This is the recommended kit by GE. I used the video online from GE to install this kit. It was fairly straightfoward. I had an issue with the small tab to keep the tube supported, but overall, got the job done

That little stick-on tab.. meant to hold your new dryer vent pipe in place.. it’s complete trash. The one I got, the adhesive wasn’t even sticky, plus with the tabs on the elbow pipe where the were and how the whole pipe situated in the dryer, the sticky tab was supposed to adhere half on the bottom knockout and half on the curved sheet metal bottom of the dryer. I just drilled a hole in the curved sheet metal and used the screw to attach the elbow to the bottom of the dryer. Threw the adhesive tab in the trash.

Stupid price for a hunk of metal. You don’t even use all the prices, but I suppose it’s necessary. We shopped online and even the generic kits cost around the same. But if you need the side vent, there are no alternatives and would not consider any DIY solutions due to potential safety hazards.

Couldn’t have gotten the job done without it. Very heavy duty/durable.

Product is fine; two concerns. First is the price, pretty steep for a few pieces of sheet metal. That aside, the real issue is if you need to vent out the left side. The issue is less with this kit and more with the dryer itself. There is a wiring harness in the way, you will have to pull two clamps off from the bottom of the dryer and push the wires out of the way. I wrapped the wires with several layers of electrical tape for bot insulation against heat as well as in case they would rub against a sharp edge since they are no longer clamped to the frame. I knew this before I bought it from another review, GE even acknowledges this is an issue with left side venting. It’s not hard to make the necessary adjustments, it’s just an engineering design flaw. This is not an issue with right side venting. And rather than use the adhesive retaining piece for the new piece of vent since other reviewers said it doesn’t stick well, I used a self-tapping sheet metal screw to attach the bracket to the frame.

the equipment is good and works well. The problem is that I wasn’t notified that I needed this. It of course increase the price of the total purchase

Nice kit if you need to redirect your dryer vent. Most of the parts can be purchased at a hardware store with the exception of the back panel cover, but you definitely want that too.

The cover for the hole for the back of the machine did not fit this dryer. (It was side vented) the correct cover is an additional $50. The installer just put ducked take over it.
