This is a small, usb wifi adapter which worked great in my testing. I installed it on a Windows 7 machine using the included driver disk without any problems.

If you need extra long range or extra high speeds, there are other more expensive adapters which will suit your needs better – but for a small simple stick, this does the job.

this wireless adapter has a strong signal especially when your connected to AC 5g network and it really makes a difference when watching videos .

  3. JAZtheman

Good for the price. Inexpensive and easy to carry with you.

  4. snowflake

We purchased this because the WiFi on my laptop burned out and we did not want to purchase a new laptop at this time. It works perfectly and just what we needed.

Archer T4U V2 AC1300 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter

    *My Test Setup
    Desktop PC
    Windows 10 Pro
    USB 3.0 Port

    *Wired & Wireless Performance
I tested the Archer T4U V2 plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my desktop computer. I ran several speed tests with the adapter plugged in the USB 3.0 port by itself, and while using the included USB 3.0 extension cable. The extension cable had no effect at all on performance. Speed tests were the same with or without.

My Internet Plan: Download 75 Mbps / Upload 10 Mbps

2.4 GHz Speed Test: Download 78.51 Mbps / Upload 12.12 Mbps

5 GHz Speed Test: Download 90.37 Mbps / Upload 12.16 Mbps.

As you can see, those are great results. However, I have experienced an occasional brief loss of connection while streaming HD content, but for the most part, it has performed decently.

Note: When you first plug in the adapter, Windows will install its own generic driver. Before I installed the latest driver from TP-Link’s website, I was getting terrible results on the 5 GHz band. After installing the latest driver from TP-Link, the adapter performs much better. So for the absolute best performance, you MUST install the latest driver from TP-Link’s website.

    *My Thoughts
The adapter offers decent performance, especially after the driver update. I do have concerns about it’s build quality, though. It’s made of plastic and doesn’t feel very durable in hand. As long as you aren’t frequently plugging it in and unplugging it, it should be fine. It would have been nice if TP-Link would have made it out of metal, or at least a harder plastic. I have USB thumb drives that feel better made than this. Also, it’s too bulky to use in a USB port by itself when neighboring USB port(s) are occupied. Thankfully TP-Link includes an extension cable to remedy this. And some may find the bright, flashing green LED to be a distraction, especially in a dark room. Other than those few concerns, it’s inexpensive and performs decently.

First off I like the fact that this is a slim and sleek design. Overall I think this device does provide some value and I’ve actually used it less for laptop use as opposed to a home server I have that doesn’t have wifi built in to the PC. As most laptops have dual band wifi these days you may not need a device like this unless your pc has an older wifi module. However if you don’t, this could be for you. Overall it performed as expected given the speeds.

I tested this wireless adapter on a Lenovo ThinkPad 460s using the USB 3.0 port (SS) using whatever the default Windows 10 driver is. The Adapter came with a CDROM, but my laptop doesn’t have a CD drive, so I didn’t test with the TP-Link drivers, which may be why my bandwidth is slow.

I did try testing with two different routers (cheap vs expensive) though, to see if that made a difference:

    Connected to TP-Link Archer C59:
10 ft away: 95Mbps/6Mbps with my Lenovo built-in wireless, and got 63Mbps/6Mbps with the T4U wireless adapter.
35 ft away (line of sight): 95Mbps/6Mbps with Lenovo built-in wireless, and 56Mbps/6Mbps with the T4U wireless adapter.
farthest away (2 stories): 95Mbps/6Mbps with Lenovo built-in wireless, and 10Mbps down, could not connect for upload speed.

    Connected to TP-Link Archer A2300:
5 ft away: 122Mbps/6Mbps with my Lenovo built-in wireless, and got 80Mbps/6Mbps with the T4U wireless adapter.
10 ft away: 122Mbps/6Mbps with my Lenovo built-in wireless, and got 72Mbps/5.5Mbps with the T4U wireless adapter.
35 ft away (line of sight): 122Mbps/6Mbps with Lenovo built-in wireless, and 38Mbps/6Mbps with the T4U wireless adapter.
    farthest away (2 stories):120Mbps/6Mbps with Lenovo built-in wireless, and 32Mbps down/ 5.5 up.

I would recommend this product for connecting a desktop if you needed to, with the caveat that this wireless dongle doesn’t perform as well as laptop wireless connection with better antennas.

Greetings, I’ve had the opportunity to test a great USB adapter from TP-Link. This small USB Adapter worked smoothly connected to my windows laptop. In conducting my test, I disabled my internal WiFi card to test. I am happy to say it works great. Today, technology has come a long way to where most devices are already equipped for WiFi. But if you computer, device, or game console isn’t. This is a great fit.

  9. GMAN

Can’t go wrong with this product when considering its price. Delivers exactly what it was promised to do. Great for home use and it doesn’t break your bank.

