    Summary:
If a rotary-style shaver is your thing, or you’re interested in trying one out, you can’t go wrong with this one. It is very comfortable to hold, extremely quiet and has a surprisingly functional automatic cleaning base. The cleaning base is not a charger, though, so you still have to plug it in occasionally, but you can put this anywhere that’s convenient for daily use and cleaning even if an outlet is not nearby.

    Pros:
    * Extremely quiet operation.
    * Does a great job for this style of shaver.
    * Long use between charges.
    * Cleaning base doesn’t require power so it can go anywhere.
    * Auto-cleaning cycle with a single button press.
    * AC adapter is small and designed not to block nearby outlets.

    Cons:
    * Cleaning base relies on air drying so it takes a while to be ready for the next use.
    * Provided carry case is large.
    * No drop-in charger – requires plugging in with provided AC adapter.

    Setup:
The shaver itself requires no setup aside from initial charging. Plug in the provided AC adapter to the shaver and the wall and the display indicates charging status. Easy enough! Just be aware that you can’t use it while it’s charging, but a full charge is about an hour with a quick charge for a single use in about 5 minutes.

The provided cleaning base is really simple but works well. There is a disposable Quick Clean Cartridge that you need to replace about once a month depending on your use. Open the Quick Clean Pod by rotating the lid and lifting it off, then peel off the cartridge’s cover, place the cartridge inside the pod and put the Pod’s lid back on. That’s it.

    Typical Usage:
There is a power button to turn the shaver on or off and also put it in travel lock mode. There is also a power level switch to adjust the speed/comfort of the shaver. I’ve been using a foil-type shaver for years so that’s what I’m used to. The instructions say it takes up to a week to get used to switching things up and I agree. That said, this did a great job on 5 days of stubble as well as a 2 day shadow. It was remarkably quiet even compared to my pricey foil-type shaver.

I will say that the design of this shaver didn’t work as well as my foil shaver on my chin, under my nose or at my ears/sideburns. It worked great everywhere else, though. A single use consumed about 7% of the battery, so doing the simple math, that’s over 14 uses between charges. If used every-other-day, that’s nearly a month between charges! Great for week-long trips since you don’t need to carry the cord.

The provided Quick Clean Pod has no motor, lights or power. It is merely a well-designed holder for the cleaning cartridge that the shaver fits into upside-down. My foil shaver uses a similar type of cleaning solution and base but has pumps, air driers and power pass-through so that shaver not only cleans, but dries and charges while inverted in it. This shaver’s pod only cleans the shaver after which it air dries. There is no power cord connected to the pod so the shaver doesn’t charge when inserted.

Even though this might seem like a lesser design, it actually works really well. Plus, since there’s no cord connected to the cleaning base, you can put it anywhere that’s convenient and only plug in the AC adapter when you need to charge the shaver – again about once or twice a month for typical use.

After shaving, pop open the cutter assembly with a spring-loaded tab, tap out any loose stubble, then close the assembly, invert the shaver and rest it on the Quick Clean Pod. Press the power button on the shaver and it goes into an automatic self-cleaning mode for 1 minute then turns itself off. Leave the shaver upside-down on the Pod to drain for a bit and then it’s ready to use long before the next day. Even though the pod doesn’t charge the shaver, you still might get up to a month between charges depending on your use. Replacing the Quick Clean Pod’s cartridge is super easy – just unscrew the Pod’s lid, throw out the old cartridge and drop in a new one.

By the way, the shaving head pops off and can be swapped with the provided trimmer attachment for sideburns, etc…

This kit also includes a carrying case for travel use. It holds the shaver, the trimmer attachment and the AC charger. The cleaning base isn’t meant to be moved since the cleaning liquid will slosh around and spill. The case is OK but given that you probably won’t need to take the AC charger with you for typical week-long trips, the case is a bit larger than necessary. I would prefer a smaller case that is more form-fitting for just the shaver and leave the rest at home when traveling.

    Conclusion:
Incredibly quiet with a long-lasting battery and a useful put-anywhere auto-cleaning base to keep it ready for use. If a rotary-style shaver meets your needs, this is a really nice one!

I’ve owned several Norelco shavers over the years, but this Philips-Norelco S9000 was like going from an SUV to a sports car! It’s a very attractive yet functional design that fits and balances very well into my hand. One of its best features is hard to miss, as it displays the actual battery charge status on the front display when it is moved or powered on. Oddly, there is also a low-battery indicator light. Other indicators in the display tell you when it’s time to clean it or change the shaving heads. Besides the large power button there is a rocker switch to adjust the shaving mode.

The shaving head has a similar triple layout to my older unit, but they are in a more splayed-out pattern, putting them farther apart and making the overall shaver head larger. Being used to the old dimensions, it took me a few shaves to get the hang of the new configuration, but I found that it made it easier to get into and around some of the tougher spots such as under the nose. The individual heads flex a lot to get over curves such as around my chin. Overall a nice design and it gives a very close shave. I always shave dry but this shaver will work in the shower or with shaving gel.

Unlike the usual pop-up trimmer of most shavers, the S9000 uses a removable trimmer that you insert after pulling off the main shaving head. At first I didn’t care for this since it’s one more part to keep track of, but then I found that it makes it a lot easier to see what I’m doing with the trimmer on top – for example when squaring up my sideburns – than with a pop-up trimmer on the side. It’s more like having a separate personal trimmer device.

One unique thing included with the shaver is the cleaning pod, which consists of a part to hold the shaver and contains a replaceable cartridge with the cleaning solution. This is all new to me and since I have only had the shaver for a short time I have not tried it out, but it looks like a good way to clean the shaver at the cost of buying refills in the future.

The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is the best electric shaver I have ever used. As a package, this is a premium item. It comes with a very nice carrying case with room for the shaver, precision trimmer, brush, and charging cord. It also comes with a quick clean pod and cartridge. The shaver itself is largely metallic silver with black rubber handling area. The shaver has a square push on/off power button, comfort increase/decrease toggle button, and a LED display. The power cord plugs into the bottom for charging, which takes about an hour for a full charge of 60 usage minutes. If you need a shave in a quick pinch, it can charge enough for one shave in five minutes. I like that the LED turns on to show the remaining the power percentage with any motion of the shaver. The shaver can be locked so that neither the shaver nor the display turns on during travel, but it is nice to get details without turning it on. Of note is that the power cord is a complete part, and you don’t need to supply the wall adapter. The quick clean pod is a nice touch. It allows the shaver to stand vertically so that the head can be cleaned via a 1 minute cleaning cycle as the head is immersed into cleaning fluid. The shaver can be used on dry and wet skin, just make sure to clean it with water or the cleaning pod after each use. It can be used in the shower or bathtub, as expected from a shaver. I have been using it to shave my face and neck with dry skin, and it does a great job. My skin feels incredibly smooth, like the shave was done with a straight razor. I kept in on the middle (dynamic) comfort setting and I haven’t noticed any irritation. I used the precision trimmer around my moustache and it did a good job. After I was done, I opened the head to rinse out the cut hair, flicked the water drops off, and placed it to the side. I tried a cordless shaver a few years ago and did not like how it cut, but this has been the complete opposite experience. It cuts well, maintenance is easy, and the LED will show you if there are any issues like if the head needs cleaned or if it is time to replace the head (about once a year). The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige may be the shaver that makes me put away my straight razor. It is a premium product that any man in your life will be thankful to receive.

The Norelco S9000 Prestige Electric Razor provides a close, comfortable shave with three settings to choose from for maximum shaving ability and comfort. However, the lack of trimmer embedded on the razor is one of the drawbacks of the S9000 Prestige.

    Pros
    – Comfortable Shave
    – Quick Charging
    – Easy clean

    Cons
    – Attachable Trimmer
    – Lack of Pressure Light Sensor

The Norelco S9000 Prestige has three different settings for comfortable shaving. Out of the box, the shaver is set to the second bar on the razor. While testing the standard setting, I found that it was adequate; I tried this during a dry shave. I set the the razor on the third bar to see the difference, and although I felt that the shave was better (I felt that minimal stubble was left behind on the second setting) the third provided a smoother shave, but I felt some irritation (I do not have the best skin, which I will admit). The first bar setting did not shave as well, but I did not have any irritation. More so, anyone with sensitive or easily irritated skin, keep in mind that there are settings/adjustments you can make to find the most comfortable, accurate shave. I will admit, this was a great feature; I will continue to stick with the second bar setting while shaving.

Out of the box, it took approximately fifteen minutes to charge. Though, while I used the razor for a couple of days and I maxed out the battery, it took approximately one hour to charge the razor. If anyone is in a hurry and forgot to charge their razor, note that the razor’s charging ability is fast.

Cleaning is easy and the razor reminds you after using it to place it on the stand (included) and clean it using the pod solution (included). It takes approximately one minute for the razor to clean itself. The solution smells great and I opened the razor to check how well it cleaned, and I can report that razor cleaning performed exceptionally. However, note that once your cleaning solution begins to get “full” of hairs after so many cleans, you will need to buy more solution pods. Though this could add up, it’s not necessary to clean your razor. The razor is waterproof, so you can simply open the razor and run it under water to clean.

Though the razor itself provides a comfortable, smooth shave. Where it lacks is the detached trimmer (included). Mind you, I had a three-day beard going and I wanted to trim it down before shaving. I popped off the shaving head and attached the trimmer. You can use the power settings I described previously for the trimmer settings. However, while I tried out the standard second bar setting, I found that it was pulling/tugging at the hairs on my face. Also, I changed the setting to the third bar setting (hoping it would improve the trimming function) and sadly, it did not perform as well either. Additionally, the trimmer is an attachment, whereas the previous 9000 model was built-in. For someone who places their razor on the cleaning pod and leaves it there until the next day to shave, there is no place to keep the trimmer when not in use. Granted, a travel case is included and you can keep it in there. But this becomes combersome when I need to quickly switch between shaving and trimming.

