Sony Neckband
Portal speaker that doesn’t greatly annoy others!
The first thing I did with the neck band was to pair it with my AppleTV – unfortunately, the quality just isn’t good enough to enjoy a movie. Perhaps on a re-watch when you’re not paying attention, but not as a cinematic experience. The quality is basically speaker phone quality, just directed at you and not loud enough for everyone around you (though, others *can* hear it if volume is high).
It may not be useful for movies, but it is useful for music, if the music isn’t the main thing you’re listening to. For instance, I have a pinball machine and usually listen (with over the ear headsets) to music while I play. I do this so I can have the music loud in my ear, but no one around me can hear what I’m listening to. Of course the downside of having over the ear headset is that it blocks sounds of the machine, which I then raise the volume so I can hear it through the headsets. The neckband solves this problem by allowing me to have the pinball table at the normal volume, while also listening to music “loud” to me, but not loud to anyone else.
Another bonus of the neckband – you don’t really get tired of wearing it as you do with normal headsets. It is so lightweight that I did not even realize I was still wearing it 2 hours after I had turned it off!
For work, I’ve paired it with both my cell phone and computer, as it is very useful for video / audio work calls. Unfortunately, if I listen to music(via phone) on it during work, I have to reconnect to the PC before I can accept a video call – this is pretty frustrating as I have another set of headsets which actively connects to 2 devices at the same time. Like just about any headset, air conditioners/fans are easily picked up on the calls and (in my situation) require me to turn off fan or a/c for the duration of the call. Again, this is a common problem with just about any headset/speakerphone – but I’m pointing this out as it’s something we don’t naturally think about.
The battery life has so far been excellent – 2 hours a day of usage after about 4 days brought battery level down to 60%. You can quickly check the power level by pressing the power button once and it will audibly inform you of the level, which is good being that there aren’t any battery indicators.
Overall, I would recommend this for just about any headset application – except movies. Podcasts, background tv, work calls, zoom calls – all good!
Just be careful to remember to take it off before you walk outside, otherwise you will get confused looks from strangers staring at your shoulders!

I had high hopes for these but they have a serious issue. The headphones will shut off randomly right in the middle of a conference call. I am not talking about BT disconnecting. I am talking about it shuts off. You have to push the power button again to turn them on (you can tell they shut off because when you push the power button again, it says “Power On”. Battery is at 90%, so its not a low power issue. This is my second pair and same thing. Sony support had me do a reset, but could offer no other help. I see reports starting to pop up of similar experiences. Since these are so new, I expect more reports will start rolling in. Being cutoff in a work conference call, is a serious issue.

The Sony NB-10 Neckband Speakers are built for a pretty specific purpose; as long as you understand their goal, they could be very good for you. If you are expecting great entertainment and musicality, you are in the wrong place! The Sonys are very comfortable to wear, whether above or below your clothing as it sits around your neck. The controls are soft buttons along the inner-edge of the speakers. On/off, bluetooth connect, mute and volume controls are pretty much it. They are simple to use once they have been set-up to your phone or computer. They do not, however, use the Sony app to control or customize the sound. They have a very clear and concise sound, and because they are open, you still hear all the world around you. The microphone is very good and sounds very natural to callers I spoke with. These are excellent for office, Zoom, home office and places where still being able to hear what’s going on around you is important. They are not sound-proof just to you, as anyone around you, depending on the volume, can hear what you hear. Battery life is really good and recharging is accomplished with USB-C (Thank you, Sony!) Now, these are very good for the specific purposes of conversation and meetings. If you are looking for great sound for music or movies, you’ve come to the wrong product. Bass is almost non-existent. The treble and mids are good (hence, good conversation) but that’s about it. Be aware of those shortcomings on these neckband speakers and these are excellent meeting/conversation/Zoom-Call speakers!

One of the worst Sony products that I have purchased in fifty years. Returned within a few hours. Sound quality was unexpectedly poor. Best Buy processed the return without any hassles.
Teeme –
The Sony Bluetooth are great, they are hands free. Outstanding sound and quality!!!

