First thing- if you are on a Playstation and the LED above the PS button is anything but blue, press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds until the LED begins to flash, then while still holding the mode button press and release the right directional button until the LED cycles to blue. You can use the same procedure to switch it to green if you’re on a PC. Once that’s done your console will recognize the wheel and you’re off to the races!
My first impression of the T128 is that it’s on the small side, both the wheel and the pedals. I’m not sure that’s a bad thing, I like using it better than a controller and it doesn’t take up much space. The smaller size of the wheel keeps most all of the buttons in reach of your thumbs. That said, I tried it on Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, Dakar 18, NFS, Mudrunner, and Dirt 4 and 5. The wheel works great on everything I tried except the two Dirt games. They are listed as being compatible but in just those two games the wheel would lock up and refuse to turn anywhere left of center. I contacted Thrustmaster’s support and so far we’re not able to get it working. The wheel works fine on every other game so I think it’s a game issue with Dirt not a problem with the wheel.
I found the wheel to be responsive and maybe even a little too powerful on the force feedback, I had to adjust the FFB strength down quite a bit to suit my preferences. The pedal are quite smooth and while I would like a firmer brake pedal, the throttle tension is spot on for me. I like that the pedals use magnetic sensors instead of potentiometers so they should retain accuracy over time. I also like that they included two holes in the pedal base for mounting, I attach my pedals to a piece of 3/4” plywood, then attach a 2×6 vertically and another piece of 3/4” ply on top to clamp the steering wheel. I size it to fit me while seated so everything is a comfortable reach. I like having the pedals attached so they don’t slide away at an inopportune time. The clamp on the wheel feels sturdy and keeps the wheel in place with no problem.
I miss not having a clutch pedal but since there’s no stick shift lever either it’s not an issue. The included butterfly shifter changes gears smoothly so you can rip through a sequential gearbox with ease.
This wheel appears to have about 900 degrees of rotation lock to lock, you’ll make use of pretty much all of that in Mudrunner as you maneuver a lumbering log truck. The race cars in other games don’t need such travel.
I think the T128 is a good entry level steering wheel and it gets the job done without breaking the bank.

When it comes to racing games, every millisecond counts. You want anything to give you an advantage. Also, as racing games become closer and closer to real driving, you want anything that gives you the feel of actually driving the car. With the Thrustmaster T128, you get this feel and so much more.

Looking at the system out of the box, it is solid enough. I wouldn’t drop it or bang it off walls, but the plastic design is solid enough for your racing needs. The system comes complete with a two pedal foot controller and racing wheel with paddle shifters. The system needs power so you will need a setup that has an outlet close by. Additionally, the wheel will need to be somewhat close to the gaming console to connect via USB.

Getting started on a PlayStation system takes a bit of work. Since the T128 system is ready to go on the PC, you will need to place it in the PS mode. The instructions aren’t very clear on this, and you will likely have to look up how to do it online. It involves holding down the MODE button and waiting and then pressing other buttons while not letting go of the MODE button. It is just a little confusing. It would be so much easier if there was just a switch on the wheel to take you from one mode to the other. Fortunately, you likely will only have to do this once.

One more part of the setup, you will likely need to have a racing chair or at least some type of desk to mount the wheel to. The wheel needs a few inches of clearance on the bottom as well to grab on to. Otherwise, the wheel may move around while playing.

Once you get set up, you are ready to go. When you power on the wheel, it will go through a brief calibration to get everything centered. Then you are ready to go. There and basic PS type buttons on the controller as well as a direction pad. You can use this one the PS to navigate to select games or menus in game.

Moving up from a controller steering to the T128 is amazing. The wheel has such a true feel. There is also rumble feedback which makes it really feel like you are in the car. The racing pedals are adequate. I felt the pedals were a little stiffer than I would have liked. Also, when I wore shoes, I would bump the side of the brake pedal when I would try to apply the brakes. I found it better just to wear socks. Also, the pedals are close together. I became move of a right-foot-gas/left-foot-brake driver.

In the end though, results are what matter in racing games. In GT7, I struggled to finish off some of my Super Licenses. Once I got the wheel and started, I was getting through the race sometime on the first try. Having the wheel made a huge difference. I only wish I had had this sooner. It would have made a world of difference. I was easily able to shed second off my course times. This is what matters most.

Overall, I love the Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel. It gives me a true racing feel and improves my overall game play. There are a couple of little things that I wish were different, but I can overlook those. The T128 definitely improves my gameplay experience. I would recommend the T128 to people looking to get a more immersive feel for their racing games.

