the touch controls do work that well, and when they do work, there is a long delay before anything happens. The pass through could also use some tweaks as well. They do sound good though and offer Alexa support. They can also run for about 5hrs (give or take on the settings you use). I would recommend these to anyone looking for a decent pair of ear buds.

These are my first pair of “true wireless” earbuds, and really haven’t kept up with what features are standard on most earbuds, but I’m really not disappointed with these.
The case feels really nice in the hand, has USB-C for charging in the back, plus a button to enable pairing mode. It snaps closed magnetically in a satisfying way, and stays closed. Only minor annoyance here, is it’s more than happy to close, even if you intended to keep it open, for pairing purposes, which is a bit annoying. Otherwise, has a small status light on the front, then two status lights inside for each earbud to show charge status,
Earbuds are magnetically held in place, and are easy to take out. They come with medium ear tips installed, but also included in the box are Small, Large and X-Large. Part of the setup process walks you through helping to choose the right ear tip size, by playing a tone in each ear. I’m guessing it’s using the mics on the earbuds to detect sound leaking out. A good fit/seal will mean better noise cancelling I presume. I kept medium. These earbuds probably won’t win any awards for comfort, but I’d likely say they’re at least average. Personally, if I’m looking for comfort in headphones, earbuds aren’t what I go with. But these are good enough for being earbuds.
The earbuds also come with optional silicon “wings” that fit over the earbuds, and when put on, you are supposed to tuck the “wing” under a ridge in your ear to help hold it in place. I tried it, and didn’t find it terribly comfortable, so took them off. So far haven’t needed them anyway. But, if you have issues with earbuds falling out, maybe this will help.
One thing annoying with fitting the earbuds in your ear, is they have touch controls, which are rather sensitive. It doesn’t do anything during setup, since you’re not playing any music yet, but it still plays a tone everytime you trigger the touch actions. Once I got them setup, the touch controls were just “ok”. I don’t think I like the sensation of literally drumming on my eardrum to play/pause or skip tracks. Also, while the earbuds are sensitive to touch, they are slow to react. Meaning, touch then wait a half second for the tone signaling it recognized the touch, then another half second after that for it to take action. Hopefully this is fixed in a future firmware update.
Similarly, triggering “Alexa” works just as well as triggering it at home, but again still slow to react. I say “Alexa” and it takes a half second for me to hear the tone that it’s now listening.
The noise cancelling works well, better than I expected from earbuds. I suspect any sounds you hear from the outside are sounds that just leak in from around the earbuds and your head, and not because of any lack of effort from the earbuds. If you’re looking for ANC, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed on this front.
Sound quality I also found to be better than expected. They’re not booming, but they’re also not too sharp and bright. Though sometimes the sound sounded a bit anemic, other times it sounds nice, full and satisfying. I tweaked the bass and mid sliders in the Alexa app to try and help this out a bit.
The Alexa app shows you the charge levels and lets you change settings, such as what the touch actions do (single, double, or triple tap), and also lets you adjust the treble, mids, and bass. The sliders don’t have a significant effect on the sound, but it’s good enough. The app also lets you configure a “sidetone” (the ability to hear your own voice) while on a call, which is a nice addition, but I rarely talk on the phone so haven’t tried it.
The app also lets you track fitness, which is a thing Amazon is trying to get into. I didn’t get to try it out, but it will let you check your pace and distance, etc… all by voice, which I think is kind of cool. Next time I’m out I’ll certainly be giving it a try.
Overall, I’m very happy with these.

