Honestly I don’t get the obsession with 70-200 lenses. I returned it and got a Tamron 28-300 for my full frame DSLR Nikon D750.
200mm isn’t a lot of range especially for how large and heavy they are. Yeah the 28-300 has its limitations in low light but I’m not shooting for National Geographic.

Been looking for a 70-200 for a while now and after reading and listening to so many reviews I finally decided to purchase the Tamron 70-200. It has a great bokeh and at 200 plenty of length for some portrait photographs. At 70 its great as well. The 2.8 give great bokeh at all lengths and the 3 stage VC works really well for plenty of hand held photos. This lens is a perfect lens for any photographer looking for a longer lens for shooting distance or close up photographs.

Compared to Nikon version this is a bargain. Well built and great quality images.
Toll it for a walk around the shore and produced some stellar pics .
Stafford –
An outstanding lens, as good or better than Nikon, for less than half the price. The auto focus is very quick and accurate.
PhotosbyFICH –
Awesome all around lens. It is with me all the time when I’m out shooting.
Bluejay –
Was extremely excited to purchase this lens in view of all the positive reviews, but did notice that a number of people complained that focus seemed to be inconsistent. I should have listened to the minority because this lens focus has been inconsistent at best. And yes I have the Tamron dock but it hasnt helped. I sometimes wonder how many of these reviews are fabricated. Many use adjectives that most people dont use that often. Anyway its too late to send back, hopefully I can work this out in time. Maybe im just a lousy photographer!

I got the Tamron 70-200 g2 because of the price. The image quality is unmatched. If you don’t get the G2 your missing out . A must buy

Warning, I am a bit of a Tamron fan. They are considerably less expensive than oem lenses, are well made, have the ability to work with a hub for firmware updates and focus tweaking….but i havent had to do ANYTHING with these lenses on a Nikon body. I recently switched from Canon to Nikon, replacing my beloved 90mm Macro, 24-70 and 70-200 Tamron lenses and they are all spot on. I kind of feel like I wasted 60 bucks on the Tap-in console. 🙂
The 70-200 is a great all around lens. Is very fast and is incredibly sharp with its VC vibration control. Excellent bokeh and subject isolation and the color rendering is so good with Tamrons lens coatings.
Highly recommended.

I bought this lens for wildlife and sports photography. So far, after 1 month of use, it is really good! Fast focus, sharp photos, not to heavy. The only problem that I had was that the sliding buttons on the lens are somewhat loose. It is possible that you may by accident change the settings.
Chris –
Great, sharp lens that you can still buy locally, and good price.

I don’t make money with my photos, so the Tamron 70-200mm is a much more affordable option for me. I think that this is an excellent lens. I rarely took it off my camera until I purchased the Nikon 200-500mm. I’ve used it to take my son’s and niece’s senior portraits. I would recommend this lens.
tzflye –
This lens is gr8, takes gr8 pics and works gr8 with my Z6 and D500. Really good quality!
Marne –
I really want the Z lens fo my Z6, but it took too long to hit the market. I’ve read where this was a great lens, but after using it and seeing the images I am completely satisfied. Shooting at f2.8 the images are extremely sharp with very beautiful bokeh. The money saved will go on a 14-35 Z lens.
Bartu –
Half the price of Nikon , its vibration reduction is awesome. I’m able to take great pictures with 200mm and the 2.8f gives the portrait look or i can turn off for a zoomed photo. Just little big lens through
Wtmfit –
Great lens. Did my research and made sure that this is what I wanted. For most you can Not tell the difference from Nikon..besides price
OneJokeKiller –
Great product. Always liked Tamron lenses. Sharp and works great.
MaumelleKelly –
I needed a bigger camera lens and was not perfectly clear of what I needed. The associate was very helpful in my decision.
HappyPhotographer –
Perfect lens for what we needed and Best Buy was wonderful and super quick with getting me my lens!
JulieG –
EXACTLY what I was looking for! The quality of my action shots, especially in lower-light, is so much better than my previous lens.
soccermom –
It’s awesome! The only problem was that it made me want a better camera to use all the benefits.
Multimike –
Awesome lens works amazing and the photos look great
BlairOaksSD –
Great addition to the camera we purchased for, glad we did our research and decided on this product.