The Thrustmaster T128P is an entry level steering wheel for racing games both for the Playstation and the PC hence the P designation. Compared to other streering wheels in the market, this model is quite small. Most notably with this model is that the brake and accelerator pad could hardly accommodate my size 11 feet but would be suitable for someone perhaps with a size 8. Nonetheless it is still workable.
On the steering wheel itself you can find two customizable paddles which I use for acceleration and braking. On the right side, you can see buttons specific for the PlayStation and on the left is a set of up and down arrow keys which are also customizable. There are also four customizable keys which you can use for other functions depending on the game being played such as zoom, instant replay, etc.
I have tried this steering wheels on games I use on Steam normally using a keyboard such as Copa Petrobas, RaceRoom, and Victory: The Age of Racing. So far I find the force feedback on the steering wheel is quite acceptable. Not that this model is not modular meaning you can’t change the streering wheel only like what’s found in other models but this is fairly good to me.

Acceleration is quite satisfactory fpr me, but braking is quite tricky since so far I cannot make the brakes work in spite of customizing the brake pedals and confirming that it should work. But then again that is downside of PC ganes sometimes not being fully compatible with accessories.

Furhermore, most games I have tried from the Microsoft Store are often incompatible with this steering wheel. Perhaps AAA games for the PlayStation may be more compatible with this. But unfortunately I don’t have a PlayStation at my disposal.

Overall, I find this steering wheel quite satisfactory in spite of the quirks of the brakes. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this streering wheel for those who would want one but not necessarily break the bank.

I am 34 and occasionally play games on my PC, but I haven’t touched a racing game in a while, but I got the opportunity to try this racing wheel and honestly it’s been really fun that I have actually stopped playing my to-go games.

I have been playing Project CARS 2 with this racing wheel and I had to play around with the settings to make it responsive and find a setting that I enjoyed. Although the wheel is super fun and of great quality, the pedals were a little harder to get used to because I do not have an appropriate sim with a seat. For this reason, I decided to set up the shifting pedals as the gas and brake, and it’s been working great for me! I know this might not be for everybody, but if you are having a hard time with the pedals, give it a try because this has helped me enjoy this wheel that much more! I love it!

Quality 5/5 (except the foot pedals, I would give that 3.5/5)
The wheel feels sturdy and having the shifting pedals be made of steel really give this a quality feel which gives confidence when playing a sim racer.

    Connectivity 5/5
Super easy to connect! I was using the wheel within 5 minutes without any issues. My PC and game read it right away. As I mentioned, I had to play with the settings to get the wheel to setting I really liked to make my gaming experience great.

    Design 4/5
The wheel itself is great but again the pedals were hard to get used to without a proper sim set up, so I am not using the foot pedals when I am using the racing wheel.

    Features 5/5
Force feedback feels good, and the wheel has so many buttons that can be configured to different settings. Because I am using the shifting pedals as my gas and brake, I had to use my R2 and L2 as my shifting gears and it’s working good for me. The attachment to my office desk is super easy and sturdy, but just be careful on not scratching your desk!

All in all, I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to have for fun playing those racing games you probably haven’t played in a while!

  5. Longhorn74

I love to play racing sims and I jumped at the opportunity to try out this Thrustmaster T128 Racing wheel. I play all of my games on my PC and this racing wheel was a good addition to my set up. I tried out this Thrustmaster T128 on three of my favorite racing sims: Assetto Corsa Compitizione, F1 22 and BeamNG drive. I say that this wheel is a good entry level starter because it has a slightly smaller wheel and pedal board which is mainly made up of hard plastic.
I set this wheel to my PC and it is was quiet easy to do and took very little time. The clamp is very easy to adjust and provides a good amount of clearance. The main reason why I really liked this wheel is the main reason you should consider when purchasing a racing wheel, responsiveness. The force feedback is fairly decent. You can feel it as you transition from one surface to another. A couple of other details that I liked about the wheel are the paddle shifters and the buttons on the wheel. The nice thing about the paddle shifters are how responsive they are. The buttons are positioned in a very accessible location on the wheel.
The main reason why I gave this Thrustmaster T128 4 out of 5 stars are the pedals. They are way too small and are too close together. Just like anything new, I thought I would adjust it, but even after using it for days, I had a hard time with them.
Overall, there are more positive than negatives. I think if someone younger was using this as their first wheel it would be ideal for them.

This Thrustmaster T128 is my first experience with a Force Feedback wheel. Thats right…force feedback. This isn’t the steering wheel you get when playing those old school arcade games. This steering wheel is made for simulation! If you blow a tire, the steering wheel will let you know. Go over rumble strips? Yep, you are going to feel it. If you are explodes…good luck to you and your occupants, but you guessed it, the steering wheel will let you know.