Amazon Echo Buds (Gen 2) has more improved compact design compared to its previous gen and has similar external case design as airpods pro. It has improved active noise cancelling
(ANC) instead of active noise reduction in Gen1, but not that great compared to Sony or airpods pro. This new gen now has USB- C instead of Micro USB for charging(gen1) and has a wireless charging case option for an additional $20. Comes in 2 colors (black and white).
The new size and shape fit well compared to the previous gen that were large. Pairing and setup were easy with Alexa app.
Sound quality is good but not great compared to airpods pro but on par with the competition of earbuds on this price range and perform well. Each bud has 3 microphones and sidetone feature that allows to hear your voice inside the earbuds which greatly eliminate the need of shouting when talking on calls.
Passthrough mode is better and works well and can be toggled between noise canceling and passthrough mode by just taping and holding the either bud by programing on the app. A Single tap on the bud plays or pauses music, double tap tracks forward and triple tap tracks backward on music. All these can be programed in the app.
Volume adjusted can also be programed to raise or lowered with touch controls or by using Alexa wake word. Just say “Alexa lower the volume or raise the volume”.
Battery life is good and has 15 hours with the charging case and 5 hours of music per charge on each earbuds. A 15-min quick charge via the USB-C connection will get 2 hours of battery life.
Pros: Good fit, comfortable, audio quality, solid battery life, good microphone, Alexa assistant.
Cons: ANC not very impressive.
Overall, it’s a budget friendly earbud with good design, audio quality, ANC and built in Alexa assistant with the optional wireless charging case.

Amazon – Echo Buds came pretty close to being perfect. But the Alexa works when it wants to. Alexa rarely recognizes me. But they have great sound and a pretty nice battery life. I like the sound, so not a total deal-breaker. Setup was quick through the Alexa app. I like these with time I might lovethem.

The Echo Buds are fairly impressive so far. Setup was very simple. Add the Alexa app to your smartphone, open the app, open the lid to the ear bud charging case and they will find each other. If they don’t, just click add device in the app and it will find them. Super simple.
These buds are definitely intended to work with Alexa app. You will really enjoy these if you are heavy into Amazon smart products. You can pretty control anything using voice commands once you get the hang of it. The app is where you do all of your configuration. Bud tap options (which is important if you want to use a different voice assistant rather than Alexa), EQ settings, etc.
I like the fit and the fact that they are lower profile than some other products. I really don’t like to draw attention to my buds, and these check that box for me. If you get the right sizing ring on them, they are comfortable and seal well. A good fit is important on these buds because they relay on a physical barrier to keep competing sound out of the ear canal rather than fancy software.
The general sound is on par with other buds in this price range. I own better sounding buds, but they were twice the price. I also have worse sounding buds that were about the same. Overall, I’m pleased with the sound. I definitely had to play with the EQ settings to get what I wanted, but I eventually dialed things in. I found that dropping the top and mid range a bit helped balance things out.
The noise cancellation works pretty well. Most normal ambient sounds are largely filtered out as expected. The pass through mode lets just enough sound through to alert you to your surroundings. it’s not great, and still find it a bit gimmicky on most devices, but it does make some different.
The mic is just OK. I find that mic’s aren’t great in general on truly wireless buds, so this is pretty much par for the course. It gets the job done. You can definitely control the buds and make calls without issue.
I don’t love that the default settings of the tap buttons on the buds don’t include volume controls. I don’t really like having to reach into my pocket to adjust volume on my phone, or talk to my earbuds when I just want to turn things up or down. Maybe that can be changed in the settings…I haven’t really dug into that just yet.
Battery life seems fine to me. They’ve never died on me, and the charging case keeps them topped off when I’m not wearing them. I do like that they charging case is fairly compact and the lid stays closed. I have another much more expensive pair, and the case is too big and the lip flops oven if they get turned upside down. These are well sized and secure.
If you are an Amazon geek you will love these. They are also great for workouts since there are very easy to use audio track controls.
If you don’t love Amazon products and don’t really want to use voice assistants, then you might not be as impressed. You can certainly use them as simple earbuds, but that’s really not what they were designed for.

