This is my first inverter tech microwave and I will never go back to the old style pulsating magnets ever again.
First off this thing is huge for a microwave don’t underestimate how much counter space it takes it just barely fits snug under my cupboards. Packaging was fairly basic which is a plus not too much styrofoam to discard. Don’t forget to remove the blue plastic scratch protection sheet!
I found the operation of the microwave mildly more confusing than my old model. With no word descriptions only symbols. I suggest keeping the manual nearby the first week or so.
My favorite function is the steam sensor reheat. Instead of choosing a time you just you let whatever you are making cook until the sensor detects steam from it and boom its perfectly cooked everytime. Its literally three button presses without having to constantly figure out the proper cook time.
The touch panel feels very responsive and stays clean easily.
Overall I love this microwave and I’ve found myself looking for things to reheat or heat the first time and have not been disappointed yet. Spend the extra for this.

This microwave is the new generation of microwaves. The sleek look is very attractive, but it is what’s inside that makes this microwave great. It is very spacious and accepts full size plates. The microwave truly cooks evenly. No more cold spots in your microwaved food. The sensor cook feature monitors the food and adjusts the temperature to not undercook or overcook your food. The defrost feature works well too. It defrosts without ‘decomposing’ your food. The microwave has many preset options for popcorn, defrosting, and reheating. The keypad is different. There are no numbers, but instead it has icons. It takes a bit getting used to, but once you do it is smooth sailing. The 1250 watt microwave makes this a behemoth of cooking ability. I am sure we will own this for many years to come. A microwave for the 21st century.

I didn’t realize how big this was until I received it. This is. 1250Watt microwave which is the best i have used so far in terms of power. My old one was a 1000 watt one. This thing comes with inverter technology which is supposed to help with keeping the heat at a more steady pace instead of going higher and lower and it seems to works great. It also has sensors to detect when the food should be ready by sensing the water level in the food which works almost all the time as well. To work this it is a bit different using a touch panel which has a slider to increase time instead of a number pad. It also has a rapid defrost button and others like popcorn and etc. for the price you get your monies worth imho if you just want something more then a basic one.

In the box is the microwave and the plate insertion. Keep in mind that the owners manual maybe inside of the microwave and keep it close by because there are so many features and great information to read. I must admit that this is the first product that I have actually read the manual from the beginning to the end. The microwave is really big but it is very light. Make sure you have a place to store that allows for three of the sides to room for the vents. Also make sure you remove the plastic wrap that covers the whole microwave. (There is a warning label on the microwave to remind you as well.
I absolutely love this microwave but I have to admit that it did take a little getting used to because there are no numbers, only . There is a 30 second button for quick heating and all of the other buttons are shaped to the task. The manual is very thorough and tells you what each button does and there are even recipes and instructions on how to cook different items. Another feature that I really like and I find very helpful is the child lock.
Since the microwave works with sensors I highly recommend reading the manual and using the types of containers that is recommended.
Overall, I really love this microwave. From the beautiful design, to the updated buttons, I am actually excited to use this machine to its full potential!

The Panasonic Genius Prestige is a classy looking microwave that does a great job of cooking and reheating foods evenly. Panasonic uses a new inverter technology to help cook foods evenly without cold/frozen spots or hot/burnt spots.
Setting it up was a breeze and there’s a very intuitive menu system that gets you started quickly or allows you to set cook timer.
Large, spacious, easy to clean both inside and out, I’ll enjoy this microwave for years to come!

For years I have always just thought of a microwave as just that, all same same and nothing special. Well this microwave changed that!
This is a big unit, the largest microwave I’ve ever had, you could easily fit a decent size turkey in here to defrost so make sure you have the space needed in the area you plan to place it.
It’s simple to use and the touch panel is great, very responsive and not super bright like a lot of digital clocks on others microwave units. The stainless look is really nice but due to the size of the device you do get some flex on the top of the microwave.
When it comes to using then this thing is great! It’s very powerful and if you’re not careful you can over cook food but this is something you get used too. I love that I know when I place an item in the microwave and when it comes out that it’s actually hot. Also I love how quite this microwave is, it’s so nice not to have something that’s so noisy like cheap microwaves.
Overall I love this microwave, it’s opened my eyes to seeing that not all microwaves do the same.
I highly recommend this, it’s fantastic and worth every penny.