Lastly, the previous 9000 Norelco Razor had built-in sensor lights. Meaning, when you shave the razor will light up in different colors (blue, green, and yellow). Blue being too light, green “just right” and yellow “too much pressure.” This feature was not included in the S9000 Prestige, which I feel would benefit from that feature. As you watch yourself shaving in the mirror, having a light indicator guide you while shaving helps ensure you are shaving properly and comfortably.

Overall, the Norelco Prestige S9000 provides the best shave; it’s comfortable, smooth, and shaving settings allow the three-head flexible shaver to perform exceptionally on any skin sensitivity. However, it’s downfall is the trimmer accessory where functionality and performance fell below expectations.

I would recommend the Norelco Prestige S9000 to anyone who wants a great shave and can look past the trimming portion; it still performs but not as good as it has.

  5. Matt

The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is a truly fantastic electric shaver that I cannot recommend enough. It provides a close, quick shave that I can do inside the shower or out due to its showerproof nature. Previous electric shavers that I owned really didn’t provide a close enough shave for my tastes and often left me bleeding. I have quite sensitive skin so I tend to be pretty picky when it comes to shaving. With the S9000 I had a wonderful time. It only upset my skin once, but I realized that was my fault as I was shaving too long, and not doing the proper circular shaving technique.
It’s elegantly designed to the point that I have no qualms leaving it out on the bathroom counter. Same with the quick clean pod which you simply set your shaver down on after shaving and it thoroughly cleans the head with minimal work from you. I don’t love that it’s another replacement product that I have to buy, but it works so well that I am alright with it. Also, don’t clean it immediately before using as that cleaning fluid will drip down the front of you, always clean the head after.
Overall this is one of the best shavers on the market and well worth the price. While I would love to have this shaver charge via USB-C along with the rest of my gadgets for easier travel, the included charger is quite compact and fits nicely in the beautiful travel case. If you’re looking for a top of the line shaver, look no further!

    Pros:
    A great, close shave
    Elegantly designed
    Long battery life
Quick clean pod cleans shaver thoroughly
    Showerproof
    Wet/Dry shaving
    Cons:
Would love USB-C charging for easier travel
Have to swap heads for sideburns trimmer
Quick clean pod is one more replacement product to buy

My son has been in search of the perfect shaving tool that is easy to use for a young man just starting out with shaving but is quality made. He was more than excited to give this one a try. Previously he had only used traditional disposable razors and an electric shaver that started out fitting his needs but the quality was short lived. Because this was his first time using this style of shaver it was definitely a little bit of a learning curve but nothing too complex. His job doesn’t require him to be clean shaven but there isn’t a lot of wiggle room for length so while he doesn’t have to shave daily he does need to do it every 7-10 days so he was looking for something that could give him a close enough shave where he could continue that schedule. While this one doesn’t give him the absolute close shave of a traditional razor blade this definitely fit his needs. What he loved most is how it didn’t irritate his skin which is always a concern although he definitely prefers the more comfortable wet shave over dry. He also loves the easy cleaning via the cleaning pod. Time will tell how long the blades truly last before he needs to replace them but so far he seems pretty happy with this model.

After being away from electric razors for some time, I was able to give a slightly less robust Norelco a try. Now, while I was very pleased with how that one performed, I have to say I have come away even more impressed with this model. I think I can easily say it is the best electric razor I have ever used.

The shaver itself is well-built, a good weight, feels good in the hand, and, perhaps most importantly, fits very well in my hand. It just looks like a quality and premium device. The main button is responsive and the LED screen is clear, easy to understand and provides all the relevant data you might need (Battery % Indicator, Cleaning Indicator, Battery Low Indicator, Replacement Head Indicator, Travel Lock Indicator). From a hardware perspective, it is all good. It looks good too.

Beyond the shaver itself, you get the quick clean pod (with one cartridge), a fairly nice travel pouch, a precision trimmer, a cleaning brush, and the power cord. Pretty much all you need.

While all of these things are “good” to see, frankly, given this is a somewhat premium product in this space, what is really important to me is how it shaves. As I mentioned earlier, I have mostly been away from electric for some time, so I was a bit hesitant given my past experiences. To put it simply, I could not be happier with how well this shaver worked for me. So far, it has given me close, comfortable, and smooth shaves. Every time. Full stop. Quiet. Quick. Wet. Dry. No discomfort. I can’t say that I fully get all the “tech” involved here, but the shaver glides very easily over my face, doesn’t get caught up, and seems to hit all the angles my face throws at it. I have a pretty sensitive face (another reason I had some concerns) and some pretty thick facial hair, but I just haven’t had any problems. It just wasn’t something I was expecting and was a nice surprise. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Thankfully, cleanup is not only easy, but, honestly, I think kind of cool. The pod system is pretty simple, intuitive, and just works. I am not exactly loving the economics of replacements, but this is something I will have to explore and see how it all plays out.

Lastly, I also have to say that I am pleased with the battery life. Charges are relatively quick, and I will easily get quite a few shaves out of a single, full charge.

In the end, this is a great shaver, and I could not be more pleased with how it has worked for me. It has a great feature-set, cleanup is a breeze, and it does everything I need and want very well, and it does it comfortably.

The Philips Norelco S9000 is the top tier Electric Razor experience! If you are like me you never splurged for the nicer shavers, I mean they are expensive right!? Well my friend, your time has come. Step into a premium shaving experience and see what you have been missing out on all of these years! This shaver does it all! The closest shave of any electric razor I have ever used! On top of that it has a trimmer attachment that works like a dream! But who wants to break down an electric razor and clean it all the time? No one! And you don’t have to because the S9000 has a cleaning pod that does all the work for you, how awesome is that? In addition to being great on my face I also use the Norelco S9000 Prestige to shave my head! That saves me so much time every day, it used to be a whole process and now I can knock it out in just a couple minutes with zero shaving cream or mess! How easy! I am very glad I finally got an elite razor, it really stands out from the pack with all of the features!

  9. BHTurnow

This is simply the best electric razor made. The closest shave I have ever gotten from an electric razor. This thing is all quality. Clearly well designed and well built. It feels great in your hand. It includes everything you need! I have owned many electric razors in the past and they are great for everyday shaving, but never come close to a real razor. This electric razor is the closest to a real razor shave you can get. I almost can’t tell the difference. The cut is so smooth. More importantly, it is irritation and knick free. I use this to shave my face as well as my head. Almost zero redness after using this on my head. Usually I get small red ideation patches. Not with this one. Cleanup is a breeze and the included cleaning kit makes it a home-run. The unit charges quickly and does not get hot. When you pick up this unit, you think one thing. Quality. Seriously. It is the finest electric razor I have owned. You can use this razor wet or dry. I like to put a thin layer of shave gel on my face and use Head Slick in my head. For me it’s the perfect combination. I highly recommend this unit. It is worth the extra cost to buy this unit. I see this unit lasting for MANY years. Love it!!!!

  10. Mama5

I cant speak highly enough about the Norelco S9000 prestige! The close cut shave on this shaver is outstanding! Holding it is comfortable and lightweight, it glides across your face and moves with the curves of your face. It has a pressure guard sensor that allows you to know what pressure ypu need to apply to get a perfect shave. It self sharpens you dont have to worry about the blades going dull. It is easy to work using the OLED display. I love that it is cordless and has a quick clean pod that drep cleans it in 1 minute so i dont have to manually clean it. It being customized to your skin gives you a perfect tailored shave. Overall this shaver gives me a precise quick clean shave easily and effectively in no time, it adopts to every curve in my face with ease, very easy to work, and takes seconds to clean it without having to do it manually and waste time! After using this shaver i dont think anything else can match the work that this one does in such little time. I highly recommend getting this shaver!

    THE BREAKDOWN:

The Philips Norelco 9000 Prestige Series Shaver (SP9841/84) is a rechargeable wet/dry shaver with included beard trimmer attachment. The trimmer also comes with a premium carrying case and cleaning brush. This shaver delivers a decently smooth shave and I have to admit with less skin irritation than my other electric shaver.

The shaver came packaged in retail packaging. It was very well put together. Inside the box was the Shaver, a premium case/pouch, power/charging cord, small cleaning brush and cleaning pod cartridge. The shaver battery was almost completed depleted when it arrived. I fully charged the battery before first use. You can also charge the battery for one hour and it gives about 60 minutes of shaves and depending on the time you take to shave. This shaver has ultraflex suspension system that does a good job of keeping contact with your skin. The heads are also surrounded by hydro skinglide coating for minimum friction and maximum comfort. I found them to work very well. They also claim that they have 150,000 cutting actions per minute and that it also has 72 self-sharpening blades. For the week that I have used this I cannot really tell if they do self-sharpen. I used the shaver in both wet and dry conditions, and both seemed to work well. I did not notice any difference in either condition. The trimmer did not work as well as advertised, I felt as if it just pulled my hair. The shaver came with a cleaning base that cleans and lubricates in just a minute. I felt that this feature worked well and for me the only drawback is that you have to keep buying the pods to clean your shaver. The LED display on the shaver itself was great and intuitive. I normally shave about every 3 to 4 days and my beard grows pretty fast and this would do a great job and did zero pulling. The shaver is very quiet to previous shavers that I have owned. You can still have a conversation while using it.

    PRO’s:

    -Shower Proof
    -Lithium-Ion battery
    -Super quiet
    -Great display
    -Wet or Dry shave

    CON’s:

    -Replace the pod cleaning solution
-The trimmer attachment doesn’t work well

    SUMMARY:

Overall, this product worked well and as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for device like this.

