ForeverMeek2012 –
I had purchased the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 to replace my Acer Predator X35 as my primary gaming and productivity monitor. Luckily, the monitor was part of Best Buy’s Deal of the Day and on sale for $1,199.99 so it was an automatic impulse purchase. I also had $600 in Best Buy rewards so this monitor was more than “affordable”. Anyhow, below are my pro(s) and con(s),
Pro(s):
* FALD
* LED (not OLED so no burn-in issues)
* Design
* Easy UI
* Resolution
* Great for productivity
* Affordable (at time of purchase)
Con(s)
* Two dead pixels (or dust particles under the screen) – this is actually my second of the same monitor – first monitor had dead and stuck pixels so it was exchanged to this monitor. I decided I could live with the two (2) “dead” pixels instead of dealing with the hassle of packing, returning, exchanging and possibly repeating again.
* No Display Port 2.1
* No USB-C Port

This monitor keeps having issues with the Display Port and I have to remove and reconnect the display port cable from the video card (GTX 3080 TI) to reconnect every day or two. You have to pull the plastic from the back to access the video ports. I have even had to reset the monitor a few times. It isn’t the type of PLUG AND PLAY we would expect at this price point. I have attempted to troubleshoot this with the graphics card but even with all the latest drivers we continue to have issues. Unless you have a specific case use for the monitor I would save the money and buy TWO 27-inch monitors.

Wow this is a great value and in immersive experience

Nice monitor to work with. Definitely needs some getting used to but its so much bettyer than having 2 or 3 or 4 screens.

I like having the single monitor (weal to 2×27). I like the ability to put my Mac and windows machine in PIP with my work Windows 2/3 and 1/3 Mac Personal. I then switch it around on weekends and evenings. Both machines handle the 49 inch monitor well. No special graphics car on my windows machine (Dell 3140) and it is crisp text and bright screen. The ability to switch my PIP for two machines and different sizes or full screen for one machine is great. Again, my work computer has wimpy graphics and the monitor still performs great. I also like it is mini-led and not the OLED, so I don’t get burn in from my tool bars.
ComputersAreCool –
excellent picture with the QLED display. especially with dark backgrounds. Easily the best option for computers as OLEDs are a terrible choice because of how many static images are on desktops, windows, games, task bar that can quickly cause burnin, ruining your monitor.
only downsides I have had are the picture can bug out every once in a while. a quick power cycle of the monitor will solve the problem for a few days. the stand is also massive and takes a ton of desk space. so beware if your desk is shallow.
lots of screen real-estate. bright accurate colors, responsive image. gaming on it with a game that supports 5120×1440 is fantastic!

I say service I had a very heavy object and that was understood I appreciate the on demand service unlike the service I receive on the phone that you to 622 broadway noho staff
ClericM –
Nice screen but the Oled model is better, lighter and has a nicer HDR look
ChristopherK –
Worked incredibly for 2 years and shortly after a green line appeared down the center of the screen.
AKMac –
the screen is great and always draws wows from everyone when they walk into my office

Let me start with the statement that I love using this monitor. I’m a developer and the monitor provides so much screen real estate that I never feel like I’m lacking space to review code (side-by-side) etc.
I pair this with an M2 MacBook Pro.
First the bad:
* When the macbook is plugged into the monitor after a period of time, the screen defaults to mirror mode and the resolutuion is not right.
* Even when mirror is turned off sometime the machine loses the max resolution and defaults to a HiDPI resolution. This is only frustrating because I need to unplug and plug the monitor back in.
* 60Hz looks bad and I need to set to 120hz for quality of monitor (60hz has lines across the screen)
This is all with a TB3 dock and displayport native from the dock.
Now the Good:
* Bright and easy to read
* The dual display (two machines split into 2-side-by-side ultrawides, especially with software to share mouse/kbd) is brilliant!
* Did I mention huge screen realestate and coupled with the 1000R curve, easy to see everything without craning in weird angles.
My biggest complain is simply that it’s not the new 57″ with dual 4k screens baked in. I do not hesitate to recommend this monitor for productivity needs like I have. While the issues are annoying, these are not deal breakers and generally easy to remedy (I believe a new TB4 dock with DP 1.4 or HDMI2.1 might resolve some of the issue I see).

