I waited a couple months to write a review. I saw all the negative posts, but the positive ones sold me. Don’t make my mistake believing they were just a few unsatisfied people.
First Positives:
1.) It cooks food.
2.) The sensor cook seems to work well, especially on soups.
3.) It looks great.
Negatives:
1.) Will not stay connected to the internet. So all the features they advertise are usually not available.
2.) The touchscreen needs a major overhaul. It constantly freezes and we have to unplug the microwave to reset it.
If you buy it make sure to get the warranty.

A little overrated of a machine. Has wireless power with limited features.
BCornish –
Nice looking unit, but the electronics and touch screen element are terrible.
Something as simple as a digital clock – runs fast! The functionality of the entire device depends on this ‘intelligent’ interface which flakes out and reboots every other week, and then requires resetting. The user menu and interface is poorly designed and occasionally all functionality ceases, at which point a full flake out and reboot happens on its own…
Weak and disappointing product, from day 1.

Great microwave and oven. Touch screen works well. Alexa commands are a little delayed though.
Lynn –
I love this new microwave. I think the screen was a little difficult to use at first but once I figured it out, it is so much fun!
BigBuddy –
It’s a large microwave which I absolutely love. The convection and sensing features are extremely nice. I don’t really have to tell the microwave what’s in it. It senses the food and warms/cooks accordingly. The wi-fi and app are fairly easy to install. The scan to cook feature is extremely nice. I’ve scanned frozen dinners and it has cooked every time perfectly. My wife her new microwave. It fit in a 36 inch space. I bought the 6 inch installation kit and it looks awesome. It’s perfect for my family. The geek squad was pretty awesome as well. Great job by them.

Bought in March, delivered in June due to COVID.
Used June and July and was so excited for how beautiful and sleek it was.
Come 8/1, the entire display stopped working. Which meant you can’t cook anything. Best buy doesn’t repair Whirlpool appliances under a year. Whirlpool has no appointments for the next 50 days.
Deciding if it’s worth my time to have it repaired – which seems that even if they do, the display is a MAJOR issue with this microwave and will continue to go out … or just cut my losses and replace it with a different product.
Buyer beware on this one. It’s beautiful – if it works.

Touch screen keeps the settings and have to reset the time and date

It is perfect for my new house. Design is simple and clean
SnowMan919 –
Convection feature works well, even on pizza. Touch screen is buggy and the unit needs rebooting every 7 to 10 days to clear out issue. If this continues, we may need to make a warranty service call.
Karl –
Purchased this microwave as a replacement. This microwave gets used quite often and does a great job warming/cooking food. The only complaint is the touch screen will hang up once in a while, which requires having to reset the power to fix the issue. Beyond that annoyance this has been a good product so far.
Discussed –
Microwave came with poor instructions for installation, very noisy, dent inside, no cooking instructions.
Do not buy.
CountZero –
Very buggy, have had constant issues with the screen freezing and then the microwave “rebooting”. Happens several times a week. Now that the warrantee has expired, there also seems to be some mechanical issue with the rotating tray as about half the time it makes a grinding noise and the microwave shuts off. Have contacted Whirlpool but since it’s been about 18 months since purchase, I don’t expect resolution.
Believe the many reviews about the screen issues with this microwave, they are real!
Also, the “smart” features aren’t particularly useful. Sure, it’s nice to be able to ask Alexa to turn the hood fan / light on and off, but as far as actually using it to cook food, it’s way easier to just hit the +1 min button than to talk through getting it to reheat something via a voice control which ultimately requires you to press the start button anyway. Maybe if we cooked more pre-packaged foods like tv dinners this would be more useful, but for the most part we use a microwave to re-heat left-overs, so the smart options just aren’t useful to my family.

