Great camera! I shoot with multiple cameras, including the Nikon D500 and Z⁷. The D850 has a similar layout, so if you’re a Nikon user, this is !n easy transition. Takes beautiful pics. I lik÷ this D850 perhaps more than my Z7 mirrorless.

Solid camera. A full frame camera with plenty of megapixels. Upgrading from a D7500 I do miss the internal flash for on the go. But my use was for indoor portrait photo.

I was debating between going mirrorless or staying with Dslrs. I upgraded from a d3500 and decided after 2 mths of reviews to get this D850. Im still learning the button placement for what you choose to set them as. But the shutter button is so much quicker than what Im used to!
I do wildlife photography and do print a lot of prints, so having the extra MP is great. There isnt much weight difference for me with the 200-500 attached, although many stated its heavier. I do mostly handheld and have had no issues thus far, even with BIF. I am happy with my purchase so far, seeing its only been since Xmas.
I got it on sale for $350 less than regular price.
It does need a XQD (CF express) card, which is pricey. But… this camera can work with just the SD card alone.

I have a Nikon D850 already, but my shooting partner has been using it more than I, so I decided to get my own and let her have the other. Camera works fantastic, just as the other. Fast shutter speed and the cache doesn’t fill up. Love it!

Absolutely love this camera! I have been wanting the D850 for years and finally got it as a birthday gift for myself. As an average photographer who is still learning all the things this camera is capable of, I have to say the initial setup was fairly simple and was out shooting only a few hours later. (Had to charge the battery first!)
I was able to use my old lenses from my D3300 without any problem and was thrilled they triggered the autocrop which actually added a 1.5X zoom, allowing some incredible closeups.
Whether you’re like me, just coming out of novice mode, or a seasoned pro, there is no way you would not be impressed with the incredible photos the D850 can produce.
With 2 card slots, I was happy I could continue using my old SD cards and was not forced to purchase a newer card (newer to me.) at the same time as the camera since it is a major investment already.
I attached my very first photo with my new D850, using my old D3300 55-200mm lens and my old SD card without any editing at all.

This is my fourth Nikon DSLR and it is the best one by far.
Over the last few years I have had the chance to work with one of Canons DSLR’s along with a Fijifilm X-Pro and even Nikon’s Z6, and I can say that this camera offers the best combination of features, performance, and image quality for the price.
Plus if you started working in the photography field prior to digital, this camera makes will make the move to digital easy.

With my first D850 being missing in action, after almost five years of excellent service, I needed a replacement, for what is arguably the best DSLR in the world. So, I bought my second D850. Simple as that. Hopefully, my first one was merely misplaced, and will be found. There is nothing wrong with having a spare.

Excellent DSLR camera, and a perfect step up from the D750. Controls very similar, easy learning curve. The value of this camera is that all my FX Nikon G lenses fit perfectly and interface seamlessly. The choice was this camera or a mirrorless to get the 45Megapixel sensor. The deciding factor was that all my lenses fit and work as intended. With a mirrorless, I’d lose some functional easy with an adapter, or have to buy all new lenses. This made it an easy choice to stay with the DSLR.

For me, this is a great step up from my old D300S. This is full frame vs DX with greater resolution, speed (focus, processing and fps), interfaces directly with mobile devices and is a joy to use with very similar controls I’m used to. Plus, this takes advantage of the numerous lenses I already own. Maybe in the future I will upgrade my whole kit to mirrorless, but for now I will definitely enjoy this awesome camera and my beloved Nikon glass.

This is not a lightweight camera, especially with the Nikkor 200-500mm zoom telephoto lens. However, I’ve been able to capture some amazing bird-in-flight photos. If you use this combinationin the field, seriously consider using a monopod.

Having used the camera for a few months now, I would say that probably it is not worth going for it .. instead go for mirrorless range as Nikon does not seem to be in a mood to support D850 – one pointer to this is that the camera has a Wifi feature but Nikon’s Wireless Transfer utility will not work with D850 – there is no Connect To PC option. This is the only reason i gave it a 4 star.
Coming to the picture quality – they are sharp – as good as it gets! However, if you are doing hand-held photography (which i do most of the times as i mostly photograph birds) any shake is only going to get amplified due to the huge resolution of the images.
Also, probably you need a laptop with at least 16 GB RAM to process the RAW images – 8GB RAM is not good enough for over 50 MB RAW image files that get generated.
I wish Nikon continues supports this camera in future.

Love the camera. I upgraded from a D7500, which I really liked, looking for a little more of an edge. Was it worth it, absolutely. Love the view finder, rear focus button, joy stick, and auto focus. I‘m not a photographer of people: animals, landscapes, and macros are my focus areas. The D7500 had more capability than I, the D850 even more so; but trying to understand it, is making me a better photographer and I never have the excuse, “if I had a better camera”.