We got this Panasonic microwave to replace a roughly 5 year old one.
The black and stainless steel body and touchscreen controls give it a nice modern look.
Controls do take some getring used to as they are no number buttons only pictures/icons so you’ll want to read the manual to familiarize yourself with the controls. A plus is that they are backlit and easy to see which is a huge plus over our old one that had buttons that were near impossible to see.
The Cyclonic Inverter technology wasn’t a huge selling point for us, but after using this Panasonic it has proven to be worth it. Leftovers have been reheated perfectly each time and Frozen entrees and vegetables have been cooked perfectly without needing to add additional time. We haven’t used all the features so far but we are very happy that we got this Panasonic microwave.

Right off the bat I’ll admit that I’m deducting a star because of the touch pad… the only way I could see it as being usefull would be in a 3rd world country where they don’t know how to use a microwave… everyone else in the world knows how to use a standard touch pad. Never in my life have I ever used a microwave touch pad and said to myself, “Gee, I sure wish someone would make this thing harder to use, and way more confusing…” And I’ve never met anyone who expressed that thought to me in conversation either…
Second gripe… the “stainless cover” The front of the microwave looks great, and it matches my other stainless appliances… the rest of the microwave is a blueish chrome tinted stainless, that jumps out as being odd and weird, and doesn’t match anything else in my kitchen. It would be nice if the cabinet was black like every other microwave I’ve ever owned… I mean black goes with everything… weird bluish chrome stainless doesn’t go with anything…
So now that I’ve gotten the bad out of the way, on to the good:
1st. It’s powerfull!!!
2nd. It’s powerfull!!!
3rd, It’s got a smart sensor that detects the steam level coming off of your food and it will self adjust the power. I have yet to have anything boil over which is awesome! However, some stuff takes longer to cook because the microwave throttles down the power once the steam level gets to high.
4th: It’s got a huge cooking area… I’m not 100% but it sure looks like I could fit a whole Turkey inside if I wanted to… It will obviously hold anything else I could ever dream of cooking.
Minor annoyances:
1st. The popcorn button… it only has 3 settings, and they aren’t adjustable. Where did they get the settings from??? None of my favorite brands of popcorn are any of the settings in size… so I have to use it the old fashioned way and just hit the longest time program and then listen until the popping slows to the amount suggested on the popcorn bag and then stop the microwave manually… what’s the point in having a popcorn setting that doesn’t match any of the popular popcorn bag sizes, but also isn’t user adjustable?
2nd: 75% of all the “Genius” features will only work correctly if the user pre preps the food specifically to be used in the microwave… there is a bunch of instructions in the users manual that tells you how to do it, and none of it is how a normal person would normally refrigerate or freeze their food. The microwave smart features also don’t work on store bought frozen meals either so when you microwave a TV dinner, just like the popcorn, you’re back to following the instructions on the dinner instead of the microwave…
All of the minor nagging issues wouldn’t be so bad except they come right back around to my original gripe with this microwave, and thats the silly pictographic keypad that nobody asked for and which makes making adjustments slow and confusing… Also did I mention that if you press any of the smart functions to cook something and then want to add some time to it before it’s finished because you can see it’s not cooked all the way yet, the add 30 sec button doesn’t work… it only works if you use the cumbersome plus or minus slider bar when you first start it up to cook… All of the pictograph nonsense makes me wish I just had an old fashioned timer dial from the 70’s instead…