I’ve purchased this product specifically looking for a video conferencing solution to use together with my notebook and after reading other reviews that indicated this would be a good choice. I recommend you read other reviews on this page because they’ve helped me make my choice. I’ve been spending sometimes 6 consecutive hours in meetings back to back and no matter which headset I’d try, my ears could not put up with those long hours of video calls anymore. This Sony neckband is light, comfortable and non-obtrusive. It sits on your neck smoothly and after a few seconds we forgot it’s there. The bluetooth connection is strong. I’m able to walk around the entire first floor of my house without losing the connection to my notebook. Gaining mobility has eased the burden of my constant video conferencing calls. Other people on calls with me tell me that my voice remains clear and strong while I move around, even at 45 feet away (on a direct straight line). I work on a den on the first floor and can get a reliable connection in the living room, in the dining room, in the family room, in the kitchen and even on the 2nd floor around the stairs. The neckband has no screen and only minimalistic buttons – power on/off, mute on/off, volume up and down and call start/end. It has no direct integration with Microsoft teams or other conferencing software, so you can’t answer a call remotely; you have to first accept it on the computer and then you can walk away from it if needed. If you connect it to a cell phone instead, I’d expect you to be able to accept and end calls using the button, but I haven’t tried using it with a cell phone. The speaker quality is good enough for calls and to listen to human voice. I have not used it for any other purpose, but I can tell that if you want to use to listen to music, likely the quality will leave you a bit disappointed. Volume is good and you don’t need to go to full volume to understand other people well. The speakers sit just below the ears, and this makes you feel like the people on the calls are actually sitting next to you. You can still keep awareness of your surroundings while on calls. Forget about the privacy aspect, though: if you use this in a public environment, everybody will listen to your conversations clearly, even at reduced volume. You’d have to keep the volume to near whisper level to protect your privacy, and then I’m not sure you’d be able to actually keep the conversation flowing smoothlessly. Battery life seems really good. I’ve managed 8 hours of straight continuous calls with no breaks and battery dropped to somewhere between 60% and 40%. There is no visual battery indicator, and the neckband reads battery out loud to you in categories “fully charged”, “near 80%”, “near 60%” etc. Charging is excellent, it charges proportionately very fast considering the number of hours that you get from charging. It takes +/- 90min to charge back to full after a day of 8 hours of calls. According to the manual, you can connect this neckband to 2 separate devices at the same time, but in this configuration one serves a call source, the other as music source. This was a disappointment; I’d have connected it to my cell phone and computer if it could be taking calls from both and switch between them seamlessly. In summary, this is a good solution for working from home if you spend many hours on calls and want to save your ears from some headset pain. I think it could offer more integration options, but the excellent wireless range and strong battery performance are a plus, Overall, 4 stars for use as a home office equipment. If you plan to use it for other reasons, I have a feeling you’d give it 3 stars only and as such it turns out to be a bit on the expensive side, as is the case with Sony stuff. It was money well spent for me given my specific use case.

This product works well. I don’t use it as much as I thought I would for business calls. I’ve found that when I need hands free instead of speaker the reason is usually due to environmental noise. In that case, using airpods works better for removing external noises around me. But I’ve been told that the sound quality is good when I am using it and it’s comfortable to wear.

I ended up returning this product because I was looking for something more louder and something that had more bass. If you work in an office and don’t need it too loud than this one is perfect for you. Connection was easy, battery life was good, and it didn’t even feel heavy on my shoulders. The product is great. Just needs more bass and which it was louder.
AustinZ20 –
Works amazing and has completely changed my work life. It’s discreet and feels like I’m not even wearing it. Sony Never disappoints.
DSPatrick –
I bought these as a replacement for a plantronics back beat that finally gave up on me. These have acceptable sound quality but they have very loud and obnoxious beeps at both turn on and turn off. I chatted with sony support about this and there’s no new firmware or anything can be done so I returned them for credit.
Computer –
Very clear reception and very fast recharge. I love it. Its a game changer.

Great item!!! Loving everything about it!!! Thanks for everything

Great listening. Sound is very clear.easy to install

I bought this speaker to lull me to sleep. And it serves this purpose wonderfully.
I have Bluetooth portable speakers, headphones and earbuds. None of these is comfortable (when I lie on my side) or aurally satisfying (even when I place the speaker close to my head).
This neckband speaker meets my needs perfectly – close enough to my ears to deliver a good stereo sound, and plenty comfortable regardless of my sleeping position.
I have also taken to wearing them around the house to listen to podcasts and Youtube videos rather than cranking up the traditional portable Bluetooth speakers which really should be reserved for enjoying music when one is up and about rather than trying to fall asleep.
Final thought: The volume I can muster from this speaker with my Android phone is adequate for a relatively quiet environment (indoors) but I do wish the speaker can be a tad louder. Sony has the SRSNS7 that looks sonically more robust but it costs twice as much and may be less comfortable to wear when lying down. I any case, I have already bought this SRS-NB10 and so can’t justify another neckband speaker.
Recommended if you have a use case like mine.

