Best Buy is the ONLY store that provides a way to purchase a dual-hose portable AC for Hawaii…and to top it off, it shipped for free with UPS service! Can’t beat that! Hats off to Best Buy!

I got this for my daughter’s upstairs room that seems to be hot year round. She is in heaven! The window kit was easy to install and the little assembly I had to do on the unit itself was simple. This cools her room quietly and efficiently.
Beadle –
This unit will cool your room very fast compared to single hose units. And you don’t get that negative pressure feeling. Only issue I had was with the window installation part. Had to saw off a good 3 inches to make it fit my window.
Mynewtv –
This unit is great .I have invested in several other units and was very disappointed in all of them .This one is perfect for our house cools great.
Gramz –
There is a lot of work that you have to do to this to make it work correctly. When you finally figure it out it’s ok. If you thinking of buying this make sure you buy the drainage pipe. It makes it somewhat easier
Bbuser –
This is the first product that met the needs for cooling a very awkward, not small, but small space effectively!

Keeps my main bedroom cold and it’s not to loud, does it’s job

We needed A/C on the second floor of an 80 year old brick house with steel encasement windows. This unit was researched by a Boing engineer family member which he thought was the best available for our needs. Best Buy had the best price. This unit is quiet and efficient.

I’ve been using this for almost a month now and it has been great! Cools down a 400ish Sq. ft. Living room in under an hour with no problem. It’s quiet and has an easy interface. Be sure to not turn it on right away, let it sit for at least four hours after setting up (it explains this in the manual). I let it sit a whole night before first use and it’s worked perfect.

We use this in our living room and it cools it down very quickly. The dual hose feature is a nice improvement over single hose units we have had in the past. Highly recommend this

I love it. I have one in the living room and one in my room. Wen I turn on the one in the living room it cool of my hole apartment.

This works great in my bedroom. Bought for my home office but it moved to my bedroom due to it being quieter than my 5 yr old Honeywell portable air conditioner. Actually I wanted to buy this brand 5 years ago but Best Buy was out of them. Only difficult part was removing the covers the had covering the exterior vent that goes in the window.

This portable unit is ideal. I like that it takes in and lets out the air simultaneously. I can cool two rooms and a hallway if its not super hot outside. The only unexpected tool i needed was a drip pan to catch the condensation buildup. Satisfied with my purchase.

Portable on wheels around the house is always a plus. Delivery time was very fast. Upon receiving I let the unit stand still overnight from transit travel. Nice and quiet it’s cool off very quickly making it comfortable. I would recommend purchasing a upper drain hose and a drain tray for catching water during those humid days. The dual hose is a plus and well worth the purchase of this 12,000 BTU glad I bought on sale. Great buy

This AC has some minor downsides, but is overall excellent at its main job — cooling. I purchased it after another AC (single-hose model with 10000 BTU, advertised for a 450 sq ft room) didn’t cool my room properly. This one does the job with power to spare.
Pros:
1) Powerful. (As far as portable ACs go. All portable ACs are less efficient than normal window ACs)
2) Quiet (as far as portable ACs go). While no portable AC is pleasant to be next to, this one is about as a fan. It’s a little quieter than my previous, less powerful portable AC. The noise level doesn’t change much when the compressor turns on or off.
Cons (compared to that other AC):
1) Takes a little time (30 min) and effort to assemble. Needs a screwdriver for initial assembly and even to adjust the size of the window panel. Painful to detach hoses from the window panel unless you read the manual and know the trick (it’s supposed to be twisted).
I can see that for certain size of window, you’d need to cut the plastic panel for it to fit perfectly. My window was large enough that I didn’t need to do this.
2) The UI and the remote are not great. The only way to see what temperature the room is currently at is to switch it to a fan mode. The display is hard to read, especially once the backlight turns off. The remote is supposed to show what the AC is set to, but its display easily gets out of sync with the actual setting.

My garage isn’t very insulated or at all and this keeps it tolerable. Would be great for in home use. Blows very cold air just can’t keep up with Texas heat in a large uninsualted space
LANi –
This works very well for a portable a/c. I have a black and decker as well and the Whytner is a much better product.
Charlie –
The water reserve has already filled up and stopped the machine and I had to disconnect it and take it outside to drain as am unable to find a drain hose for either the upper or lower drains. Went to the on line places that it suggested and they are sold out of the products. Have ask how long before they would get them back in and have not hear back from them yet. If it is going to built up water than it should just come with the drain hose the other brand that I bought did come with the drain hose
Flying –
This unit is quit and effective. Has a rotary compressor.
Nogood –
My room is 224 SQ feet doesn’t get cool enough wouldn’t recommend
Trump2020 –
I purchase this for a family member because the main central air was not cooling the room sufficiently. This was a nice added bonus that worked just fine.
Photopro –
Works well. Not too noisy. I’d give it 5 stars but I don’t like that the fan runs continuously even when the AC compressor is idle. That’ll use more electricity. I have a ceiling fan. I don’t need the AC fan always On.