I will start by saying that I have used every high end brand of electric shavers. I have been using a competitor for years but the Norelco changed my opinion on who is best. What I really like is the shaver charges fast, cleans fast, and gives a close shave. Many competitors on the market take a lot of time to clean and are noisy, The Norelco is fast at cleaning and the quietest one I have seen. It cleans fast-in one minute. When shaving, you get a close shave, I can’t tell any difference compared to other high end brands. The Norelco shaves much faster is quiet and much gentler. The foil shavers vibrate back and forth and are noisy and clunky. The Norelco is so much smoother and fairly silent. You can adjust the speed of the blades rotate in case your skin is sensitive. The cleaning pod is easy to use and keeps the Norelco clean and smelling fresh. It comes with a case and a dock for the cleaning solution. The one unique trait is the side burn trimmer is separate and your have to take off the shaver head to use. It does not flip up like most other shavers. Nothing is perfect and everything else about this shaver outstanding. After using the Norelco, I believe it is the best on the market.

  13. Gizmo

The first thing you should notice about the Norelco 9000 rotary shaver when you unbox it is the beautiful design. This might sound strange since I’m writing about a shaver, but it’s very nice looking! Inside the box, you’ll find the shaver, a fairly large travel case, a Quick-Clean Pod with fluid cartridge, a corded charger, a small cleaning brush and the user manual. It takes about an hour to charge fully and should last 60 minutes. A quick charge of just 5 minutes should be enough energy for 1 use. The included travel case is nice, a bit on the large side, large enough to hold the shaver, charging cable and the click on precision trimmer attachment.

The 9000 is fairly lightweight and very comfortable to hold. The notched rubber part on the back is shaped so your finger can fit right in and grip it comfortably. The fit and finish on this razor is incredible. The sound this shaver makes sounds high tech and very quiet. When I compared the S9000 to the Norelco 7000 series shaver, the S9000 sounds much nicer, more quiet, a smoother and almost high tech sound. The 7000, while not a bad shaver at all, sounds less refined and louder.
I use the shaver dry, you can use this in the shower with gels and shaving cream if you wish. The shave is as close as any other electric shaver I’ve used. The 3 heads pivot individually to contour to your face. I found the pivoting heads to work very well, it shaved off all my stubbles very quickly and with minimal effort. With my foil shaver, I have to go over a few times and look closely in a well-lit area to make sure I got all my stubbles. Once done, simply press the release button in front of the rotary shaver to pop open the top and rinse off with water (after each use).

With this trimmer, there is no pop up trimmer on the back, which I find very convenient and use all the time. Instead, you have to take off the rotary heads by pulling straight up (I was uncomfortable the first time I did this, I was worried I would break it) and replacing it with the trimming attachment. I couldn’t help noticing that this trimming attachment didn’t do as good a job on my sideburns as my current foil shaver did. I think it’s because of the size of the “teeth”, the teeth and the gaps in between on the Norelco is wider than my current foil shaver. It seems the sacrificed convenience over form factor when designing this shaver. With the notch on the back where your finger comfortably sits, that is where most shavers would have the hair trimmer built in instead of having to swap out the unit.
This shaver also takes less time, probably due to the 3 heads covers more surface area. After using the Norelco for several days, I gotten used to the Norelco. It does the job quickly, the shaver itself is more quiet than my foil shaver. I don’t find the app that useful, not sure what shave history does for me. It seems like every device has an app these days, whether it needs it or not.

Also included with this shaver is the quick clean pod. Once you do it once and understand how it works, it’s quite convenient to use. In a nutshell, you open the liquid and place the entire container into the pod container. There’s a little ring you snap to give you a carrying handle to lift into and out of the cleaning pod. Then place cleaning pod lid back on and place shaver in and press the start button. The shaver will know to go into clean mode, in 1 minute, it will be done. Depending how often you use the cleaning solution, you might have to replace it after a month (daily use) or 3 months (weekly use) – $12 for 2 pods.

The Norelco S9000 is a beautiful device, it’s for the person who appreciates design and form factor, not so much for someone that is on a budget or demands practicality. Know what you are getting, there are rotary shavers that are less expensive that does a similar job. Much like a luxury car vs. budget car, they both get you to the same place, but which would you rather drive?

  14. Highly Excellent

***TLDR:*** This is a quality investment if you want a fast, pain free shave across the contours of your neck and face.

***BUILD QUALITY:*** The shaver is built from a mixture of plastic, rubber and steel and feels nice to hold. I won’t be drop testing it, but I think you could still have a functional item even after an accident.

***COMFORT:*** Shaving with the unit is smooth and pain free, given your skin is relatively free of goose-bumps. Being that you get a very close shave, it could definitely give you a “burn”.

***SPEED:*** This S9000 makes short work of short hair. It’s faster than a razer and just as close. The motor can also be adjusted to fit your preference. Keep in mind I used it with a light amount of basic (Barbasol) shaving cream.

***BATTERY/CHARGING:*** Battery charging is fast and life is long lasting. A full shave only took the unit down from 100 to 94. Charging the unit is relatively pain free if you use the cleaning pod to hold the shaver, though attaching the cord (from a 15V, two prong charger) took considerable pressure. I would prefer something USB C, but most things like this have an old-school charger.

***CLEANING:*** CLEANING the unit is simple. I rinse it and shake it, then use the cleaning pod to get it even better, letting it sit to dry off. For a deeper clean, the shaving head can be easily fully disassembled.

***STORAGE:*** The shaver doesn’t fit very well in the carrying case with the shaving head attached. This isn’t really a problem for me, as I won’t be traveling with it. For me, the carry case holds the trimmer attachment, cleaning brush, and manual, as the procedures (read: learning curve) are kind of substantial. For my use, sitting it in the cleaning pod – up and away from where my son can get it – is good enough.

***DISPLAY:*** The display tells you multiple useful things in a clear and bright manner. It’s a great addition for feedback on mode and charge state.

***OVERALL:*** A larger, better-fitting carrying case and USB C charging would make this a knockout, stand-out device. For my needs, these are only minor nitpicks, however, so I give it full marks.

I’ll admit that I’ve been pretty old school regarding shaving over the years. I usually buy the bulk pack of disposable razors from the big box store and have done ok with that. But recent medical events have caused me to have to be on a blood thinner, and those shaving nicks and cuts can bleed quite a bit more once you’re on those. I wanted to switch to an electric razor, but past experiences weren’t very good for a variety of reasons. Enter the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige.

Now, this is not an inexpensive rechargeable razor. It’s at or just under $200 depending on sales. So I expected the world from it for the price, to be honest. For the most part, it’s delivering. This particular model has three large shaving heads with “NanoTech” blades and “Nano Particles” (short – very small, very sharp blades), and skin protection rings around each of the three sets. In the past, other models pulled at my beard and the experience wasn’t comfortable, but these do a much better job. You can use them dry, or with shaving creams, and even use it in the shower as it’s waterproof (I still avoid direct water flow with any device that uses batteries, though – that’s just my own quirk).

In my set, it came with the shaver of course, a proprietary charger (boo – would have preferred USB-C), a trimmer head that can be used for precise trimming of sideburns, etc., a nice hard case, cleaning brush, and a head cleaning stand with cleaning solution. Everything needed to start using and to maintain the shaver.

On a full charge that takes a couple of hours, you get about a full hour of continuous runtime, which equals quite a few shaves. A large digital read out on the front lets you know the exact percentage of battery power you have left. It’s easy to hold and has a good grip. The razor has sensors that continuously monitor the thickness of what it’s shaving and adapts to it as you shave, and it seems to work, but using a plus/minus bar lets you adjust the speed as well. It’s also very quiet, too. The shaving head pops off easily so you can rinse off the blades to keep them clean. My own beard hair is fairly standard and I sometimes go 2-3 days without shaving, but it handled mine just fine with proper maneuvering around my roundish face.

Now, it takes time to get used to an electric/rechargeable razor over hand held old school ones, so your first few times might feel awkward, but give it time. The large heads can make it a little hard to get around chins if you have a smaller one, so it’s not perfect. However, I also allowed a friend to try it out and they have a shaved head – even with two weeks of stub on his head, he said this shaver did a super good job on it, and even shaving face and head together, only used about 6% of the charge. Using too much foam can gunk it up a little FYI, so go light. Is the Philips Norelco S9000 worth $200? That’s up to you to decide – I always wait for sales for something like this, but it is definitely a very nice shaver that I would recommend if it’s in your budget.

This electric razor offers one of the best shaves I’ve ever experienced with an electric razor! The cut is smooth and efficient when used dry or wet and the screen and buttons are easily distinguished. The included accessories are extremely nice and offer an extremely premium feel. The razors in the cutting head are very sharp and provide a smooth transition around the face and scalp with no fear of accidental cuts, pulling or tugging of the hair. The razor body is heavier than lower cost razors, with a very nice balance and feel in the hand, much of which is due to the more metal construction and straight trimmer not being affixed on the back of the trimmer like many others have. The straight trimmer (commonly used for trimming sideburns and beard edges) is a completely separate head attachment that offers the same flexibility as the cutting head and offers a very smooth, quiet operation. Cleaning is extremely easy, with the razor including Philips Norelco’s self-cleaning base and solution in the box. You just set the razor in the base when it alerts you on the display (or when you feel ready) and hit start.

Overall the razor is fantastic and easy to use, providing an excellent shave with little to no skin irritation. I would definitely recommend, especially if it is on sale!