My previous microwave sensors broke down to the point I was unable to use any of its features except manual time entries. I was in the market for a reliable microwave that has good sensors to reheat my food. I have been very impressed with the Panasonic microwave on re-heating up food along with the features. However there is a small learning curve trying to navigate through their touch panel.
Pros:
Price per Features (ex:”3 Stage Cooking”, “Keep Warm”, “Inverter Turbo Defrost”)
Uses Inverter Technology
Sensors
Large Capacity
Includes “Microwave Shortcuts” and “Cooking Techniques”
Cons:
Touch Panel
Learning Curve
::Installation::
The installation was very easy and arrived in good packaging. When installing remember to remove the film that is protecting the surface from scratches. There is a little paper marker to notate however if in a hurry you could miss it as the film blends in very well. The manual that comes with it is like a book. There are so many features and how to navigate through the touch panel that I wished Panasonic created a “Cheat Sheet” chart.
::Cooking / Reheating::
This microwave uses Inverter Technology which basically means the power level adjusts per heating heating load. It uses a power motor instead of a magnetic coil which is suppose to be more energy efficient. I am unable to speak towards the energy efficiency as I have not noticed a difference however the Inverter heating method has been very impressive. This technology allows for things like defrosting / cooking food alot faster with less nutrient reduction. I really am impressed with how large the capacity is within, you can pretty much fit a small turkey in it.
::Owners Manual::
The manual is so huge that I actually had to create a separate section just to talk about it. It is packed with so much useful information that I strongly recommend to read through it. I know many discard manuals however it would be a huge loss if you discard this one. First section is installation / safety features, however past that is where the true value comes in. They have a nice “Cookware Guide” to assist with the container you are placing inside to warm up. They then have a large dedicated section for the input panel functions and icon descriptions. I wish they had ability to input digits instead of using a +/- bar for timer. The next section of the manual they go into some of the unique features. For example the “3 Stage Cooking”, “Keep Warm”, “Coffee/Milk Feature”, “Popcorn Feature”, “Sensor Reheat / Sensor Cook Feature” and “Inverter Turbo Defrost Feature”. The next section includes the Defrost Tips and Sensor Cooking Chart which I recommend reading through to get the most out of your sensor cooking. I was very impressed on how you can take advantage of the sensor cooking on this microwave. After that section there is a random “Microwave Recipes”, I call it random because it is placed between the sensor cooking and cook timer features. It would have been better to move that to its own section so its not missed. I have tried the Mac n Cheese recipe and it turned out really good! My favorite section of the manual is towards the end (pg. 24-27) the “Microwave Shortcuts” and “Cooking Techniques” I wish they had this as a separate book or at front of manual. The information is extremely valuable as cooking with an Inverter is different versus a magnetic.
Overall I would recommend this microwave for anyone in the market for an upgrade or replacement. The features, inverter cooking method and sensory are very impressive along with not having to worry about using a magnetic heating element.

I’ve had this for about a month now and it’s worked great, although there is a slight learning curve in regards to the operation.
This is a really attractive microwave. I never thought in my life I’d be saying something like that. It has a really large interior and could shove some gigantic amounts of food in there.
However, it is big. That can be great for some, not so great for others. Just keep that in mind.
In regards to heating up food, the only comparison I have is with a 10-year old microwave and it heated up food I’d say about 20-30% faster which is a good improvement.
The buttons are where I think there could be some improvement as they are all just icons and can be a little confusing – so it’s a good idea to read through the manual thoroughly to understand what it can do.
It’s not a cheap unit either so that would be my other bit of feedback.
But still, a great microwave. Does it’s job and works great if you’re OK with less-than-ideal usability.
TechGuru –
This microwave is HUGE. That is a big plus for me and my family. There is plenty of room to heat up multiple bowls of leftovers at the same time. Using the steam sensor, reheating is a snap, as it automatically stops when the food should be ready.
It is a very good looking microwave, and would look good in just about any kitchen, especially one primarily featuring stainless steel. The touch screen also looks very cool.
That said, the touch screen doesn’t have numbers, save the for +30 seconds button. I do not like this. While I get that all of the icons are supposed to make setting a cook time easier, I much prefer manually entering cook times. I worry that any house guests I have may have a difficult time using this microwave on their own.
In summary, the Panasonic Genius Prestige Plus is a stylish, powerful microwave, but it seems to have tried to fix problems that didn’t exist with the icon based touchpad.

So I wanted to use this for a weeks or 2. To see how great it could be. And I’m glad I did. I always bought those cheapo tiny microwave ovens that were just good enough. I said those would do just fine. Until you get something bigger and better. I have definitely been missing out. This huge microwave oven will heat and reheat anything you put in. We have 2 young children and they like what every toddler likes and we need/want to feed them quickly. This will cook in way less time. I myself don’t enjoy leftovers or reheating my food. I like it fresh. But this would heat it up perfectly. I didn’t know what inverter tech was. But it makes a huge difference. Amazing. My wife is soo happy. We buy pizza frequently and this will fit the whole box of large pizza. Crazy. Also the touch buttons are bright but not over done. They also kinda tell you what to press. Very cool. High tech. Stainless steel will need to be maintained tho. Fingerprints add up. But easy to clean. Great product from a great company. Good luck. You will love this for sure.

