First, anyone having trouble adding this to their existing Webroot install is most likely confused. Continue reading the next paragraph if this applies to you or if you are just interested in the process, otherwise skip to the third paragraph to read my review.

All that needs to happen once you purchase a new year (or two…but why would you do that?) of Webroot protection, you need to click/tap on “Returns & Orders” up top in the Amazon header bar, then click/tap the Webroot purchase and then click/tap the “go to software library” button. This will take you to a list of software you have purchased and on top should be the Webroot option you selected and purchased. Listed in the info of the product is a 20 digit keycode presented like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. Copy this keycode. Then open up Webroot, which should already be running in the background. If it is, the icon is hidden behind the “show hidden icons” arrow on the right of the Windows taskbar. Double click the icon and click on the settings gear to the right of “My Account” after the Webroot box pops up. Paste the keycode in the white keycode field under the “Activate a new keycode” heading. Click “Activate”. You should see a popup telling you the code was applied and then your subscription days should reset to 365. You are done.

Webroot is simply the best security software I’ve tried. I’ve used most of the others in the past and have experience with free versions and open source versions. Once I tried Webroot I never looked back. It’s easy, light and good at catching stuff. I could go deeper into all of those reasons but if you really want a detailed comparison between the competition there are plenty of professional review/comparisons out there and I would suggest just searching for them. Each time I’ve personally done just that, I read the same conclusions over and over. Webroot is listed at the top in terms of protection and performance.

Now as for my experience as a customer of Webroot, it’s better than the rest too, but not without irritations. The first being the auto-renewal that somehow gets checked even though I would bet my computer that I unchecked the box. This is not unique to Webroot but no less infuriating (and scummy) if you somehow miss the single email they send reminding you they are about to charge you double what you can pay to get another year subscription. Lookout for that if this is a new purchase for you. I’m pretty sure it’s happened once after just putting in a new keycode too, so my advice is just be aware this “benefit” might somehow get selected magically. Just the idea Webroot is willing to scam current customers with the auto-renewal makes me mad. There is no reason the auto-renewal can’t reflect the actual going price for their software. If they are willing to sell it on their site to new customers for a discounted price they should be selling it at that price to the people who are auto-renewing. Again, this isn’t unique to Webroot.

In conclusion, if you need protection for your computer, in my experience this is the best option.

Excellent value for a lot of valuable features. The software was easy to get downloaded and just as easy to set up on both my Android device and my PC. I like that this gives you protection for your phone, PC, Mac and so on.. a true “one size fits most” anti-virus+. The added benefit of LastPass and Allstate identity protection is a gamechanger, in my opinion. I’ve used multiple anti-virus companies over the years and so far this is just as good as other big names, if not better. I like the protective alerts that keep you informed in case you accidentally venture into any potentially dangerous places on the web. Scammers and hackers continously come up with new ways to steal private information and I think Webroot innovates and stays on top of what the bad guys are up to. This device and I.D. protection software has given me peace of mind that my devices will stay healthy and virus free and my identity will be safe from the dark web. In summary, this is a great value with all it’s features. If you’re in the market for a great all around anti-virus and then some, give this a try!

I have been using Webroot Antivirus for many years now. It’s my go-to virus protection for all my devices. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of what it does well and doesn’t.

    Pros:
+ Excellent protection against viruses, malware, rootkits and more
+ Doesn’t hog resources (CPU and memory) as much as other antivirus software
+ Performs smart scans very fast
+ Easy to install and use
+ Detection, protection and cleaning/removal is mostly automatic but also allows users to select other actions to take
+ Has added features such as a browser addons and even protection for mobile devices
    + Affordable!

    Cons:
    – The “dictionary” file used to store virus data can gobble up more than a gigabyte over time
    – False positives on clean files can happen (rarely, but it does happen)
    – Starts asking to renew at least a month before it expires with annoying pop-ups
    – Some of the bundled tools aren’t that great and could be left out

All in all, I will stick with Webroot as it has never let me down. I can only recommend it as it is one of the best antivirus suites out there.

There are many different security packages you can get these days. Most of them are capable at providing adequate protection. Webroot Premium Security is a solid security solution from a company with a good track record for security produces.

Most packages provide more solutions other than simply protection and Webroot is no different. The premium version includes protection for up to 5 devices (Windows and Mac Computers, Android and iOS devices). The annual cost is typically $79 when discounted.