Microwave works great. The only problem is the display goes off sometimes and the microwave has to be unplugged to reset it. No other appliances go off.
Newovertherange –
Still getting use to the product. Not sue about the convection feature yet.
Kevan –
Love the interactive screen and assisted cooking option. The microwave senses the food to get temperature just right. Soften butter you have to see to believe. Defrost option leaves the meat just like your pick it up fresh at the store.
Jkeithb –
Worst microwave ever. I’ve had various issues with the touchscreen and saying connected to the WIFI since I got it. Now it keeps rebooting itself and freezing. Certified repair man came today and he said this has been common with this panel and the only fix is to order another one. Of course it’s backordered for 3 weeks. That’s not acceptable
JTIV –
The one good thing about this microwave is that it looks nice.
The problem is that everything else you expect out of a microwave, this one fails at. The touch screen freezes all the time, it randomly resets itself about every 4 – 5 days which sets the clock at Jan 1 @ 7:00, and multiple times within the 2 months I’ve owned this unit I’ve had to physically unplug it/replug it to get it to do anything at all. Heed the bad reviews on this unit.
I’m also in a dispute with Best Buy because they claim they delivered the range I ordered to my house, which they did not. Support reps are no help. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere…anywhere else. The few dollars you might save will quickly not be worth it after hours and weeks on the phone with them, which ends up getting you nowhere.

Maytag speaks for its name , loaded with features and ease to use still discovering more and more features

Attractive Unit.Versatile.Had some difficulty establishing remote management.

Purchased an older but brand new model elsewhere… the one place that has 2yr warranty by default! Bought it in Q4 2018, and it failed in Q1 2021. It’s as if the failure is planned. The model is not being sold anymore. So can’t write a review for that. The unit failed right out of warranty period. The touch controls went bad, starting with slow deterioration and then became completely unresponsive, including the ones unrelated to microwave like cooktop fan and light. The diagnostics, parts and labor exceed the price of the unit, so off to the landfill it goes. The environmentalist in me is sad. Oh, and don’t be surprised that they make you feel bad for not getting the extended warranty… what a racket it is!
I’ve a strong hunch that the faulty door design is the culprit… it accumulates moisture from food in between its two surfaces, and that must’ve seeped onto the electronic board. I’ve ugly drip marks on the inside that can’t be cleaned unless you crack open the door assembly. The unit here is similar, hence warning the potential buyers of this flaw. We will be very wary of Whirlpool going forward.

Love the look . With lots of modern features . Clean look
Kosta –
I have used it only for few days but couple of times it restarts by itself and the screen started flickering so i had to unplug it. We will see in the future, it has a lot of options but seems like the software and the screen are problematic.
DrumTech311 –
I bought this and had no idea it had a touch screen and wifi. Really only got it based on size. Pleasantly surprised.
rsg63 –
We use this unit for all our oven-type cooking. It’s well made and only has one flaw that I have noticed. The unit will reboot occasionally (once a week or so) but only when you are about to use it, oddly enough. It takes about 1 min to come alive again then runs like a champ. The convection works flawlessly and really heats up well. We’ve taken it up to 450 degrees and the food was cooked perfectly. Overall I’d buy it again. I like using the phone app to preheat the oven before I get home if needed. The microwave is very powerful and totally crushes the unit it replaced as far as time to cook and noise.
Eddie –
GREAT ADDITION TO KITCHEN!! So convenient, located right above stove, able to multi-task.
Anthony –
The availability of an extra convection oven for Thanksgiving dinner scored me some points with the wife. This microwave is amazing. I’d love to see better integration with Alexa though like having her know how much time is left on whatever is in there.
Uggh –
Have had to reboot the touch screen many times since it was installed. Now I have to have a tech come out to look at it,,,,Uggh….
Keith –
The electronics keep powering off. Hard to clean the surface as it shows fingerprints.
Cathy –
Microwave is awesome the size goes perfectly with the stove color choice for all the places in the stainless was perfect it makes my kitchen pop
Best –
I love it. It works well. I have not used the convection feature but I am sure it will work well too.
Morgan12x –
Have owned this microwave for awhile now and it has never worked quite right since day 1. Multiple times a week it will either stop in the middle of a cooking cycle, lock up, and eventually reboot. Or sometimes just becomes totally unresponsive and has to be unplugged to reboot. Even then when it boots back up the time will be completely wrong even though it is setup on Wi-Fi and the date/time is set to auto in the app. You have to go into the app, unselect auto time, and then reselect it. I would not recommend this microwave at all. Go with something that doesn’t have Wi-Fi and all the gimmicks.
Clay –
Excellent product so far. Very quiet and easy to use.
Gothmog –
This over-the-range microwave has all the features one could want.
Whirlpool –
This is an awesome microwave! It is also a convection oven. It is Wi-Fi compatible. The guy that installed the microwave was fantastic he does an incredible job! We are very happy with the microwave!
LMAA –
Wow. Cool microwave with many features.
PRO: You can control the microwave with your phone and get notifications. Many different cooking capabilities.
CON: The ability to scan a barcode on a food box sounds cool but I’m having issues finding a valid food barcode that works (even on common well known brands).
AlanGuggenheim –
So far, great controls and performance. I like the smarts.
Jane –
Sleek design and easy to use touch pad. This microwave was chosen because of the convection oven option.