Owned this for 4 weeks and even though we haven’t had real hot weather I am very pleased with cooling ability. Haven’t tried all the features, such as the different settings and using the remote because the basic cooling is all I’ve needed. we’ve been cooling about 450 sq. feet
Greg –
Works well in Vegas. Very dry here, so I don’t have to worry about condensation. Keeps a large bedroom ice-cold at night, even when it’s above 100 outside.
ParentalUnit2 –
No lights or loud fan to keep you up at night. I wish it had a swing feature and it did not build up so much condensation on the top. It cools great.
Skippy –
We have an old house with windows we had to replace. So, now we have two large windows that don’t open very wide. This year we tried this portable air conditioner. I love it. It works very well. It also removes humidity well. A very good choice for us. The set up was easy too.
Haute –
Needs a little more details in the instructions.
Not much noise.
Fubar –
Very loud high-pitched whistles through exhaust tubing, leaks water from reservoir on floor period when unit hasn’t even been running that long of a Time period even with the top drain plug removed and hose attached for constant drainage still leaks all over floor
Tony –
Easy to set-up and sends out cool air. You might need a fan if you want the cool air to reach larger areas.

After researching online, including reviews in Consumer Reports, decided on this unit. After shopping around, Amazon had the best price, but anyone who’s ever done business with Best Buy knows that when it comes to the overall promise of making the customer happy, only Costco is in the same ballpark. After getting on the phone to make the order, Best Buy matched Amazon’s price. Nuff said.
The only “shortcoming” is that the window adapter wouldn’t work in any of my windows and especially the window where I chose to install it. I’m DIYer, so fabricating a window adapter using scraps that I had around was not a big deal.
The other thing to be aware of is that it is recommended that you put these units on one circuit by itself. I originally had it on a circuit that shared a computer, some lights, and a TV. The plugs got hot to the touch. It was probably still safe, but not wanting to take a chance, I ran an extension cord from an outside plug that had nothing else on it. Problem solved.

So I bought this for use in Redondo Beach, California and have been using it daily for the last month. First the Pro’s. It was simple to set up and the casters made moving this unit very easy. We had a late summer heatwave where temperatures were in the high 90’s with 80% humidity. This unit definitely cooled my small 12×10 room to a comfortable temp and humidity. Now the Cons: This unit needs to be drained constantly. After running for an hour or so, the unit beeped and turned off. Apparently the unit turns off when there is too much water That it can not evaporate. After reading the manual, I placed The unit on a stand, put a bucket under the unit and drained out the water. As I wanted to use the unit overnight, I kept the drain open and let it drain constantly. When I checked the bucket in the morning, there was about a gallon and a half of water. As the humidity had been very high, I assumed that this was to be expected. However, now that temperatures and humidity are nowhere near the peak, I’m still having a gallon of water in the bucket daily. As I am capable of emptying a bucket of water daily, I have no problems with this unit, but if you are elderly or unable to empty a bucket of water daily, I would suggest you try another unit. There are drain tube spigots that theoretically you could attach to the unit to drain it outside, however, I have no intention of drilling into the floor or wall so that option does not work for me. If you can live with emptying a bucket of water everyday you use the unit, then this unit may work for you too.

I bought this to put in the master bedroom which is a little under 400 sq ft. This bedroom is west facing and heats up every evening as a result. It is also farthest from central AC unit and gets very low airflow. Our son’s room is right next to central AC and I cannot equalize temps at night. Rather than freezing out our son, I got this to maintain a temperature in our bedroom. It is 3 feet away from the bed. I don’t find the sound from it to be annoying at all. The compressor turning on and off my bother some people, but it is an AC, this is what they do. You can be hot with no AC or tolerate a compressor starting. If it bothers you they sell earplugs to help mitigate. I really like the dual hose design but I had to use the continuous drain option for the water. I created my own hose connection that drains into a bucket since it is humid where we live. For our purpose, this works great.