I have always been one to think that a microwave was just a microwave so my expectations for this one were pretty low. This definitely exceeded my thoughts. Cooks evenly and can handle simple tasks like reheating leftovers as well as more complex cooking needs. If you’re a micorwabe fan and
Mikepas –
This microwave is perhaps the fanciest one I’ve ever owned or used and I am beyond happy with the results it produces. Sure, there are a lot of catch phrases that seem to perhaps come from the advertising department but they really do make a difference.
First, read the included manual. You’ll thank me later for that advice as unlike most microwaves this one does not have a traditional “key pad” for number/time entry. It uses pictographs for this. After a bit of a learning curve it was easy to master cooking/reheating food.
Second, learn to trust that the microwave knows what it is doing! The built in sensors actually do their job which is a far cry from other microwaves I’ve used with “built in sensors”. The Inverter tech in this thing is a god send for properly cooked and reheated food. Everything I’ve thrown at it has come out evenly heated. It is awesome!
It’s a bit on the larger side so remember that if counter space is at a premium.
To make the best use of this microwave read the instructions!
A great purchase!!!

So this Panasonic is replacing a 7 year old microwave. I didn’t think there were would be a huge difference, but boy was I wrong. To begin with, make sure that you read all of the information that it comes with. Make sure you remove the blueish film that it comes with. I would also familiarize myself with the manual, because without reading it you can become frustrated. The reason for the frustration is that this microwave doesn’t have a number pad, like your traditional microwave. If you don’t adjust well to change, then I wouldn’t recommend this microwave. We had no problems with the pad, but I can see how someone can. To me the big difference is how well the microwave heats your food up. It is much faster than my old one and more importantly it heats my food more evenly. I always had issues with the bottom of my food being not as warm as the top, but with this Panasonic that problem is gone. This microwave has improved the quality of my leftovers. I highly recommend this microwave if you are looking for upgrade on your microwave because of how well it reheats the food, but if you don’t deal with change well (because there isn’t a keypad), then you might rethink getting this microwave.
knamed2016 –
I like the microwave and it does a good job at microwaving food. The inputs are my only real complaint. It was not and is not very friendly when you can’t see your buttons very well. The only complaint depending on how you want to use the microwave is the mounting kit is expensive. I would not want to look at this thing everyday so I would just be bothered I had to spend so much on it. Function wise, it does a great job and have had zero issues.
MsTexas –
Absolutely fantastic beyond words!!!! The Panasonic-Genius Prestige Plus 2.2 Cu. Ft. Microwave with Sensor Cooking is incredible. Yes…..it is huge, but so was the Whirlpool Microwave it is replacing. The trim from the Whirlpool fits perfectly this new Panasonic. Haven’t used everything yet since this is a brand new addition to my kitchen. But, I am beyond impressed with everything the Panasonic-Genius Prestige Plus does. Will definitely have to sit down and read the “book” of how to operate this microwave to its fullest potential. Love, love, love this microwave.
Alexis –
Nice. Micro but dad was afraid of a Panasonic flame out like the last one he bought. Too big a microwave for one or two people.
Emanuel –
Finally a microwave that cooks evenly! Excellent machine with a lot of power. Takes a little while to get used to the touch pad with icons.
Charles –
This microwave is the best I’ve ever had. It’s more consistent with reheating, cooking, and general usage.
The only real complaint I would have is that the keypad is so much different than older microwave ovens; that the manual could be more instructive to help train us better to the new controls.
Suzie –
This microwave is huge! You definitely have to read the manual in order to know what each picture button means, which is my only complaint. I would rather have words. But it works very well. It looks nice. I love it.
Allen –
Very simple Great value it is faster than old one!
Rockhound –
Had to learn fast after Geek Squad left this microwave, but failed to hook up a gas range on the same day both were delivered. It’s hard to decipher all the icons necessary to perform simple functions, but I’m learning enough to heat frozen meals.
KnTB –
The microwave cooks well, but you have to learn what each button means on the front (no keypad, each button is a different cooking feature).
SuperUser2112 –
Didn’t think microwave technology would ever change. I discovered I was wrong once I replaced our old one with this one!