I used this steering wheel over the last couple weeks while playing Beamng.Drive on PC. This wheel does not natively integrate, however after downloading the latest drivers from the Thrustmaster website and about an hour of navigating in-game menus, I was ready to go! As I said, this did take me about an hour, however I had to assign each button on the steering wheel (which there are a lot of them!) and I had to invert the gas/brake input to make them work properly (YouTube is your friend!). After setting up the steering wheel, it did take some trial and error adjusting steering and gas/brake characteristics to a point that I liked. But after initial setup, it was time to actually play!

First impression is that the steering wheel is comfy in the hand, but it is obvious that its entry level and very plastic. I am not sure if this is a design issue or if mine was roughed up a little bit in shipping, however when I turn the steering wheel or the force feedback kicks in, it almost sounds like shaking a box of tic-tacs. Its very apparent that something is loose or broken inside the steering wheel, but it does not effect gameplay. However the input feel on the steering wheel is pretty good! Something that isnt all that impressive, however, are the pedals. They definitely feel cheap, and they do not like to stay in place. I have placed items behind the pedals to keep them in place, however unless you get something sturdy but short, the top of the pedals will hit the object when pushed and limit your travel and input.

Overall, this is a very fun, but entry level driving simulator controller. Did I enjoy using it? Definitely. Do I think it needs improved? For sure. However if you want to get a taste of the driver simulator experience, this would be an acceptable starting point.

This racing controller outfit far exceeded my expectations. It is heavier than I thought and very well made. The foot pedals are rather light, but work fine if you set them against something from sliding. The clamp on the wheel is to mount to a desk and tightens down securely. I added some additional weight to the desk I mounted in on to keep it stable. You will need to follow the instructions on how to pair to a Playstation 5, but once you know what buttons to press and the color to look for, it is easy to pair. The wheel surprised me when it started spinning to calibrate on initial connection and pairing. I had no issues with it controlling my navigation in place of my regular controller. I was able to launch Grand Turismo 7 and start using it for racing without any additional setup on configuration. Feedback is great and have just right amount of tension when steering and the feedback when you collide with something is very realistic. The lights can be used to calculate when it is time to shift gears if you using it in manual transmission mode. It has allowed to finish it more top finishes than with the standard console controller. It is brought a renewed joy to my racing games and I am excited to race on a more frequent basis. It has most of the same basic features as devices that cost twice as much and you still have the same great control.

It’s been a while since i last used a steering wheel setup for my games and i have to admit this opportunity i had with the Thrustmaster T128 made my games so much more interesting.
I have to give the 5* stars for the great price to value you get with this wheel not necessarily with all the futures. You have to understand if you are just getting into racing games or looking for something that won’t break the bank this setup is more then enough it’s awesome!
It connects by default to Pc Mode (green light indicator) but you can change that to Ps by holding the “mode” button for 5 seconds and then simultaneously navigate with the right arrow button till the light changes to your desire mode (blue and red both being for PlayStation)
It clamps to your desk or table or rig setup with ease. Make sure u connect your pedals and run your usb-c to your desired gaming platform (pc or ps4 on my case) plug it in, and make sure to keep your hands away as it recalibrates each time you make a connection!
It’s entirely made out of plastic it’s light weight and rather small but with great pedal/shifters. Even so the force feedback it’s strong and even when i was getting hit by other cars it will push you away like in a real life situation.
The brake/acceleration pedals they are great you can just set them under your desk However i have a problem when the race intensify they will slide and go all over the place so i have to find a solution since they have 2 slots for screws to find a secure position for them since just setting them on a flat surface it’s not enough.
All in all it’s a great toy with a lot of value! Thanks

I have the Logitech G923 wheel for my Xbox and PC but I always use it on the Xbox for Forza. It does not work with the PS5. So I got this to be able to play with either PC or PS5 since it works with both. The wheel is very easy to setup right out of the box. There’s a few wires but nothing crazy. Connecting it all is not any issue. The only issue you will likely have is just the best way to route and hide the cables. After about 10 minutes of being under my desk sorting cables, I was able to get it all routed and ready to play.

Firing it up for the first time and it works just fine. However the first game I attempt it with, an older game, it does not recognize the wheel. A reboot and firmware update and the game then works. I believe it was Wreckfest I tested that with at first but I’m not completely sure. I do know that I fired up Need for Speed Unbound, my currently most played racer, and it was amazing to play with the wheel. The feedback is excellent, although not as heavy duty, hard whipping the wheel out of your hands as the G923, but that is to be expected. It has excellent feedback for the wheel size, which I might add, is also a little smaller than the G923, which is nearly the size of a real steering wheel.