Installation is fairly straightforward. There are add ons that you can purchase with this package (Carbonite backup and Identity protection). One issue I have found is with all these options, its a bit unclear which are included. It appears that Last Pass is included but its unclear which personal protection is included. Is it the Allstate protection that is offered as an option or something else. When I attempted to “learn more” in the identity protection of the portal, it took me to a site that didnt make it much clearer. I would like to see it a bit more straightforward.

The scans happened quickly and auto update of the virus signatures works well.

Overall, this is a solid product with many possible integrations. I just wish is was a bit clearer on the included services.

I am convinced that Webroot Premium Antivirus Protection + Allstate Identity Protection software suite is top-notch, and will most certainly protect against even some of the most malicious threats out there on the web. I believe that no matter how hard I search, I won’t find a product that outperforms it, at least not by much. So, let me get down to the nuts and bolts, and explain why I only gave it a four-star rating.

The Webroot antivirus protection software is available via digital download, but for the old-schoolers out there, they also offer an installation CD. The download and installation is an easy process, straightforward, and simple. In just a few short minutes the software was installed and ready to use.

Webroot, by default, runs a complete scan upon installation, and identifies any threats it finds. I need to point out that my computer already had an antivirus program installed. I say this to say that Webroot found a process threat that the other antivirus did not find. I looked up the threat via an internet search, and although it was not a seriously high threat, it did pose a moderately severe threat. Webroot was able to neutralize and remove the threat. I was feeling pretty good about Webroot so far!

At the Webroot dashboard, there were several options available.
PC Security (Realtime Shield, Web Shield, Firewall)
Privacy Protection (Privacy Shield, Phishing Shield)
    Backup
    Password Manager
Utilities (System Optimizer and System Analyzer)
    My Account
Support/Community (To get Customer Support Services, Go To Webroot Community support)

Webroot has partnered with Allstate to provide Identity Theft protection. I guess with all the scams going on out there, identity protection is almost a must. I’m wondering at what cost though.

Now this is where I am really disappointed in Webroot. A great product, and yet almost no documentation or explanation as to what these various options do, how they really work, and so on. For example, under the Backup option, it states “Protect your important files and data from loss, theft, hard drive failure and physical damage.” And then there is the “Start Now” button. So, do I or don’t I click the button? What happens? Will I start something I really don’t want to start? Being adventurous, I click on the button, and am taken to a login prompt. I though I was already logged in…now I’m pretty nervous and decide not to go any further without additional information. So back to the internet search I go.

The most frustrating part of this is that I have a TON of photos and video projects on my laptop. I have no idea where these files are supposed to go during backup, but I guess correctly that they will go to cloud storage. But I have no idea yet just how much storage I am allowed. You see, these are the questions that should be addressed up front, not in the middle of a “Start Now” process. There is almost no information provided. At least not that I was able to locate without doing a web search, or searching through the community pages. It was in the Community section that I discovered I am allowed 25 GB in the yearly subscription, which is sad. A handful of photos will eat that up in a minute. BUT, Webroot does offer additional storage for additional cost.

I absolutely love the protection offered by Webroot, but they too have went down the yearly subscription business model. From a business-for-profit standpoint, I understand this. But with so many other software companies going to this model, it can cost a fortune just to use the software you want to use.

Now again, I have to say I think Webroot is a great product. But there are too many “iffy’s” that keep it from being perfect. The lack of information, the very meager storage, yearly subscription fees, additional storage fees…these things really stand in the way.

Would I recommend this to my friends and family? Sadly, I have to say no.

There is a lot to like about Webroot Premium Protection. It’s lightweight, protects up to 10 devices and offers many useful features that often come as paid extras in other company’s offerings. Installation is easy enough, though you will need internet connection to setup a Webroot account. After installation, the program will initiate a scan of your system, which lasted about one minute on my machine. The program appears to be light enough as I have not noticed any impact to the performance of my machine, which is good because I hate disabling antivirus program whenever I want to use my machine to play graphic intensive games.

In terms of protection against computer viruses and malware, the program provides real-time protection and heuristic analysis to detect threats, which is standard protection features these days. Since my computer is clean even before installing the program, as expected Webroot found no malware or virus on my machine.