Judging just from the appearance of the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige shaver, the design is elegant and modern. The triple rotary head is soft and flexible and has a hinged opening for easy cleaning the heads. While I don’t have a thick heavy beard, the shaver glides effortlessly and conforms to every angle of my face perfectly. One of the reasons I stopped using electric shavers before was the fact that longer hairs on the neck and under the chin were impossible to shave without using a blade, but the S9000 Prestige has no problem. I will be so glad to return to an electric shaver as expensive blade razors dull quickly and I was prone to at least one cut per shave. From an ecological standpoint, electric shaving helps to save the planet from tossing more and more plastic shavers into the landfills. I like to moisturize my skin after shaving and my skin feels every bit as smooth as using a blade. One thing I really appreciate is how quiet the shaver is, probably a sign of the high precision quality of the shaver itself.

This is my first wet/dry shaver and so this was my first attempt at using foam shaving cream with an electric shaver. I was amazed at how smooth and quiet it is while shaving with foam, and it even feels like a slightly closer shave with less irritation than when using either a blade or dry electric shaver. I think I will use it as a wet shaver from now on.

The detachable charging cord plugs directly into the razor. I prefer this over using a charging base that take up valuable counter space around the sink. Charging only takes about an hour. The percentage of battery life remaining on the shaver is easy to read and takes all the guesswork of knowing when it’s time for a charge. The trimmer requires pulling the head straight off and it snaps into place with a simple firm push. I like the fact that opening the shaving heads is a simple slide of a button and it’s hinged to avoid dropping and potentially damaging the heads when cleaning. A quick rinse under the tap is recommended to clean the shaver after each daily use. Included is a quick cleaning pod to more thoroughly clean and lubricate the shaving heads with their cleaning solution refills. Simply position the shaver into the recessed area of the pod and turn it on. The shaver runs through a cleaning cycle automatically, which takes about a minute.

The S9000 Prestige comes with an attractive well-made protective case that holds the razor, trimmer, cord and a small cleaning bristle brush. Just so I don’t lose it, I store the instruction booklet in one of the mesh pockets. It’s reassuring to know that you can lock the power button while traveling so that you don’t arrive at your destination with a dead battery from accidentally powering it on.

No doubt the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige shaver is expensive, but I’ve learned from experience that quality comes at a price. I used to hate shaving, but now I actually look forward to it.

When I pulled this out of the box, the device was at 10% charge; plugging it in had it charged to 100% in probably an hour or less (I wasn’t monitoring closely). I’ve tried this out for a few days now and it gives a very close shave and contours to parts of your face without having to go over it over and over again. I do have slightly sensitive skin so there was some irritation when I first tried it out but after changing the settings for sensitive skin and using it a few more times. The instruction manual actually recommends you give this at least three shaves within a week to give your body time to acclimate to a new shaving system. I always dry shave with electric shavers but this one is capable of doing wet shaving with shaving cream as well, which should help out with achieving a closer shave without irritation.

I am slightly confused by the charging mechanism as the dock that this shaver comes with does not function as a charging dock – it’s exclusively intended to house the cleaning solution for cleaning the razor mechanisms. The shaver needs to be connected directly to the charging cable to be charged. Speaking of the razors, the heads are all water resistant and can be rinsed under running water to wash out hair and debris. This also comes with a trimmer head that you can easily swap out with minimal effort.

I was shocked to feel how light this shaver was to hold. I think it was designed strategically to be lightweight without reducing the feel of quality and good construction.

My only issue really has to do with the dock (hence the 4/5 stars) as I would expect it to be a charging dock but it’s not a deal breaker. It is a compact cleaning mechanism as other comparable systems have HUGE docks to be able to hold the cleaning solution. Speaking of compact, this also comes with a hardshell storage case that also has space for the charger, cleaning brush, and trimming attachment.

The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is a light weight solid feeling wet/dry shaver that is supposed to give you a close shave while helping you avoid cuts and avoiding the hair snagging most shavers give you with longer hairs.

The shaver does a really great job of giving you a close to razer shave and it does not leave you skin dry like certain other products. The skin-glide coating does an excellent job along with the ultraflex suspension system which helps the shaver just glide around the users face which makes using the shaver feel effortless. While you do have to go over certain dense area a few time it wasn’t really an issue for me since it would take just a extra pass or so.

Now Philips claims that this shaver can give you an ultimate shave even on a 7 day beard and the shaver does a really nice job with cutting close but there are times where it will snag on longer/thicker hairs(dry shave), I tested it after a 5 day shave and while it didn’t struggle it did leave me with a few small cut. I don’t feel you could go 7 days without a slight trim prior to using this for a dry shave even with the smart hair sensor.

Speaking of the trimmer attachment is has to be one of the absolute worst I have used, they should have just not included it because it does not help with lining up beard/side burns. You could use it to do a pre-trimm of your face prior to the shave but even than I would avoid using the trimmer attachment.

The S9000 comes with a very nice case and the cleaning pod does a great job making the shaver feel new after every use.

Overall its a decent product that would be good for someone that does a clean shave at all times.

I was using a Philips Norelco arcitec for several years, then a few of the bar type razors I received as gifts over the years. But none were as good as my old arcitec, sadly long out of production. Now enter the S9000 Prestige. The Prestige is better than any razor I ever had, including my beloved arcitec. Apparently, Norelco used the past decade plus to good use improving its razors.

My face has a subtle scar that turns a manual razor into a weapon to that part of my face, but electrics handle well. Also, while most of my beard is the normal stiff face hair that electrics handle well, there is a patch of fine soft hair that grows curly and wild where I was badly burned as a young teen. No electric razor has ever done well with the soft wild patch. I would have to shave this section with a traditional razor.

Well, no more, the Prestige is the first razor to cut my entire face as smooth as a PGA golf course. Even the soft hair that grows curly and wild, though it takes an extra pass or two to get it all. Despite the extra passes, no razor burn at all. I let my beard grow out a few days over the weekend and that was no problem. No yanking, tugging, just a smooth shave. The razor speed is adjustable to suit your face comfort. Medium worked well for me, your beard and skin may vary.

Perhaps this is the “intelligent facial-hair sensor”, the “fully flexible heads”, or the “coating made of up to 500,000 microtech beads”, or likely a bit of everything that allows this to do what no razor before has been able to do for me before. I get my entire beard shaved quickly in a one shot and save the time the manual razor with shaving cream took for the wild area. Unlike other electrics, there seemed to be no break in period, it worked well and was comfortable from day one.

There is a trimmer head included for sideburns and such. Pull the head straight off (no twisting) and push on the trimmer to use. This is an extra step over the pop out trimmer on the arcitec, but it’s much easier to maneuver and use the trimmer this way. Keeping tabs on the trimmer and swapping it in when needed is worth the small effort. I keep the trimmer, cutter cleaning brush, and AC charger in the travel case that came with the razor.

Cleaning is easy. After each shave I open the razor head with the button at the bottom and give it a rinse to flush the hair out. Or you can just use the cleaning pod. I rinse so as not to contaminate the cleaning fluid with the hair build up and hopefully have it last a bit longer and not clog anywhere. After a rinse, I leave it open to dry. Every 2-3 days I put it in the Quick Clean Pod to give it a deeper clean and lubrication of the blades. The clean pod is easy to use, razor sits in the well upside down and while running pulls the fluid up and through the blades flushing and lubricating them. It pulses for about a minute, and it powers down on its own so you can walk away. It’s very effective and runs off the battery, no power cord needed.

After several days I opened the head and cleaned each of the three rotary razors and blades with the included brush. There is a circular ring holding the head in, just a bit of a twist releases it. There was next to no buildup after several days. I feel I can extend the brushout period to every two weeks, maybe more. Time will tell. One tip: take only one cutter/blade head apart at a time to clean, then reassemble before doing the next. Each rotary cutter blade beds in its own unique wear pattern. If you mix the cutters and covers, it will not work as well until you buy a replacement blade pack. Found that out with my first Norelco.

I tried shaving with the Prestige both wet and with shaving cream, both worked well. I don’t feel a need to use these since it does so well for me dry. But every face is different, and this provides you more options to work with if needed. You may want to use the clean pod after use with shaving cream to ensure its clean after. The razor is fully waterproof, no worries there, you can use it in the shower if you wish.

That’s all the maintenance there is other than replacing the blades every year or so. The razor is smart enough to tell you when they need replacing. The display shows the battery charge left as a percentage. A 5-minute charge will get you through a single shave or two, a full charge takes just one hour. Judging by the battery charge left, a full charge should last me 3-4 weeks.

This shaver is works fantastic on all the different hair types on the face, it saves me a few minutes each day, and it is the most comfortable shave I ever had. There’s plenty of tweaking you can do with the speed and the ability to use it wet, with gel or shaving cream that provide the user with many options to work with. I highly recommend giving this razor a try.

I used foil electric shavers in the past like Braun/Remington, but over the past decade it’s really been all about actual manual shaving with razors. Now, over the past few years with the pandemic and WFH, I must say that I’ve been a bit lazy… So now I’m living with permanent stubble and shaving once every 2 weeks or so! I hope I’m not the only one that’s fallen into that trap!

Now that I’ll probably be heading to the office (or just want to not feel like a bum!) from time to time, I wanted to try a different shaving solution.

    Intro and setup
    =================
The Philips S9000 Prestige is a thing to behold. It fits perfectly in your hand and is a good combination of grippy rubber and silvery/chrome surfaces. It’s got a nice display on it that shows charge level, travel lock, and other information (I had to charge it before using – it was at 10%) and of course, that floating head with 3 circular razors.

I knew I needed wet/dry shaver so I could not only use it in the shower, but easily clean it. If it’s not easy to clean, I’m not going to do want to regularly use it.

