Seriously, why is this higher than regular panel dishwashers? Is it more expensive to make or just that its a desired look to match the kitchen? also to have it paneled is crazy expensive. I am all about people making a profit but give me a break!

DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. This is the worst design I have ever seen. It fits half the dishes as my last machine. Flimsy shelves and a utensil caddy that is small and floats in the middle of the bottom shelf. you have to pull out the top tray and reinstall it to move it higher ; not a easy adjustment. The light on the start button was off and not working from the beginning and I can’t get the unit replaced I am forced to have it fixed under warranty..Whirlpool refused. I wasn’t aware it was supposed to light up when you push the start button and then I asked and it was maybe 2 weeks after I ordered and they did not offer anything other than a repair. The mounting system is 2 screws in the sides located in a position that will allow the unit to tip and then you need to figure out a way around that issue. horrible designed trays leave inches of valuable room that can be used to allow for more dishes; whoever designed this should be drawn and quartered.
