    Excellent radar. It is on the expensive side, but worth every penny! Long long very long range. If you buy the R8 app the usage becomes even better!!

    To be honest the fact that it has long range is kind of a nuisance unless you live literally in the country. Otherwise it’s just false alerts after false alerts because of the sensitivity. Drove 2k miles with it and am going back to the escort 360c mkii because of the fact that it has users constantly uploading and the clarity of the UI on the radar detector itself is easier to understand. The uniden did its just, but I’d say it was definitely more of a hassle to filter than escort.

    Highly reccomend this radar detcetor. Coming from an Escort Max 360 I’ve been blown away with the range. The filtering isnt quite as good as escort, but when paired with the Highway Radar app on an android phone that has a proper profile installed with more blind spot monitoring syster filters applied its amazing. (Check the forums for profiles)

    I’ve never owned a Radar Detector before, and this one was top of the line. I was skeptical at first on how good it works but I really underestimated it. If you’re buying this specifically for police, it only rings if their radar is on obviously, that being said, it’s very helpful if a police officer/trooper is on the side of the road or hiding waiting to give out tickets. It’ll tell you about .5 of a mile to 1 mile before you reach the cop, give or take. Overall, perfect device for it’s price.

    One of the best radar detectors you can buy. It detects cops from at least 2 miles away. And some instances I have even detected a signal from 3 miles away. It has arrows for both front back and the sides and if you’re download the app you will get very less falses, I love this this is amazing worth all the money. I have had escort and other brands, but nobody comes closer to this.

    I was a little hesitant to spend the money… but am so glad that I did. The speeding tickets I avoided in the first month alone made it worth the price.

    The range on this thing is unbelievable. I won’t drive anywhere without my R8.

    Upgraded from the R3. I wouldn’t have believed this one was better till I hit a country road and it warned me. The trooper was over 2 miles away with twists and turns coming opposite direction. I haven’t touched any settings and the auto detect of vehicles and weird local annoyances are mostly gone from the R3. The Chrysler Vans are still a fake beep. But I hear that’s just a setting to drone out.
    Best purchase for anyone wanting the feeling of truly knowing what’s around the corner or past the next hill.

    I really like it. It does everything I needed to do that. My biggest complaint which Isn’t that big of a deal but it bugs me. Is that the user manual does not fit in the carrying case that they give you. Like I said not that big of a deal. Somewhat tricky to update it. Just had to watch a couple YouTube videos.

    I’m totally happy with the R8. I am very familiar with the UNIDEN radar because I also have an R3. This time I wanted the top of the line and it is earning every dollar I spent on it. Yes it’s very crazy expensive but I’m a radar type of driver.

    This ended up being exactly what I wanted and has worked flawlessly for me. I actually try not to speed that much and mostly wanted it for highway/interstate since I take a lot of backroads to help remind me to slow down before I get a ticket (I take a lot of back roads with frequent turns and speed changes). Every speeding ticket I’ve gotten is in a transition zone I didn’t notice and this has already helped me avoid at least 1 or 2 tickets in the month I’ve owned it! I’ve also noticed that on the highway it seems like it picks up radars from a mile or two away. The auto mute function is very handy in the city too. Overall I would highly recommend it to anyone if you don’t mind the cost!

    Having owned the R3 and the R7 the R8 adds more distance and better lockout learning capabilities and false alerts. Paired with the app this makes for the total package. R8 companion on ios allows you make quick programming in the expert mode. The R8 allows you to fine tune your detector to limit more false alerts by reducing the sensitivity of the rear antenna.

    Uniden R8 I have had it for a month, it really helps me a lot, it has a speedometer with GPS, the laser detects most of the infrared cameras at traffic lights. and it is good for detecting cops, well it has several functions. I’m about to update it with the application that only exists in the App store. The first reason I bought it is because my car’s speedometer stopped working and with this I now maintain the correct speed on streets and highways.

    Excellent detector. Does a good job of weeding out the junk and detects radar signals from a good distance away. Highly customizable for your driving habits/area. I was able to purchase an aftermarket Cable to wire it into my review mirror for a very clean installation.

    Radar detectors today are expensive ($700)and so I rate the value as “ fair”. I did like how the iPhone app is simple in bare bones. The radar detector seems to be effective in detecting, K and Ka band signals. I had to switch off the K band because I was getting redundant alarms. I like how the kit includes two suction cups, but I wish both suction cups were the same large size. I’ve also owned the escort Max 360 and I’m questioning whether that one may have been better.

    This was my first radar detector purchase, and I’m happy to report that it did its job and saved my behind from a ticket in Tennessee!

    The price point is higher than most dash units out there, but the OLED display and the direction indicating arrows make it totally worth it! Basically takes the guesswork out of where the signal is coming from.

    Also, only had a couple instances where it picked up someone’s blind spot or adaptive cruise control radar in about an 1800 mile road trip.

    Radar is amazing. Bought on sale. Picks up KA band from a greater distance than a cheaper model. Well worth the extra money. Display is very nice.
    You can change the settings how you want, you can mute the constant K bands if it doesn’t auto mute them 1st. Love the direction arrows especially when its coming from behind. I previously had a Radenso before and i really loved it but the uniden is better with the direction arrows. Downside…Bigger and more bulky.

    Saved us more than once. Loaded with great features. Well worth the price! I have found this to be a great radar detector. It remembers and mutes door alarms that used to drive me nuts. That said it still picks up backup and lane radars on newer cars. I don’t have any experience with speed or red light cameras. The unit is larger than I am used to so concealment is harder. That said I would definitely recommend this unit!
