    Seems to be working good so far. I use it to record ota shows. I’ve had 2 or 3 of these convertors in another brand the past few years and they all had the same UI. All worked good just didn’t last a long time. Hopefully this one is more durable but either way is still a good inexpensive way to record if you have a usb storage device.

    I bought this for the dvr function, it does exactly what I need other than it will not let you record and watch another, with the proper antenna it picks up around 25 channels in my area.

    They keep burning out. I have to replace them about once every year. I’ve purchased at least 5 of them in the past five years.

    although the instructions were /are a bit difficult; the unit decided to work inspite of the wrong buttons we were punching. all of a sudden it decided to auto search and find the channels and that was very smooth going. we are still trying to figure out what buttonss to push to delete saved shows, or rename them or even to navigate the various places to find thing’s. we are old and disabled and find it a bit difficult. but i hope we will be able to figure it out. perhaps if your instructions were written for a third grader we could find it easier to navigate.

    I installed this device tonight. Im a senior woman and had no problems doing it. Have alot to learn but it will be rewarding for sure. Took the Tablo back and got this.. Much better system and half the price.. Try it!!

    Doesn’t work! Geek squad member came to my home and tried to make it work. After several minutes, he told me to return the Aluratek Digital Converter and ask for a refund.

    Setup and instillation instructions are somewhat confusing but can be managed via trial and error. Unit works fine initially, I can not talk about longevity.

    I love the ease of this digital recorder. I still have an old tv but now I can not only watch it, but I can record ( with a USB) it has an EPG so you know what’s on for a few hours in advance.

    I use this converter in conjunction with an antenna for my old back-up CRT tv. It has a surprising number of features. My big complaint is with the documentation. You need to use on screen menu keys in order to navigate around but my 14″ CRT tv has very poor resolution for this tiny print. The manual is of little help in using the full capacity of the converter. But this would be a good way to use that old TV you have while in the garage or shop.

    Made it a year then died for no reason. No power outage/surge, no physical damage, non smoker, no pets, no dust, nothing. Just dead.

    Given the reception problems I have (low elevation of location, high surrounding bldgs, etc.) it does about as well as can be expected. Must adjust the location of the antenna for different stations, depending on the time of day and the wind direction. Still learning the remote, which lacks some features of the remote of the previous converter box. Don’t like the compulsory numbering of channels, which makes the actual channel numbers of TV stations irrelevant. Digital recorder of no use to me.

    First one popped two days old. Replaced. This one is rebooting every minute Easter 5 months and beyond return period.

    Once you figure out how to use it, it is easy to set up and record programs. The manual for the converter leaves much to be desired. However, there are several good videos on YouTube to get you started. I suggest looking at the videos before purchasing the converter to see if it is for you. In addition to the TV’s remote controller, you will now have to use the Aluratek controller which comes with the unit for watching your TV. The unit also requires the additional purchase of memory for recording. I am using a 128 GB USB 2 flash drive which appears to be adequate for my TV viewing and recording habits. I purchased both the unit and memory when they were on sale.

    We are very happy with the digital converter box by Aluratek. It does exactly what we had hoped it would do and the price is surprisingly affordable. Thank You to the customer service representative who helped us find this antenna recorder that fits our needs. We have been wanting something like this for several years. We can now record a game while watching another game on TV (using a HD antenna).

    The TV I have doesn’t allow me to do certain things I want to do such as use my USB that I use for movies. I would have to use my XBOX and I hated doing that. I got this converter box and its perfect. I highly recommend.

    This product didn’t live up to the description it says it will record two shows but it would only do one and it’s picture would not fit the screen now matter what I did, so I returned it and bought a Tablo with 4 channels.