I just picked up these new 2nd gen Amazon Echo Buds, and I am fairly impressed so far. The earbuds are true wireless and are capable of active noise canceling or passthrough mode. These earbuds claim to be sweat-resistant, and I believe them thus far, as I have had no issues even when running in the rain. I love how these buds connect to Alexa with ease, and you can just say the magic wake word “Alexa” and she is there to assist. Setting up the Echo Buds was a breeze. I already had the Alexa app, but once you open the earbud case, and the app, my phone instantly recognized the new device, and pairing the buds with my phone took seconds. So, the set-up was simple. Fitment is great, as these buds come with a fit kit that includes four different size rubber earpieces and three different size rubber wings. After you get those buds feeling just right, the app has a fitment test to ensure you are getting the most secure fit that will ensure the best sound.
The case is a great size, small enough to put in your pocket, but not too small where it can become lost easily. Speaking of getting lost, the Alexa app lets you find your buds if they were to go missing, with a map and directions on how to get to their location. The sound quality is pretty good, not the best earbuds I have ever used, and definitely not the worst, these are right in the middle. I am glad the app has an equalizer which greatly improved the sound quality. The bud’s connectivity feels very strong, not once did the devices disconnect, or cut in and out, the connection worked flawlessly. I like the size of the buds where they are small and discreet and matte black, and not huge like some other buds out there. Overall, I think these are a decent pair of ANC true wireless earbuds. The sound quality passes for a water-resistant, ANC, and smart earbud that doesn’t break the bank. The fitment of these buds is perfect. The portability and battery life are great. The price point for these buds is on point. I would recommend this pair of earbuds, sure they are good, but I would also look around and see what else is out there.

I am not a fan for using air buds myself. I find that they just don’t fit one of my ears and seem to always want to fall out. I usually prefer either headsets, or if I do get air buds, I like the ones that also go wrap around the air (like hearing aids). But I have to say these are pretty good. I don’t go running, so I am not sure how they handle that. I wear them when I am on my bus going to work, home from work which is about a 45 min ride. and I will wear them at work when I can and on my lunch break.
So far, I have not had any issues with them falling out. I have another pair that is a bit more in price and I am always adjusting those in my ears as they tend to start to fall out. These come with a good selection of sizes to select as well as rubber pieces to help them fit to your needs.
For the price range they feel pretty good. sound is pretty good and the noise cancelling works pretty good. If you have no sound playing, and activate the noise cancelling you can hear everything silent out. I also enjoy the pass thru. You can select different levels that determines how loud the pass thru is. When someone needs to talk, I can easily hear them without having to take the air buds out.
I like how the case is magnetic so when you place the buds back in, they snap into place. it also has a battery so it will charge them up. I do tend to find that the case is a bit awkward for me though. As I use it, I tend to constantly shut it. Like I will go to reach and grab an air bud out and as I am doing so, I close the case.
Overall, they work great. If you get the amazon app and set up, you can use voice commands as well. I personally just like to touch or use my phone or watch to control things.
I do recommend these if you are looking for decent noise cancelling air buds.

I expected more. The voice controls work well and you don’t have to talk very loud. I wanted it to control more outside the Amazon ecosystem. If I am listening to a podcast or SiriusXM, nothing. Won’t pause things, cannot ask to open them. The sound is good, but added features kill battery life. The different sized ear cups help customize the fit. The outside wraps are really hard to put on. If you are staying in the Amazon system, they are great. If you use different ecosystems, think before you buy.

THE BREAKDOWN:
The Echo Buds(GEN 2) are easy to get setup and sound great. The initial setup was done by downloading the Amazon Alexa app via the Apple store or Google play store. Once you get the app, just follow the instructions and within a couple of minutes you are connected and ready to use them. They do include some really nice instructions that are easy to read and follow.
The Echo buds come with 3 different tips, (small, medium and large) and also some wing tips which is like a little silicone sleeve for the main body of the earbud. I have tried all of the tips and for me the best is one tip being medium and one tip being small.
These earbuds include Alexa which I find a nice feature. Just by speaking to your assistance you can do a ton of things. One thing that I find helpful is the shopping list, I can just tell my assistant to add….milk and bread to the shopping list and poof like magic it is done. Very helpful in my option.
The audio quality was very good with these earbuds. They are not the top of the line in sound but they definitely sound good on call, music and video. The ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) works very well as long as you have the right size tips selected.
The battery life was good around 15 hours with case and 5 hours per charge on each of the earbuds. If you charge for 15 minutes you get 2 hours of battery life.
PRO’s:
– Alexa enabled
– USB-C
– Good battery life
– Compact and easy to carry
CON’s:
– Not stellar on the bass
– Had trouble getting the earbuds in the case properly
SUMMARY:
Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