Antivirus programs these days take identity monitoring and protection seriously and Webroot gives you access to the Allstate Identity Protection, which is an app to monitor your identity against threats and identity breach on the internet and even more. App like this is very useful, though at first it may feel a bit intrusive as this particular app wants you to input your SSN. I can see the legitimate reason why such sensitive information is needed by the app, however, my experience with similar app from another company did not necessitate me to provide such information. At the end of the day, it’s your call whether or not to trust providing such information to the app. I would suggest, however, if you never provide your SSN anywhere on the internet, there is no reason to start doing so. Having said that, such sensitive information is needed to activate and gain access to other interesting features of the app, such as credit monitoring.

Webroot also gives you cloud backup of your important files and data from ‘loss, theft, hard-drive failure and physical damage’. There’s also browser extension and mobile app that you can install yourself. Also comes as standard features is internet activity monitoring, which includes firewall and Web Shield. There’s also system optimizer and secure erase for files. The system optimizer appears to include registry optimization, however, there’s no way to tweak the registry manually. Tons of features in a lightweight program so far, which is really good.

The following two features deserve special mentions: the Last Pass password manager and sandbox mode. The password manager is actually a subscription-based app that is provided for free as part of Webroot Premium protection experience. It works across devices and in terms of privacy, not even Last Pass can read your passwords. This is very useful if you use multiple platforms of devices, i.e. both Windows and Mac computers, as well as iOS and Android mobiles. Again, this comes free as part of your Webroot app experience. The other feature, which is often missing in an antivirus app these days, is the sandbox mode. This is a useful feature when you need to run a dodgy program or files without putting the security of your computer in the harm’s way.

Webroot – Premium Antivirus Protection+ Identity

Software was easy to download and install. License key worked as expected.

Installed the software in less than two minutes and then configured and ran the first scan. My computer runs just as fast as it did before I installed the software.

I have a Windows 11 2 month old laptop with an i7 processor. I am impressed with the ease of use and the customization you can do to protect yourself and the reporting and analytics built into the software is great.

I found that the install and performance to be optimal. I like how robust the system is and how intelligent the software is for watching and being proactive to protect me. I went to a couple of sites that are usually identified as being malicious and the software blocked the site before it could infiltrate my system.

I believe Webroot has stepped up to the crazy world in which we live and is assisting me instead of blocking me to work more effective and efficiently without slowing my system down.

Highly recommend the software and encourage anyone who has found other antivirus protection software to slow their system or have it become sluggish to give Webroot a try.

  8. 82jax

Webroot never ceases to amaze me with the performance difference given from the top Anti-Virus and security providers. Right away, after removing Symantec from my machine I noticed a performance difference in my MacBook. Noting the install of the latest generation of Webroot, install was fast, initial scan was done, just finished up the system cleanup and drive verification with no positives at all. The system perfomance did not change at all during or after this install. The changes to the software have kept the user interface familiar and user friendly. The Dark Web protection is great as it scans for personal information that may be readily available to a possible intruder and identifies it for cleanup. Right away, it checked my passwords and foudn some that had been in previous security breaches that needed attention. These were ones missed when working through a prior security breach where my personal information had been leaked, older accounts no longer used. There are additional add-ons provided for the software to extend your security to the web broser, Google Chrome device, and mobile devices.

Webroot is a simple lightweight antivirus/malware protection software. However, this Premium + Identity Protection just adds more to it. Basically you get an added annual premium account to LastPass and a simplified version of Allstate’s Identity Protection. The SecureAnywhere software can be used on most systems, Windows, Mac, Chrome, Android, iOS and as a browser extension on Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Compared to other AV packages I have tried, this one has been the least intrusive as far as not popping up with advertisements for other packages or reminding me I should activate something. It was just installed and started protecting.

Though it is simple, that is kind of a downfall to this package as well. Nothing seems to be well explained and even their tutorials page just gives steps on what to do but you have no idea what you are doing with it. The user interface just feels old, but it works, so I guess there’s no need to add flashy buttons, but what is it doing? Even going through the advanced settings it is just a bunch of check boxes and no real details, like adding your own rules to the firewall.

Example, the Utilities tab, you have ‘Optimize Now’ and ‘Run System Analyzer’. You have to run the analyzer first and it gives a report, but all you can do is save or close the report. So, guess you select ‘Optimize Now’ and then it runs and done. Now you are “optimized” with some amount of MB recovered. Yet, I run the analyzer again and have the similar warnings with no suggested on what to do with them.

Then setting up the extra premium features, like Allstate Identity Protection and Last Pass are just redirects to their respective sites in which I had an issue with Allstate setup not finishing for me, so I could not enable all protections till that was resolved. But, there is no real detail on what to expect from either of these. It appears that you get a premium account of LastPass, but then says 1 of 10, so I guess you can have 10 unique accounts of LastPass premium. Which is nice for a family, but then why not have a family account where you can manage and share passwords with each other?