Good monitor for work and gaming, high quality and worth for every penny’s

PSA: 1. MOUNT this monitor. The desk stand is lame and bad. 2. YOU DO NOT NEED a $400 Ergotron HX mount. Ignore the nerds on Reddit and the marketing propaganda. I bought a $90 mount off Amazon (by Forging Mount) with a 43in fully articulating arm, and it holds this thing just fine. Now onto the review:
Legitimately stunning. My first ultrawide monitor. I have a 65in HiSense 4k TV in the same room that is covered in dust because I forget that it exists. Would literally be perfect if this monitor was 2160p vertical like the 57in version that just released, but at the same time that’s a lot of pixels to drive. Note if you’re using this with PC that I have a 4070 Ti and driving this at 5120x1440p WILL make you struggle to stay up above 60 FPS with max settings on new games if you don’t have a 4090, so plan accordingly.
MarcoC –
Monitor is huge and very high quality, absolutely love it and use it all the time
JohnJ –
This monitor makes all games much mor realistic and challenging. Very pleased with my purchase.
WayneS –
This Monitor is beautiful, responsive, love the Picture in Picture, and Multiple Inputs. Just wish the rear light was brighter, Might as well not have included it with as dim as it is.
Kenny –
Drove over 2 hours to pick up the monitor and it was flickering when everything was hooked up
Zippyzip –
Incredible. The price is def on the high side, so buy it on sale for sure. The peak brightness is insane in a good way. If the games you play support 32:9 (RDR2) it will ruin playing on 16:9 display. My 3080 ti FTW was made for this monitor.
CalebJ –
Absolutely love the picture. Vibrant, bright, crystal clear. High refresh rate was immediately noticeable.
Cons:
Tiniest of pixel stuck red after long gaming sessions. Does go away and is barely noticeable, but is annoying considering the cost. Debating on if its worth RMAing. Updating the firmware requires a USB. Process failed multiple times then randomly worked. Pretty frustrating but haven’t needed to update since.
Goal10dr –
Game changer, litterally. Gaming (and office work) is unbelievable on this monitor. You get to see so much more of your game.
MarquiseG –
Amazing AMAZING and AMAZING.. i love this monitor..
Willard –
This monitor is awsome. It has everything built in to run 3 or 4 windows for work and 1 giant one for gaming. Just be sure to put it together before taking it all the way out of the box.
EricH –
Pretty schweet. Minecraft doesnt work properly though on it.
GizelleH –
My boyfriend loves this monitor it was perfect
If ur thinking of getting one get it!
OsvaldoB –
My first ultrawide monitor and i love it looks great
JamesJ –
Works good. Not liking the constant popping sounds from the video ports. Been doing this since i bought this. Other reviews from amazon talk about same sounds so not much we can do about it that it seems.
PabloP –
I bought this monitor on 11/01/2023, so far its been fantastic. I use it for gaming and productivity (excel sheets). I paired it with a 4090 and its been a delight to use it. I did get motion sickness from a game for the very first time in my life ( I have played tons of VR games without an issue), so it is something to get used to definitely, but once I did, the immersion is astonishing. I also like that I am able to connect multiple PCs to it and do either PbP or one PC at the time with full 240 htz. I currently have 2 more monitors hovering over it and honestly, I think I will get rid of them, this monitor has plenty of display area for me. Setting up was easy and manageable. The hardest part is figuring out which version you are getting, the Oled vrs the Neo, and which year. These are important factors when deciding which monitor to buy. The Neo is a QLED which doesn’t have the same color accuracy than an OLED does, but I do prefer the QLED more.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I hope this monitor last for a while.
Fern –
Randomly get black screens and unknown reason. Can be outdated drivers or Nvidia doesn’t support dual monitor with this size.
RevDecay –
I love my ultra wide monitors. This would be the 2nd one I have bought. Unfortunately dead pixels with the neo.
Josue –
The monito itself is great with a few draw backs that prevents it from hitting 4 or 5 stars. The stand could have been designed differently to take less room. Also when in full screen, the screen will glitch to a dark screen, would flicker between two displays, and also has portions of the left screen boarder flicker.
Machinist2326 –
This has been great for work or gaming. Crisp and bright colors and the size is awesome.
Hersh –
Awesome monitor. Did not have any issues unpacking and unit was fully operational. Really mind-blowing once you get it set up. Very large, detailed screen.
Nerdkiller –
Incredible monitor but your gonna need a 4090rtx to use the 240hz imagining
GuadalupeD –
My wife made this purchase for me. I don’t use this as a gaming monitor. It is used mainly so I don’t have to purchase 2 monitors. There was a flaw on the first one. The customer service at the BestBuy in Selma Texas assisted with the exchange procedure. Unfortunately, it was past the return period. But was assisted and offered the protection plan at a discount. My apologies I do not recall the name of those involved who assisted with the exchange. The replacement was received and have since had no issues with it. I am very extremally satisfied with this. I was somewhat concerned with the reviews from others who purchased also. But for the moment I am very content of the quality of this monitor. And yes, I would most definitely recommend this, however like in all electronics there may be a possibility that one may have issues, and then again one may not. Thank you to all the staff of the BestBuy store in Selma, Texas