The unpacking experience and setup of my new Amazon Echo Buds was flawless. The instructions were very easy to understand and merely required me to open the Buds case (which was pre-charged, as were the Buds themselves), and then open the Amazon Alexa iPhone app (which I previously installed for Echo and other home automation purposes). The app immediately identified the Buds and established a connection. In less than 3 minutes the Buds were functioning.
The app then walked me through testing the Buds’ ear tips fit. I’m not certain how this worked, but I presume it may have been some sort of sound leak detection because during the test I heard a faint high-pitched sound. In any case, it was impressive because the test detected that I had only a fair rating with the medium size tips, so I replaced them with the included large (other sizes are in the box too) tips. After retesting the app scored a good rating. More important, the feel in my ears was great… not obtrusive yet secure in terms of the Buds not falling out of my ears.
My first sound quality test involved using both Spotify and Apple Music, using a variety of different music. The Buds sound quality is very good and may have better bass response than my other earbuds. Also, the noise cancelation function works well and notably isn’t accompanied by as much hiss sound as I’ve experienced with other earbuds’ noise cancelation.
Next, I tested phone call quality. On my end, the conversation sounded clear and as good or better than my other earbuds. People on the other end of calls told me that my voice sounded a bit distant, but otherwise good. However, when I began walking I heard a thumping sound with each step. I’ve tried to figure out how to minimize this, but so far no luck.
Calling/using Alex works great with the Buds. As is the case with traditional wired Echo devices, I simply said “Alexa…” and the command response worked perfectly. Also, I was impressed that when I call Alexa while wearing the Buds, other nearby Echo devices ignored my request, deferring to the Buds.
Overall, the Echo Buds 2 are very good, and certainly worth the approximately $100 price. There may be better earbuds available, but they cost more, and they don’t integrate with Alexa.

This is my first set of Amazon anything speakers. I have to say I was quite surprised for the sound quality that these put out. The app and setup process was very easy. The app even has an ear tip fit test for best comfort and sound. (The buds come with multiple tips) It also links you to your Amazon account.
One of the most important things to me being an audiofile is the fact that the app comes with personalization and eq settings allowing you to set bass and treble as you see fit in regards to your specific listening preferences.
It also has a cool find me setting in case you lose or misplace your buds. It uses bluetooh 5.0 and is splash proof. It does have active noise cancellation but I feel like it didn’t do that great of a job with people talking close to me..
Comes with pretty generic wireless charging case. Wireless type C which is a plus and does have indicator lights to let you know the status and how it is charge wise.
Overall I’d recommend these to others .. very comfortable and sound was pretty good too

They have a decent sound. Having Alexa on your ears is very convenient. In my case, I couldn’t get them to stay connected to my phone without the Alexa app being able to run in the background on my Android phone. The app was being optimized, going to sleep when not in use. The ear tips are a bit on the hard side. Because of this, they don’t fit the best in my ears, resulting in a bad seal. The test within the app was helpful finding the tips to give me the best seal/fit. The battery life is on the short side, but rarely am I listening to music or podcasts for 5 straight hours. They do tend to recharge quickly in the case. Overall I like them.
Likes:
1.) Decent sound
2.) Noise canceling
3.) Alexa wherever you are
Dislikes:
1.) Not the best battery life
2.) Don’t fit my ears the best
3.) Requires the app to connect