The clamping system to clamp to the desk is pretty good if you’re not a maniac with the wheel. I was able to race a few times without issue but when I asked my wife to test it, it wasn’t about 10 seconds before it came off of the desk. Subsequent mounting attempts using the lock system were a bit better but I never trusted it to be completely stable when she was using it. I had no issues however as I am a bit lighter of a hand on the wheel.

I went on to test several other racing games and had no issues with being recognized. I also didn’t have to run any special software (other than the Logitech software of course) or do any special configuration with the games. The wheel just worked. The pedals are plastic, light but seem not to move much at all on my carpet. There did not seem to be any spears or anything to angle downward into the carpet but however they designed it, it didn’t move hardly any. I will say I did rest the ends a bit against the foot stool I had but surprisingly the thin, cheap, light pedals aren’t much of an issue, other than perhaps you not liking having thin, cheap, light pedals, which seemingly is maybe where some of the money was cut to make this more affordable.

All in all no real issues and I’d easily recommend this to anyone looking to get a wheel for PC or PS5 (there’s an Xbox/PC version as well so make sure to purchase the right one). I recommend it for anyone but the most hardcore racers. Hardcore racers would likely want something starting around the Logitech G923 but this wheel will be a great, affordable wheel for anyone.

The Thrustmaster T128 racing wheel will take your racing game to the next level. This wheel is very well constructed. Despite being mostly made of plastic, the wheel does feel good on the hands and is not as slippery as you may think. This wheel does come with a set of pedals (brake and accelerator). Putting it together was very simple, plug and play for the most part. This wheel works with PC/PS4 and PS5. It connects via USB-A cable. If you connect this to the PC I recommend you head over to the manufacturer website and download the drivers and software for better performance and compatibility.

Every time you turn on the device that the wheel is connected to, it will conduct and self alignment by spinning several times. On the front of the wheel you have access to all the PS buttons and the engine light. I played several games on my PC and it definitely was a different experience. It felt like the arcades just needed a seat that moves with the game. Steering felt kind of natural and I say that because the wheel is not the size of an actual steering wheel. However, it was much better playing with this than the remote or keyboard. The paddle shifters are very responsive and they are easy to reach. Now I found myself using the paddle shifter more often in my vehicle after getting used to this wheel.

A is mentioned before this wheel works with the PlayStation 4 and 5. I connected it to my PS5 and it worked fine. However, I went through some hurdles to make it work. I believe the reason was that I was using it on the PC at first and that setting became the default. If you are trying to connect it to the PS5 or 4, the light above the PS button should turn blue. In my case no matter how many times I disconnected and re-tried the light stayed green, meaning it was recognizing it as a PC. If you have that issue follow these steps: when the wheel is connected to your PlayStation press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds until the light above the PS button starts flashing. Keep holding the mode button and then press right on the directional pad until you see the light turn blue, then release the button. That should get you setup for your PlayStation.

Playing Gran Turismo with this wheel and the PSVR is totally a different ball game. You are in the driver seat. Great experience. As with the PC the wheel is very responsive with the PS5. Despite most of my experience being positive there were a few things this wheel could have done better on the PS . For instance, more driving feedback. A little vibration when the vehicle is in motion could lead to a better and more realistic driving experience. If you drive straight you will not receive any road feedback unless you turn the wheel. During PS gaming I noticed when impacting another vehicle on the side you will not result in steering feedback, neither going off road. I tried adjusting the sensitivity but got the same results. I noticed the same on PC but that was easily corrected on the wheel settings. Also, be aware where you place the pedal set if you place it on a carpet it will slip. Besides that, this wheel is phenomenal.

Overall, this wheel will change the way you play racing games at home. It easily attaches to pretty much any table. It is very well built, easy to use and set up. In the box you get the Wheel, pedal set, power cable, USB cable and quick setup guide.

The Thrustmaster T128 provides a novice level sim racing experience that is way better than using a controller but the pedals and plastic wheel keep this from being a really nice racing platform. Most of my PC racing games recognized the T128 as a racing wheel but only the newer game versions listed it as a Thrustmaster Advanced Mode Racing wheel. Overall the T128 and its forced feedback provides a simulated race experience that will thrill most novice or casual racers.