Very pleased with my Odyssey Neo G9. Excellent picture quality. Huge field of view. I do wish it had integrated speakers but I knew that coming in.

Great Monitor. Ease of Use. Good Quality. I recommend this item.

Awesome monitor, great style, affordable – can’t go wrong!
ShannonJ –
love the display and the colors are so vivid very happy with monitor
Budoy –
I have been using this monitor for productivity purposes, and I must say that it has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and functionality. Its size is amazing for maximizing screen real estate.
JessyP –
Just as advertised. Amazing monitor completes my SIM rig look! Highly recommend it.
Fnmoron –
I bought this for work and it is wonderful to be able to see several open screens at the same time even during a Teams meeting. One complaint, even though I ordered the black model and it says black on the box, I got the white model which I am ok with as I can’t see the back when using it and the front frame is black anyway so it kind of a moot point. It did make me nervous that it didn’t have the protector film on the screen like was on a youtube video I was watching when assembling it. It does have some intermittent distortion on the sides of the screen which I have learned do not happen if I fully boot my computer before powering on the monitor. Makes my work life much better!
JuanandresE –
Loved this whenever it worked. The first two weeks were great than the panel died after my return period. Took two-three months for Samsung to fix it and it replaced it with a new one. Now it’s failing again ugh
PrinceIsJah –
Just wanna say that this monitor is only worth it when it’s on sale got this one for $800 off during the Black Friday weekend and is well worth it when on sale. Now if you purchase this monitor for full price just know that It has a few issues. HDR is a bit finicky when enable in windows. Parts of the panel do flicker/flash during bright seen, the blooming that happens during vibrant scenes does look bad at times but if you play around with the windows hdr setting and use a high quality DP cable, you should have no issues. Don’t know how some of these panels passes QC but I I’d experience most of the same issues I’ve seen others post about in Reddit. Essie’s all of that it’s a beautiful monitor.
CurtisS –
I love the 49″ monitor for day trading. Fast refresh rate and clear. Im currently purchasing another one.
ITAficienado –
I own two, 49 inch versions of this monitor. They work great within Windows. If used in an Apple environment, while using DP1.4 to Thunderbolt, one will probably have an issue. I have been trying to use the monitor with my Macbook Pro for approximately the last 8 months, to no avail. I have even received a call from Apple engineering, asking me questions as to what issues I am having. Essentially, it would appear that Apple has not answer to make the monitor work with their ecosystem.
AaronH –
Great monitor with excellent HDR, would recommend!
JonathanR –
Loved the width of it but not the height felt rather counter intuitive otherwise very nice monitor