Allstate Identity Protection, once you give it all the personal information like emails, SSN, credit card and account numbers claims it is monitoring and protecting, but does not appear to look back on anything. For example, I know for a fact one of my monitored emails has been compromised on the dark web, yet it shows as nothing detected. Literally 2 days after setting it up, I get a dark web warning from a different service I signed up for about a site leak with that same email. I’m not going to run my credit to see it that works, but I have a free service that has provided on the spot checks when that has happened before.

Then you have the Carbonite for backup but that just redirects you to their site and plans. The software says “Included with your subscription” but the account site says “You do not currently have a backup subscription”. You try the trial for 15 days and it requires you to install additional software to use it anyways and the SecureAnywhere software still thinks you need a separate Carbonite login.

Overall, if you don’t already have some identity protection set up, don’t have a good password manager, and need some simple virus protection on multiple devices, this isn’t a bad deal. For one, you are going to need Last Pass as you are going to end up creating a new account for each version of WebRoot as for some reason your Windows account won’t work on mobile and you need to set up secure passwords for everything else. I do like it being less intrusive than some of the other big brands, but it just doesn’t seem so premium when you are just sent to a website that sends you to other sites.

  10. Balboa3

I’ve used various security softwares across multiple devices and OS over the last couple of years. I have 3 young sons that are always gaming on their PCs and I want to make sure they are secure. I was excited to jump at the chance to use this Webroot software. I know they are a trusted company in this area for many, many years. My experience was good, but parts felt lacking.

Let me start with where I decided to use this software. To begin with we have a few gaming PCs that we installed this on, all of them using Windows 11. We also installed it on some smartphones, tablets, and a Chromebook. The installation process is pretty straightforward. Install the app, login to said app and it walks you through the initial scanning and setup. I love that it is able to secure just about every device that we use. Again, I’ve had experiences using Webroot for a long time now, so I trust them to keep my systems running safely.

Aside from scanning and protecting your systems, you also get an Allstate Identity Protection. I have a couple of other companies that include this in their products so I really didn’t need it. I went ahead and setup the Allstate proctection, which was failry simple as well, and it gives you an initial check of how your ID is showing up online. It’s definitely nice to have, and great that this software package includes it.

One nice surprise is that you also get a LastPass subscription to keep all of your passwords secure. This allows you to use LastPass across most platforms, PC/Mac, mobile, etc. LastPass is a secure password manager, and once you set it up you don’t have to worry about remembering passwords for all of your various accounts. It’s a nice piece of mind once you start using it.

The only thing that I felt was lacking is the UI. The interface is very bare bones, both it’s web portal, and apps you download. Again, I’ve used various security software over the years, and this one is probably just as secure, but it’s interface is behind most. Would be nice if the desktop app let you monitor all of your devices being protected, including mobile, and Chromebooks..

It’s a great security software, and the inclusion of LastPass, and the Allstate Idenity Protection is great at rounding out your security needs. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to protect their devices. The only minor nitpick would be in the UI. I wish it was more robust, and gave you the ability to monitor all of your devices in one spot.

This Webroot Premium with Allstate Identity Protection, is built to protect you and up to 10 of your devices for 1 year. Included in this premium suite of protection services are: A complete antivirus solution, proactive alerts via email or text, dark web protection, Social Security Number monitoring, full-service identification restoration services, and up to $500,000 in fraud expense reimbursement. The identity protection service by Allstate is very comprehensive. It includes financial monitoring, credit and debit card monitoring, drivers license monitoring, address monitoring, email address monitoring, birthdate and social security number monitoring, credit reporting and protection. The dark web protection and monitoring is essential for everyone. It also includes LastPass, which is a password bank that you can either enter into the application or import into the application from various sources, like internet browsers, other password banks, or a list. It was very easy to install and setup. It was also easy to view my credit score, get ideas and ways to improve my score and protect my credit. All-in-all, this is a great security suite that not only protects your devices, but protects your identity too. It’s a must have, especially in today’s society. I highly recommend!

  12. BarbM

Installation needs to be done in a particular order. Setup is a headache, the program is not intuitive about how to fix problems when I’m alerted to them and I’m waiting for Allstate to let me know why I’m getting an error message when trying to setup my account for monitoring.
It’s not all bad, it just hasn’t been all good yet either.
    The good:
Anti-Virus monitoring is done as scheduled and a report is available.
Last Pass**** makes saving passwords convenient and works on multiple devices. It’s a simple click to save each time you sign in somewhere.
    Getting contact info is easy.
Up to 10 devices for one year.