I have had this microwave for 5 months. The microwave kept rebooting at lease twice a week. Last week, the door on the inside started melting to the frame of the microwave. We didn’t even have the unit turned on, we just started smelling burnt plastic.
LarryG –
Really works well both as a microwave and convection oven. I bought open box, which I would not do again as it was missing parts despite being told otherwise by Best Buy but that is not the oven’s fault. Very nice product.
RJPA –
Very impressed with the functionality and performance. Surprisingly quiet too.
DouglasH –
I enjoy using the many features and always trying new cooking recipes

i thought i would have trouble with this hi tech microwave, boy was i wrong, very easy to operate, and love the touch screen, and it look great in my kitchen , very very quiet when operating, good purchase
SusanS –
Needed a new microwave. Did not realize you could get one with convection. Did our 1st chicken and it was great. So far everything is great. Would recommend this item if you have to replace your current microwave.
Doubtfulmaple –
A few problems here and there but its weird tec its to be expected but a nice thing to be able to remote start stuff.
Will –
I have this microwave for 4 year already the best microwave’s of ever , you can download the whirlpool app and increase the option of cooking, the sensing sensor help to avoid over heat your food, excellent to heat the milk for the coffee is excellent.
More option then any other microwave in the market also is a conventional oven and warmer to keep your food warm. You need one of those in your house. Paid little more but a lot of choices. The only issue I have in 4 year was the door lock get stock but with a YouTube video I fixed and worked beautifully again.
Headhntr –
After my over the range microwave died, I searched pretty extensively for a replacement. This has proven to be the perfect fit for what I need. It is very powerful, quiet and versatile. The fact that it is a smart appliance is an added bonus and works very easily with Amazon’s Alexa. I has an easy to use but extensive on screen menu for cooking and the convection feature is icing on the cake. Highly recommended
BryantH –
Great microwave love the wifi feature. Best Buy Is Great for appliances. Especially open box stuff.
Frantzpayen –
IN APPLIANCE WIRLPOOL GOT ME EVEN THOUGH SOMETIMES SANSUMG HAS ITS PICKS. HIGH END QUALITY PRODUCT.
Dean –
This review is right out of the box. Good looking applicance but maybe more complicated than you need a mircowave to be – for example, still can’t figure out how to just run it for 10 seconds. Having an issue getting the applicance to connect to Whirlpool servers (necessary for some of the advanced features that integrate with your phone), but still working on it. Have not had any of the screen problems that have been identified below, but again still early in ownership. If it needs an update, I’ll provide. They force you to select either Yes or No for recommendation, I’m really a maybe.