Cookingathome –
This microwave does not have a numeric key pad allowing you to set time. Instead, you have to hold the plus And/or minus keys until you get to the correct time. Very difficult and annoying!
Kendra –
Large size interior. Buttons hard to figure out. Adjusting power level inconvenient. Fit perfectly into our cabinet space. No quieter than our previous microwave.
Jaybird –
The microwave is a very good size; it easily fits 13×9 lasagna pans for reheating. There’s a little bit of a learning curve for the controls.
KWStamford –
Our very first and best microwave ever was a Quasar (Panasonic) back in the 80s. When we needed to replace our built-in microwave, the latest in a series of expensive and unreliable models, I was thrilled to find this Panasonic product. So far, we’re very happy with it. The company is innovative so the microwave is quite different from others. As others mention, it does take a little time to learn how to operate a unit that uses symbols instead of a number pad. We’ve kept the manual handy for reference, but we mastered the basics quickly. The oven cooks evenly and well. It was large enough to fill the space previously occupied by other microwaves with their trim kits. That was a big plus. I’m really happy to be back with Panasonic after so many other microwaves seemed to fail pretty quickly.
dereksmalls –
This microwave cooks really well. The sensor cook/reheat/defrost is near perfect. Reheating pizza has always been an issue with past microwaves but the Panasonic heated it perfectly. My one complaint is the control panel is not very intuitive.
Richard –
Well built and well designed. Doesn’t have numeric touchpad so most will need to learn a new method of setting cooking time.
mykenwoodsounds –
works very well looks a bit big i think buoght the right one
Phil –
Has worked quite well so far. It heats food quickly and evenly. We quickly became accustomed to the control panel. This replaced a 20 year old Panasonic microwave and fit well in our existing cabinet.
Microwave –
Once you get used to the symbols this microwave is very easy to use. We really like it.
MLevin46 –
I had to wait several months before Best Buy had it back in stock, but it was worth. This is a quality product.
Note20 –
Controls require a learning curve but unit is well made
snahaw0 –
Why would you remove the number keypad from a microwave??? Setting a time to cook is really annoying since you have to scroll through the numbers to get to the time instead of selecting from a keypad like EVERYTHING ELSE!
Defender –
Panasonic continues to make outstanding/dependable quality products so very happy to have purchased this exceptional microwave. Cooks food easily and perfectly.
Lynn –
We purchased this microwave in Dec. 2020, and installed it in April 2021 in connection with a kitchen renovation. In July 2022 it stopped heating and cooking food. Panasonic wanted to charge us $90 to even speak to a technician because the warranty had expired. The microwave failed after 15 months of service and Panasonic refused to even discuss it with us. I will never buy another Panasonic product.
santarosaBB –
Very satisfied with this microwave oven overall…..
bobpl –
My last microwave oven lasted more than 20 years. This unit is far superior to many of the microwave units I have researched.
CarolM –
This Panasonic microwave fit nicely into the built in area above my range. The trim kit was a bit of a pain to install and required carpentry skills which Best Buy took care of. Despite having no numerical keypad, and a bunch of unusual symbols, the microwave works well.
CRHend –
This replaced a nearly identical, but well used, Panasonic microwave. Only thing missing is a numeric keypad for direct entry.
Troutman –
I bought this Panasonic microwave to replace an older model because it is the same size as our old one and I did not need to buy a new frame and mounting kit. The control panel is very different from the old one, but we have adjusted to it fairly well. I do miss not having a number pad for setting the run time. The +/- symbols run very quickly and it is hard to get the exact time you need on the first try. I think Panasonic was trying to correct a problem that did not exist!
Overall it is a very good unit and it works well
MichaelL –
This microwave quit working after 2.5 years. The part this is broken has a 5 year warranty from Panasonic however they simply will not help us. We have tried calling, emailing, online chat, etc and they just keep giving us the runaround. I would not recommend this microwave.
EdwinG –
Save your money buy a Breville” Panasonic was a dissapointment. Door would’t close.
Phocopa –
Replaced a thirty year old oven from the same manufacture.
DanielS –
My wife loves it. Even the new interface. We replaced our old Panasonic microwave workhorse with this one.
CindyP –
I would have given it a five star had it been slightly easier for people to understand.
Wayne –
Panasonic is simply the best! Easy to operate and looks great.