    The bad:
    Not intuitive.
Once initially downloaded, there are variations of the product for different purposes. The product descriptions could be confusing for some. The utilities give a report, but there is no detail or solution given for any problems that show up. Last Pass**** allows you to bring in previous saved passwords to save time, however, if it detects a problem with some of the passwords in the list, it doesn’t give any remedy to solve the problem.
Last Pass**** does the same thing Google does. Seems redundant on a PC.
Allstate monitoring with ID protection would be worth the price of this IF I could finish the setup to have my information monitored. For some reason it has not yet allowed me to save my info. I have, after trying multiple times with no success, contacted the company about the problem and hope they can figure out the problem. Luckily for me, I have monitoring through other accounts so I’m not unprotected while waiting.
I’m giving it 3 stars, because it’s better than no protection. However. my experience with other products that give the same protection has been much easier, with less headaches and more solutions.

  13. nhtechie

I’ve used a number of Anti Virus programs over the years; some free, some not. In this case, I’m reviewing a copy of the software that I was provided at no out-of-pocket cost from Best Buy, like the other members of the Tech Insider Network.

TL;DR for my frequent readers and details below.

    Good:
Account creation download process was easy to complete
    Easy Install
    Not terribly CPU taxing

    Meh:
A slight overhead (slower RDP responses)

    Bad:
User Interface is simple yet confusing
    Taskbar Indicator
‘Help’ from within a section, doesn’t bring you to that help page on their website
    LastPass Password Manager

I was able to create my Webroot account, verify my email & download the software with no trouble. Installing the software was simple and was done in what seemed to be less than a minute; in case it matters, I used an older Dell Micro PC with an i5 / 8GB / 256GB.

Webroot’s SecureAnywhere has lots of features, from Secure Erase (a recycle bin add-on that covers its tracks with up to 7 erase passes on your deleted files), an Optimizer (to clean up the unnecessary things that may be slowing down your PC), Virus scan scheduling and even some Anti-Malware features to possibly help get you out of a pickle.

Scanning is simple, however ‘resolving’ issues that the software picks up isn’t as straightforward as other software on the market. After my initial scan, I must have skipped the clean now box & had no way to ‘clean’ what it found, until I ran another scan and then it could execute the clean (see photos). If you go to the “Status” page, you can’t kick off a scan; it really is, just “status.”

When you’re exploring the menus, there’s a ‘Learn More’ button for Help which brings you to Webroot’s website. A big downside to this, is that it doesn’t bring you to what you wanted to learn more about, but dumps you to a general support page. While I get that websites are dynamic, static starting pages per section isn’t a tough thing to do and should be considered here.

Finally, LastPass – an utter disaster with so many security breaches I had to cancel my subscription. Fast-forward to the “Password Manager” section of Webroot, where it brings me to the support page and I find out that “LastPass” is included in the subscription. No thanks.

Overall, scans of about 40,000 files takes a little over 2 minutes & doesn’t hog the CPU (40-50% spike at times) and leaves this 6th Gen i5 in good shape to be worked on even during the scan.

Overall, I’d say the software is a 3 because of LastPass, the bad “Help” web page interaction and how you can’t say “disabling the firewall is a choice, don’t give me the yellow exclamation point.”

Recommended? For the retail price: no. On sale: sure, if you aren’t a stickler for a friendly user interface.

  14. dharr18

This gives you a little bit of everything and does it all pretty well.

    – Antivirus
    – Webshield
    – Firewall
    – VPN (purchase separately)
    – Identity protection (Allstate)
    – Privacy protection (trojans, phishing, etc.)
    – Backups (Carbonite)
    – Password protection (LastPass)
    – System analyzer/optimizer
    – Chromebook protection

The community support and general support pages are pretty well done and easy to find what you are looking for.

One of the issues I ran into with the web shield, some web pages I visit regularly would not load completely. These are all known safe sites, but they were hamstrung. After disabling the extension, I no longer had any issues with the web pages.

One other issue after initial install, the system became laggy immediately after install. Within about 30 minutes it regulated and I have not had any issues since. Give it time to run what I assume is the initial diagnostics on the system.