The Amazon Echo Buds are a solid in-ear headphone. Over the past few years, Amazon has worked to integrate various aspects of the home together with Alexa technology and this is a smooth addition to the family.
The echo bud set up was simple, having opened the Amazon Alexa app and simultaneously opening the echo bud case the app asked to pair the device. This was a quick and seamless process. Since setup, the echo buds will quickly phase between asleep in the case and being on and ready to be used. I have not had issues having them reconnect with my phone, which is an absolute blessing!
The set-up process was accompanied by finding the proper fit for the echo buds to enhance noise cancelation and overall comfort. There are covering pieces to provide a better fit in the outer ear, along with the tip pieces for a more comfortable fit within the ear canal. There is an accompanied “test” function within the Alexa app that will allow one to determine how well the fit is. I was not able to score the highest level with any combination I tried; however, I did find 1 pair of coverings+tips that provided a “good” fit. This combination does feel naturally comfortable within my ear, and I have been using it accordingly without issue.
The overall sound is clear, and when active the Alexa function is not overpowering in the ear. There is an equalizer built into the Alexa app. This is not extensive, but allows for some customization. If I could change one sound aspect of these buds, it would be to have a more intense base; however, this is a feature often times limited within in-ear headphones anyway.
The ear buds themselves will last for at least a couple hours (claim of 15 total hours including available charge within the unplugged case). I have yet to have the echo buds die while using them; however, I keep only one earbud in at a time and alternate between them. This is a habit I have with headphones in general, as I do not like to be locked away from the sounds around me. However, with that in mind… a feature of these buds is that they are noise cancelling and you can lock away from the world around you. The noise cancelling feature when both echo buds are in place is efficient. Having noise cancelling technology for in-ear headphones can be difficult; but amazon executed this feature well. When active, I still hear noises around me, but they are significantly dampened and not clearly heard. I am unable to make out what my wife is attempting to say, but can recognize there is noise present. When noise cancelation is turned off, you are able to reasonably hear the world and noises around you while still having the headphones actively playing.
The best “feature” of the echo buds is Amazon Alexa. The echo buds will listen for “Hey Alexa” and subsequently follow commands or answer questions. I am not a huge user of “hey” command functions, except in one aspect of my life…. My home with Alexa. Throughout my home, most rooms are smart bulb/switch enabled. These headphones allow for quick access and activation of my home lighting while in use without interruption, avoiding the need to activate other Alexa enabled devices. Having a command response localized to in-ear is also fabulous at night while others may be sleeping!
All in all, these headphones not only provide a comfortable wireless in-ear bud with noise cancellation but are “echo buds” which come with the perks of Amazon Alexa. I would not suggest these to a user who does not have a desire to have Alexa a part of their everyday life, but if you are like myself and already talk to Alexa quite frequently, these echo buds are quite the find.

As an owner of the previous generation of Amazon’s Echo Buds I was excited to try this second generation of the product. I was particularly interested in the Noise Canceling features and the Alexa integration.
The product packaging is clever and well organized. The box is designed to present both the product and the instructions for its installation in a logical and step-by-step fashion.
The buds are nestled in an a rectangular case with rounded edges that is pocket friendly. The case also acts as the charging base and provides the ability to provide additional charging boosts to the buds whenever they are in the case. One word of caution – the lid latch is pretty weak so you may find that it opens on its own when you insert or remove the case from your pocket.
If you already have the Alexa app on your phone please be certain to follow the instructions and update it before you try to set up the buds. I wasted a lot of time because I failed to do this initially!
Be prepared to pretty much allow full access permissions to your phone while installing the buds. Failure to do so will result in reduced functionality.
The earbuds come with a number of ear tip options. Choosing the best fit is critical in order to assure the Noise Cancelling feature works well. The buds do feature a pass-through function that is very handy if you need to momentarily suspend the noise cancelling to hear the outside world.
The audio quality is good. Not great, but good. The sound is aided by the noise cancellation feature. However, I must stress again how important it is to choose the best ear-tip fit to get the best from these buds.
Controls are solid if somewhat uninspired. The customizable tap interface is serviceable but I do miss the ability to control the volume by waving my hand that the Gen 1 buds offered.
In summary – the Amazon Echo Buds are a pedestrian addition to the in-ear market that offers good integration of the Alexa platform. They deserve your consideration if you are in the market.