Great piece of machine! Helped a lot during the hot summer. Although the electricity bill rose- probably my only concern. Oh- also- the need to drain of excess moisture in the air can be a bit of a pain if you don’t have it automatically drained.
Michael –
I have this for 2 plus years. Still works great. Cools a large room. As loud as one would expect for a large AC unit. I like you can connect a hose to the back and drain outside- consider this as a must in a high humidity environment. High quality unit.
laptop –
Excellent! Got for my son’s dorm room and he says that it keeps room icy cold.
Drewberry –
Wish it got colder faster, but it does the job. We live in Cali where it’s dry, so never really had to empty the drip pan. It’s in storage for the winter months and hopefully it holds up well.
Jtrizzy –
Works well. Comes with a storage bag to keep parts and manual together. Wheels glide easily to get from spot to spot.
Nate –
Very good air conditioner. Cools the whole room with ease and I have not had to empty the water catch due to the evaporation system they have.
FLDan –
Lasted 5 months and then no longer cooling. Compressor gets so hot I fear it may catch fire. Whynter was kind enough to offer warranty repair but I had to pay outbound cross country shipping. Rather than pay the $100+ shipping it found a new home in the dumpster. Highly recommend the geek squad insurance with this unit. Unfortunately I did not and now am out a “few” hundred dollars.

This has saved our lives last summer and this one. With all the smoke and extreme heat we can’t depend on the Pacific Ocean to cool the nights and open windows and fans to cool the house down. This has worked really well. We close up the rest of the house and it has to work hard to cool about half the house, but it manages. It’s supposed to be a room AC and we have been getting it to cool 3 rooms and a hallway. It’s pushing it but keeps the house to a comfortable temp.
We have put HEPA filter over the intake more of a jury riig to deal with the smoke and it seems to handle the reduced air flow on the intake ok. Doubt the engineers would like it, but we need to filter the air when it’s 170AQI or more!
Ponto –
Purchased this for the heat wave we had and it worked great. Best dual hose unit I could find.
Bmbh –
Quiet, efficient, and effective! Easy to use and hook up!
SweatyBurbank –
Compressor only turns on for 10 minutes, then cuts off the rest of the night. Rated for 400 sq ft, but can’t even handle a 250 sq foot room. Just paid for an expensive fan, will be returning.

Easy set up easy have a box everything was great!!!!

I took a chance on this unit, based off of the reviews…I regret it.
I had issues almost right away, after getting it installed and using it a handful of times. It would shut itself off completely at random, and when I reached out to customer service (Best Buy said that since it was within the year warranty, I had to go through the manufacturer).
I got the basic troubleshooting guide (is it plugged in, does the wall outlet work, etc.), as well as being told that the unit shuts off once it gets within 5° of the set temperature, and will turn back on after 15 minutes…it didn’t, I would have to turn it back on manually. Then, I started having issues with it sounding like the fan was hitting or rubbing.
I again reached out to the manufacturer and received more troubleshooting guides, as well as being told that I needed to open the back of the unit myself, and make sure that there wasn’t any damage.
They told me they would have to send a service tech out, and I asked them if we could have someone out ASAP, as the weather is starting to get hot. Nothing has been scheduled, and no reply in the last few days, other than asking me to provide my order invoice for the 3rd time.
I ended up taking the unit back to Best Buy tonight and getting a new, cheaper unit, at the cost of $144 out of my own pocket because of Whynter’s abysmal customer support and losing my Geek Squad warranty on it. I will never purchase another one of their products.

I bought this almost two years ago.
The good: It cools well.
The bad: it was fine for a year then started making the dreaded ca-CHUNK each time the compressor turns off. It wakes us up at night now. Made it through half a season(2020) and whole season last year with no problems. It didn’t get moved or damaged. The other thing is started doing is an incessant buzzing in the plastic case when the compressor was running. Tried everything to get it to stop.
Note: I sent an email to the company for direction on both issues and got no response. It’s out of warranty now so i guess they don’t care.
We went out and bought a window unit that is WAAAAY more quiet. Not sure what to do with this now.
Brotherinker –
As it has turned cooler since I received this portable AC I haven’t used it to cool the bedroom…but, I can say it does run very quietly and it does throw out very cool air. The price was very good at the end of the season and I think it was a good choice to purchase it now and have it ready for next summer.
Steve –
Cools quickly and well. A bit noisier for sleeping than I expected when using the lowest a/c setting. Maybe the low noise that is advertised is for the fan, which I have not used. However, the fact that it cools so well allows for a restful sleep even with the extra noise. I have checked the lower drainage plug after using the unit for a few weeks and only a drop of two of moisture was present, so it should be able to run every night for a full summer (at least) in SoCal without being emptied. A bit cumbersome to install, so expect apx 1 hour to install, especially if you have to cut the window piece.
SRXR1 –
Effective at cooling room. It is loud enough that it would be hard to watch TV in the same room but overall it’s quieter than expected for a portable air conditioning unit. It’s nice it has a remote control. The window kit takes a little time to figure out but it works. Though, since the edge of the window kit is staggered/not even, it leaves openings to the outside. However, I think if you add weatherstripping to the edge of the kit, you can get a decent seal.
Unknown –
Keeps on running and works well. Can be used as a dual hose or single hose