    Pros:
    – Hybrid Drive forced feedback was quiet and relatively consistent across games
    – 13 configurable buttons
    – Thrustmaster drivers and control software recognized by most games
    – Magnetic paddle shifters and pedals

    Cons:
    – The wheel is small at 10 inches and it is all plastic
    – The pedal base is too easy to move and tilt over during use
    – The pedals are too small and very close together
    – No mounting options for the wheel assembly besides the table clamp

Game Play: Prior to playing any games I downloaded the T128 drivers and control panel software from the Thrustmaster support website. With the software installed I then tested all the wheel and pedal functions and buttons. All the games recognized the wheel as either a generic wheel or a version of a Thrustmaster wheel. With the wheel recognized I then went into each game’s controller/wheel configuration page and made changes to recommendations I have found on the web or Youtube. Note that these settings have a profound effect on how the wheel responds and reacts so to get the most out of this wheel you need to change the configuration to meet your needs. Below is quick rundown of what each game recognized the wheel as and if the wheel’s LED display worked in the game.

Assetto Corsa – wheel is recognized as a Thrustmaster but the LED wheel display does not work.
Assetto Corsa Competizione – wheel fully recognized as a Thrustmaster Advanced Mode and LED works.
Dirt Rally – wheel is recognized as a Thrustmaster but LED display does not work.
Dirt Rally 2 – wheel is recognized as a Thrustmaster but LED display does not work.
F1 2018 – wheel is recognized as a Thrustmaster but LED display does not work.
F1 2022 – wheel fully recognized as a Thrustmaster Advanced Mode and LED works.
Forza 4 – wheel recognized as a generic wheel so you need to configure the wheel and pedal functions with the Custom wheel settings, LED does not work.
Forza 5 – wheel recognized as a Thrustmaster T248 and LED works.
Asphalt 9:Legends – wheel is recognized as a generic wheel but LED display does not work.

Thrustmaster has a list on its support website that list the games that support the wheel’s LED display. Bottom line is that the games were somewhat consistent in recognizing the Thrustmaster drivers and minimal setup was required to get the wheel fully operational. Once the games were configured I was able to really enjoy the forced feedback and the driving experience that this wheel provides. In the F1 and Assetto Corsa games you can feel the wheel respond in tight corners at high speed and you can feel the vibration of the road surface as you go faster. In the Dirt Rally racing you can feel the difference when going from a dirt track to gravel in the wheel vibration and also how it responds to drifting. In Forza Horizon 5 the Hot Wheels track takes on a whole new feeling when you are trying to steer through high banks and loop to loops. For the casual player or someone who wants to get into racing games at an affordable price point this platform is definitely one to consider.

Issues with Mounting the Wheel and Pedals
The race wheel comes with a typical table top clamp but sadly Thrustmaster has shortened the legs of the clamp with this version versus some of its older models. Because of this the mounting clamp has to be able to grip the table top close to the edge of the table. If there is any type of support or molding offset from the edge you may have issues mounting the wheel. Also Thrustmaster did not include any mounting hardware built into the wheel’s base for securing it to racing stand. I use a racing stand and it has predrilled holes for Thrustmaster wheels but without mounts in the base of wheel I had to create my own mounting. The pedal platform is very problematic due to the short pedals and its size. It is impossible to keep it from sliding or tipping over if you use it on carpet. On a hardwood floor or any solid floor the pedal platform is grippier but definitely not perfect. The pedals are too small and way too close together. Anyone who has big feet or has wide shoes will have problems with these pedals especially if you like to use both feet on the pedals. Thrustmaster did include two mounting holes in the pedal platform if you have a racing stand and some hardware for mounting it.

The Thrustmaster T128 is a good racing wheel for all your racing games. It is a great alternative to using a controller. I have had the pleasure of using the racing wheel these past couple of weeks. Although using the wheel was exciting, there are a couple of items that are keeping it from being a perfect racing wheel. In this review, I will cover the pros and cons of the Thrustmaster T128.

    *TLDR at the bottom

    ==============================================
    IN THE BOX/SET-UP:
Firstly, in the box, you get the T128 racing wheel, pedals, all the cables required, and a quick start guide. Setup did not take long. The majority of the time you will be finding a comfortable position to place the T128 in. I clamped mine on my desk. If you plan to use the T128 on a PC, you will need to download the drivers required for the racing wheel. Simply head to the website listed in the quick start guide and download the required drivers. Install them and the wheel should be ready to go!

    ==============================================
    COMFORT/BUILD:
The racing wheel is smaller compared to an actual steering wheel. Comfort-wise, the racing wheel is comfortable but I would’ve preferred a leather cover grip at the cost of price but there are racing wheels out there that do have leather covers if you are looking for one. Buttons felt cheap but I didn’t find them to be a problem. On the other hand, the paddle shifters do feel great when shifting gears. The pedals felt cheap as well, but I did find them comfortable to use. Although, I did dislike how easily the pedals can be tipped over when using them. It’s all due to the lack of weight at the base. I worked around this issue by using my other foot to hold down the base.

