Our 1st washer was delivered with a dent…the delivery guys actually pointed it out. We ordered a replacement, and used the dented one while we waited on the new one. We are a family of 5 and do a lot of laundry. Haven’t thrown anything in there that hasn’t come clean (including a large couch cushion cover that had dog vomit on it). Would give it 5 stars except that you can’t rinse your detergent cap due to the nature of the machine. It senses the load before filling the drum with water, so the lid is locked when the water starts coming out. Also, only comes with one year warranty.

Great top loader. Easy operating panel, low noise and good cleaning.

After many strange sounds and a good length of time the machine will finally start. At first I used the 2nd rinse cycle and felt that must be the reason that it takes so long for a load to wash. I opted for just 1 rinse cycle and still it took as long. I am now using the “quick wash” feature and it takes approximately 50 minutes to wash a load. This machine would be fine if you had hours to do your washing. I do not! I almost wonder if this is a defect in this particular machine. Does anyone else have to deal with this?

I wanted a basic washer without bells & whistles of a computer. Unfortunately they all are “smart” now. I’ve had this product for one month and it works great, spins clothes to near dryness, and is quick. However, it’s quite loud and can be startling to hear at night when it shifts cycles.

We bought a Whirlpool gas dryer (WGD4850BW) in January ’14 and when our 25 year old Kenmore washer gave out in September, we naturally decided to go with the matching washer. It runs quieter than the Kenmore but takes more time to wash a load. The Kenmore could wash an average size load in about 35 minutes. This washer takes about an hour from start to finish for the same size load.
The Whirlpool has a sensing system that adjusts the water temperature and amount of water used based on the user settings for a particular load. The first load of laundry we washed took 17 minutes to get through the sensor phase – all that before the wash even starts. If there was a way to bypass this phase, I would do it the day after the warranty expires. Having said that, the washer does what it is supposed to do and with less noise than our former washer. We’ll just have to get used to the wash times.

Like many new washers, it is quite noisy. But i like the automatic water level and it has all the bells and whistles I need.

Great machine! Only wish is a finished wash buzzer

Great features and performance. This pair replaced a 15 year old Whirlpool set that was still working, but it was just time to update.

Just wish it had a finished wash cycle buzzer. Tub is not as deep as Cabrio which is nice for persons with back issues.

I have owned this for 14 months now. It has been slowly ruining my clothes ( I assume due to the lack of water in the bowl) and has now just failed to stop cycling and continuously moving to the next cycle. Whirpool is not interested in helping as it is 2 months out of the 1 year warranty period. Ends up a faulty main computer thingy which is setting me back $250.00. My repair guy says these machines are riddled with problems and this is a known issue from the last model which was the first time they made this machine. He said we can expect for another part to probably fail as well soon as the components they use are not quality. He has seen lots of these machines all just outside of the warranty period and all with the same issue. So if you are gonna waste your money on this machine buy the extended warranty or don’t buy this at all.
