    My wife and I purchased a Whirlpool gas dryer (Model WGD4850BW) from Best Buy at the beginning of June. On its first use, my wife found that it pulled threads from our new set of towels. To Best Buy’s credit, it offered to replace our new dryer with the same model. On the first use of the replacement dryer, we found the same problem. We could see the threads hanging from the moisture sensor at the rear of the drum. There are two metal strips which caught the fabric. We began dealing with Whirlpool directly on June 24. They sent a repair man who documented the problem and said, “I can see where you are having a problem. The sensor has a sharp edge.” He sent pictures to Whirlpool. After 5 calls to Whirlpool and two calls from them, they told us on July 24 that they had come to the conclusion that “this may happen with with loose woven material.” They offered no solution. Their representative said, “I cannot recommend any further actions on your part.” I was amazed at their response. I feel that Whirlpool has a design or production flaw with this dryer. They certainly do not have the customer in mind.

    Have had the unit a few months now, and has performed flawlessly. At first i had one of those cheap flex pipes attached to the exhaust, when i changed over to one of the semi-rigid pipes, the performance of the unit greatly improved. Suggest spending a few bucks on the better piece.

    This dryer got good reviews and was a lot cheaper than those ranked at the top. So far, I’m very happy with the results. Not lots of extras which makes it easy to use, and even the towels dry in less time than before.

    This is my first gas dryer. Hook up was pretty easy after a trip to home hardware store. Dryer exhaust air gets hot pretty fast! Clothes dry pretty quickly when using the matching high efficiency washer. Best Buy price matched big box store price with free shipping. Delivery guys brought it right into laundry room.

    Dryer works great.. its efficient. Only drawback is where the lent filter is located. I wish it was located elsewhere. Its located on the top, and when you change out the filter lint flies everywhere.

    I recently replaced my old Kenmore unit with this unit. Install was easy. The only issue/dislike I have for this unit was having to install the feet at the bottom of the unit to match the height of my matching Whirlpool washer. Not sure why Whirlpool decided to install the feet on the washer and not the dryer. Regardless, this unit has a large capacity and the drying is a night/day difference between my older conventional Kenmore dryer. Clothes come out much softer and smell much better with the same amount of dryer sheets.

    Good value for sale price. Model allows good manual control over desired operating settings. Great replacement for 15 year old dryer.
    Much more efficient and quieter. Only question is will this last as long as prior dryer?

    There is nothing special about this dryer. I wanted a basic dryer that had both sensor controlled drying, a sound on/off knob and a light inside. This met those with the lowest price. If you remove those option you can get super cheap but I wouldn’t go that far.

    I specifically ordered this gas dryer even though it was not the one that went with the washer we purchased because of the extra features it had. I am satisfied with the features and that it is very spacious but I do not like that my clothes and towels do not come out feeling or smelling soft and fresh like they did in my old dryer. I wash and dry my laundry the exact same way, however over a month after using my new washer and dryer my clothes are not the same as before. It does beat the Laundromat though.

    Only thing I would warn against is if the installer can’t get the old hot water line disconnected from the wall then basically your free installation won’t be free but that has nothing to do with THIS washer it’s any one of them. You will have to call a plumber to get it free. Apparently it’s a common thing for water lines to corrode to stick hard, but they don’t tell you that they won’t fix the issue for you. Plumbers aren’t cheap.

    The gas dryer was delivered on time and the old Kenmore of 34 years was picked up. I hooked up the gas line and exhaust. This dryer has larger capacity, a wider metal hinge door which pulls downward to keep clothes off the floor, and an internal moisture sensor. The heat temperature has 4 settings plus “no heat”. “Ex Low” takes about an hour to finish. We use “Low” which takes about 35 minutes at “energy Saver” setting. Everything works well. I just hope it lasts at least 30 years. The price was $450 plus tax, the lowest I could find.

    I wasn’t sure if I would like this one, but it does a nice job at drying clothes. And, the real test is that my wife likes it. Lots of different settings make it easier to choose the most economical setting for the load.

    Best Buy did a good job in delivering the equipment on time. The only negative thing was that they did not inform me beforehand that I had to get a special gas connection cable for this dryer.

    Large capacity dryer – dries clothes fast and without wrinkles. Wrinkle Shield button great feature if you can’t take clothes out of dryer right away. User Manual well written and easy to understand on what each of the buttons on dryer are used for. Like ‘Cycle Signal’ button – where you can choose to have signal beep or not when dryer has stopped. Also, like energy preferred option…to save energy and money on utility bills. Great no frills dryer for the price.

    Only minor negative thing is dryer lint tray is on top and leaves some lint on top of dryer when pulling out tray to clean lint off. Our old dryer had lint tray on inside of door so didn’t have this problem then.

    I used to have an electric dryer and wow what a difference. This works so well, the clothes dry in half the time. It is pretty quite and so far I have had no issues.

    We wanted a basic dryer without the fancy electronics that tend to break down and cause expensive repair bills. This dryer is great. I especially appreciate the moisture sensor and the wrinkle release cycle that keeps your clothes from wrinkling if you don’t remove them immediately once they are dry. Best buy delivery was fast and easy.

    This dryer is able to accommodate very large loads, such as your bedding and such. I installed it in my apartment and the noise is fairly low. The options are very easy to navigate and the extra wide door makes loading and unloading very convenient! Highly recommend.

    I have had this dryer and matching washer now for about 2 months…still getting used to all of the loud and weird noises but is working well. Buttons seem sturdy and glide from option to option.

    I’ve been pretty pleased with my dryer. The price was ideal. Most often the clothes come out dry. Have had occassions where sheets twist up with other clothes and come out damp. It is a little noisy. I was not looking for tons of functions, just want dry clothes and for the most part this dryer does that.