The Philips S9000 Prestige comes with an additional cleaning pod that help you keep the blades even cleaner than just rinsing with water.

The last things that come in the box are a very nice carrying case to put everything away, a precision trimmer, cleaning brush, Quick Clean Pod and charger.

    Shaving performance
    ======================
I had to delay testing for a few days because (as mentioned before) I was on a 2-week beard and I believe this model is best with a 7-day or less beard. I shaved and decided to test it about 4 days later.

It charged quickly using the included charger and I looked forward to testing it. As mentioned before, it really fits well in the hand and as I turned it on and started shaving, I was impressed with the smoothness and closeness! It’s almost like it was a beard eraser! There are multiple speeds and medium worked well for me and was perfectly comfortable with no tugging.

In terms of closeness, I’d say it was just barely, imperceptibly less close than my razor blade.

Initially I was concerned that this larger head wouldn’t be able to fit and properly trim under my nose, but it actually fit easily!

Note – I shave with just water, I don’t use shaving cream.

    Cleaning
    =================
It couldn’t be easier to clean. Flip the top, and run water over it until clean. I think leaving this face-down in a tall cup is a good way to allow it completely dry, but you could surely just leave it open on a towel on your counter. For this model, Philips includes a new Quick Clean Pod that claims to clean 10x better than just water. You put a new cartridge into the Quick Clean Pod, place your shaver in there face-down (see pic) and switch on the shaver. In about a minute, it’s clean! I can’t say how much cleaner it is compared to water, but over the long-term I’d think it would be a good maintenance step.

    Overall and Misc.
    ========================
Wow. Shaving technology has come a LONG way since the last time I’ve used an electric shaver!

If you’re looking for a wet/dry shaver that can handle a < 7 day beard, this is a great choice! If you travel, the Travel Lock feature and case make this a great choice. Shaving performance is great! Some may say razors and foil shavers are just a bit closer, but I'd say this is good for 99.9% of people. I know some models come with a Qi charging pad, but as convenient as that is, it's less efficient (charges slower) and takes up counter space. Since this has plenty of battery power, you can charge it, use it, clean it, then leave it in a drawer until it's time to charge it again. The shaver has a nice lift-to-wake feature that lights up the display when you pick it up so you can quickly check the battery level! So yes, using a plug-in adapter to charge it may seem a bit inconvenient, but I can manage charging this thing once every two weeks. Travel lock - this is an awesome feature if you travel! Just hold down the power button for 3 seconds (the display shows a countdown) and now the "lock" icon will show up on the screen. To unlock it, just hold the button down again for 3 seconds. Precision trimmer - the existence of this is nice, but I do wish it was integrated like some other models. For this one, you have to pop off the shaver heads and pop this one on. It does a decent job with sideburns or anything else you need to quickly trim. Quick Clean Pod - I don't like having an extra cost associated with keeping up with replacement cleaning cartridges so this may be a "nice to have" but wouldn't be a reason to choose this shaver.

  22. TickledPink

The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is, hands down, the quietest and closest shave I’ve experienced with an electric shave — and I’ve been a Norelco triple-header user since the early 70’s. It’s easy to use, clean, and store.

What’s a tad bit unnecessary (my opinion) is what Norelco calls the Quick Clean Pod. Does it work at cleaning the shaver? Yes. Is it worth the extra expense of purchasing a refill? Not for me. In fact, in the instructions, Philips Norelco even carefully instructs you on how to do a deep clean once a month using hot running water and a brush (supplied). That’s what I’ve always done, and will continue to do…once the Quick Clean Pod runs out.

I do like how there are three head settings, dependent upon your shaving preference. Very simple and intuitive. Same goes for the travel lock, since I prefer to throw this (gently) into my shaving kit with all my other crap when hitting the road, instead of using the provided travel case. It actually is a very nice case, and large enough to hold and protect the shaver, as well as the provided sideburn/mustache trimmer, brush, and possibly a couple other small items. Maybe for longer trips, I don’t know.

That brings up my only gripe about this shaver — no pop-up trimmer. You have to pull off the shave head and then pop in the trimmer attachment. Not a huge deal (especially with the close shave this shaver provides), but I like a pop-up trimmer. Call me old fashioned. Verdict — one star penalty.

Did I mention how quiet this is? Granted, I’ve been using Norelcos since before Philips was added to the name — so my hearing may not be what it used to be. But this thing is quiet. Barely a squeak.

All in all, the S9000 Prestige is a darn good shaver. Close shave, long battery life, easy-to-read display, use it wet or dry — what else could you possibly want? Well, you know…

  23. Damian

I had the opportunity to try out the Philips Norelco Shaver 9000 Prestige and I have to say, it’s truly a remarkable electric shaver. This rechargeable wet or dry shaver is perfect for anyone who wants a close, comfortable shave without compromising on skin comfort.

The shaver’s NanoTech precision blades are super strong and incredibly precise. They’re even strengthened with nano particles, which means they can cut hair with incredible precision for the closest results. I was particularly impressed with the shaver’s excellent skin comfort system, which made shaving a breeze even on a longer, seven-day beard. I also noticed that the new wider, rounder openings caught more hair per pass, which definitely made a difference.

One of the coolest features of the Philips Norelco Shaver 9000 Prestige is the BeardAdapt Sensor. This sensor checks hair density 15 times per second and automatically adapts the shaver to your hair. Plus, with three customizable modes to choose from (Sensitive, Normal, and Fast), you can easily customize your shave for the best possible results.

The shaver is also really versatile, offering both wet and dry options, and comes with a skin-friendly precision trimmer that’s perfect for maintaining your mustache and sideburns. Plus, the included premium travel case is a great bonus – it’s the perfect way to protect your shaver and all its accessories when you’re on the go.

The shaver’s Lithium-ion battery is also incredibly powerful and long-lasting, which means you can get up to 60 minutes of shaving time on just one hour of charging. However, it’s worth noting that the shaver only operates in cordless mode. And while the replacement heads do need to be replaced every 12 months, the SH98/82 or SH91/52 replacement heads are easy to find and sold separately.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Philips Norelco Shaver 9000 Prestige to anyone in search of a high-quality, customizable shaving solution that delivers a close, comfortable shave.

  24. sherwinmdev

I don’t have thick facial hair. I have been using trimmers prior to this one. But I have been using rechargeable ones. The S9000 is a big upgrade than the previous Norelco OneBlade I’ve been using. It has three heads and it moves along the surface of my face. I can feel it go over my chin. I mainly use it in the shower. I go through all three of the settings. First low, then medium, then high. It’s a nice clean shave. My skin feels smooth afterwards and I just use water, no cream.

But here is where I think it needs to improve. Even with over three passes, it misses a little bit here, a little bit there. Not patches but a strand here, or strand there. I don’t have a mirror in the shower but I figured I do multiple passes each time I switch the settings, yet it still misses. Even at low settings, the blades sometimes catches hair and tugs it but not cut it. It doesn’t hurt but more of just a surprise reaction.
It’s supposed to last 60 minutes on a full charge. I would use it for about 10 minutes and it goes down by 6%. That doesn’t seem to add up. I wonder if it uses more while in the shower?
Finally, it doesn’t have a dock to charge. It comes with a charging cable but you just have it lie there. It would be nice if it came with a dock so it stands while it charges.
The travel bag is nice and simple. I can tell it will protect the shaver.

  25. Knivels

Philips Norelco shavers have become the gold standard for rotary shavers, in my opinion. The S9000 Prestige is a wet and dry tripleheader shaver from the manufacturer that promises (and delivers) the closest shave yet.

Below is a list of the contents of my package when received:

    • S9000 triple head shaver
    • Cleaning brush
    • Trimming attachment
    • Power cord
    • Quick clean pod and cartridge
    • Protective pouch
    • Manual

The S9000 Prestige is sizeable and has a gratifying wield to it. During use though, the more obvious feature is the closeness and contouring abilities of the shaver. The heads appear suspended and are able to pivot in a multidirectional fashion. Between the NanoTech precision blades and the “Top-spin” digital motor, hair pulling shaving is a thing of the past. The user is afforded the option of three settings (comfort, dynamic or efficiency) that appear to be essentially three different operational motor speeds. In my experience, all modes delivered irritation-free shaves, either dry or wet; wet shaving delivered the more effortless experience as can be expected.

The device appears well-built and should last for years; I still own older Philips Norelco shavers that date to the mid 2000s. Yes, they still work. The grip is also comfortable and the design is attractive.

Feedback is communicated via a monochromatic digital screen (about an inch in size) on the front of the shaver. Audible beeps confirm when the shaver is plugged in. Notifications displayed include:

    • Battery level
    • Charging status
    • Blade cleaning reminder
    • Blade replacement reminder (model SH91, every twelve months)
    • Personal comfort setting
    • Travel lock engaged status (activated via long press of power button)

The S9000 Prestige is powered by a Lithium-ion battery that charges in about an hour. A full charge is capable of about sixty minutes of runtime. There appears to be a wireless variant but my unit charges solely via a corded adapter. An added advantage is the fact that a five-minute charge will provide enough juice for a quick shave.

To help maintain hygiene, Philips ships this model with a Quick Clean Pod. The idea is a proprietary cleaning gel that thoroughly cleans the shaving blades for longevity and the aforementioned hygienic purposes. Philips suggests this will provide a better clean than simply rinsing with water, however, it appears the cleaning pods once activated have a shelve life that will require replacement (model CC12) from one to three months at max. Equipped with a gyroscope, the shaver detects when it has been inverted onto the pod to begin the cleaning process.

