This is a great lens, great reviews. Far more affordable than comparable lenses.
ishootit –
wonderful lens range (close or way out their) you only have to have one lens. crystal clear shots with great depth of field. very affordable price.
Clint –
This lens functions as advertised. I find the photos to be sharp and clear. Catches the target quickly. I would recommend this lens.

I love photographing Bald Eagles. I have gotten amazing close-ups of eagles within a hundred yards or so, but have also gotten decent photos of an eagle sitting on his/her eaglets in their nest from over a quarter of a mile away. Very satisfied.
The lens is quite heavy, so you will need a decent tripod or monopod to use it effectively, but an occasional hand-held shot works OK.
Kidrn –
I like it very much. The lense is a bit heavy. I love the lense.
KEVIN –
I love this lens! It has opened a whole new dimension of photography for me. I have never been able to reach the distances I can with this lens. Like I said, I love this lens!
Ervster –
Used the lens at maximum zoom and the Photos are amazing. Would highly recomment this lens.
Spark66 –
Started taking photos of Eagles but needed larger lens but was on a budget. This lens has fulfilled all needs and the results so far have been terrific. Have been extremely pleased with results.
Karlynski –
Love the quality and the durability of the item. Well made! It is heavy and it is big!! But it’s awesome!!
Natalie –
if you cannot afford a prime lens, like me, the Tamron 150 – 600mm G2 lens is the go-to lens for you.
biglens2c –
I shot with this lens, the Sigma Sport , and the version 1 of the Tamron lens. The Sigma was big and awkwardly heavy, the version one of the Tamron was not sharp wide open. This lens handled and balanced nicely and was sharp wide open. It has excellent build quality.

I’m so happy with the purchase of this lens. If you want to take pictures of wildlife then this is a great lens to have. Just note that this performs a lot better on a full frame sensor camera and images are a little soft at 600mm on a crop sensor camera. But overall the images are decent even on a crop sensor but definitely not as sharp as on a full frame.

Still haven’t found the sweet spot. A little heavy and a must have good heavy duty tripod
SCMom –
This is my 2nd Tamron lens and I love it. I bought it for taking shots of birds, etc and the solar eclipse. The price was right and I love the reach on it. Yes it is heavy, but not much more than my Canon 100-400 or 70-200 II (my go to lens).
maninblk –
This lens is a beast. It’s big and heavy as you’d expect but easy to hand hold in bright daylight situations. Takes great sharp pictures
motis –
I bought this lens about 6 months ago and have been extremely happy with it. I do a lot of wildlife photography, mostly birds, which move very quickly. This lens allows me to get great telephoto shots. The stabilization works great, focusing, and focus lock are all great features.
Cass –
The lens was reasonably priced……..compared to the other zooms it’s size. Also, the weight for a 600mm zoom is excellent. Can be used handheld. The G2 version is a better product than the Ver 1.
JM21310 –
Great Lens. Much better than the 1st generation of this lens. The weather sealing alone was worth the upgrade. Better and slightly faster focusing.
BillZip –
If you’re looking for a powerful, superzoom lens this one is it. This is a well built lens at a great price point
Billz –
I have owned other Tamron Lens and have had no problems with them. This lens did not disappoint me, great Tamron quality and a great price.
DebK –
An ambitious lens that would probably do best if micro-adjusted – mine has a severe back-focusing issue. If focus issues can be resolved I would rate it a bit higher. While it does not have the high image quality compared to Canon glass, it costs considerably less!
Angie30 –
I absolutely love this lens. It’s much better then the first model.
Jerry –
Nice lens for the cost. It’s not a Cannon but would recommend for the cost.
Acumom78 –
My husband bought this to use on an Alaskan cruise in 2019 so wanted to start practicing early learning how to use it. He is very happy so far with the results he is getting.
Alfie –
Great to use outdoors and easy to use. However, pretty heavy to carry around.
Titania56 –
Although just a “tiny” bit soft at 600mm, I love the reach it gives me with a Canon 5D MKIII. I’m hoping that having it calibrated may take care of that, and even if it doesn’t, I’m still super pleased. Would recommend this to any Canon user who doesn’t want to spend thousands of dollars for the same sort of reach with an L glass prime. The two photos I’ve added here were taken at 600mm and cropped.
TDubb –
Awesome super telephoto lens. Super fast focusing and great stabilization.
Badsupport –
I tried the Sigma Contemporary and took it back. Bought this lens and couldn’t be happier. The only negative thing is the weight but it’s worth it.
kayakcamper –
This lens is a heavy and solid lens. Takes nice photos of far away wildlife.
Myeyeoniowa –
Great lens for wildlife photography good quality photos
DawnInAK –
I decided to take the leap on this purchase and am happy I did. I’m using it on a Canon EOS 6D and the photos I’ve taken are amazing. It is big and heavy, but with a tripod that’s not as noticeable. I took it on a recent trip to South Africa and apart from the weight in my backpack as I moved from place to place, it was the perfect piece for capturing some amazing animals. My budget is aching a little right now due to the initial cost, but if it lasts a long time it will totally be worth the money!
Photoshop –
Awesome lens for distance shooting!! Would highly recommend it!!
Migui –
Like it, takes great pictures and quick on focusing! And quite when you focus I would recommend to friends
True –
I love this lens. It is heavy so I make a choice when I carry it but it reaches out and captures photos well.
Lanalytical –
I felt like the lens itself was built well and did the job, but it claims to be an EF compatible lens. While it mounts on my Canon 5D Mark III, the corners were cropped, so I lost much of my photo, because of the incompatibility with the full frame sensor. I wish Best Buy and others would fix this in the description. I have complained about this with the store and to their credit they did take the return, but it is misleading to others looking for a less expensive option for their camera.
James –
Love this lens, it is used frequently for wildlife photography, 600mm zoom helps get great shots of birds in flight.
JoeH –
Really nice lens. Glad I was able to find one when they became so scarce in the stores.
TimS –
This was a great purchase for my photography hobby.
birdie –
the lens is great–but when I called back to purchase a u/v filter for the lens–the camera dept on the website asked if I needed to go to fitness and gym equipment–confused with this and went on line to another more qualified store and purchased what i wanted to purchase
Sunrise –
This is a great lens for the money! This is my 2nd Tamron lens and they both take great photos. It is a heavy lens and best used with a sturdy tripod.
WayneR –
Great lens. Light weight for the focal length. Locking barrel is very handy.
NeilW –
We use this lens for wild life photos and it is amazing. Quick to zoom and focus and takes very clean detaied photos. Would absolutely recommend this lens for anyone wanting to pics at a distance.
ChristinaH –
Excellent product, very good picture quality. I received it and it was great quality. I use it daily. I received it exactly when I wanted it.
Agamemnon84 –
Very heavy, Takes good pictures however i seen better images on kit lenses. This lens is good for bird watching
Mark –
Amazing lens for the money. First Tamron product ive purchased. Lightweight and easy to use. Would recommend
RitaF –
I absokutely love this lens! I have been able to capture wildlife for a distance without spooking then. My photos are crisp and clear and require little editing. This more affordable than the same Canon lens.
Must87 –
Well It was just a bit to heavy for my wife, she attached it to her Canon D80 and it was to much to hold. So I had to take it back. Didn`t like the restocking fee. I would recommendif you use a tripod.