I love the sharpness of this lens, I’m getting into sports photography and so far my pictures have been amazing. Other than the fact that this is a heavy lens it’s great for portraits as well as sports. I was hesitant at first but I’m glad that I made thus purchase. I would definitely recommend this lens for most of your photography sessions.
JuanH –
I love this lens!!! Tamron 70-200 is a great lens!
Nikon –
Great lens. Quality is excellent. Purchased for wedding photography.
straitfreak –
Amazing glass, very versatile lens, so happy it was compatible with my Nikon mirrorless camera body
sonofjune19th –
Works as expected. I used a Z5 Nikon with a FTZ Adapter. In my experience the lense and camera was a great combo
Grill –
Love it!!
Best lens compare with the camera original.
Lightweight lens, work great for spots & portrait.
ACVG –
Love this lense!
Super good price!
Sharp images, good quality!
CoyotePrettyPhotography –
Not as good as Nikon but better value. Auto focus not as reliable.
Kphoto –
The lens is good but not what I expected. I need it to be more sharp in focus.
TammyB –
I was apprehensive to use a lens that wasn’t a Nikon branded lens. I’m not a professional photographer so, it’s ok for me to not have a professional grade lens. Great product. The clarity is as good as Nikkor lens I had previously.
Shaun –
Very good 70-200mm lens that is almost same as Nikon but for 1000$ cheaper
OLDmanPapaj –
Awsom lense good service hood people.
I will buy again everything from my bestbuy
Compete with the best and even surpasses.
bchenx –
I am using it on my z7 ii and d500. Definitely more bang for the buck compared to the native lens. The s line 70-200mm goes for more than twice the price of this lens. Lens is sharp at 2.8 but really excels at f4. Great for sports photography.
jennrochelle –
Love this lens! Since my husband and I shoot weddings together, we needed a second zoom lens for our second camera body, and it’s awesome! Images are sharp, and bokeh is nice despite the aperture not being lower.
NikonFan –
A good substitute for the Nikon 70-200mm. Fast and Sharp!
TrazoLitrato –
Love using this lens with the Nikon z50! Quite good for taking portraits.
JohnSobankhead –
This lens is fantastic. It’s sharp from 70mm all the way to 200mm wide open. It’s a great low light lens. VR is amazing. The build quality is top notch. It doesn’t lengthen to expand to 200mm. It does that internally. The weather sealing is also great. I am in love with this lens. This is the only zoom lens I would ever consider to use for portraits. Just a fantastic lens all around
**the best thing about this lens is the Vibration Reduction or VC as they call it. It’s 2nd to none. Better than lenses twice the price. The stills VR setting is such a fantastic feature. It will allow you to hand hold shots at very low shutter speeds. You can shoot 200mm at 1/30 SS or even lower.
ClickandShoot –
Can’t say enough about the quality of the pictures I’m able to capture with this lens. So pleased with it.
Worst –
This is a great lens. Performs great with my D850 and my Z6 ii.
Destroyor –
Best bang for buck. Highly suggest buying this for your set.
Kris –
Absolutely love this lens, great buy for the price and elevates your sessions. Very heavy if holding manual and buy vr stability helpsyour shot if not using a tripod.
HOMEY –
Outstanding lens. Use for events such as weddings, graduations, birthday parties and such. Great results. Tamron hit it out of the ballpark with this lens!
Diana –
Great lens. The details that it captures are exceptional. The zoom feature is amazing as well. Great for surprise shots as well.
DavidK –
This is a great lens, light, pretty and with fast focus.
TheNikonShooter –
Perfect for sport’s and portrait photography. Its abmust in my camera bag
ElizabethP –
I recently updated my Tamron 70-200 that had some age to it. I absolutely love this lens and it has been perfect for my sports photography but also works great for portraits.
zpdd03 –
I love this lens. I am currently using on a Nikon D500 and have taken large amounts of photos, especially action photos. It does a excellent job.
AmberV –
great lens for the cost, currently use it for sports photography and it is fast enough.