In terms of build, the entire product is mostly plastic. The racing wheel, buttons, pedals, etc. are all plastic. I don’t mind plastic, but I do hope it’s durable enough to last for years to come.
    ==============================================
    TESTING:
I tested the wheel in mostly two games. The first game is Need for Speed: Heat and the second is Forza Horizon 5. I do recommend tweaking the settings and advanced controls for the racing wheel before playing for the optimal experience. Forza did have clunky controls and feel at first with the default settings. I decided to use some preset settings recommended by users online to have better control and feel of the game. NFS: Heat didn’t need much tweaking in settings. The default settings felt great, and I decided to go with those.

I seriously enjoyed the forced(haptic) feedback on the T128. Whether you’re driving on rough terrain, asphalt or you hit a wall, you will feel it with the racing wheel. I mentioned buttons felt cheap but while playing, they were responsive which was nice. The paddle shifters were enjoyable to use and responsive when shifting gears. Also, the engine speed LED lights on the racing wheel will only work for some games. The weakest area for this product is the pedals. While the pedals are responsive, the base lacks that extra weight to hold it down, and the grip on the bottom isn’t the best either.

    ==============================================
    VERDICT/TLDR:
The Thrustmaster T128 is a neat racing wheel for all racing game fans. It certainly is a great replacement for a controller. The controls and forced(haptic) feedback are the best features of this product. Where it falls short is the pedals. The pedals felt cheap and the lack of weight on the base makes it easy to tip over. If you can clamp down the base, your experience will go a lot smoother. Overall, due to the feel of the controls and the thrill I had of using this wheel over the past couple of weeks, I did enjoy using the T128 and do recommend you give this racing wheel a shot.

The Thrustmaster offers you the opportunity to feel what its like to get behind a race car and feel that immersion from behind the screen. And while this may not fill the needs of all, it is sure to be a great set up for those on the fence about buying their first set up.

Out of the box you get everything you need to get you going. Set up is very straight forward and really requires very little effort. There are a few things to be aware of though. As far as Playstation 4 and 5 go its simply plug and play no other effort needed. On PC keep in mind the set up will not work unless you download the latest plugin, which will require to do some research of your own. Once the plug in is installed everything works flawlessly. Also be aware that unlike some other pedal set ups the base of these pedals does not offer any type of friction pad to prevent it from sliding across the floor. You will slide badly across hardwood and carpet will offer more friction. This base is very clearly meant to be installed on a race chassis and left on a floor. Keep this in mind incase you are planning to lay the pedals down on hardwood instead of mounting it. The wheel mounts very easily via a provided bolt and clamp set up and should easily mount up to a 3 inch platform. Now lets get in to the real reason why you wanna buy it and that’s the immersion. The steering wheel has a built in motor which based on what game you are playing will offer multiple resistance or road feedback. Maxing out the settings seems the give the most realism. While playing Need for Speed Heat i remember i was pushing about 150 mph on a highway and as i came across a bridge where the bridge connects to solid ground there was a small dip in the ground. As a came across that junction point the wheel jerked a bit and the car felt a bit unstable for a quick second almost as you would expect it to feel in real life. The fact that the steering wheel had adequate pressure meant that i was able to apex my turns appropriately without over steering. The pedals have great resistance and personally feel better than the pedals in my personal vehicle. The transition from closed throttle to wide open throttle was very smooth and made holding a certain speed effortless. Never once did i experience any glitch or dropout of the pedal sensors. Drifting with these pedals was so much easier now that both the brake and accelerator could be easily feathered. There is no feedback in the pedals as in the steering wheel so keep in mind you wont really feel the road force in the pedals.

Here’s my take away from this set up. If your looking to get in to racing games but not really sure your gonna like it, then this is the perfect set up to start with. Out of all the wheels Thrustmaster makes, this is the best priced one that wont break the bank and should leave you with very little buyers remorse. But not just that it is actually a very good set up that offers great feedback and handling. The steering wheel is a little too small for my taste but thats to be expected with this set up. Now with that being said if your a avid racer looking to buy in to a new set up i’d personally recommend something of a higher tier as this may disappoint a bit. But all in all this is a awesome buy just keep in mind the pedals will require some kind of mounting or proper placement

I’ve always liked the idea of buying a racing wheel for the various racing games that I have tried out over the years but, anyone that’s ever looked into driving peripherals knows that it’s an expensive hobby to get into. It’s possible spend a small fortune on the various wheels and gears and handbrakes and pedals and that’s before you even get on to the really good stuff.

The Trustmaster T128 is an excellent compromise as it comes with a racing wheel with an easily adjustable clamp for desks and tables to go along with that we’ve also got a set of pedals for braking and acceleration. The wheel itself has 15 buttons, a direction pad and the typical PlayStation controller with the triangle, square, circle and x. I’m sure this combination would work fabulously with a Playstation, however, I used it with my PC.