Management of the firewall and virus scanner is pretty straightforward. The interface is well designed after you get use to it. Some other suites I have used you could tell that it was pieced together and was not a smooth consistent experience. Webroot has taken the time to make sure there is consistency in the management of the different pieces.

Overall I am very happy with the product. Outside of the web extension being slightly flaky and the VPN being a paid add on, the tool does its job well. Just a reminder, the first 30 minutes after install I did have a laggy system. I contemplated uninstalling but let it run through its paces and have been happy since.

  15. ScubaSteve

This software does a good job of providing the basic security features that most people need. It uses minimal system resources and security scans are fast. It does not include a firewall and relies on Microsoft’s built-in Defender software for firewall protection. The PC interface is clean and easy to navigate. The mobile application is basic and includes a Secure Browser feature, protection for a Chrome browser only and a Scan Option. You cannot configure and remove features such as if your not using Chrome and the Password Manager option cannot be hidden. When you log in to your online account it gets really confusion. You have options for all kinds of features whether you want them or not. These include Carbonite back-up, an Identity Production additional add-on and Password Manager through Last Pass. I really only want Internet Security and you cannot hide seeing all of these other additional features. The security features can be set and forgot to run in the background and I feel it gives adequate protection. However, I do not like the fact that I continually get forced all the additional up sale features that I do not want. I especially wish they remove the LastPass backup feature and make it optional since it has had several breaches recently and is it not recommended by many reputable security analyst.

You take the coat out of the box and you install it on your computer. Nice and simple. Gone are the days of disk drives and now is the day of websites and codes. Which I have no problem with. It makes things easy to access things easy to download and just that much easier to navigate. I’ve had web root before and I wasn’t disappointed then. Just been a while since I felt like I’ve needed protection. As an IT. Major security is everything. I work across various networks for various third parties and security is all I need to not be worrying about why I’m trying to complete a project. But I do need to be mindful of the rules and be mindful not to get penetrated or hacked. Webroot has always been an active scanning security system. Meaning it will detect things that are not supposed to be there all by itself. It makes for an amazing system that gets the job done from top to bottom. I highly recommend this to any and everybody from the don’t know. No better novice to the highly intelligible computer user. When you need security and you need the best you need this.

So reviewing antimalware is a drag because installing and uninstalling is a drag. I have a belief that a lot of virus and malware protection is a big drag on your system. That’s also a drag.

Well, Webroot Premium is a pretty fast package. Scans were fast, monitoring and bootup were fast, and install was lightning fast. I have tried quite a few packages and this is definitely one of the fastest I’ve tried.

When you have fast antivirus, you sometimes wonder if it’s working. I think that the browser protection definitely is working because it did block a few sites as possibly malicious. You can’t be too careful!

One of the better features of this package is the Allstate Identity Protection. You get the service for a year and it makes sure you are notified of identity theft and if it happens, they help you out. I thought it was a very easy to use service. it didn’t take long to set up, and since it’s run on the Webroot/Allstate servers, it’s always working for you. I didn’t encounter any theft while I was using it, but the interface on the site was pretty good.

That’s my only issue with this software. It’s kind of ugly. I guess if you’re interfacing with the software often, you’re in a bit of trouble in terms of viruses and malware, but I think it should probably get a little facelift.

I recommend this package because of its light touch on your system and fairly reasonable price!

    Pro:
    -Light on the system
    -Operates silently in the background

    Con:
    -Outdated UI
    -All features needs different accounts

In summary, the antivirus part is good. It’s light on the system and operates stealthily in the background. I don’t even notice it running most of the time. There’s no constant pop ups for updates, promotions, or installing add ons. However, that’s all I can praise it for. The user experience is worse than other security suites I’ve used, and I’ve used plenty. The UI is outdated and not clearly explained, but it works. The components are all separated and they all are operated by different accounts, which just makes it confusing to use.

The PC Security part of the suite offers the protective features you would expect from a security suite. The UI is dated, like a webpage from the early 2000’s, and is small on a 4K monitor. It takes more steps to navigate and trying to do some things is a bit confusing. It’s tabs within multiple menus. For instance, to allow a process for the firewall, you have to manually choose a file (process) under the Allow/Block files tab in the Security menu, rather than having a list of blocked processes or allow/block programs.

The Backup feature was confusing and didn’t recognize my subscription. You either need to sign in with Webroot Backup and Sync or through a Carbonite account. Mine was a Carbonite account when I installed Webroot, so it directed me to download the Carbonite Backup app. It gave me a 15 day trial even though it’s supposed to be included with my premium subscription.