Good concept. Just not as loud as I would like it to be. Therefore giving it a 4-stars
PrepaidKing –
Unique speaker, has robust sound that was not expected. Pairs well with a bluetooth transmitter into a TV so I can sleep with a great sound experience without earbuds in or headphones on.
KMad –
Sounds like your in a tunnel when used for voip phone. I returned this item same day delivered.
Leone –
Best for phone call, light weight, super clear sound. Not for entertainment, not for music, not for movie
Kizewski –
I love this Sony neck band speaker. Batteries life is great abd the sounds is perfect
Kevin –
Product works great. Connects easily. Wish it would connect to multiple devices at the same time. The sound needs to be just a little louder. Great product.
JamesH –
Love this device….works great…. exceptional sound…
Jennifer –
We love this! It has been a game changer! It syncs easily to our TV and I am no longer kept awake by the TV sound at night
Nanny –
This item was not loud enough for my client to use. He didn’t care for the way it fits around his neck.
TrishNJ –
Easy to use good replacement for in ear headphones
SilkyEnchilada –
This neckband is for hands free use, period. The configuration is optimal for phone conversation sounds. Voices are crystal clear, and the party on the other end can hear my voice perfectly. I have used quite a few devices as “hands free” and this neckband is the best. Musically, this is not for deep bass. If you want exceptional bass, go with the SRS NS7. However, if you are in an office setting…this device is what you need.
Malik –
No bass. Total disappointment. Taking back to the store today!
LynetteW –
Less than 6 months and it is unusable. So much noise and garbage that the person on the other end can’t even hear the conversation.
Scott1969 –
I didn’t hate them they were just not for me. Others may like them i just didn’t feel comfortable with it around my neck, i will stick with my buds.
MatthewP –
I love it. My mother-in-law complains about background noise. Lol
Shimer –
These things are so fantastic I don’t even know they’re on so comfortable and they sound amazing I wish I would have had them years ago
JoyannJ –
Absolutely love my neckband, great for doing chores around the house, especially if you have kiddos.
iPhoneuser –
This is am amazing neck speaker, got one for a friend too
SunnySkies –
Excellent speakers with decent sound. These are good for a work from home scenario. They are not loud enough for going to for a walk or a stroll if there is a lot of traffic noise. However that is not the intended purpose anyway. They are excellent otherwise and have a very long battery life. The buttons are easy to use and recognize.

Excellent Bluetooth speaker
I have been using the Sony NB10 neck band Bluetooth speaker now for several days and it is outstanding. It is very light weight and comfortable. I have connected it to my computer as well as my phone to stream my HD/UHD music library and my Bluetooth projector and it works great. No audio delay when connected to my projector. It tells you when it is powered on and off and when it connects to Bluetooth. The imaging is outstanding. There are controls for volume up and down and the mute button allows you to advance to the next track when streaming music from your phone. There is a button to connect to a call when you receive a call on you cell phone. The call is crystal clear for both ends of the call. The only thing I wish it had was a little more bass. The low end is a little lacking. I can see how this would be a great device for office use instead of a headset. At higher volumes people around you may be able to hear the sound from the speakers. The other feature that I found was if you press the Bluetooth button once the unit is on it will tell you the battery level. The Sony uses USB-C changing so changing is fast. Sony claims 20 hours of use time but in the multiple days I have been using it I still have 40% battery time left. I have multiple Bluetooth speakers and this is now one of my favorites.
SLWG1111 –
I got this after trying several headsets for my WFH needs and this has been my favorite so far. It is comfy like I am not even wearing it and the sound quality is good.
Chess –
Gave as a gift because I love mine so much. Recipient LOVES it. Perfect for around the house, while doing chores. Battery lasts forever, easy setup. Everyone is happy and I look like a star.
Rayg5102 –
This is used for the TV to help my wife hear it better. The sound quality is very poor. We paired it with our LG Smart TV so she uses this bluetooth and I can still use the speakers and I dont get blasted out. There is a constant echo between her and the TV. It cuts out if she walks into the kitchen or bathroom both are only about 10 feet from the TV.
This was bought in replacement of the Sony SRS-NS7 Neckband Bluetooth Speaker/headphone for TV which cost $300. We had two of those and one set lasted a year the 2nd only 3 months. Both started emitting a high electronic sound and would not turn off.

So in love with this product. I use this in meetings
Noooo –
Title says it all…weeak sound…sounds like tweeters
Uwsp46 –
didnt really like them seemed very heavy around the neck
DorothyS –
These wireless devices are not great you could hardly hear the music playing and they fall of your neck.
For as much money I spent on them and there Sony you think they were worth the money, but sadly they are not.
Carol –
Very lite exactly what i was looking for nothing heavy to go over my neck waterproof its the way to go
SanSmilez –
I bought this to connect to my desktop (Mac mini) for MS Teams meetings. However, it would only allow for output audio, not input. I’ve tried many things to get the input to work, but nothing ever panned out. Of course I made sure to try it on other devices— my MacBook Air, iPhone, and smart TVs (LG, Samsung), and the full audio worked. Frustrated that the purpose of me buying it was not fulfilled (desktop), I settled and worked around with the other devices. Then, a few short months later, at random, the left speaker just stopped working. Now when on calls, callers have issues hearing me.
Loved the concept. Battery life is awesome. Very lightweight. The Range from my devices to the neckband was better than my AirPods.
Just not fully functional or working as intended. Maybe I just have a lemon? Disappointing that it defected so quickly.
Strawberryrayne –
Wear it for work and have zero issues with it. Comfortable to wear and good sound
NoahS –
great when im watching videos on smartphone something different
MoniqueB –
My brother is ALWAYS on his phone. Whether he’s at the track with his car, or at a football game. I can’t stand ear buds and purchased this for him for Christmas. (I wasn’t sure if they would be too bulky.) He loves them.
ReeseHurcher –
Sometimes it works ok with Sony TV but other times volume is too low even at 100 max Bluetooth volume. Defect? Not sure. I’ll try to exchange when restocked.
MDas –
Overall I liked the product. Its easy to have it on your neck and no more hassle plugging earpods
DanS –
Excellent! Even better than we anticipated. The music sound just being there around your neck is incredible. Perfect quality yet others around tou barely hear it.