  10. Johnny

This is a very compact little device that does its job, excellent value at its price.
Simply plug it in, let the driver do its thing, and connect to WIFI.
After installation, I did not experience any issues/lags/breaks streaming HD video and doing other internet activities.
It’s great when the devices just work…

Love this WiFi adapter. I didn’t have a wireless card in my old Mac Pro. This gets great signal.

  12. Kale

I currently have Xfinity Internet Services and I was originally only receiving 10mbps worth of speeds. With this adapter though, I am getting 100mbps+ speeds. It has a really easy setup, which is plug-in, install driver, and go.

  13. Floyd

Strong signal acquisition in a closed garage since I use it when I am working

  14. Jabrauser

Very fast and strong signal. Never losesx connectivity and runs through usb 3. Great item!

  15. cirtemid

I use this at my job to gain Internet access for a PC that runs a National Instruments PXI system. This adapter has proven an excellent buy. We use it in the USB 3.0 ports on the PC, and it has done wonderfully. We get Internet access with very little lag. My only issue is the size of this thing. Well, considering its capabilities and performance, this is not really something to complain about, but you may have to do peripheral and cable management to work around it. Still, it performs excellently. The setup was easy, although there is a disk involved, which may be an issue for people without a CD drive. You can download the drivers online, however. All in all, I recommend this product.

  16. Kevin

Easy installation with very little time needed. My Mac is located one floor above where the router is located (opposite ends of the house) but I see full bars on Wifi status. I see no difference in browsing speed between my mac using this device and other wirelessly connected devices (tablet, laptops, and phones). It is a bit bigger than what I expected especially when the antenna portion is in open position (L-shape), but no more than normal USB flash drive of about 2 inches long. I recommend this unit.

  17. nemestrinus

Good value, works right out of the box on Windows. Dual band, no complaints.

  18. Gakie

Needed to convert my desktop into wireless, works great

  19. Samiwary77

I bought this to use on my desktop computer it works very well. Very easy setup.

  20. Jim1

I got blazing fast speeds on both 2.4G and 5G for over one day. Then I unplugged it to try another adapter, and then I plugged it back in. It never worked after that. As a retired engineer, I tried reinstalling and everything I could think of, but it never got well.

  21. bigd

Just got recently and increased speed on m old laptop from 180 to 585. still need to test everywhere in the house.

  22. bacl

Arrived quickly. Works great to replace what broke

  23. Mike

I needed 5g and this device really worked out great for my family. It was easy to install and my computer has a great 5g signal.

  24. polarbear

Purchased this for a client who brought her desktop home, but didn’t have easy access to wired ethernet. She reported that this was easy to setup, and allowed her to move her desktop to a more convenient location.

  25. barlums

Just like the rest of TP-Link’s products, it works great. Using it on a file server tucked away in a corner. No complaints on file transfer speeds or reliability… it just works.

  26. SPIN

It is exactly what we needed when and works wonderfully!

  27. bill

this item was quick and easy to install and it works great

  28. USBWiFi

Easy to use and decent speed as well. Was to update my desktop pc which hadn’t been used in awhile.Windows 7.

  29. Lisa

Arrived timely and works exactly as stated and as it should.

  30. chinkitkit

Easy to use, just follow exactly what the manual said, to install the WIFI adapter on your laptop or desktop.

    Good WIFI adapter afterall.

  31. lightningdome

This adapter has given me a much stronger signal from the router . For the cost it is well worth the investment .

  32. GWillyBJunior

    Plug-and-Play with minimal installation.
I would have given it only 3 stars because of my initial frustration: It kept randomly dropping its WiFi connection with my router – only 7 feet across an open room. When I did get it to connect by using the Troubleshooter, the signal was strong and the Down/Up speeds were excellent – better than advertised by my ISP.
I’m giving it 5 stars because TP-Link issued a new driver a week after I bought it and it hasn’t dropped the router connection since. The WiFi signal is stronger. The Down/Up speeds are a tick higher.

  33. PerryK

Installed on a Desktop Computer that was located at the far end of the house from the router, where running a Interent cable was not feasible. Inserted into back USB port, installed driver from CD, and received and configured Wi-fi signals without any issues.

  34. Hayden

What i like is that its picks up my wifi signal way better then the other usb wifi adapter I had before and its very easy to set up, plug in, install i drivers from disc and change your wifi user thing to the adapter and boom you can use it. But the only bad thing about it is that its wide so it takes up a usb socket but for me its worth the sacrifice. Woulf recomand this if you dont want to spend that much for a usb wifi adapter.

  35. userDC

Excellent for connecting to the networt and is very useful for desktops.

  36. AnissaD

Unfortunately this just didn’t work with my version of MacOS. The drivers are all outdated. Also it only works for laptops and I wanted to use it on a Smart TV. That part is my bad for assuming it would work for that purpose.

  37. FrancisG

Keeps a steady wi-fi connection. Seems to stay connected.

  38. EricA

Fast and excellent connectivity. Great product to have

  39. ScauldinBeats

Purchased for my 13900k hackintosh. Works perfectly!