The S9000 Prestige also boasts versatility. The unit ships with a trimmer for styling/edging facial hair. To swap, the shaving head is simply removed (vertically) and the trimmer snapped in. A compatible nose trimmer attachment can also be purchased for use. A protective carrying/travel pouch is provided to help store unit, charger, cleaning brush and attachments. My only gripe with the unit is that I always appear to get a trickle of water whenever I pick up, from possibly the last rinse. Not a big deal.

For facial hair, three devices are typically resorted to: a shaving blade (stick), foil shaver or a rotary shaver. In my experience, rotary shavers have offered the perfect balance between the least irritation and closeness of shave. The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige in my opinion lives up to the brand’s heritage in an exciting package; highly recommended.

  26. IBEWSuper

The Norelco wet/dry shaver S9000 Prestige provides an extremely smooth shave and I also now have to admit much less skin irritation compared to my previous Braun shaver. I thought that I had owned top of the line shavers in the past but this unit is near perfection in every way as far as I am concerned. The unit came well packaged with thought given to reduce damage in shipping and was very nicely put together. Inside the box was the Shaver, a travel case, power/charging cord and a cleaning brush. The shaver battery was approxamitely 50 percent charged when it arrived. I reccomend fully charging the battery before first use. You can also charge the battery for one hour and it gives about 60 minutes of shaving depending on your circumstances. This shaver has very flexible heads that do a very good job of floating along your skin. The heads are surrounded by ComfortGlide rings. These rings have a protective coating to help reduce any possible skin irritation and I found them to work very well. They packet claims to have self-sharpening blades, which if true should cut down on replacement costs as they are never cheap. During the week that I have used this I cannot really tell if they do self-sharpen. I used the shaver in both wet and dry conditions and both seemed to work well. I did not notice any difference in either condition. The pop-up trimmer worked well trimming my sideburns. The shaver came with a cleaning base that cleans and lubricates in just a minute by simply inserting the shaver. I felt that this feature worked well and for me the only drawback is that you have to keep buying the pods to clean your shaver. Overall I am very pleased with this unit and would certainly reccomend.

I normally do not use this type of shaver as I had bad experiences with cheaper ones in the past. This one is so much better and really worth the price. Unboxing the razer reveals a high-end high-quality razer. The razer itself is a stainless-steel and with black rubber. This razer has some weight to it and doesnt feel cheap at all. It is also very comfortable to hold while using. There is a power button along with a rocker button to adjust the intensity of the razer. It also has a screen to show different items, such as charge level, cleaning reminder, shaver head replacement reminder, and other helpful items. The screen is very easy to read and looks on par with the rest of the razer.

Also included with the razer is a very nice carrying case, cleaning brush, a precision trimmer head, and a quick cleaning pod. This is an all-in-one package to get you going for at least a year (shaver heads should be changed every year). The cleaing pod worked great, you just put the shaver in the cleaning pod and push the razer power button. It knows its on the cleaning pod and will do its thing to clean it. It only takes about a minute and the display will tell you when its finished. Once finished it cleans out all the hair that is in the razor and does a great job at doing it.

As for how it works on your facial hair, it works great and gives a nice clean shave. I normally have a beard and go weeks without shaving. I tried it on my neck (over a weeks’ worth of hair growth) and it shaved my neck to a nicely smooth surface. I did have to go over some areas twice, but that’s because of how long the hair was. Using it every other day fixed that issue and works great at maintaining facial hair. I now enjoy shaving every day instead of being lazy and only shaving every so often.

I think with this type of razer you get what you pay for, and this one is well worth the price. If you are a person who shaves everyday treat yourself to a high-quality razer as it does make a huge difference. Philips has always made great razers and this one is top notch.

Having owned Norelco shavers my entire adult life, it’s a little hard to think – how can they make them better year after year? The last one I had came with a big clunky cleaning system that, while it did charge the shaver, it took up a lot of counter space.

This newest version is quite an improvement on that cleaning system. Instead of being a separate device to plug in, it relies on the shavers motors to clean, so no plug! Slight downside is that there is no stand-up charger for the shaver anymore.

For the cleaning pod, it is basically a plastic housing that contains the cleaning solution container. To use it, you just put your shaver in the cleaner (there’s no way to put it in wrong – it just won’t fit) and press the power button. Literally takes about a minute, and you will even see a light indicating if the cleaning solution needs to be replaced.

In the box you get a nice traveling hard case, the shaver itself, the beard trimmer attachment, and a shaver brush. I like that the display has multiple indicators including a large number for the battery. Additionally I do think it is subjectively quieter than the previous Norelco shaver I had. Overall, this is a great product and in the past week of use, it has maintained a quick, quiet, and close shave.

At first glance, you would expect this razor to be very heavy, as it looks like it’s a thick metal. It’s actually incredibly light, but seems surpassingly durable. I’ve had several high end electric razors, but this is my first Phillips, and the shave is probably the best I’ve ever had with an electric razor. It’s incredibly smooth, and the head is very adaptative to the contour of my face. My wife has actually used this on her legs because it’s so flexible that she can easily get her knees and ankles, and since she can use it in the shower, it’s a huge plus.

I don’t know how I feel about the quick cleaning pod. I think it’s a great idea, but my other high end razors have these, and I never use them once they run out of cleaning solution. The carrying case is pretty large, and while quite attractive, it’s something I’ll likely never use.

The things I really love are the digital display, the overall design is very comfortable on my hand, and very intuitive to use. The blades guide effortlessly across your face so there is virtually no irritation, and the razor will adapt to the thickness of your beard, which is a really neat feature.

Overall, pretty thrilled with this razor. I can’t imagine a razor getting much nicer than this one.

As someone who’s used a few electric shavers, the Philips Norelco S9000 is super solid, but could be a bit simpler to use.

To start, the build quality of the shaver is about as solid as most. I like the OLED display showing the battery level. The battery life on the shaver is relatively solid as well. While I quickly found myself going from 100 to 90%, I’d have no problem taking a trip on one charge.

Build quality and looks are cool, but obviously what matters is the shaving. The box advertises the S9000 as the ultimate closeness and skin comfort and after a decent amount of usage, I gotta admit, the shaver does provide a close shave. The Dual SteelPrecision blades provide a close shave that left my skin feeling smooth. With the trimmer? Ehhh…not as much. Understandably, I’ve kind of grown accustom to that with most electric shavers. I’ve been using the shaver mostly as a dry shaver, but I tested it as a wet shaver and it works well.

The shaving is clearly what matters most, and the shaver did leave my skin smooth, a lot of the setup around the shaver was not as smooth. Opening the cleaning gel was a little rough. I ended up spilling some of the gel because it took a lot of effort removing the cover from the gel’s container. Maybe that was just mine? Cleaning the shaver doesn’t work as easily as some of my other electric shavers. sometimes the shaver has fallen over when stood up to be cleaned. I assume it’s doing a good job of cleaning, I’ll have to look more at the longer term impact of the cleaning.

All in all, the Norelco S9000 is a great shaver with a few minor setbacks that keeps it short of perfection. With that said, it’s likely to be my go-to shaver for the near future.

As you can probably tell by my pictures, I’m a huge fan of Philips grooming products. I’ve been using their grooming products (almost exclusively) for over the last 10 years. I switched from the Braun series 9 foil shavers years ago and never looked back. To cut to the chase, this shaver is yet another home run from Philips when it comes to their flagship electric shavers…well, mostly a home run. While I was mostly very pleased with the shaving performance and overall package of this newly upgraded S9000 Prestige shaver, there were a couple of points of contention that kept it from receiving a five star review.

In terms of it’s shaving performance, this new S9000 Prestige delivers an incredibly smooth and close shave that seems to just effortlessly glide over your skin. I’m a long time owner of the previous generation S9000 Prestige shaver and I always raved about how comfortable the shaving experience was with that shaver. Well, Philips has somehow managed to improve upon that and this is now the new king of comfort. I believe it has to do with the larger surface area of the new shaving head design along with it’s “Hydro SkinGlide coating” tech. When I first read this on the box, it sounded like a bit of marketing jargon. However, once I used it (dry shave), I could instantly tell that it had some type of coating on the heads that allowed them to just freely glide over my skin. The result was a silky smooth shave. Also, it’s worth mentioning that I have very sensitive skin (eczema is one of my skin conditions). This shaver never caused any type of irritation or skin discomfort.

When I first received the shaver, I purposely grew out a 4 day beard to see how the shaver performed. The shaver performed flawlessly on the medium and high settings. Not once did I ever feel any hairs being pulled nor any lack of cutting power. The shaver effortlessly cut through hairs. Using it on the ‘high’ setting also helped minimize the amount of passes. Despite the 4 day beard, the shave was still incredibly smooth and comfortable. The resulting shaves were also very close to the skin rivaling that of a manual razor. Despite the great performance of this shaver, once in a while, the plastic lip around the bottom shaving head would sometimes catch on my chin a bit. There’s no discomfort, it’s just more of a small annoyance when it slightly catches as it slows down my shave more than anything. This only happens when I’m shaving my chin area. This is something that never used to happen on my previous gen S9000 Prestige. I believe this is due to the added flex of the new shaving head design and how the surface area around the shaving heads come to a point. As you can see in my picture, when the top two shaving heads are pressed downward, it creates a gap whereby the lower lip of the shaving head has the potential of catching on oddly shaped surfaces like the chin. I tried shaving in perfect circular motions and decreased the pressure applied to my chin but no matter what I did, it would still manage to catch a little bit once in a while. I do happen to have a prominent “cleft chin” so it could just be the shape of my chin and the new design that doesn’t play as well as the previous gen design did.