Out of the box, the wheel itself is rather small in build and plastic, with no rubber or grips. It also comes with a clamp to secure it to a desk. The base pedal set includes only brake and accelerator. When I first received the wheel I attempted to used it on my desk (mount as supplied will only work with desk that are 2in thick max. We ended up having to design an extension for the clamp to make it useable for the desk (using a M10 x 1.5 Pitch Stainless Threaded Rod (150mm long) and Stainless Hex Coupling (45mm long). Another thing to consider is if the the front of your desk has a center drawer the move may move with drawer or the handle may be an issue. During the initial setup, I noticed the cord connecting the wheel to the base was too short to drape over the back of the desk, therefore it had to hang off to the side. It wasn’t a bother while I was driving, just an issue to consider while setting up.

Downloading the drivers is necessary, but just a simple search for the model will lead you to the website. Once the wheel was setup and driver installed, I connected the USB to my pc. Be warned that the wheel does a calibration, rotating fully in each direction, on connection.

I enjoyed the feeling the weight of it and the force of turning the wheel. This wheel action in no way feels like a lesser product. The turning angles meaning that you can whip this thing around for those really tight corners but the big feature the reason that you should be buying this racing wheel is the haptic feedback. I raced a few racing with it in the default settings, then adjust the feedback of the wheel, rotation, and a few buttons to customize my racing experience.

On the various tracks of Forza 5, there was a ton of feedback and haptics, I could feel the type of road surface that was underneath my tires whether that be road, trail or river. The haptics here are really impressive and really immersive, it really pulls you into the game. Also, the feedback from the other cars, scenery, and terrain affects the handing of the vehicle, which is a fun and added to the difficulty of the game. I could really feel the physics of the game intentionally through the wheel.

Now the pedals were another issue I had to overcome. My desk setup is in a carpeted room. I noticed the bottom of the pedals have a rubber grip, that my pair better with laminate or ceramic floors. Unfortunately, on the carpet the pedal slip away, and often I had to readjust them mid game, pulling them back with my feet. When I received my second desk, it had a support bar at the bottom. I used that support bar and a yoga block to stabilize the pedal setup. I didn’t have any problems after that solution. The pedals do provide nice feedback with the brake spring being a little harder to push than the accelerator.

I have mostly used the wheel with Forza 5, because of the RPM LED support and mostly plug&play support. I have also used it with BeamNG and Dirt 2.0, but both required manually setting up the wheel. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed that Forza 4 is not yet supported (I have a ton of cars in that one). Please check the Thrustmaster website for the list of compatible games or check out some forums before buying if you are set on a specific game.

Overall, the Thrustmaster T128 is an affordable set up that provides strong haptic feedback, RPM LEDS, a set of pedals and acceptable compatibility with newer games.

The Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel and Pedal package is a steal at retail price and I am going to tell you why I feel that way. I was able to compare this wheel to my 2 current setuos which include the Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari setup and a mid-tier direct drive wheel setup with a very expemsive pedal setup.

First, install is easy with the desk clamp if you do not have a sim rig like myself. I tested this wheel in both my sim rig and attached to my kids desk where it still stays as they now have their own wheel amd pedal setup. I also found the Thrustmaster 3 pedal setup from my T300 plugs in and works great as well as the Thrustmaster Shifter. Knowing the T129 uses/accepts many of the TM add ons is a hige positive as you can upgrade as your budget allows.

First, the steering wheel, it is a great piece of hardware for what you pay. Is it anywhere near Direct Drive? No, because in drifting and hard racing cknditions with a lot of jumps or bumpy race tracks, i was able to may the wheel slip off axis multiple times. Please take into consideration, I sim race for more than a hobby, I race series against very good drivers across the world in many games.
The wheel performs fantastic for what it is though, the kids can actually race against me now from the backup sim PC and they have yet to complain as they are used to only using the T300.

The T129 has some dead zones towards TDC of the wheel, it feels like I have to turn a little early so the wheel knows to start the turn in time and start exiting turns and apexs a little early as well. The Force Feedback is ok, nowhere near the Direct Drive wheel but on par with the T300, really not that far different, the T300 is just stronger.

Sexond, the pedals are good enough for the kids, not for me. Yes, the magnetic sensors are much better now than the earlier styke 2 pedal setup from TM, like night and day, but, they are not linear at all when tested. At 10% throttle, measured with a ruler, I was showing 16%, 50 was 52% and 100% did get 100%. Do they work, yes, they do, and do just fine for beginners and kids.