The Identity Protection is handled by Allstate, which again is its own account and login. After registering, you can input your personal information and have it monitor your credits and financial transactions, dark web, and reduce solicitations. How much they monitor depends on how much of your personal info you’re willing to give it. The last option, solicitation reductions, just give links to other websites to manually remove your information.

Password Manager is through LastPass, another account to manage. I didn’t want to set up another account to test it, so I never used their services.

There’s also System Optimizer which can monitor possible hardware or software issues. It scanned my system pretty fast, but no issues were found.

The support also didn’t impress me from what I saw. It’s just an automated message with links and tells you to contact the other company directly.

What is offered here isn’t necessarily bad and it’s cheaper, but others do it better. The only thing you get with the Webroot installation is the system protection. That part is fine, and I like that it’s not intrusive. So if all you need is a light protection suite, then maybe just get that. All the other components are handled by too many different parties, each with their own account.

Webroot – Premium Antivirus Protection + Identity Protection is a great option. I have had the opportunity to use several anti-virus products over the years and I can tell you that some are most assuredly better than others. This is one of my favorites.

What do I like about it? It’s very lightweight. When I say lightweight, I do not mean light in performance. I mean light in resource use and in “hidden” apps and extensions that take additional resources and negatively impact other programs and apps.

One of the interesting things I’ve learned about the Webroot antivirus, they (by design) engineer their program to “play well with others”… Almost every other antivirus I have ever used, stopped halfway thru installation and said (I paraphrase) “Oooppss, there are other antivirus programs detected. Would you like us to remove them?” Webroot did not do that. While it detects Norton 360, it went ahead and thought “OK, cool, we will play with this program no problem”…

Well, once I installed this on my main pc, I lost internet access. I uninstalled it, and the internet came back. Tried 3 times, and lather, rinse, repeat. Tried on my secondary pc and same deal. I was lucky enough to be assigned a great Tier III marketing technical engineer from WR and after some troubleshooting, he determined that Norton 360 and Webroot did NOT play together. We removed my obsolete Norton and viola… All is well. I did the same on my second pc and again, the issue was resolved. I generally do NOT mention other products in my review, but I wanted to include that here in case others may experience it. Simple fix but it did take some time. Hopefully, this tip will help others.

End of the day I am NOT placing blame on either product, it is just doing what antivirus products do.

As it stands right now, this is one of my favorites. It does what it’s supposed to do and it does it well. It does it very thoroughly, efficiently, quickly and with little resource use.

Great choice if you are in the market.

I recently ventured into the world of Chrome OS, moving from iOS and Android as my primary mode of work flow. I have not used any anti-virus protection, thinking that Chrome OS has been relatively safe from the dangers of the internet. So I cam across Webroot – Permium Anti-virus Protection with so many options of installment, including Android, Mac-OS, iOS, and now Chrome. The product code was very long and reassuring for me, knowing that it reminds me of how other programs requires such a large keycode to ensure maximum protection. This keycode was also very valuable as you do the set up and logging in portion,

The initial installation proved to be a an annoyance as I was having trouble with logging in after set up. Once that was all fixed and I was able to access this program, I was amazed that it can be used concurrently while online. Like it’s iOS and Android versions that I am used to, this works well for my Chrome device in protecting from Malware, Password fraud, phishing, and especially being targeted to fake applications. I did not realize that Chromebooks were susceptible to these issues.

Some issues that I’ve noticed that when using Webroot as a Chrome browser, some of my websites do not appear to be like the full desktop site. Instead, it is like the concerns using app based programs on Chrome is that they are not fully optimized for the screen. Looking at the screen, you have the option of using it in phone or tablet mode, thus limiting the size of your screen. There is a Re-sizable tab so then it is able to go full screen, but the sites are the mobile versions.

Now using it on an iPad is a completely different experience. It is set up to work while you are on the iOS internet app. Scanning is effortless and very fast in my experience. The Password Manager section is part of the subscription and allows creation and managing all of those passwords. iOS already does a great job in maintaining this, better than Android.

Overall, really happy with Webroot and how it can cover multiple different operating systems.

As a user of Webroot products for the past 5+ years, I was excited to receive a free copy of the latest version of Webroot Premium Antivirus with Identity Protection for review. In the past I have had zero issues with Webroot’s Antivirus Protection and looked forward to testing this edition out. The Webroot Premium software providees a complete solution to protect your electronics and identity.

