    I have an A7s and the mics on that are better then most so maybe its not a fair comparison but this device was way worse then that.

    Bought unit to enhance sound recording on my Canon 7i.
    Unit sound pick-up about same as on-board mic. (Near/Far)
    Unit did not out preform Canon 7i on-board mic.

    This microphone fits in the hot shoe on Sony mirrorless cameras like the Sony a6400. Very easy to use, and the sound quality is much better than the built-in microphone.

    We were doing a remote project for work, and I needed to get something quick. This was in stock and not outrageous $, so I ordered and picked up. This is not a studio level mic, but it did what I needed it to do and worked seamlessly.

    So this isn’t the greatest mic ever but it does the job. It’s small and easy to use. Great for compact shooting and keeping a light setup. The audio is better for a concentrated sound compared to the camera’s on board mic. Another benefit is that you don’t need extra batteries, they are powered by the camera. It doesn’t handle well in wind even with the sleeve it comes with. You’d have to buy an extra dead cat sleeve to handle wind noise. I am disappointed that it doesn’t come included considering how cheap they are.

    Works great. Hones in one your distance from the camera and auto adjusts to catch the sound just right.

    Not so good: On the Sony A6000 series it blocks the screen in selfie mode

    I’m not sure how better it sounds compare to internal recording on my sony a7s iii. It feels cheap, plasticky toy, rather than a tool. It is not worth $100.
    It deserves a “Buy Nice or Buy Twice” Warning!

    Great little inexpensive “shotgun” mic for Sony cameras. It actually helped me in a pinch in being able to produce some video segments for news broadcast. May not be sufficient in louder environments at distances greater than a few feet.

    Works great and delivery came ahead of schedule direct to my doorstep! I use this mic for vlogging and it works without cables in the hot shoe of my Sony a7c. I do wish it had a better cover for wind noise but I primarily use for indoor sound isolation.

    This seems like it is supposed to be a plug-and-play mic. I could not get this mic to work with my Sony ZV-1. I do NOT recommend this product.

    Perfect companion with any older sony that does not have a mic input jack. I am using it with an A6000 but one thing thats a bummer is that zoom mode (shotgun amplification) does not work. Check your manual if that feature is important to you. If not, just get it now. Way better than the internal mic. Best cheap way to up the quality of an older unit.

    It is nice and compact and easy to put on any Sony camera. Indoors or in fairly calm conditions outdoors it does a good job of recording audio. But I recently used it outdoors on a gusty day and, even with the wind foam on it, there was way too much noise. Since it has no record volume control of its own, you can only try to minimize the noise by adjusting the audio setting in the camera. So, not good in all situations, but good enough for most indoor shooting.

    This has gun and zoom mode but my sony A6000 doesnt support the zoom mode so I returned it.

    Good shotgun microphone and the zoom mic feature works really well with the Sony FX-43A camcorder. Shotgun mic, but not zoom, works with the Sony ZV-1. Not needing an extra cable is a nice bonus.

    Excellent directional mic. It really focuses on the front and not the sides for audio. It could use some bass but that’s an easy fix in post.

    Bought this for our daughter for her high school video production / newscast class. Does seem superior in its intended use as a narrow field shotgun mic, as opposed to the wider field pick-up of the built in mic on our Sony 4K video camera. Quality item.