Make sure to download the TM software to setup and update the wheel and pedals as well, it can save you a ton of headaches.

I highly recommend this setup for any beginner or any kid out there on a birthday budget

The Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel used while playing Gran Turismo on my PlayStation 5.

Build Quality and Design: The T128 Racing Wheel is made of hard plastic and well-built with a sturdy construction that feels durable. The wheel has a comfortable grip and is ergonomically designed, allowing for long hours of gameplay without discomfort. The pedal set is also solid and provides a realistic feel. The only thing I would’ve like to see is if the steering wheel had some texture or grip to it. The controls are also plastic feeling, the paddle shifters were placed perfectly and easy to shift.

Compatibility and Setup: Setting up was a breeze. It is designed specifically for the PlayStation 5 and I used the disc version of Gran Turismo. Connecting it to the console was straightforward, and the provided instructions were clear and easy to follow. I set up my wheel on a table and looking to get a frame. The only issue is the cord from wheel to PS5 is short, would loved for it to at least be 15ft long.

Realism and Precision: The T128 Racing Wheel truly elevates the driving experience in Gran Turismo. The force feedback is excellent, providing realistic vibrations and resistance that make you feel every turn, bump, and acceleration. The precision of the wheel and pedals was precise.

Adjustable Settings: One of the standout is its adjustability. You can fine-tune various settings, such as force feedback strength, sensitivity, and pedal response, to suit your preferences. This level of customization enhances the overall immersion and caters to different playing styles.

Compatibility with Other Games: While I primarily used the T128 Racing Wheel for Gran Turismo, it is also compatible with other racing games on the PlayStation 5. This versatility is a big plus for those who enjoy a variety of racing titles.

Overall, the Thrustmaster T128 Racing Wheel is a great racing wheel at an affordable price. Its build quality, realistic feedback, and adjustable settings combine to create an immersive and authentic racing experience. Whether you’re a casual gamer or a dedicated racing enthusiast, this wheel is definitely worth considering for enhancing your gameplay. I gave 4 stars mainly because the wheel could have had a little grip or less plastic feeling.

  23. ChrisP

Great for mt teenage son and gives me a chance to drive expensive cars i would never be able to afford.

  24. AracelyS

Good entry level , wish it was blouetooth comparable

  25. Coachkam76

For $120 not bad. It calibrates with the ps5 automatically. Its wired for a desk or racing chair and rig combo. Lol. The wires are a little short in length. Still a great set up for the price. The pedals are the downside. They have to be mounted to something or they will move and slide constantly. The steering wheel feels fine for non professional gamers. Very responsive. Do your self a favor. Get a racing rig to mount everything. Gran Turismo time!!!!

  26. BlackGAMER

Not a bad entry set. My biggest cons are the toyish look, and the plastic wheel. The pedals honestly aren’t that bad although the cable is very short and you have to be meticulous about setting it up if you’re OCD like me. The force feedback is barebones since I have to turn it to the max in all driving games that support it. I did have a blast with GT 7 and AC: Competizione. There are obviously better wheels but at higher price points. I would honestly buy this second hand if you could find it. If you’re patient, Fanatecs PS5 wheel is where it’s at!!!!!

  27. Cool

Bought for present. Got told it’s easy to set up. They like it.

  28. CameronG

Definitely worth the money. It’s exactly what i wanted

  33. Sambo

I got for kids and definitely going to help them learn how to drive real life.

  34. RooneyF

This set up is awesome. The only downfall is I didn’t realize that the wheel was only compatible with some games. I would advise checking the list to ensure they are the games you play prior to purchasing.

  35. JoseR

    Excellent ExcellentExcellentExcellentExcellentExcellent

  36. Eaglekeeper

  41. ElliottR

son loves it easy to put together.. he could not put down

  42. DonnellH

My son lives it got it for Christmas ordered it came two days later thanks

  43. Damian

I couldn’t connect it to my ps5 after several attempts

  44. Krissie

The pedals confused my son for a quick moment, you can change them around and the way he placed it on the floor every time he hit the gas it acted like the brake and vice versa. That’s an easy button push to fix though. The wheel isn’t 100% smooth turning but it’s pretty smooth. Force feedback is wonderful and my son says other than the wheel kinda feeling stuck just a tiny bit at times he’s absolutely in love!

  45. LindaR

Enjoying the setup. Grandpa and granddaughter love it.

  46. Newlaptop

Great gaming platform. Works as it should and adds great performance features to the game.

  47. SalvadorP

  48. NaLyne

We had to return it, not compatible with PS5 as it said

  49. ScottR

I did not like this wheel, I took it back. It feels cheap and made of cheap plastic.