The cleaning station is a very welcome addition to the S9000 Prestige line. The base station has a minimal design and doesn’t take up too much space. The shaver does a great job of detecting when it’s placed on the cleaning base. All you have to do is press the ‘Power’ button once it’s in the base and the 1 minute deep clean cycle begins. I love the deep clean feature as it not only does a phenomenal job of cleaning the shaver from hairs, but it also leaves your shaver smelling amazing with a fresh out of the shower aquatic scent. I also love that you get the option of using the included push button to quickly expose the shaving head in order to give them a manual rinse. This is perfect if you want to conserve some of your deep clean cycles or if you’re traveling and don’t have access to the base station. Although I love the cleaning base station, here’s where my second point of contention comes in. While overall, the shaver and base is extremely high quality from a build & construction perspective, I hope that Philips figures out a way in the future to integrate the charging capability into the cleaning base station. As you can see from my pictures, it’s just simply not a great presentation having the cord dangling on top of the shaver while it’s in its base. It’s also a bit of a nuisance to have to manually keep plugging and unplugging the cord in order to charge it. While one could make the argument that the charging cord is useful for traveling purposes, why not make a cleaning base with charging capabilities AND include a separate charging cable for travel? Adding this capability along with having rounded surface area lips around the shaving heads would have made this a 5 star electric shaver for me.

Overall, the new S9000 Prestige is still one of the best, if not the best, flagship electric shaver on the market. It delivers one of the closest and most comfortable shaves that you can get from an electric shaver. The battery performance on this shaver was also incredible. I used this for 7 days straight on a single charge. I used the shaver each day in the morning for about a 5 minute shaving session each time. On some days I used the shaver twice a day. This also included 3 deep clean cycles throughout this 7 day period. At the end of the week, I was still at 45% battery. I also love the included accessories. As you can see from my pictures, Philips has slimmed down the travel case a lot! It used to be quite cumbersome using the older travel case on my previous gen s9000 Prestige due to it’s bulky size. I’m loving this newer more travel friendly sized case. Still the same high quality hard case material! The included trimmer also worked great for trimming my sideburns. If you’re looking for one of the closest and most comfortable shaves that you can get on an electric razor, the new S9000 prestige will not disappoint.

Simply put, this is the best shave from an electric shaver I ever had. My first electric shaver was a basic Norelco back in the 90s. The technology has definitely come a long way. Compared to my old one, this shaver is quieter, smoother, and most importantly, the razor heads do not pull any hairs on my face while shaving.

A claim on the box says the shaver can cut any beard up to seven days since your last shave. My first shave with this model was after six days of not shaving and it cut with ease. Again, without any pulling of hair. The independent rotating heads glide over the skin easily and did a good job adjusting to the contours of my face and neck. And the shave itself was close to the skin. Obviously, it doesn’t match a real razor, but this was close and clean enough. And honestly, it shaves so close that there really isn’t a need to shave with an actual razor unless it’s your wedding day. And even then, this model can be used for a wedding or anytime a close shave is required.

In regards to the different settings on the shaver, I found the highest speed (3 bars) gave me the fastest and easiest cut. I did lower the speed a couple times to cut the hard to reach places on my neck. That area required a few more passes to get all the hair. Considering I was switching from a foil shaver to these rotating heads, my skin adjusted fine. It does take about a week or two for you skill to fully adjust to a new shaver. I suspect the shave will be even nicer after my skin adjusts.

Cleaning the shaving heads is very simple. I just open the shaving cage and rinse it under hot water. This model comes with solution and a base for cleaning. After a few shaves, the LCD screen on the razor indicated I should clean the heads with the solution. It is very easy to prop the shaver upside down on the base and let the motor on the shaver do the cleaning. It’s pretty neat how this unit cycles the solution into the base and through the heads without much noise and battery usage. I’ve had a shaver in the past with a cleaning system, but this one is much simpler and smaller, and doesn’t require it to be plugged into an outlet for power. The cleaning process itself takes only a few minutes.

As much as I love the main shaver heads, the trimmer attachment does not do a good job trimming hair. The trimmer itself is not made from the same materials as the main shaver heads. The attachment is made with thin plastic with small trimmer blades that move slowly. While trying to trim my sideburns, it would take several passes and it still wouldn’t cut all the hair. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll use this attachment, and will have to resort back to my old electric shaver’s trimmer for a clean cut. It’s too bad, considering the premium price you’re paying for this model. In a pinch, the trimmer attachment will work, but you’ll have to remember to bring it with you if you travel. That shouldn’t be too hard because the shaver comes with a nice case that fits everything.

Overall, this shaver has become my primary shaver. I’ll be retiring my older foil shaver because it’s really impressive how nice the shave is with this unit. I’m not a fan of the trimmer attachment, but I can deal with this because I have a better trimmer already at home. I’ve been shaving with this unit for a week now and every time I use it, I’m amazed with how nice it feels and how fast and smooth the shave is.

I will be the first to admit that I don’t usually use an electric shaver. As a 40 year-old guy with a heavy, curly beard, along with sensitive skin, I’ve found that electric shavers tend to cut too close and their friction can further irritate my skin. This leads to awful ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and sometimes even skin infections. However, I’m really tired of the sky-high costs of manual razor refills these days, so I wanted to give this shaver a shot. I’m pretty happy I did.
My in-hand opinion of the shaver is that it’s crazy-well built. This thing is hefty and feels solid as a brick. Very nicely put together, Norelco! It has a small LCD screen that primarily displays battery %, along with other less-important notifications, etc. The shaver head opens up with a small button push for cleaning the blades. And it’s easy to replace the entire head with a new one, or the included trimmer attachment. I was a little bummed that the trimmer wasn’t built onto the shaver.
The shaver charges at what I consider to be an average pace. The user manual says that a 10 minute charge gives you a 30 minute shave. I didn’t test that fact, but I can say it took several hours to go from 0-100% battery.
Onto the shave! This was, by far, the least offensive electric shave I’d ever had. Every flat area of my face was perfectly smooth, and that’s with and against the grain of the hair. Manual razors can’t say that (unless you shave against the grain…ouch!). I believe the shaver still utilizes a lift-and-cut system, and that might explain the closeness of the shave. The hair literally gets cut beneath the surface of the skin. Despite that, the flat parts of my face showed absolutely zero sign of ingrown hairs or irritation. Super happy and super smooth!
Now it wasn’t perfect: The parts of my face with lots of curve were much more hit-and-miss. The worst was my chin, where the shaver trimmed everything down, but not nearly as smooth as my cheeks (or as smooth as my usual manual razor). It left what I estimate to be a 5 o’clock shadow on my chin. The first few mm’s directly under my nostrils were missed completely. Thankfully I don’t have much hair there, but it was inconvenient to go back over it with another razor.
As far as overall irritation goes, this shaver is hands-down better than any other I’ve tried (namely Panasonic’s and previous generation Norelco’s). In fact, the only place I had any irritation was around my Adam’s apple. This is typical for me, even occasionally for my sensitive skin branded manual razor. The creases of my neck started out like they might have some ingrown issues, but thankfully none occurred. Again, pretty impressive for an electric shaver.
Time-wise: This was roughly twice the time it takes me to shave with a manual razor. Why? Part of it is the multiple passes and part is just the way the shaver is designed to be used. Norelco shavers are designed to be used in small, circular motions–much like one might do to clean a window or wax or a car. However, a manual razor is used more like a squeegee that dries the window: One swipe, move on. Moral of the story is this: If you don’t typically rush your shave, then you’ll be fine. It took me about 10-12 minutes to do a good job with this guy vs. 5-7 minutes with manual.
The cleaning system is okay. After every shave, I empty out the hair trimmings and rinse the blades, so I never really had a filthy shaver. Basically, Norelco includes a small tub of cleaning solution, along with a stand that allow the head of the shaver to be submerged inside the solution. Nothing groundbreaking, by any means. Snap the shaver into the stand, turn on the power, and go. Shaver comes out squeaky clean, for sure! I haven’t looked at the pricing for replacement solution, so I can’t comment on that. But I wonder if one could make their own solution and save a fortune. If the cleaning system means a lot to you, you probably won’t be impressed by this one.
Overall, I found this electric shaver to be very impressive. It delivers a (mostly) comfortable and crazy-smooth shave, is well-built, looks and feels like it’ll last years, and includes a cleaning system. The negatives are few: difficultly achieving smooth results on curved areas or tight-spaces, along with some minor irritation here and there. Plus, the cleaning system is pretty ‘meh’ compared to some other high-end shavers. But if you can overlook those few nit picks, I think you’ll be just as impressed with this new Norelco as I am! Well worth the 4 stars!

  34. PhilipM

I’ve been using this high end rotary shaver for about 10 days now and after a brief adjustment period I’ve found that it provides a very close and comfortable shave. The design is attractive, and the dock used for self-cleaning provides a handy place to stand the unit between shaves. There are definitely pros and cons to the relatively large three-element shaving head vs. smaller foil based systems. On the one hand, the three heads pivot easily to conform very well to my neck and face and the system makes it easy to cover larger areas and get great results. However, this larger size can also make it a little more challenging to shave smaller areas like between the nose and upper lip. Overall, I’m adjusting fine and I think the system works well.

The percent of battery life is clearly displayed on the handle and based on my usage so far, I’d expect about 3 weeks of use before it needs charging. The supplied cleaning stand does NOT charge the shaver – you need to plug it in separately.

The shaver comes with a stand which can accept cartridges with cleaning solution and when you “dock” the shave in this stand, a single press of the power button will start a self clean cycle lasting about a minute. After 10 days of using only the self-cleaning system after shaving, I opened the heads to find them spotless, so the system works well, but be aware you will need to buy replacement cleaning cartridges once every month or two. Fortunately they’re less than $5 each.

