Sony – XE300 Portable Waterproof and Dustproof Bluetooth Speaker – Blue $96.00
Description
  • Line Shape Diffuser
Sony’s unique Line-Shape Diffuser creates line source and distributes the sound evenly, across a wide sound front, to better fill your space with audio. This spreads high-quality sound further and wider around your party, without compromising on sound quality.
  • IP67 Water, dust, and shock proof
The XE300 is waterproof, so you’ll have no worries by the sea or the pool side. Additionally, with an IP67 rating, your speaker is sealed against dust, so you can use it on any surface, wherever you take it.

The blue color is beautiful, it is loud, quick charges, it has an app that works and can connect to older speakers such us xb23, xb33 and xb43…and it floats on water..

This is by far the best sounding speaker in its class and price range. JBL speakers can’t hold a candle to this thing.

Good value for the money. Sounds great with good range.

  12. SA24

Used for three work parties already. Fills the room with 40 people for cocktails. Also used in 25 person boardroom via a MacBook to watch movies on projector. Ground surround sound.

  13. Giraldo27

I tried out various portable speakers and this one is the best. Hands down it excels in all areas except that it does not have any lighting system.

  29. RobertM

Excellent small wireless speaker, I now have two of them they work really nice easy to hook up and sound very good. Good balance with Bass, can hear words if you like words.

  30. CurtisM

Decent device for listening at the park with just a few friends or people. Not the best range of sound but it’s pretty good. There is no handle and it can be a little difficult to carry sometimes.

Loud speaker, great quality for pool time and lounging

  32. Javier

  33. MattJ

First, what good that is here, as this isn’t like God awful. The size & weight is very similar & comparable to probably one of their biggest competitors the JBL Charge 5. Ok, this is slightly bigger, but it’s comparable and find a friend or family member who has a JBL Charge 5. If you can live with that for portability, you can live with this. Also, while not going to praise the sound much, what it’s doing here it’s doing well. It’s like listening to a singer or band who isn’t great, but keeps from being terrible because they know & are aware of their range and what their capable of and while they stick to that, their fine. Same concept here.

Ok, obviously this speaker didn’t get 2 stars from being great. Let’s dive into the bad. First, maybe I should’ve gotten a black version instead of a blue one, because I immediately see smudges from my fingerprints, but everyone (seemingly) gets a black or gray version, I wanted something slightly different. That’s not really much of an issue. What is to me is there’s no real defined spot to sit this on. Seriously feel like over a short space of time whatever side I decide to put it on will get more scuffed up than both other sides and in comparison with a speaker that has a defined spot to sit it on, like the JBL Charge 5, for comparison, has numerous rubber lines on the bottom that form a surprisingly durable base. Oh, and as I continue, I get that I’m comparing a lot to the JBL Charge 5 here and I’m NOT wanting to sound like this review is an endorsement for the JBL Charge 5, I’m just using it because it’s a similar all around speaker by a competitive brand that’s proven to be popular. Moving on, the lack of a defined spot to sit it on wasn’t the only design element lacking here. The fabric, what limited amount there is here, is fine, however you can feel the plastic, uh whatever they used to keep it’s shape how they want it, and it feels like it has limited durability. In the hands of someone who takes good care of their things it’ll be fine, but for real, this isn’t what you want say your 5 year old to be handling, accident waiting to happen if you’re not cautious. Ok, so next is sound quality. Actually, the notion of their “Line-Shape Diffuser” works quite well, nearly exactly as you want and expect and even hope it will. As I said in the beginning, while sticking to what their goal is this does well. However I don’t know about the majority, but I for one want to FEEL the bass in a speaker, especially a decent sized one. I get there’s no little subs on this, but even holding it in your hand and cranking the music you’re just not going to feel any bass. That was really what pushed this over the edge. A few fingerprints & smudges? I could learn to live with that. A few scuffs from whatever side I end up resting it on? I could learn to live with that too. Be careful as it’s not too durable? I am typically cautious anyway so not a biggie. Pretty much zero bass in a good sized speaker? Yeah, that’s the real reason it got returned.

No I don’t recommend this for anyone. The JBL Charge 5? I suppose, but not to sound like a singing endorsement for JBL I’ll say that the Sony XG-300, which is often on sale for $200 (regular price of $300 so watch for sales, they really do happen) is a superb choice too. A bit bigger and heavier, but it has a handle so it’s not as restricting and is more accommodating. Sony can and does have not just good, but truly great bluetooth speakers, available right now even, this here just isn’t one of them. Oh, and on an ending note, not to be a complete hater of this I suppose if you got it as a gift or even if the price becomes a $100 or less I could justify this. Price isn’t a big factor here, but it’d help.

Beautiful color! Works great too. Sound is beautiful especially in the bathroom where I use it while taking a shower.

  35. ChristianM

Best Bluetooth speaker I have ever owned. Sounds great.

  36. DaveF

Just ok. Thin sound. Not great for large spaces. I returned it.

  37. TaylorS

Not bad for a small get together, def not the life of the party though.

  38. KevinJ

Excellent speaker to enjoy outdoors by the pool or any get together.

  41. Fred2

This is a great speaker. Great sound great battery life. Be nice if is could be a tad louder with a few more EQ settings. But it’s better than a lot of speakers of same size

  42. MaryW

Love it very much! I use it inside and outside and it has awesome sound!