This new version of Webroot Antivirus with Identity Protection from Allstate includes coverage for up to 5 computers, laptops, smartphones, Chromebooks, and laptops. The software provides Identity Protection with up to $500,000. in fraud expense reimbursement, up to $50,000 in stolen funds coverage, Dark Web monitoring, Social Security trace, Financial Monitoring with proactive alerts, Identity Monitoring with identity health status updates, Credi Bureau monitoring (1 bureau), 24×7 U.S. based Customer Support with Full Service Remediation all at a very reasonable price for one year coverage.

Of all the antivirus and identity coverage solutions available in today’s market, I highly recommend this one for the complete solution it provides.

Webroot – Premium Antivirus Protection + Identify Protection is a all in one Internet and Virus protection suite that is designed to protect your pc or mac. Installation is simple once you create an account on the Webroot site and enter your information from the email you will receive to register your account. Login to the site with your email address and password you created and you will see the link to download the setup file.

Click on the setup file and follow the prompts to complete the installation. Once the installation completes, the antivirus will run a scan your machine . The Webroot Console is pretty basic with a lot of the options are hidden from view. Its designed to set and forget solution.

Now for the not so nice features. Every time you need to make a configuration change, whether it be a custom scan, system optimizer or enable additional features, you will get a prompt enter in a random generated code. Got to be honest, it will get old very quick.

Overall, Webroot is pretty basic and doesn’t allow for a lot of control on what gets set without nagging for a code every time.

The installation and setup of webroot was simple and pretty much in line with all other antivirus type products I’ve installed. After installing webroot and opening it up, the first thing you’ll notice is that the interface is outdated. While its not really the interface that makes an antivirus work, its still nice to have on that it looks like it belons in windows 10/11 and not in windows 95. The other thing that I noticed is that there is no VPN. The last few antivirus software tools I’ve used all had built in VPN.

Besides those negatives, and after installing and getting things setup, I’ve not really had issues. Most the time you really don’t want to see the antivirus software as it runs in the background. I didn’t do any test or try and get it to give me a warning, just doing my normal stuff which usually doesn’t prompt security risks on my computer.

You also get Allstate Identity protection from the online account, which I signed up for and setup. Its pretty simple setup compared to others, but not sure how much it checks. Other tools I’ve used give me a lot more warning, though usually minor, but I didn’t see much here. So it might be looking for the really bad ones which is good.

Overall, from my experience I feel there are better tools out there, but webroot works for what it should work for so if it’s the most cost effective option for you then it is a decent too.

Great protection! My computer runs better when I scan my system with Webroot!

Virus protection and more is what Webroot – Premium Antivirus Protection + Identity Protection is all about. There are versions for Android, Apple iOS, Mac OS, Windows, Chrome OS. The interface is much like others, and you can access many of the functions from the main panel, with menu options along the right side of the application interface. On a Windows PC the program installed really quick and I was ready to go in no time once I created an account online (more on this later). The real-time protection seems to perform well, with no perceptible performance hit, although my PC seemed to start up and get to a login screen more slowly than I recall. I did not try to reinstall, but believe it added about 10-15 seconds to the point of a responsive desktop. The Online Threat protection included browser plugins which seemed to operate well. The Windows suite also installs a Password Manager, System Optimizer and System Analyzer which check system health. If made some recommendations after a scan in tree categories: Hardware, Software and Threats. Generally, I had a good experience with the PC version.
Now the negative, I entered my activation code during my account setup and received the standard “confirm your account setup” email. All good, as I wanted to install the iOS version on my phone, downloaded that from the App store and installed it. During the installation process the app wanted me to login to my account, two options appeared. 1. For the initial account setup with activation key and another 2. option for existing to login to existing activated to validate your license. STOP, hard stop – whatever I did, could not login (and I saved my credentials in my password manager) nothing, password reset email request seemed to never come, checked my junk mail, no reset email. Waited and waited for the email, never came. Tried this again the next day to activate the Chrome version for my Chromebook, no luck. Again, password resets emails were never received, checked every email folder and spam folders manually, never to be found.
So, hard stop – Windows version of this software seemed fine, but something has gone awry and essentially will prevent me from further using this software.

Technician Arif was excellent. He was patient, clearly spoken, and diplomatic. He took control of the installation process and provided advice on its future application to multiple devices. He was very positive and calming about the printing problems I was having and fixed them immediately. He was thorough, expanding the services requested to all on-going issues we were having.