For me, the main negatives with this unit are related to design and form factor. First, in order to use the trimmer you need to detach the shaver head and attach the trimmer, then remove it again when done. It works fine, but it much less convenient that the pop-up trimmers on some units. Second, the size of the shaving head and need for a separate trimmer attachment mean that the travel case for this shaver is relatively large, which is not ideal for travelling light. You may also need to pack the charger (which doesn’t go in the travel case) if your trip will be more than 2 weeks long.

If these drawbacks don’t bother you, this could be a good fit as it does manage to delivery very good shaving performance in an attractive package.

    Pros:
    – Excellent smooth and comfortable shave
    – Relatively large shaving head does a great job covering large areas like face and neck
    – Reasonable battery life (~ 2-3 weeks)
    – Attractive design
    – Self-cleaning system works well, but it’s also easy to rinse and clean if you prefer

    Cons:
    – That large shaver head can make tighter spots like mustache area more challenging
    – Using the trimmer requires removing the shaver head and using a separate attachment
    – The large shaver head and separate trimmer mean that the travel case is relatively large
    – Charging requires plugging in the shaver – the self cleaning base unit does not charge the battery. On the plus side, this may yield better battery longevity since the battery isn’t always sitting at 100%.

This Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige electric razor kit is a complete kit. It comes with the razor, clipper attachment, cleaning brush, charging cord, cleaning solution, cleaning pod, very nice hard case, and precise instruction manual. The razor provides a very close shave. It has different levels to provide the best shave possible for your skin. The razor head pops loose with a press of a button, so you can clean it well with water. The entire razor is for use in the shower or dry. The cleaning pod is super cool. It takes a minute to set the razor on it and push the button. It does the rest, and it also dries in place. The cleaning solution smells good too. The razor was used wet and dry, and there really isn’t a preference either way. They both provided a really good close shave that didn’t irritate the skin. I will say that the first time it was used, it didn’t irritate the skin a tiny bit, but it quickly went away. It tells you in the manual that it might do that. The display is great on this razor. It tells you the percentage of charge left, when to clean the razor and more. The head of the razor comes off in order to attach the trimmer. It’s easy to remove and put it on and then switch it back. The case is a hard case, and it has plenty of room to store everything, including the charging cable, so it makes it easy to travel with it. I highly recommend this razor.

Having used Philips shavers for a very very long time, this newest one is near perfect.

Right out of the box it is ready to go, no need to install any blades or get anything overly setup.
Push button, and start to shave.

At first I thought the boxy shaped blade head area was going to be a challenge, but really it helped get a crisp line in areas I wanted it. I was able to control the shaver better.

Three power levels, that I could speed up the blades. For me, I just needed the low level, I don’t have thick hair. First usage, no shaver irritation. Just a clean smooth shave.

Light weight, not overly bulky, and was done shaving in just a couple minutes.

The one nit-pick is a 2023 nit-pick. I am not sure why the need for a custom (yet small) adapter for this. Why not a USB-C option? or just it being a USB-C sized port. As a traveler, I would like one less thing to bring with me, just in case I need the charge while I am out there.

Included is a cleaning kit, looks simple to use, but no need to use it after each shave, just rinse in water and ready to go. Will use the kit, for a deep clean about once a month

Overall – Great Tri head lift and cut shaver. This shaver works wet or dry and features variable speed
settings and an extremely long run time. I took it out the box, added the cleaner to the base and charged it fully.
I then proceeded to shave daily with this razor for almost ten days without charging it. Impressive battery life !

The travel pouch that is included fits the razor, the AC adaptor and the clipper accessory without issue. It is
hard sided and will avoid your razor being crushed when packed into luggage.

Since I have very sensative skin and am very prone to rashing and ingrown hairs – I’m inclined to let everyone know
that this shaver works extremely well for dry shaving. It can mow through every other day shaves without issue.
I recommend not applying much pressure as the lift and cut technique of this triple head shaver will actually result
in too close a dry shave resulting in ingrown hairs and irritation. Use a very light pressure and multiple passes
and you will receive an incredibly close shave without it being “too close”.

    What I love:
Super close shave – even dry !
Great runtime – I used it daily for over a week without recharging it
    Lightweight and includes travel case.

    Could be improved:
Pop on clipper attachment works but I’ll stick to a dedicated clipper
Wireless charging would be nice – the cord is awkward when on the cleaning base

Sometimes expensive gadgets aren’t worth it and sometimes they’re worth much more, this is a case wherein this electric razor is worth much more than its price. I can not think of one negative thing to say about this razor. Firstly the battery is great: from the half a charge it arrived with to a full charge it took a little over an hour. On a full charge I’ve shaved with it 12 times on medium (it has 3 power settings and medium was more than high enough to shave me close and quickly) before having to recharge it. That’s a lot more than any other electric razor I’ve ever owned. Its the quietest electric razor that I’ve ever owned. It doesn’t pull, tug and or snag any hairs. And best of all it gave me the closest shave as any electric razor that I’ve ever owned, in fact it was as good as a manual 4 blade razor. The stand that comes with it is nice but not required. Too bad it doesn’t charge in the stand. The alternative straight cut razor attachment for sideburns was sharp and easy to use. The digital display tells you exactly how much batter life remains as well as what power setting you’re on. This razor just feels really good your hand.

I received the Norelco S9000 Prestige Wet & Dry shaver and after using it now for a couple of weeks, both wet and dry shaving, I couldn’t be happier. As a man with very sensitive skin, I have used various shavers from Braun, Panasonic, and cheaper Norelco previously; but this leaves them all in the dust.

Unpacking: The razor comes in a custom case that houses the razor, trimming attachment, and cleaning brush. Also in the package are the power cord and cleaning pod. It’s a great looking razor, and the rigid case protects it well during travels, no worries about it accidentally turning on while in your baggage.

First time use: I charged it for a few hours to get it to 100%. It does require being plugged in; however, it seems otherwise identical to their Qi charging shaver that will cost you another $50. Is having wireless charging worth that extra spend on an already expensive shaver? You’ll have to decide that for yourself of course, but to me, I am happy to plug it in. After charging it, I gave it a go at my 3-day old stubble as a dry shave, and was truly amazed and happy at how quickly, quietly, and smoothly it cut and made my face and neck baby smooth in barely 3 minutes. No redness, no discomfort, just a great shave. I then popped off the razor head and replaced it with the included sideburn trimmer which pops on in its place. It did a fine job straightening up my sideburn line as was as trimming around my ears. I much prefer this method of trimming to the flip up style my prior shaver had; those flip up ones don’t lock in place and it’s impossible to use any amount of pressure moving in an upward motion without making it start to fold.

I waited a full week before using it again, since it claims to work on 7-day growth. I went with a wet shave this time and it did just as great a job as the first time, speeding through in under 4 minutes. It was a pleasure to use, the glide was fantastic, it cut with ease, and cleaned up good as new. I stopped a couple of times to pop the cover open to clean out the inside, then closed it up and ran it that way under the water to clean the blades. Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy.

I have not used the cleaning pod that comes with it. I have found that just running it under water after wet shaving, or just opening it up and using the handy dandy cleaning brush after a dry shave, cleans it just fine.

Final thoughts: All I want from a shaver is a comfortable, close shave even in the tight spots; no nicks/cuts; and for it to complete the task quickly without having to make several touch-up passes. This hits all of my requirements exceptionally well. I give the Prestige S9000 model SP9841/84 my unconditional, enthusiastic recommendation.

I really don’t enjoy shaving. It takes too much time out of my mornings and it’s an inconvenience. I normally use a razor and shaving cream, and it’ll take me around 3-4 minutes from start to dry. When I saw the Phillips Norelco, I was really excited to see how this could improve my shaving time and quality.

In the box, you get everything you need for a quick shave. I really like the screen of the shaver; it’s bright and the text is easy to read. The battery percentage shows up and turns off while not in use. It has very fast charging, which is great if you’re in a rush. Also included in the box is a nice carrying case and a cleaning pod. The cleaning pod is something I’ve never seen, but it helps to clean and lubricate the shaver, which is nice to have.

Since I’ve been using a razor for so long, I knew that my skin was going to need to get used to the shaver. I started at the lowest setting on my 5 day beard and used my normal shaving cream. It started working very well. I also tried the medium and high settings and those did a much better job of getting larger hairs. After about a minute or two, it shaved most of my beard, but left some stragglers towards the bottom of my neck and chin. I had to finish off the shave using my razor to get the missed spots. After rinsing, I would give the shave a 7/10. I had some irritation on my neck, but it was expected.

Overall, the Phillips Norelco is something that I’m excited to keep using. I normally wait a week to shave, but the shaver makes it so easy that I feel I could do it every other day in a couple of minutes.

I have them all arc5 (2nd best), braun 929 etc…this one shaves the best by far and its the closest. Only downside is the side burn trimmer should be attached to the unit instead of switching the head of the shaver on and off the cleaning pod works but if you leave the shaver in it upside down it doesn’t dry properly.

Extremely happy with this razor. Replaced 15 year old Norelco, this one is quieter, much smoother and easier to clean.

Had this item for about a month now. The biggest thing i noticed is how long it keeps a charge. It holds a charge for well over two weeks. That in itself was worth this purchase for me. The shave itself is comfortable. The razor has two speeds for your liking. Overall, i rate this 10/10

Pretty good shave, but not perfect several passes needed. Norelco has really cheaped out on accessories, no more covers for the shave head to protect it after cleaning.

My husband absolutely loves this razor. Gives him a very close shave and works well on the tougher to reach whiskers, I.e. center mustache area. He has always used Norelco and this one is the best he has ever had.

Have owned several electric razors and this is by far the best one I have ever owned. The quietness is fantastic and the closeness of the shave is beyond any of my past razors. Can’t say enough good about the razor and hope for longevity.