Effectively useless for any physical activity. Experience from a short 30 minute jog in light rain.
* 0-10 minutes: Even with the right combination of tips / wings, the bulbs are huge and don’t fit well. Any touch to adjust triggers the controls which by default pauses your music.
*10-20 minutes: For some reason the headphones start in pass-through mode. At a slow jog this feels like sitting in a wind-tunnel. The experience is unbearable when bike riding unless you like white noise mixed in with everything. Switching to noise canceling requires a long touch, so you might as well stop running for a second. Once you start remotely sweating, this will randomly trigger the headphones to switch between modes.
* 20-30 minutes: The controls flake out even further in light rain. Expect periodic switching between noise-cancellation and pass-through mode about every minute.

We have at least a half dozen tws in our household from all different makers. This unit is just ok. It does everything just ok. Nothing really stands out and nothing really makes me hate it. The only real gripes for me is that it is a touch sensitive controls, which personally, I really hate. The anc, is ok, the sound is ok, the features are ok. This would be a great tws earbud for half the cost. But at this price, there is so many units that are just flat out better. At the time I’m writing this review, my jabra elite 75t are the same price as the amazon and the jabra is better at everything. So much better.

These earbuds are a good value. They were easy to setup via the Alexa app on my phone. Using the app to test the fit in my ear was pretty awesome. I have owned many earbuds and this is the first time I got a fit test. The sound quality is ok, but lacks bass. The equalizer in the app can help you to improve the sound. The small soze of the case is great because it fits easily in my pocket.

These Amazon Echo Buds 2nd generation headphones are a recent purchase and have had them for only a couple of weeks now. They were very easy to set up as are most of the Amazon Echo devices. The sound quality is OK but lacking dimension. The highs are tinny and there is not much base. I bought them so that I could use them to communicate with the other echo devices in the house when I am outside (Alexa Announce or drop in) the problem is that I have not been able to get this to work. I will have to contact Amazon customer support to see if this function is possible.
MischiefOW –
This is very simple, Amazon made a product that audiophiles might critique but for the price point and it’s amazing ANC features along with clear sound, this is a top contender when going against big brands like Bose, Apple, and JBL.
I gave this 4 stars because where it lacks is Alexa. It doesn’t always work. The Find feature also worked when it wanted to. I was 5 feet from the earbuds and they were out of town still (funny). This happened with them fully charged too. This might be a glitch but I thought that was very neat to have a feature like this because I do tend to lose my earbuds quite often.
The ANC feature was really what made this worth raving about. I work in a noisy environment and having regular earbuds really doesn’t help with the industrial sounds flooding your ears while you try to enjoy some classical music. In come these buds and their ANC feature which really hit it out of the park in my opinion. I was enjoying Bach and the sound of five 35 Ton AC units clicking on and off was non existent.
The sound is clear. Alexa is handy to have when she wants to work. I found that she works when you scream at her but it defeats the purpose because one of my four other Alexa’s pick up on that command and do it anyways. Would
I recommend it? Absolutely. At this price, they can afford for Alexa to be a little sub-par as long as the sound and battery life stays the same.

I have posted my review on amazon, but they did not want to post it. They did not like the facts that I stated after almost a year of having them. They over heat to the point you feel it on your ear. There is an annoying squeaky sound it makes when it separates from your ear. IF you cant find one, the other one is useless, they do not work alone unless the other bud is close by. If you barely touch the bud, alexa starts talking for no reason, It takes a ridiculous amount of time to connect these buds by bluetooth, when they do work, the sound is great and so is the Bose noise cancelling feature. It will overheat on you, keep that in mind. You will be hanging up on plenty of calls using these buds just by trying to adjust them.

One ear bud stopped charging and stayed at 1% – troubleshooting was unsuccessful. Comfort fit was acceptable but can be hard to wear for longer periods.
I had to return it due to the charging issue. Being able to connect it to alexa app and having the find feature if lost is great.

Overall pretty solid pair of headphones. I purchased these solely to use while working out and for travel. The only downfall is they are pretty touchy, so when I am adjusting them in my ear they will pause easily. Besides that they are comfortable and are perfect for my needs. If I were using them more often and for hours during the day I may look at a pricier option, but these are great for my needs

They work great. No complaints at all. They are easy to use.
